I've been going to Etalon Day Spa regularly (at least once a month) over the last few years. It's a hidden gem in Penn Quarter. The facilities are clean, the staff and masseuses are professional and kind, and their services are very well priced. I've paid much more for luxury hotel spas experiences, but honestly, Etalon is where I continue coming back. Sara L is my favorite masseuse. My goodness best massage of my life - he applied heavy pressure and hit pressure points and concentrated on stretching out my hamstrings which I told him were stiff. After some exercise on snow, my feet and lower back were aching and did a quick search for massages near my work and found Etalon. Reviews looked positive and gave it a shot. Their website scheduling is straightforward and lists their masseuses, an extensive list of them. There are a few reviews who name a few specific masseuses but I made my appt with whoever and ended up with Kay, a name I hadn't seen on reviews but went with it. This may have been the best 60 min massage I've had. My only regret with this booking was that it wasn't longer. Upon entering the spa, the lobby is a cute area that has water and tea available. The receptionist checked me in and soon after, Kay came out to direct me to the private room. She gave good attention to the full body while focusing a little extra on the requested areas of my feet and lower back. In other massages in the city, when I request specific focal areas, they skip non-focal areas which is okay. But Kay managed to do it all within the 60 min (including the complimentary first-visit aromatherapy and hot stones) without any feeling that it was rushed. It was so relaxing that I thought it had to have gone longer. I'm curious how other masseuses are but I'm also hesitant to book with anyone else, knowing Kay can deliver an amazing massage! read more

I went to Etalon Day Spa in Washington DC and had an absolutely amazing experience with james Stamenkovic. When I walked in it was a calming place and friendly. It was beautifully set up, clean and relaxing. James took time to listen to what I needed, explained everything clearly and then gave one of the most relaxing and rejuvenating massages I have ever had. Every motion felt thoughtful and expertly done. I could feel the tension melting away. I left feeling lighter, happier and refreshed. James also has a very calming personality which added to his professonal demeanor. I've been a regular at Etalon since November 2025 and have tried several therapists. Dyon Gibson is outstanding -- genuinely one of the best deep tissue massages I've ever had. He uses only his hands (no elbows), applies incredibly strong pressure, and is attentive to what your body needs. I bought a 5-pack after my first session with him.The inconsistency across therapists is why I'm at 4 stars instead of 5. I've had a couple of female therapists who relied heavily on elbows, even in sensitive areas, which was uncomfortable. Benjamin Pace was a step up -- solid pressure, more skilled -- though he still leaned on elbows at times. If you want strong, hands-only deep tissue, book Dyon specifically.The spa itself is clean, well-located near Gallery Place, and easy to book online. read more

I recently visited Etalon Spa for a massage with Michelle. She was kind and tried to be accommodating, but the experience definitely fell short. She spent way too much time on my upper back to the point I had to ask her to move on due to pain (and even then, she tried to massage those same areas again while I was supine). After that, she rushed through my legs and never even got to my arms. Furthermore, the cadence felt off throughout, making it difficult (if not impossible) to relax. Her technique also relied far too much on elbows and arms (she almost never used her fingers and used the same repetitive arm and elbow jabbing motions for nearly the entire time). Despite asking her to make adjustments a number of times, she never quite got the pressure right. As for the spa itself, it is small but warm, with relaxing lighting, but it's not at all a place for a full spa experience with extensive amenities so if that's what you are looking for, you will most certainly be disappointed. At the end, the front desk staff asked about my visit, but I didn't get the impression she particularly cared about my response. She didn't offer any apologies or acknowledgment about the fact that I did not enjoy my service. Overall, while I acknowledge Michelle's effort, the massage was awful and I won't be returning. read more

This is the perfect place to come get a massage if you are near or around downtown DC. When you walk in the place is very inviting. They have tea, chocolate and water for you to indulge in at the waiting area. The front desk is very nice and so are the therapists. This place has a great ambiance. The rooms are dimly lit and there's relaxing music playing. All the clients were smiling when they finished their massage and got me excited for mine. I fell asleep for mine but that's how you know it was wonderful. My body feels so so much looser and majority of my pain has gone away. My husband and I book a 2 hour couple massage. We were so excited based on reviews. My husband got a 5 star massage but not me. My therapist literally spent about an hour and a half on my shoulders. I had to ask her to stop and move on to my legs. Then she ran out of time to complete the rest because my husband's therapist was done at the time limit. I visited Etalon Day Spa after receiving a gift card from a friend. I booked an appointment about two weeks in advance for a Monday afternoon. I arrived about 2 minutes before the start of my appointment because finding parking was quite challenging. My massage therapist Kim was great, we had to do a few adjustments before getting the pressure right but she got all the knots out and even used some techniques I haven't experienced at other spas. As a new client I got hot stones and aromatherapy oil for free. The oil didn't do much but I loved the stones. Unfortunately I wasn't able to fully relax because the room I was in was right next to the front waiting area so I heard conversations, talking and greeting new arrivals for most of the time I was in my session. I'll return in the future to use the remainder of my gift card and because I liked Kim, but I'm hoping I'm not in the first room. Had a couples massage this week with Alex & Anita and it was fantastic. We both needed someone to really work on our backs and Etalon delivered. It's really difficult to find that balance of being so relaxed that hubs & I fall asleep, while also using enough pressure that it really works out our knots, but both Alex & Anita delivered that. This is definitely going to be our new go-to spot. The spa itself was clean and surprisingly quiet even though it's in a busy area. I also was able to find street parking within 2 blocks, which is gold for that area. The prices are perfectly reasonable for the area, and all of the staff were very nice.
