This is the Hi, Skin location that made me cancel my membership. I originated at Mosaic (go there!!) and ended up doing most of my treatments here on 14th for convenience for multiple reasons. The experience difference between the two locations is night and day. This location is glorified spa night you could do at home, there's a ton of downtime where you're just sitting under a light or with a mask. At the other location in VA, they're actively working a lot of the time frame you're with them- more massage, lymphatic drainage, more gentle and thorough extractions. If you don't do an add on or buy a product they genuinely treat you worse or act really annoyed- even though you're already spending over $120 on monthly service. I cannot recommend this location compared to the service and experience you receive at another location of the same chain. read more

Sadly this place didn't work for me on many levels. When I arrived - a few minutes early for my facial, no one acknowledged me. No hi. No hello. No we will be right with you. It's very impersonal and you just check in on an iPad. 5-7 minutes went by. Still no eye contact. No smile. Nada. Finally - 5 min after my appointment time my aesthetician called my name. She was nice enough but I was completely underwhelmed by the facial. We were done in 45 min and my skin looked okay but not sure it was worth the money or the lack of warm reception. I'm also not sure how to relax in an open setting. The client next to me had a very loud conversation the whole time so that was pretty intrusive. At the end I declined a future visit and the pretty pricey suggested products. I won't likely be back. read more

On Friday I was looking at my dull skin and googled "facial near me" and both Hi, Skin and Heydey popped up. Hi, Skin had an appointment in an hour and so there I went. I didn't know anything about it before I arrived and at first was kind of taken aback by the boisterous, open atmosphere, especially as someone who went to Silver Mirror for over a year. I think if you embrace Hi, Skin for what it is and not expect a relaxing spa experience, then you can really enjoy it. The atmosphere was actually fun for a Friday evening and I ended up enjoying the energy and interacting with some other customers. My esthetician was Chrissy and she was great. We talked about my skin the products I'm currently using (she knew all of them) and she had some great recommendations but I didn't feel like she was trying to upsell me on anything. She had an amazing facial massage technique and pressure and also did a little shoulder massage (after asking) while a peel sat on my face. First, the receptionist was very hospitable, welcoming, and professional. She immediately greeted you as you walked through the door. Next, the facility was clean and very blue-no literally blue decor was actually calming with the right balance of music, mirrors, and a cooling ambiance. Shoutout to my estheticians Jenay! She knew her stuff and started off our session by asking about my skin care routine, inquiring about details on the products used (hint to walk with your products because she asked a lot about ingredients to determine what was causing dryness). After the consultation, she got to work on my skin and explained the process every step of the way. I left with a glow and bag full of items I purchased for post care. I went to Hi, Skin as a treat to myself but also because I really wanted to understand my skin. Check in was easy. My appointment started about 15 minutes late but the ambiance is light but fun. It's not a typical spa vibe, think more hair salon. I still found it a good mix of relaxing but upbeat Raegan took her time to hear my concerns and evaluate my skin. She built a treatment for today and then ended with some product recommendations. Be mindful they will try and upgrade to pricey add ons. I visited Hi Skin yesterday with a friend. When we first arrived, the place looked nice and inviting, but as soon as I realized we'd be getting our facials out in the open, I knew it wasn't going to be a relaxing experience. There was no privacy or calming atmosphere, which immediately took away from what should've been a self-care moment. My friend's experience was okay -- her aesthetician was friendly, asked a few questions about her routine, and gave her a decent facial. Nothing remarkable, but at least it was pleasant. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. From the start, my aesthetician (Marissa) told me my skin was "extremely tight and congested" and immediately tried to upsell me a *soothing infusion* add-on, even though I had only booked a basic facial. When I declined, she insisted that I should "really invest in how my skin feels, not just how it looks." Throughout the facial, she continued to make comments about my skincare routine, telling me I should "know what I'm putting on my face" when I couldn't remember the exact name of my serum. I also requested blackhead extractions, and she said I didn't have many but that the ones on my right cheek couldn't be removed because my skin was "too tight and inflamed." Ironically, I woke up this morning with a visible red mark on that same cheek from her attempt. During the massage portion, she mentioned my face was "so tense," but the experience didn't feel relaxing at all -- just uncomfortable. At the end, when she asked how my skin felt, I was ready to leave. I touched my cheek and she scolded me, saying, "Don't touch it, your fingers are dirty." I regularly get facials in San Francisco, and I've NEVER been treated this way. Even when aestheticians have skin-related feedback, they communicate it kindly and professionally. This experience felt judgmental, pushy, and overall unpleasant. To top it off, upon checkout we were pushed to buy several products we didn't want. I went in hoping for a relaxing, fun experience with my friend -- instead, I left feeling disrespected and with irritation and redness I didn't have before. Oh and before I forget, she even asked me if something had happened to my forehead because of a small bump, which upon touching my face anybody would know that it is literally my natural bone structure. Why would you ask someone that? Businesses like this need to do better -- focus on care, not upselling or criticism. read more

I arrived for my facial a few minutes early and was promptly greeted and checked in for my appointment. The building is an open area concept, with the chairs/mirrors located right next to each other, so if you're looking for a tranquil, private experience, this isn't it. It has a trendy vibe on the inside, with ambient lighting and current music playing overhead. My esthetician for my Really Good Facial was Lauren. She was fantastic! Before the facial, I told her my concerns, and she made some recommendations based on my responses and the condition of my skin. While there does seem to be a push to upsell there products and services, it's not overly pushy or annoying. I thoroughly enjoyed my facial. I heard of Hi, Skin on IG from an influencer reel. It was my birthday weekend and I was able to book an appointment around 4:45pm for a 6pm appointment on a Friday. I entered and was promptly greeted by the receptionist was was very kind. The space is very cool and bright with the colors. My aesthetician was Aisha and to start, her skin was FABULOUS. As someone who does not wear makeup, it's what I wish my skin could be. We got started and Aisha was very informative about my skin type and got to werk on those extractions. I have never seen a pimple tackled so well. There was not a bump in sight because she was able to get the head out. I was only left with a bit of scabbing that came off a few days later. The customer service was great! I will say the open concept makes it more of a skin bar opposed to spa. Based on the experience, I would recommend this to someone seeking consistent facials at an affordable price. I received a facial on August 8th and TWICE the technician got facial cleanser in my eyes. I didn't complain initially because I trusted her and thought that was part of the process. She left me there for 10-15 minutes unattended and said she'll put me under the red light therapy. During the entire appointment, the tech kept trying to upsell me products instead of focusing on a proper facial. When I got home my eyes were super irritated and blurry. I called your location 2-4 times to complain, but my calls always rolled into voicemail. I have emailed the store once, then escalated it to the regional and corporate HQ. I have disputed this with my bank. Horrible experience and I will never return again. I took a chance with your business because Heyday was booked full that day. Truly a disappointment. read more

Unfortunately, that's not what happened at Hi Skin. I booked a 30-minute Face Warm Facial, and while my appointment started on time at 12:30, it ended abruptly at 12:52. After spending more than 5 minutes talking about products and expectations, the actual facial lasted barely 15 minutes. It felt more like a product pitch than a professional treatment. When I raised my concern, the receptionist offered a 10% discount--which does not reflect the fact that nearly half of the service was missing. I followed up by email requesting a fair resolution (a 50% refund), and the owner never bothered to respond. No accountability, no customer care. This felt like a bait-and-switch: take your money, rush through a service, and try to upsell products instead. For the price they charge, this level of service is unacceptable. The facial was decent and my facialist had a great, firm touch for the massage elements of the service, but... it was a 60-minute service which started late, and ended early. They claimed that the service is supposed to take 50 minutes, with 10 minutes reserved for pre-consultation and post-recommendations, but even then, the facial didn't last 50 minutes. read more

On 2/27, I had a facial with Christine at the 14th Street location for the first time and she was absolutely amazing and expressed a deep concern about my skincare needs. Nevertheless, the lady need to work in her front desk interpersonal skills when talking with clients. Upon checking out she ask if I wanted to become a member and indicated if I purchased the products Christine suggested that I would get a discount on the products. No further explanation about membership details. Therefore, I asked questions about cancellation policy and she seem to be frustrated. I also asked her to read the treament plan Chrissy wrote since I didn't have my glasses with me. Also, a free tool was advertised to be included for first time guests, which was not added to my facial, but the receptionist insisted it was. Chrissy did not use the tool. In my opinion, receptionist is not professional for someone who is the first point of contact. read more

The more concerning part is that as I went to pay, the person at the front desk asked if I wanted a membership, and I said "no, 100% no" as I knew I was not coming back. She then said, "Well, you should sign up because it's a discount and we can cancel it immediately." So I did, and we did cancel it. I had several email exchanges later that week because the overarching company didn't exactly agree with her, but we landed on it being okay to cancel.
