We had such a pleasant encounter with the receptionist, Nicole, from the moment we walked in and were placed with 2 masseuses who were top-tier and gifted with the art of touch. Our couples massage was beyond rejuvenating and serene for each of us and we were truly able to decompress (and leave a lot of muscle knots behind on the table)! We both left feeling SO much lighter, connected within our bodies and to each other, and grateful we accepted the offer to give Unwind another chance. I am so impressed with the level of intention and care that the owner, Antonio, has displayed in making sure that we were in the absolute best hands the second time around. He was very apologetic that we had an off day on our first visit and really turned things a total 180. It's evident that he is passionate about his business, is extremely detail-oriented (the decor is GORGEOUS!), and has strived to exceed the 5-star reputation his establishment deserves. If you're looking for massage therapists who actually do real work, this is the place. I've seen both Helen and Heajin, and they are exceptional in different but complementary ways. Helen is incredible for deep tissue, especially hip work. She goes deep, she's effective, and she is not afraid to work through tension. This is not a light, spa-style massage. It's therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That's part of the technique and something to be aware of if you're new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. If you want thoughtful, strong, therapeutic massage from practitioners who really know the body, I highly recommend Unwind.

NOPE. I asked again. Can you please massage my legs, esp my lower back and hip. She rubbed my neck. I repeated my self... my legs. She rubbed my head. After the fourth time, I gave up. So pissed off. Massage therapist did not speak English so did not know what I was even saying. I found this language barrier issue out when I told the front desk and manager that I was upset b/c she did NOT give me a sports massage. Manager responded. Can you stay and we can work your legs now. I said; NO. I have to go and I don't have time to get undressed again. So annoyed. They gave me a gift cert. Why would I go back to a place that provided crappy service to begin with. Worst massage place I have ever been to. She never asked what I wanted. It was bizarre. The massage felt very "phoned in" and not at all specific to my muscles or needs. A large part of it was just general "rubbing" through the sheet. When she finally got the oil out, even when I could feel her hit a ropey muscle (and she could obviously feel it too) she just skipped it and kept the general rubbing. The scrub and facial were better, but oddly she left the room twice without telling me. I thought I heard the door, which was strange, and finally after about a minute I looked up to find myself alone in the room. Never had that before in a massage or other service. When a person came back and started up again I had no idea if it was her or someone else. And she asked NOTHING about my skin - dry, oily, sensitivities... She didn't know I had contacts in (I wondered if I should tell her, but it was so oddly quiet...). She did know my age (wouldn't she need to know that to know what types of things to use??). But now that I think back on it I realize: they use the same products on everyone I bet. One scrub. One oil. One cream. One lotion. One lip treatment... Nothing at all personalized. My partner got an hour massage and sadly, felt the same. His therapist also never introduced herself. In fact, she never said a word. For both of us, it was clear the therapists had not read our intake forms. The whole place is very "factory-like". While I waiting for my partner to finish, the receptionist assigned a therapist to a massage by saying, "Room one - new client". No name. No details. No info. Not a great experience. Not worth the price. My partner just came up with a great description of the experience - it is like a CAR WASH where you roll up, put your car on the tracks, and roll through. Every car treated the same, rinsed and scrubbed. The car wash of massages.

8/12 - Editing my review to 5 stars given the prompt and professional response below! 8/11 - I found them on Yelp and saw that they were offering 10% off the first massage with them. I went ahead and booked really only because of the promo, which made me "check in" to claim it. They were running a little behind schedule (which was weird be it was only 11 am), but the actual massage I had was great. The therapist's name was Whitney and I would recommend her. After the massage when I went to go pay, the receptionist told me they didn't honor any discounts or promos over the weekend because that was their busiest time. I showed her on my phone the promo code I received and she just looked at me and said, "Sorry, the owner says we aren't allowed to give discounts on the weekend." And then she even showed me a note from the owner. When I told her they should change the Yelp promo to clarify that, she just responded, "Yea, a lot of people complain about that. Sorry I know it kinda sucks." Great massage from the therapist, but horrible customer service and a shady owner. Nothing irks me more than a dishonest business. read more

I had a fantastic first experience with Vital and my first Thai massage! He was extremely knowledgeable and informative and the session was great for my chronic lower back problems. I have had equally excellent treatments from Alison and Marya in the past. While each experience has been different they have all been very beneficial and have instrumental in letting me keep up my running and other exercise regimens pain free into my 50's. /I made an appointment with Allyson at Georgetown Massage and Bodywork today(8/22'2016). I was visiting from out of town and I was shopping with my daughter for her wedding dress. I desperately needed a massage! I was looking for massage services in the area of the stores and I easily found GMB on the internet and I liked the profile and services. I have been going to Alison for several years now. I first started going to her when my company booked her for seated massages. I quickly became addicted to them and moved up to a 60 minute deep tissue massages. I try to get Alison monthly and enjoy every massage I have ever gotten from her. I would not be able to live the active life I want without Georgetown bodywork & massage. I go to power yoga daily and am a full-time student and intern - which means lots of sitting. Jake gives the BEST deep tissue massage and I feel like my muscles are worked in the best way and relaxed after each session. The location is conveniently located in upper Georgetown with plenty of street parking. The massage therapists are professional, knowledgeable, and easy to communicate with. This place is an oasis. As soon as I walk in I feel transformed by the aroma and ambiance, and that sets the tone for a wonderful experience. The therapists seem well trained and knowledgable about all modes of bodywork, and are very professional and courteous. I would recommend this place to the 1st lady, if I knew her. I had a love affair with Thai massage when I lived in Boston, so I was excited to give it a try…read morehere. 5 stars for accommodating a last minute appt and for being accessible by metro. 2 stars for the ambiance (I didn't love the windowless basement vibe, but the mattress on the floor for the massage was unexpected). 2.5 stars for the massage itself. I actually wanted it to end and was glad I didn't do a 90 minute. I have a sensitive back that requires a particular type of masseuse so I think this one just didn't work for me.
