The spa doesn't have a bunch of amenities so all of my time and money was spent on services. I think it's a great value. The lounge has tea, coffee, chocolate and cookies. The staff was very welcoming. The inside is clean and quiet. My massage was well done by Pat. She also did the facial. I got a coupon to extend my next service on the way out. One of the main reasons I booked with this spa was because the online booking system is so easy to use. You can pay a deposit and get all the info you need after hours without making a call. I can't believe it has taken me this long to write a review for Capital Blossom Day Spa. This is the BEST place to get a massage in the city. I started coming here because my fiance and I booked a couples massage, and now I get a massage here once or twice a month. Because my schedule can be pretty inconsistent, I have had the pleasure of having 5 or 6 different staff give me a massage, and I swear, each is better than the last. Anara and LaTeeka are both incredible and know where the tension is in my body more than I do! The front desk staff and the owner are also so kind! This was such an odd experience. I was a walk in because I had a race in the morning. I asked if I could do a walk in foot massage. Interacting with the woman at the front desk was strange. I couldn't hear her and it was like she didn't want to interact with me which is fine. Tell me you don't have appointments today. We did a back and forth for a while before I understood that I could do a thirty minute foot massage. The technician called me back and told me to get undressed and lay face down. I was like for a foot massage? And she was like no You have an hour massage and then a facial, a mom package. I was like no that's not me. She didn't understand and asked me again and I was like no. Then she asked if I'm Maria and I was like no. We go back and forth and she tells me to go back to the lobby and this went on for a couple minutes before it was clarified with the woman from the front desk and I was told to get partially undressed and lay facedown. I did. A technician came in the room and told me to lay on my back. Corrected that. It was uncomfortable to lay back with no pillow. She folded something and put that behind my head. The massage was so strange. It was a lot of Brushing up and down my legs and like. Stroking my feet. I waited a bit and then finally was like you can definitely use as much pressure as you can. It Improved somewhat but was not what I was expecting. The technician was very nice but I'm not coming back. read more

I booked a massage here because it was the closest to my house, had a time slot that wasn't after 7pm (like the other spots I found) and one of the few that was under $150 - $200 for 60 minute massage (only $100 w/o tip). When I arrived, I was immediately greeted and brought to the waiting area to fill out a brief form. While not a big luxurious space like you might find at a hotel, what I wanted was a good massage at a reasonable price and I got that. I had an appointment for a scalp treatment and facial and received services from 2 different estheticians. I wanted to share my concerns with the services received from both. During the scalp treatment and the esthetician massaged my body his hands were extremely cold and wrinkly. When he applied oil to his hands he rubbed his hands near to my face it splashed all over me. When I was told to shower to rinse my hair off the water was extremely cold. There was no instructions or indication if the water would turn any warmer. Since my hair was wet the attempt to massage my head was painful and uncomfortable. My even bigger concern was the facial I received. I routinely get facials and I have never had this experience before. She scrubbed and washed my face so aggressively and every single product used went over my eyelids that I felt the need to keep my eyes held tight shut. I couldn't even share my concern because the product was all over my lips and seeping into my mouth. The steam was so close to my face. And whenever she put a mask on my face I could hear her on her phone - never washing her hands before touching my face again. Again I have never ever received a facial where the products go on my eye lids or excessively over my lips. my lips have progressively gotten more sore through the end of the night and starting to blister. Capital Blossom is a small day spa just off 18th Street in Adams Morgan and a few steps below street level. I've been to spas like this before, where the ambiance is best described as "functional." I arrived a bit early, and they had me fill out a form and took me back immediately. I was introduced to Jackson, the massage therapist, who took me to a room and had me prepare. My massage did come with aromatherapy, lavender or eucalyptus, and I got a quick whiff of lavender before the massage. I was not happy that he tried to upsell me to CBD or other add-ons while I was face down on the massage table. This is something you do beforehand or not at all. I booked online. If I wanted CBD, I would have added it on then. The massage was not too light or too hard, which I appreciate, and I did like the foot scrub at the end. I was a bit startled to have someone come in while he was working on my feet, but it was just the facialist, taking over for him, which is very effective. Most of the time I have a bit of a wait between services. She also tried to upsell me, but maybe a facialist wants to get a look at the client's skin to see what they need. It was supposed to be a microdermabrasion, but she missed that part. Luckily, the salon caught it shortly after I left and refunded the difference. But shouldn't a facialist know what services she's supposed to provide before she greets the client? The staff is super friendly and welcoming. This is what bumps it from 3-1/2 to 4. If you live in or near Adams Morgan, it might be nice for a half day of self-care. If you don't, you may want to find something closer to you. read more

Our add ons were aromatherapy ($10pp), body scrub & wrap with shower($65pp) then the massage (add on 15 minutes). The aromatherapy was a Kleenex they spray and put on your face. The body scrub was the masseuse dry chaffing your body with exfoliating gloves & then putting body butter on you, wrapping in plastic and sent to this very small unclean SHOWER ROOM IN THE WAITING AREA. ZERO PRIVACY! There was other peoples hair on the walls, no body wash provided. I had to ask for a towel. People waiting in chairs while we barely fit the robes. The massage was 3/10, not relaxing at all. Once the massage was over & there is no way we got the time we paid for, there was no buffer period- they wanted to turn on the lights immediately before we even got dressed. I went here for my birthday. My husband had a Groupon and upgraded the services to Include a facial and body polish. The salon is located ground/basement level. The ambiance is very nice, it is as quiet as it can be right off of 18th, and the reception is polite and professional. I was escorted to a treatment room and the body polish was quick and the room was quickly accessible to the shower room across the hall. They provided a bathrobe and slippers and the shower was hot. The massage was lovely, fully relaxing and the pressure was perfect. The facial was fairly good but I would have appreciated a bit more extractions (I was advised that my pores were VERY congested lol). Overall the ambiance was great, I don't know about the facials but to be fair, I was half asleep (or more) by that point. Worst experience at this spot. Went in for a 30 min hydra facial. I literally got 5 minutes of the hydra facial machine used on me. I have had hydra facials done at different location so I knew what to expect but this was not it. After she was done I looked in the mirror and saw my pores were still clogged. It felt like I went in and paid all that money for a face wash. Told the receptionist I wasn't satisfied and she said to me you paid for a 30 min hydra facial and there are other stuff we incorporate in the facial. Yes I understand that but that is why I paid for a hydra facial session not a face wash. So she sent me back with the same lady. It just gets worse. Went back into the same room she went in aggressive on my face with the hydra facial and it was completely dry. As you can see in the photo my face was red and irritated. It started to burn and I told her it's dry there was no water in the machine. So she took me to another room with another hydra facial machine. Keep in mind within the machine there is 3 bottles I'm assuming what contains water. Same issue with this machine it had little to no water inside it. She would try it on my face and then after 2 strokes across my face it was dry and out of water again. I told her again it had no water. I had to keep telling her but she knew it was out. So checked all three containers and it was the same with them all. So I told her to stop and she just said sorry and that was it. I told the receptionist and she said oh sorry but didn't even try resolving the issue. She just gave me a $10 discount and that was it. She even asked me if the technician achieved on fixing my issue. I just looked at her and sarcastically said yeah sure. I wish I hadn't paid for the service that left me in pain afterwards. If you looking for great service with results I recommend Sarah Akram Skincare in Alexandria. Only reason I didn't go here was because they were fully booked and I'm going on a vacation. Oh wow the lies you tell. No water in the machines. If anything your front desk receptionist was rude I came in with a smile and greeted her and the technician. I paid for that service even if it was a poor job. Your service was no wear to being good. The fact that you guys are straight out telling lie is a joke.
