Don't waste your time with this place - Once again I've received the worst customer service with Fabrizio on the phone. I made a laser appointment with the owner! Personally! I got a confirmation for the appointment, except it says it is for Brazilian waxing. I called to make sure the appointment is for laser and not waxing. I talked to Fabrizio the day before the appointment and he said he must check with his boss, that he will call me back. Once again I got no phone call back!!! I called the next day and he said the machine is not working and I must reschedule, does not address the fact that did not call me back or that If i hadn't called i would have wasted my time. All he has given me are excuses for the bad service and raised his voice at me when I expressed my frustration. His excuse, he is just following orders. So should I think that his orders are to mistreat customers, not follow up with phone calls and a total lack of organization with the spa services? He provides the worst customer service and they are losing money having him as receptionist. I've been promised multiple discounts because of his mistreatment! Why is he still employed there when he is so bad at his job which consists of customer service! I don't care how convenient their location is and how good your prices are. I will forfeit the multiple discount vouchers they gave me because I just can't waste my time anymore with their awful service. Older review- I've been a loyal customer for two years but the customer service lately leaves a lot to be desired. I called twice to make appointments for waxing and laser. I spoke to their new receptionist - Fabrizio. The first time he said he had to check with the aesthetician and he would call me back. He never did. Then I called and he basically blamed it on me by saying that he had to many people in front of him and that I should have emailed him. Is that customer service? Making excuses about why you treated a loyal customer poorly? And he is not the only one, aesthetician Yelena, the last time I had a Brazilian waxing with her she complained the entire time (she always does), and she repeatedly tries to get me to come back every two weeks. I know she wants to make extra money, but this isn't my first rodeo and she isn't my first aesthetician - I came to see Valentina all the time - she told me I couldn't come every two weeks because the hair is not long enough to pull out and it is more painful. I also received the treatment from Elena and she said the same thing. Moreover - they are right, my hair takes two weeks to start grow, so there isn't anything there in two weeks! Also, the last time she wanted to charge extra for removing the hair under my belly button - again this isn't my first Brazilian and it isn't my first time at Qi spa it's not even my first time with her! Every aesthetician has removed that hair as part of the Brazilian at no extra charge, including her. If they don't do something about their customer service they are definitely going to lose loyal customers, and that's a shame because I really enjoyed the convenience of their location when the service was good. read more

Terrible Brazilian wax experience. Most importantly, the wax was way too hot and I had burns afterwords. When I told the esthetician that the wax was too hot, she told me I was wrong and kept waxing. She ripped off the strips and pulled the skin. I have been getting waxes for years and never had this problem. In addition, the esthetician spent half the appointment telling me how bad my skin was and how I needed a facial, as well as pointed out several other things on my body I apparently need to fix. Yelena does a great job on my Brazilian waxes. I alternate between her and Valentina. She is quick and thorough with the bikini area. Only reason I cannot give 5 stars is, the last two times I went, the wax pulled my skin and my skin was sore and peeling for a few days afterwards. This usually does not occur after my Brazilian waxes. She does, however, end your service with a warm towel and cooling gel to calm down the redness and that is much appreciated! read more

Let me start by saying I have been here multiple times. Every time my experience has always been good and decent and very professional if I might add. But for the first time I went here today and I had the most amazing experience with one of the best estheticians I have ever met! She is Yelena...she made me feel like the most important in the most loved person ever. I am not a very social person, so I don't generally talk during my sessions (Brazilian). She educated me on skin care, best skin practices, what to do before and after waxing how often to get waxed and she talk to me as if I was her own child. I received a very disappointing Brazilian wax service at this salon. I'm going to assume this is because I came in using a groupon, based on the sign that was in the room where I was treated which read: "we offer three kinds of service here, you can pick two: cheap, fast, and good Fast and good service won't be cheap cheap and fast service won't be good good and cheap service won't be fast" You get what you pay for- I got cheap fast service that wasn't good. The woman did a very sloppy job and left many hairs behind. Typically waxing technician will go back and use tweezers on hairs that didn't come out in the waxing. Nope, this technician simply just reapplied the used wax strips to my skin again and again (even when there was one hair left in the section) making the experience painful. And when the hair didn't come out with the wax strips she just left it. I'm very happy that I did not buy the three pack because I would not like to return to this salon. read more

I got a facial today from Qi spa and the esthetician had no idea what she was doing. Not only did she do extractions with not adding any heat to my face, damaging all of my pores, she continued to do a scrub afterward. Put a hot rag on my face with the scrub on and got scrub into my eye. My eye is scratched inside and I cannot see out of it . I had to make an appointment with an eye doctor to get drops for that. at the end of my facial she proceeded to ask me if I wanted sunscreen. And since she scrubbed my face raw, I said yes please. After she put it on she said that it made her eyes water really bad and she doesn't use it. I now cannot open my eye because the sunscreen got into my cut.I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else and I really hope she learns how to give proper facials because I am in so much pain. read more

I'd been desperately needing a massage and scheduled an appointment. They got back to me within an hour confirming my appointment for the next day. I saw Kelly for a deep tissue and she clearly has had extensive therapeutic training because afterwards all the knots in my back were gone. I'm new to DC and haven't found a favorite esthetician for brazilians yet, so I bought a groupon and decided to give Qi Spa a try. I WOULD NEVER COME BACK HERE, even if it was free. I was greeted kindly by front desk staff and offered cucumber water, which was a nice touch. The niceties ended there... The esthetician never introduced herself and was unprofessional throughout my service. She made several comments to me about "not being lazy" and coming to get brazilians routinely every 3 weeks. While I had not gotten one in awhile, she didn't need to make this comment to me more than 5x during my service. Incredibly rude! Strike one. My service was extremely painful, with her going over spots over and over again, leading to some extreme bruising. I have sensitive skin, but I've also had this service done countless times and even my first time wasn't this painful. Some might mistake her continued reapplication a of wax as thoroughness, but it seemed to be more of an issue with her technique and the re-application of the same used strip of wax in my opinion. I was clearly in a lot of pain, but she did not try to distract me or ask if I was okay at any point in the service. Strike 2. Lastly, after my service, she removed the paper bed liner and started spraying down the plastic covering while I got dressed again. I have NEVER had an esthetician not gracefully excuse themselves after the service to allow me to get dressed in peace. And spraying cleaner while I'm still in the room? That's just downright unprofessional. Strike 3. A day later, I notice that the times I thought the wax was hotter than it should have been, I was right. I also have a few small burns from the service. I can't say enough how disappointed I was at the lack of customer care and professionalism. Never again! read more

I purchased a groupon for Qi Spa and made an appointment with ease. I arrived To my appointment about 10 mins early but I was greeted and immediately taken back to the room. The esthetician offered me water to help me relax. Valentina was very quick and professional. I love how sanitary they are with no double dipping in the wax ! That's a BIG health thing for me! The wax was great and efficient, by the time it was 7 minutes past my appointment I was already up getting dressed again. I had an unfortunately dangerous experience with my last waxing appointment. I have usually had very good experiences at Qi with waxing. Having been there several times for Brazilians, I never had a problem. However, I have always been waxed by Valentina. If you want a wax, ask for Valentina. The last time I went in, there was a new girl who usually works on Fridays. She was very quick and professional and I didn't notice anything wrong until I got home. I assumed my pain was the usual discomfort of Brazilian waxing but I was wrong. By the time I got home, my skin was red and enflamed and painful for at least two days. After a few days the skin on the lips actually started peeling like a sunburn. At no point did the technician ask if the wax was too hot nor did she press the skin after the wax to numb the pain. If this was my only experience, I would have left a 1 star, however, I have always had a good experience with Valentina who is very professional and kind to new patients. So I am giving the entire spa a 3 so far. read more

I bought a Groupon for this place and deeply regret it! I bought the dermapen treatment and from start to finish it was an awful experience. The woman doing the treatment was incredibly rude and acted like I was a bother to her. She explained nothing and was annoyed by my questions. When it came time to start she said my skin was too thin (not true) and did a very light treatment that when done right is suppose to leave your face very red for the next 72 hours. Needless to say there wasn't ANY redness even 5 minutes after. What a waste! On top of it, she kept barking at me during the procedure if I flinched in the slightest. Afterward they pushed their products hard and when I politely declined $50 out of $80 product worth she walked off in a huff. I thought twice about leaving a tip, but decided on leaving it since it will be the last time I step foot in that sham of a spa! read more

I've been coming to Qi Spa for years, since I used to work next door where Mr. Smith's used to be. Every now and again (I'm sure like many other ladies) I have taken to Groupon and ventured to other Spas for waxes before, but I always come back here. (Old faithful) Service has always been satisfactory and the staff has always been pleasant, I even get coupons in my email from them! Today I made an appointment for a Brazilian wax (my usual) and they were able to accommodate me same day, after I got off work. My esthetician was running a bit behind, they gave me a call a head of time to let me know... which I really appreciated, because it gave me extra time to maneuver through traffic coming from my office and park during rush hour. Today was my first time seeing Yelena and she is amazing! She was very apologetic for being late, but I'm flexible so I didn't mind at all... and her service was great so it was well worth the wait. She was very kind, thorough with her waxing technique and made fun conversation with me during the process. I really enjoyed her and I will continue to come back and request her. Yelena is fantastic - Quite frankly, she is the only reason I go to Qi Spa. The salon itself is nothing special; it is a bit cramped and has poor lighting. While the spa itself is nothing to rave about, I would not go to anyone else other than Yelena for my skin care needs. I first went to Yelena for a Brazilian, and it was by far the best waxing experience I had ever had. Yelena takes the time to analyze your skin type and will use different kinds of wax depending on your skin's sensitivity. I have also gone to Yelena for facials, and again - it was of the highest quality. Through talking to Yelena during each appointment, I have learned that she used to own her own spa before moving to the U.S., and has decades of experience in aesthetics and cosmetic procedures. I come to Qi Spa every 2-3 week for a wax with Yelena. She is amazing and does a great job. I am always offered water or tea and the front desk is always patient when I am running a little late because I can't find parking. The wax service is great and Yelena makes sure to get every inch clean. The more often you go, the less painful it is. She is always kind and is very personable. I have also had facial services here which were great. I have recommended this location to several of my friends and family and they love it too and also come consistently. The wax is fairly priced. I love this place. I visited D.C. on vacation and I wish that I could take Hang--pronounced 'hong,' I believe--home with me. I called the night before and they were booked. The receptionist called her to see if she could come in early the next day for me. They scheduled me without a problem, which was so considerate. When I arrived, the gentleman at the front desk was super friendly. Hang is an amazing massage therapist. I have insane back problems and she helped me so much. I got the rose oil massage; it smelled so good. (If you're not into roses, do a different massage. But for the love of all that is good in the world, go to this place.) When I expressed my frustration as a customer at a supposed customer servicing provider, he irritably said that it is NOT his "job to feel apologetic or understanding for customers" and that he "didn't care." He also seemed to lack knowledge on the Spa and Groupon policies, which only emphasized his disqualifications as a receptionist. It was a little awkward from experiences I had from the get-go as there was no towel to cover up after I took off my pants. I had to ask for one. I then asked for a landing strip and ended up with what can only be described as a 1/3-inch line. Eek! Esthetician attempted to calm me and said it looked fine - probably even better than a normal landing strip. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. From my angle on the table I could not tell what had happened until I got home before a mirror and realized she should have just taken it all off if if the attempt had clearly gone wrong. My girlfriends took me away for a birthday weekend in DC and we all three had full body massages and all three of us thought it was amazing. My one girlfriend who travels all over, said it was the best massage she had ever had. I would highly recommend it and plan to go again. I have been waxing since the age of 16. I got waxed in Italy, Spain, France and here in the US in multiple locations. So far I can say Valentina has done the best wax on my whole body and she became my fav. I told her that if I ever move elsewhere, I will have to come back once a month to DC to get waxed by her. She is quick, detailed and I feel no pain when she waxes me. She is very patient and such a pleasant young woman. She knows what she is doing and is very knowledgeable. I started going to Qi Spa about two years ago. The first time I went to Qi Spa was my first Brazilian ever and I was consistently happy with my experiences, at least the first year. I'm not sure if there was a change in a management, owners, or if at one point all the employees were replaced, but the quality significantly changed in the last year. I had noticed a few things had changed, but never thought it was a deal breaker until this past weekend. I was uncomfortable with the condition of the upstairs room. The bed slid a few times during the waxing, there were bits of wax on the wall, and when I walked in there was a pile of sheets or towels on the bed and when she removed them she didn't put new paper one the bed. I assumed they were clean towels so I let it go, but I also noticed that she used the same stick multiple times before replacing. I'm not sure that I had noticed that at Qi Spa before. I also saw boxes and random things on the floor and it just seemed like the room is used as a storage room and a waxing room, which also made me question the cleanliness. The waxing: I hadn't gone in for a couple months so I totally expected it to be a rough wax and tipped Hanna $20 for the extra work BUT I have noticed quite a bit of scabbing, bumps, and my skin is peeling! I have gone this long without waxing in the past and never experienced this. She switched waxes a couple of times and when we were done she rubbed some Aloe on me. I was super sticky and had wax on me and usually in the past, they apply some sort of oil to clean off wax and then use aloe. In addition to being sticky and sore, I felt like my skin was burning (probably from where I now see scabbing) for at least 24 hrs and I'm still in some discomfort a few days later. I will sadly not be going to Qi Spa again. I was a fan of their 3 wax packages, but it's not worth it to save a few dollars! read more

I bought another groupon just in case they changed staff. They must have because they lady swore I missed an appointment on the day I actually redeemed my first groupon and got my first wax there. I tried to tell her maybe they made a mistake. She would not listen and asked me to pay a late fee from the missed appointment in 2013.
