If you're looking for massage therapists who actually do real work, this is the place. I've seen both Helen and Heajin, and they are exceptional in different but complementary ways. Helen is incredible for deep tissue, especially hip work. She goes deep, she's effective, and she is not afraid to work through tension. This is not a light, spa-style massage. It's therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That's part of the technique and something to be aware of if you're new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. If you want thoughtful, strong, therapeutic massage from practitioners who really know the body, I highly recommend Unwind.

I have been going to Ivo for massage for over 5 years, sometimes weekly. He is very well trained and really talented, his massage is very detailed and he never fails to address all problematic areas. Ivo has been able to help me greatly with a number of back, neck and joints issues. More recently, his therapeuthic massage helped me to recover from a painful back injury and he literally brought me back on my feet. Regardless of what kind of massage one needs, chosing Ivo will always be an excellent choice. His work is rock solid, his attitude is always professional, he is calm and reassuring, and has a good sense of humor, too. This therapist truly is one of the very best in DC. Works in great location close to Dupont Curcle. Yes, and he observes a strict protection protocol during this pandemic! Great all over. read more

I have been seeing Ivo every week for the past three years and I cannot speak enough to his professionalism and care. He is always on time, he is always polite, and he is patient. He always ask the client where they want to work on first and works with them to make sure the pressure is at their level of comfort. His knowledge of muscles and the human body also cannot be beat - he always knows which muscle hurts when you tell him the area you are sore. He also gives stretches to work on the muscles - he offers a medical level perspective on every massage he gives. You cannot beat this level of knowledge, professionalism, and care when looking for a massage. read more

I have been coming to see Ivo for several years now - I honestly can't say enough good things about him! I love massage: the deeper the better, and Ivo always gets it just right; deep enough to get the work done, but not so deep as to leave me bruised and sore! Another thing I'd like to add about Ivo's massages. Over the years I've had several operations - knee, elbow, disc surgery in my neck. I've seen Ivo after each surgery as soon as appropriate. His knowledge of the human body and his skill in massaging has always been part of my rehab. I highly recommend him! read more

Nothing but good things to say about Ivo. I've been to a few massages now with him and he is really great. Aside from being a very nice guy he is basically a human foam roller. She has a very gentle touch, but can apply a lot of strength if necessary. This was further demonstrated during my second visit. In the course of unpacking/decorating after a move, I'd had a large picture frame hit me in the head and effectively give me whiplash on one side of my neck. When I woke up in pain the next morning, I called her, and she was able to fit me in for an hour the next day, a Sunday (she also had a half-hour slot the same day, but I decided to wait).
