For those not familiar with the experience, a lot of the time you are unclothed! Once you get over that, you can enjoy the phone free quiet and enjoy the sauna. I got the scrub. This entailed a trip to the locker room, being given 2 small hand towels, and entering the main spa room, which was dominated by a plunge pool with soothing, warm water. There are 2 sauna rooms (steam and dry) and 3 scrub/massage tables. On one of these tables, I got a very thorough scrub down. It didn't hurt, in fact, she was very considerate of an injury I had, but the evidence of sloughed off dry skin was clear. My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to get a couple's massage around Valentine's Day. After a ton of research, we decided on Sun's Day Spa. The prices seemed great for the number of services you can get and the reviews online seemed good as well. This was a completely new experience for us, so we were very confused about what to do. Bring a swimsuit, but know that the spa workers will get up and personal. We began in the steam room and that was super relaxing. We then moved to the tables. There they scrubbed us down for a good 45 minutes. It felt sooooo good. They kept pouring hot water on us. They did a face mask and massaged our heads. I almost fell asleep when we did this. We showered off and then we got a deep tissue massage. The woman who worked on me kept massaging my bone, so that was painful but other than that it was great. We left the spa feeling smooth and relaxed. I'd recommend going here for a fun experience. read more

Update-- hot tub rash. Never had that before, which means their warm pool wasn't properly maintained. Definitely won't be back. ---- Took my mom here as a birthday present. Contemplated btwn this place and Spa World and settled upon this place bc the reviews for customer service were better. We made 10 am reservations for spa + scrub combos, but didn't realize we should've arrived at least 30 mins prior to the appt time to soak first. For the first hour after we arrived, we alternated btwn the warm and cold pools, and hot and wet saunas. We saw the infamous sauna eggs in the hot sauna (which I had to google to discover the significance). Finally, we were beckoned to a private room where the scrubbing commenced. The scrubbers wear some sort of abrasive hand mitts and scrub you down on every part of your body-- every part! You do NOT wear clothes during the scrub, so this isn't for the shy. Once the scrub is complete, they pour huge bowls of water on your body and then you shower and lay down again for the massage portion, if you've elected to get one. The scrubbing is a little painful, but not unbearably so. I was able to close my eyes and relax during. I enjoyed it, but today (two days later), I think I am having some sort of reaction to the either scrub or the cleanliness of the equipment in the facility. Because of this, I likely will not return. Heads up-- you pay before service is rendered, which means they expect a tip prior to service, if you are paying w/ your card. My friends and I visit here together quarterly. The staff is very thorough and the scrubs are amazing. However, today, I opted for a shiatsu massage instead of a scrub. My masseuse was amazing. It was my first time receiving this type of massage but I can say my experience was better than any massage I've received before, even in the 5 Star big name chains I've been to. SPA has changed after COVID. The quality of the SPA packages has changed a great deal: what used to be a good solid SPA #1 is now a glorified scrub/exfoliating with a deceptive inclusion of mini massage. There is no mini massage. It used to be great. Now they don't even have the cold pool available. If you want the same value as before you will be paying closer to $200 plus cash tip. Suns spa was a gem before and now it has been diluted in so many ways with the atmosphere, quality of service not having the same amenities as before. I know things cost more but don't dilute the experience and charge more. You are pushing your long time patrons to check out your competitor across the street. read more

(I've already paid her a tip even before she was assigned to scrub me. So I should've given her a tip at all.) Nice idea to exfoliate the dead skin off your entire body. However, the over-exuberance of the practitioners left me and my friend with actual skin damage. Large swaths of my back and chest look like they've been gone over with a cheese grater! Day 5 after the event, I've treated the areas with corticosteroids, which helped with the pain and itching, but the areas are still sore and now getting scabby. Not exactly what I signed up for. The ladies never missed a chance to "up-sell." An expensive $130 treatment we thought included moisturizers, didn't. As we lay there naked, scrubbed and sore, they offered moisturizing for a mere $40 more. Overall, NOT a good experience. Unnecessary background info: whenever something makes me feel uncomfortable (say, having my naked inner thigh scrubbed by a stranger), I feel compelled to challenge the uncomfortableness. I've lived in Annandale for years and I'm acutely aware of how far from "Asian lady" attractive I am. That added to the fear and trembling. (Kierkegaard, anyone?). But, yesterday I graduated from a difficult college program AND had a really nice guy reject the idea of dating me. Quite a day, eh! So, I felt like, "What would make me feel better and be a part celebration and a part purging?" Oh! A Korean day spa scrub! I'm less about a pound of skin and at least 6 months of bad vibes after sweating my soul out in that heaven of a wet sauna before having the skin and negativity sloughed off my body. Magnificent. I left the spa about 30 minutes ago and I'm still in a bit of a stupor. I'd recommend hitting up Manoa Bakery for a hot green tea latte afterwards. Here's how everything went down: First of all, if there's anything outrageous or disgusting about my body, my spa assistant (? Not sure the right word here) surely did not let on. As every part of my body was being purged of skin, I felt more than an ounce of stress about it then I rapidly switched to "F*ck it. She doesn't care. I don't care. And, it feels like aggressive bliss. Scrub my boobies if you must!" And, that went down. Long story short(er), don't worry about the naked part. I figure if they have 2 customers a day, that's over 700 bodies a year. And, this place has been open more than 5 years and gets more than 2 customers a day. So, your one of possibly tens of thousands. Get over yourself and get into baby-freah skin and crazy relaxation. I took this route (with guidance): 1. Locker. Strip down. 2. Enter spa, shower to the left. 3. Wet sauna (loosen up that skin you're about to lose). Exit sauna. 4. Rinse at shower. 5. Pop in hot tub. 6. Move to one of the tables when the spa-lady beckons. 7. Once in the table, just enjoy and take cues. 8. Wash hair after. 9. Exit spa. 10. Dry hair and dress. I brought my own toiletries based on previous reviewer direction. But, they have everything there. Hygiene-wise, it appears clean to me. There were eggs in the dry sauna. Not sure what that's about. Don't care. The soap for body scrubbing wasn't cute, but it's soap. She scrubbed my face after scrubbing a lot of other parts first...gross? Maybe. But, there's lots of water and soap. So. Don't care. August 2022 Visit | Constructive Feedback! First, I have been visiting this Korean Spa since 2008, that's 14-years of visits. I believe that management has changed. Second, I am very familiar with the detailed "head-to-toe" Korean massage technique for the "face" and "full body." I was used to the "finger pressure technique," especially for my face. You see the facial massage I used to receive alleviated the stored-up stress in my face. I loved it so much that sheer excitement swirled in my eyes once done. The finger pressure applied to my brain and temples during the hair washing and condition experience was also delightful. For that reason, I would take the drive although I do not live in the area where Sun's Day Spa is located. Since 2008, I have been used to paying for the package up front, receiving a key, and a "robe." My August visit, I did not receive a robe when I asked. The female said it was due to COVID-19. I shook my head and proceeded to the locker room. However, when I was getting dressed, I saw females who entered the locker room with robes in their hands. I was like "wow!" All visitors should receive a robe once they pay for a package. There should be no discrimination and a lame statement about COVID-19. My eyelids fell as I tried to calm my racing heart. Sun's Day Spa must remember that "customers" keep the spa "open" and everyone should be treated equally and with kindness. Lastly, the female's frown deepened on her face as she gazed at the $20.00 tip, which was a little more than 15% for the $130.00 spa package. I fixed a SNOOTY gaze on the female and dropped white hand towel on the wooden bench in locker room and got dressed. Went here because it was long overdue for a scrub of doom. I'm too lazy to go out to Cville and decided to finally try Sun's. I've been eyeballing this place for some time and I'm the Guinea pig for my friends. I liked the place a lot! I'm used to getting my ass kicked at Korean spas so I was ready to get scrubbed within an inch of my life. I paid $120 for my scrub including admission. The manager told me that I would get the $130 scrub and don't worry about the $20 entrance fee. Word! You have to tip upfront where at SpaWorld you don't tip the scrub queens. I know it would be good so I gave a good tip. I was given a robe, two towels, toothbrush, and key bracelet. The woman's locker room is small. There's over 20 lockers that you can store your stuff. They have extra shower caddys for your toiletries to take into the shower/bade pool area. They had a water dispenser. There's only one toilet FYI. The shower/bade pool room has a giant heated tub in the middle.l and a cooler pool to the back. There's a caddy with additional toothbrushes and toothpaste. Multiple giant bottle of shampoo and conditioner and bowls with Dial body soap. Up to you if you use it. I brought my own stuff. All of the showers are lined up on the left, the sit down ones are to the far right. There are two steam rooms. One is the dry saunas do the other is the steam room. Both are super hot! I suggest Bringing in one of your towels to sit in the dry sauna. You don't want to sit on the hot wood (twss). Yes, there are eggs in cartons in there, did igafos? No. This isn't Elizabeth Arden, get over that the eggs aren't touching you and you're not going to mutate! I got to soak for 30 minutes and then the scrub began. There are three tables for the scrub down. The ajima scrubbed every inch of my body (not my lady bits, don't be scurred) and I was flipped around multiple times. I have to say she was much more thorough than the ajimas at SpaWorld. I got massaged with oil and honey, cucumber face mask, hair washed, and exorcised. She didn't speak much English but knew how to give instructions so you could understand. I'd come back again because it's close and the service is good. Both times I came I was the only person there. The first for the scrub the other to just chill. It was nice. Wouldn't mind to see how the atmosphere change when there's other humans there. Also the manager she can paint! I have been here twice and it was worth the money. For $100 you can soak in the hot and cold pools and use the dry and steam saunas. Then the older Korean women in bra and panties and hands of steel scrub all of your skin off and then give you a deep tissue massage on your face and body. Afterward, your skin will glow, your hair will feel soft, and the tightness in your muscles will be gone. However, during the scrub and massage you will wonder "I'm really paying someone to abuse me like this??!!" Warning: this is not for the modest as everything is done without clothes. Reluctant to review this place, but only because I'd like to keep it to myself. I've been to a number of spas and one of my favorite services is a salt-scrub or some other exfoliation treatment. This place is no frills but delivers exactly what everyone wants: results at reasonable rates. Note from other reviews that treatments are in a communal room. Importantly, you should expect to be completely naked with a bunch of strangers. If that sounds like torture, then this place probably isn't for you. I purchased admission to the spa ($20) and a full body massage ($80). Pros: Massage from Joanne was awesome. I was brought into a dimly lit room with relaxing music and she got started right away. She wastes no time and is super nimble when she gets to the stepping portion of the massage. I laughed so hard when she would pushed a certain spot on my back and my upper body just lifted up and she jokingly asked "where are you leaving to?" Besides her good sense of humor, she is an excellent masseuse and my body feels lighter. Advice: Literally relax all your muscles and do not tense up when she's working on you, because she is one strong woman! She is knowledgeable on where to massage, strong, hardworking and makes every minute really count. I returned today post Covid . It was amazing. Clean and safe. They haven't increased their prices and may even have some specials .This might be long as I am considering those who may have never gone to a true Korean spa. This one is frequented by a majority Korean population it's very authentic. Do you need an appointment? If you make one you don't really need to be there at a certain time. Weird right? I called and they said to come. It took me 45min to get there. The area for women is huge so unless it's slammed you will be fine. Please call if you need a specific time and day but you can call the same day and see if you can come in. I don't go on the weekends so keep that in mind. If you can go on a weekday I highly recommend it. What to take with you? I take clean clothes, deodorant, sunblock if I am going in the daytime. That's all you need. I have a lot of hair so I take my hair products and a wide tooth comb. What to get? I go with the #3 or #5. They go up from $100 in $10 increments up to I think $200. So mine are either $130 or $150. When you go in choose, go to spa area. You get a key to the locker , put your things in and let's go. You take a shower and they provide everything but I usually take my own shampoo , I put a hair mask on and then I am off to the steam room. There is a sauna, steam room, hot pool and cool pool. Today the sauna and cold water were not in order. I think it's Covid related . If they are open this is what I do : Sauna/cold pool/steam room/ hot pool. Today I did steam/ cold shower/ hot pool. I am Eritrean. I hate anything cold. However, the cold pool is a must . Once you get in and it still after a few seconds it's actually amazing. Even if they say they are ready for you please do at least one pass of this. It will help with the scrub. Now you get on the bed, face down and then they go to work. These gloves are lethal and effective. I have been to every fancy spa you can imagine. They put products on you and that's what is being scrubbed off. Here it's just a little soap and what comes off is Linda of dirt. There is a scale you can actually check this. Then they have you to the side. The other side. On your back. You will lay there apologizing for you dirt and questioning your life. I am quite clean I swear but not Korean scrub clean. I wish I could have take a pic of that pandemic dirt.This process thats quite a bit. It doesn't hurt but it doesn't feel good . Hang in there- joy is coming. I love the way they wash your hair. The conditioner is applied in a way that is more like a massage.Lots of washing and a shower while the bed is being cleaned .Depending on your package the massage will include honey, aromatherapy oil and sea salt. The purpose here is to return moisture to your body. This feels great. Again depending on the package, cucumbers are freshly cut and placed on your face mask. Milk, honey, cucumbers . Hot towels more massaging. At this point you are so clean and moisturized you are on cloud 9. When it's done you go back to the change room. You do not need any lotion although they provide some. There are combs, quips, new toothbrushes and some hairspray . I put my deodorant on and some leave in conditioner after I comb my hair with my wide tooth comb. If it's sunny outside I'll put some sunblock on. This is rare because I try to go no earlier than 3/4pm. The entire process - 30min before the scrub and 20/30min for after. The actual scrub will take at least 1.5hr to 2hrs. It can be faster if you don't do the rounds but why deny yourself? When you are done I promise you all you want to do is co to us to relax. You will sleep like a baby. Please but the illegally smuggled gloves on your way out they are either $5 or $10 to keep the scrubbing going at home. MEN have their own menus ($150 package is what my brother & boyfriend get) and their own private area. They have a sauna and a steam room in there. This is also the same room that couples can use. I don't know what the price for that package is because I never ever go with my BF. He does it on his own. This is me time. This is work The men get disposable shorts which allow them to get to everything without them being naked. You definitely need an appointment for men and couple appointments. I am a teacher so we have a 12 days vacation, yay! I always go pamper myself when I get a chance. I used to go to Hani Joa Spa but they permanently closed. So, I drove all the way from MD to Annandale, VA to try this korean scrub & massage. OMG! It was the best scrub ever. Kay did not leave any spot in my body. I felt like I was exorcised. In my mind, "Is it over yet?" kay is amazing, she has so much energy and knows what she is doing. The part that I like the most is the hot sauna. Having Chronic pain, it really helped my muscles relax. After the scrub, she massaged me with honey for an additional charge. When done, my skin feels so smooth. I will definitely come back maybe every 2 months. I also like the other shops there. I was able to buy a yummy cake for Christmas from Shilla Bakery. I usually go to Hani Joa in Falls Church. A few important things to be aware of here. While sitting for a minute in the hot room saw the mitts they scrub you with sitting out to dry plus a swim bikini outfit that's worn by the employees. The very unsanitary thing is I wondered if the mitt had already been used. Even if there wasn't any Corona virus this is a big NO-NO! The mitt is used to remove the dead skin (think about it). I saw the foot stone that was used on me and asked the employee to move it off the area I was in. Saw long dark hair on it (not mine). Not sure how it stayed on, but gross. Unfortunately, I only found 1 other place to get a Korean scrub nearby. Lockers look as if they need to be wiped out- musty smell. I didn't use the hanger in it for my clothes. Maybe buy New mitts for your visit? If possible- do it. Bring flip flops none are provided for you which is better (cleaner). They hand you a new blue face mask. They have medium sized towels to use and it took 3 of them to completely dry off. When I finally Relaxed I was asked about a TIP. Timing is everything, I didn't let this ruin my experience but it did annoy me. I wanted to let my hair down for 90 minutes. I'll mention it to owner because this is a real deal breaker. I spoke with the employee and asked her to finish the massage and to relax -I had money. Massage is good but could use some improvement. As with most things there is a wrong time and a right time to ask about such things. I may give the other place I mentioned a try because the experience here leaves a lot to be desired. If they ask, have you visited before? Say YES. She almost shortened my time near the middle of the service but I asked why she didn't scrub my other side? Since it was my 1st time I chose to go with the basic $110 body scrub package. I also knew that bringing along cash for a tip is the way to go. I loved the body scrub - my goodness they cover every single square inch on your body! They don't miss a single crevice. They will leave you softer and cleaner than you've ever been in your whole life!! However, keep in mind the Korean women working in the back do not speak English. At least not while I was there. Maybe at other times they do? I'm not sure. They were trying to ask me if I wanted to upgrade on my services. I said no initially, but they kept asking me. I finally agreed to the $20 upgrade on the "milk & honey" bath at the end. When I was checking out they wanted to charge me $40 extra dollars. $20 for warm milk and $20 honey. I told the owner there was a misunderstanding. I agreed to $20 up-charge, not $40. I felt kind of blindsided and uncomfortable at the end. I came with a budgeted amount for my services and a good amount of cash to tip well. But I hadn't planned to spend an extra $40 on the spot for milk & honey. Was the entire experience worth it? YES. 100% because my skin felt amazing afterwards. The body exfoliation process is something that one could never ever replicate at home. Never, ever. These people are experts!!! You can literally see the chunks of dead skin coming off your body as they're working on you for 1+ hour. Totally **gross** but transparent and true. Just laying out the facts. Here's my advise: look over the menu or pre-decide online. Know what you want done before you go into the back bathhouse AND verbalize to the English speaking staff at the front. So I soaked in their tub then went in the steam room and the lady came and got me for my scrub. This place is small but has everything you need, the womens locker room is small, you get a key that you keep on your wrist. They have 6 showers and a sauna. I was happy with my service. They don't speak english but I did get the honey and milk extra, they sliced up the cucumbers right there for my mask. I enjoyed my scrub and I would come back. Kay gave me a body scrub this afternoon and she is so, so good. The body scrub, which includes shampoo, conditioner, and face wash, was $60 and took about 45 minutes. At 3:15 pm on a Sunday all three scrub tables were taken, one by me, and the others by two other women. Everyone seemed to be having an amazing time, laughing and whatnot. I love love love this spot. It isn't for the modest but it is for the recessionista we've all become. I'm talkin killer bang for your buck. You will leave feeling cleaner, softer, and without a single knot in your neck or back. I am not one to write reviews. But, this is such a special place, I wanted to share my experience. I had never heard of a Korean scrub until recently. I found Sun's through an Internet search and must admit, I wondered what I was getting myself into. Except for those at the desk, no one seemed to speak English, but they were very patient with me and for first time visit, it still was worth highly recommending. I think it is important to note this is not a place you go to be pampered. I went because after the long winter, my skin was dry and I was hoping to have a fresh start to the spring/summer. I was not disappointed. Lisa, was the lady who scrubbing every inch of me for over 45 minutes. I was beginning to think she would never stop at one point! I showered and then she gave me a wonderful massage that drenched me in oil. Cold cucumber that has blended is placed on your face and neck and is wonderful! My hair was washed with a scented shampoo and then, as a finish, milk was poured all over me. I then I showered again. It is important to come 45 minutes before your appointment so you can sign in, get undressed and soften your skin in either one of their saunas or the heated pool. I had picked the basic ladies package of $110 and after all of the effort and care Lisa gave me for over an hour-and-a-half, I tipped her $30 and felt it was worth every penny. I was doubly glad, when I saw how appreciative she was. I am sure other ladies there are wonderful too, but I will request Lisa again and I probably will try the next higher package just to see how it is. My heels that I work so hard to keep soft were noticeably softer. As I expected, my skin was irritated for a-day-or-so from the scrubbing, similar to any serious exfoliation process would. As other have mentioned, next time I will bring my own shampoo and soap, since I have a preference to certain products. If you wear contacts, make sure to bring a case and solution, you will not want to have them on with all of the water and oil that will literally be dumped on you. I plan to do this again in a few weeks before I go on vacation, and will add this to my personal care routine probably every month for a while and then maybe less often. Will see how it goes. Others have mentioned this, you will we openly nude and scrubbed with little concern for modesty. At first I was a little uncomfortable with it, but quickly realized no one else could care less, and got over it. I am not sure I would want to do this with my friends. Some kinds of things are just best not shared! ;-) The place was very clean and I felt they did their best to provide an authentic service that you will not find anywhere else that I know of. I think I have a problem. I love being manhandled by these Korean women! Let me explain. I first went here with my girlfriend Tamara like four years ago. I'm not sure what inspired us to go here as I wasn't even learning Korean at that point. Random occurance. But so awesome. After we giggled our way through getting naked together we ventured into the tub/sauna room and tried to figure it out. I'm still not entirely sure what the deal is but i thiiiink it's shower, soak in the big tub a while, go in the wet sauna a while, go in the dry sauna a while, repeat. I'm thinking this loosens up your skin for the scrub (sounds awful, but is amazing - don't hate). For the scrub/massage/whatever else you get you basically get on this metal table and the korean women go to town on you. They are STRONG. and I love it. They scrub off tons of skin which is both mezmerizing and disgusting all at once. Then once they're done thoroughly sloughing your body (there is no room for modesty here, people), they begin the massage. Don't expect a nice relaxing massage, guys, this is intense. I don't mind it but I think I've been the closest to crying out in pain at this place. I had bruises on my thighs last time, which I'm cool with. Obviously that was just something that had to happen haha The ladies who are working your body over don't really speak much english. Since I'm learning Korean I parsed together a few sentences for them and they became much more comfortable. Then they started laughing with us and chatting as much as we could and giggling at my attempt at using Korean. All in all I really enjoy my time at this place and I highly recommend it! read more
