Ms Paris is very knowledgeable about all skin types and can immediately tell you about the journey of your skin by carefully asking questions and examining your face. I felt seen while visiting her and my skin felt nourished when I left. I would highly recommend this spa to anyone desiring great service. The staff was incredible and yes, there were other estheticians onsite so I'm sure that they're all good. They do sell products so feel free to indulge in your next best skincare routine. I wish I could give this place a 4.5 not just 4 stars. I truly enjoyed my birthday spa day at this day spa. I was gifted with their face and body combo. My first time going to a spa! Location: I had a little difficulty locating the spa but that was my own fault because of the area. It's located above a dog store called Doggie Style which threw me off. You have to go up the stairs and then choose the door on the left. The very kind receptionist was able to turn me back around to get to my appointment on time. Service: The face and body combo includes a facial, seaweed body wrap and massage. I upgraded the facial to a microdermabrasion. Paris did my face service and it turned out to be greatfor my skin. She was down to business, not too talkative but very kind. She was the one that looked at my chin and was able to let me know/confirm digestive issues. At that time I was dealing with food poisoning and it was showing up all on my face through the microscope (still irate with that vegan spot--see other review for that). My skin/face looks so good right now. I also had a massage and body scrub done by a lovely female massage therapist. I couldn't get the seaweed wrap because I have a shellfish allergy. I thoroughly enjoyed both services and she was amazing, I didn't want to get up. Price: so, this is the only reason I gave the spa 4 stars--I wish I could give 4.5 though. My friend was quoted a certain price and so was I when the appointment was booked. But apparently when my friend arrived to pick me up after my services, she was told a mistake was made in calculating the price and it would be significantly more. She was given a 10% discount for the mistake. I hate that this happened and would have preferred for the spa to stick with the price quoted to avoid surprising my friends with a much higher bill. Or I wish that the mistake would've been caught earlier - maybe when they were doing reminder calls or emails. I would suggest confirming the final price before your appointment. I discovered this place a year ago when I first moved to DC and have not been disappointed yet! When I moved here from NY my skin behaved badly. I made an appointment with Paris, the owner, and told her my concerns. She analyzed my skin, made some recommendations, and gave me the best 90 minute facial I've ever had! I continued to go to Paris once a month for 7 months and my skin was velvety smooth and clean!!! I stopped going because I told myself I didn't need it. Boy o boy.... fast forward to today 6 months later and here I am with my misbehaving skin. Paris took one look at me and knew immediately what needed to happen to address my skin issues. She administered a mild peel and gave me an oxygen facial and vitamin C treatment. My skin is velvety smooth again and I've already scheduled my 6 week follow-up to continue treating my clogged pores. She is phenomenal and highly professional. My only issue here is the front desk staff isn't the best with the exception of Dana who is wonderful. I recommend the facials, body massages, and the products they offer here. I went to Paris Alexander Day Spa on 9/17/20. I was at my wits end with my skin. Wearing a mask every day has wrecked havoc on my face and my hormones were all over the place. I had been struggling with cystic acne since July 2020 and none of my usual skin care remedies worked. With every pimple that went away, two more painful pimples would replace it. I shared my skincare journey with Paris and that I had a date coming up on Sunday and was open to her recommendations. Paris did a Vitamin A infusion treatment on my face and today, 3 days later, 9/20/20, I've seen a 75 percent improvement of my skin. The majority of the cystic acne has dried up and flattened. BEWARE! Do not give your credit card information! This was my experience. I called with an inquiry a couple days ago, and the woman on the phone proceeded to pressure me into giving my credit card information in order to "lock in my appointment" to which I responded that I would have to call her back after speaking with my fiancé. (I was calling a few places and wanted to discuss the charges with my fiancé first bc I plan on having multiple sessions over the next few months until the wedding) - She then calls me back to tell me that she had "put me into the system anyway" explaining that it was a "placeholder" so that if I were to call back and confirm, the spot was held. Mind you, I told her that I would call back with my credit card info when I was ready. She then proceeds to call me the FOLLOWING SUNDAY saying that I owed them money. She then tried to go into a full blown chastising session about whether I "understood" why I have to pay them money. I felt very bullied and manipulated. She tried to strong arm the sale and employ less than honorable tactics to extract money for services NOT RENDERED. On top of this she was extremely disrespectful, full of attitude, and condescending. Quite frankly there are too many places in DC to choose from to gamble with this place. THANK GOD, I didn't give her my credit card information. A spa should be an expense women look forward to and should be treated with care and understanding from beginning to end. Paris Alexander Day Spa is a quaint salon tucked inside a house. It's easy to miss as there's no ostentatious signage outside of the building. I was a bit thrown off by how tiny the salon was. It consists of a couple of treatment rooms, a bathroom, and a nail salon in the back. I even glimpsed what looked like a disheveled laundry room on my way to the restroom. The facial was standard. My esthetician (and owner of the spa) Paris wasn't chatty, which I liked because I don't like anything messing with my sense of zen when I'm at the spa. I was fine with all the products she applied to my skin except for the one that smelled like pine-scented household cleaner. I fell asleep during the facial and was awoken by the sound of someone entering the room and rifling through the drawer. I was completely annoyed by this. I give Paris Alexander Day Spa a 2.5. I got a decent facial, but my visit wasn't as relaxing as I'd hoped it would be. read more

She offered me tea and water while I waited and reading material. About 10 minutes before my facial was scheduled to start, I was ushered to my room. I changed into a robe and I was given time to relax before the services commenced. Paris (the owner) performed my facial and Gladys performed the massage. Both women were very professional and gave me excellent service. Paris focused on my problem areas and offered extraction and micro dermabrasion. The overall experience was quite nice. The spa is a relaxing nook in the middle of a busy city. You can tell it's a small business (which I prefer so I'm not just a number) with a devoted clientele (which means people like the service and employees). The price is also a selling point too - my spa combo was extremely reasonable. I booked a hot stone massage here as a birthday gift to myself. The shop is small, but well decorated. I filled out an intake form upon arrival (I was really glad they included a portion of the form that asked where I preferred to not be touched) and was then led to the back. I think my masseur's name was Benny. He was an older Black/African-American gentleman with glasses. I'd never had a massage done by a man, but he was the only one available for the day/time/service I booked, so I gave it shot. I ended up enjoying my treatment. He was friendly, checked frequently to make sure I was comfortable (definitely necessary for the hot stones), and described the whole process elaborately before and during service. I wanted to get a facial near my new office, and wasn't sure where to go. Thankfully, Spa Week rolled around right on time. I did a search on the Spa Week website, and came up with this day spa. It was a little confusing -- Paris Alexander at Lillian Laurence?! Is that one spa or two? I know I had heard of Paris Alexander spa before, so even though I didn't really know what was going on, I went ahead and booked this appointment. Paris Alexander spa is in fact inside Lillian Laurence, Ltd. The two spas each have their own reception desk right next to each other. It turns out I wasn't imagining things -- Paris Alexander DID used to have its own space, over on 18th Street above the Candey Hardware store. But that building didn't renew their lease, and in an effort to stay in the area until they can find the perfect new location, Paris Alexander decided to rent space at Lillian Laurence. The situation here in this new space is cramped -- the room used for my facial had several tables in it, separated by folding screens. But the table was very comfortable, and as nice as any I've lain on. The equipment was definitely high-end, as were the products -- Sothys and G.M. Collin. Paris Alexander herself did my facial. I like her -- she's not chatty like some facialists. She was happy to answer my questions, but most of the time the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Her hands were sure, and the facial itself was perfectly competent -- thorough, with nothing unexpected. Plus, she gave me a great hand and arm massage while my masque was setting up. When we were done, she showed me a moisturizer she recommended for me, but there was no hard sell. I bought it because it felt great. She also gave me a goody bag with a magazine and some literature. Seeing as Paris Alexander is one block from my office, and that I know for sure she can give me a lovely facial in 50 minutes, I'm sure I will come back in the future. I'll keep my fingers crossed that she finds a suitable new space for her business that isn't too far away. read more

Horrific experience. Look at the pictures to see the wound Paris gave me! I went in for a facial. It didn't feel like she was extracting gunk up out of my pores - but rather, that she was pushing her fingers down into my skin, in the way that I would if I were squeezing zits myself - aka, pushing the gunk down even deeper. Afterwards, she and her staff member strongly encouraged me to buy a set of facial products - I should have just said no, so it's partially my fault, but I felt pressured. My face felt raw and irritated but I hoped it would look better the next day. Well, you can see the pictures I've posted of what my face looked like! Not only did my skin look terrible overall, but she took off a layer of skin on my chin and I had a huge red wound. When I called and told her receptionist what happened, she said she didn't know what they could do, as Paris was out on vacation. Finally the receptionist texted me to say they'd refund me, could provide me with a small trial sample of an antibiotic salve to help the damaged skin heal, and would schedule me for another appointment, "so Paris can try to make it better." It was very unprofessional - not only was she texting me (at one point she said "lol"!), but she also said that she could *maybe* bring the antibiotic salve to me, if she ended up going to see her friend that lived near me that night for dinner. Wouldn't you think she'd either commit to bringing it to me (sparing me the details of her personal life) or tell me I'd need to pick it up? I told her I'd come to get it, but that I didn't want Paris to touch my face again - and she said that in that case, if I wasn't going to continue seeing Paris, Paris wouldn't give me the salve! Pure professionalism, welcoming staff, excellent service. As I was waiting in the reception, I was offered champagne, chocolates, tea, and other little edibles. Paris Alexander did my facial and after my facial she gave me advice on my acne and recommended a few services but did not pressure me, which is something that I like. The massage was great as well. What I appreciate about this business is the intimacy and the ability to develop a personal relationship with the staff. I came here last Tuesday, but wanted to wait to be sure I didn't have any side effects of the treatment on my face. I have to say I loved this! I am so glad I took my friend's recommendation! I am *not* typically a facial-goer. Reason is: I have had some pretty bad experiences with facials at another establishment in DC and I swore off of them. But I had a solid recommendation from a friend and I called up Paris Alexander Day Spa. First reason I enjoyed this spa was that I called in and Dana answered the phone and was very helpful and patient with all my questions. At that moment, Paris was available to answer my more specific questions like what to expect, what treatments she might suggest based on my skin history, and I felt very confident that she was the expert. She spoke in a calm tone so again, I felt that she was not trying to rush me or push me or anything. So I scheduled my appointment for that week and again had more time to talk to Paris before anything went on my face and I again felt that I could trust her with all her suggestions. decided on Deep pore facial without extractions. Second reason why I enjoyed this experience was that Paris listened to me and addressed all my questions and concerns (without pointing out my flaws or severely critiquing my skin, like the other place had done!!!). She was gentle and added steam, ointments, masques, etc, and a little bit of gentle extraction. But as we had decided that she wasn't going to do deep extractions, I was happy with the results. (Extractions usually mean that your entire clogged pore --pimple, whitehead, blackhead-- will be popped and usually left red or bleeding). Paris also educated me on my different blemishes. When the facial was over, I could tell how moisturized and CLEAN my face was. Granted, I had no makeup on, so it was a little bit blotchy, but that seemed normal. A week later, I am seeing that my pores where I had big pimples are no more. Spa Environment: very relaxing Room: quiet, perfect lighting and perfect soft tranquil music, perfect temperature. Also had foot pillow and blanket. Service: impeccable. There sometimes is a Yelp check-in special you can redeem. I agree the prices are not *super* cheap, but they are lower than the competition (it is DC after all), but for Paris's service, I think this is a great deal! read more

I bought a mini spa day package that came with a massage, facial, and mani/pedi. The location is convenient and only about a 5 minute walk from the DuPont circle metro stop. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately by the receptionist and my massage therapist promptly took me into the treatment room. Unfortunately my massage was not relaxing at all, and I couldn't wait until it was over. My therapist took a call on her cell phone about 5 minutes in, while still continuing to proceed with the massage. Unlike any massage I've ever received before, she massaged the cleavage area and stomach which sort of skeeved me out. Next was the facial, I explained my skin type and what I was looking to get out of this service. The procedure was very relaxing, but my face was very red when it was done and the next day, I noticed that blood vessels were broken. Finally I had the mani/pedi which was the best part of the package. It was your typical mani/pedi and the woman who did it was very friendly and my nails looked good! Based on the positive reviews that Paris Alexander received, I was expecting to have a very relaxing experience. I'm not sure if they were having an off day but it left me very disappointed and I will not be returning or encouraging anyone to visit. read more

After deciding I need to take the afternoon from work and give myself a well deserved treat, I wen to Paris' for a manicure & pedicure. This was my first time at their new location and it's still great service. Paris Alexander greeted me when I arrived and also said goodbye, which I think is a personal touch that many business owners have lost. The nail esthetician was nice, professional and did an EXCELLENT job with my cuticles (very particular about that kind of thing). The atmosphere was JUST what I needed- quiet and relaxing. They use an amazing scrub on the feet that left my heels feeling like a new born baby! I was very pleased with my service. I hope to return for a facial this month with Paris. Note- REALLY pay attention to the addresses on the buildings because I almost walked past it because there isn't really a sign outside, at least not until you walk up the steps almost to their front door. read more
