For the majority of the area to focus on upper income clientele this restaurant was a surprise offering basic American comfort food. They say they've been around 30 years, probably before all the supposed hedge funders moved in. Food was tasty. Nice friendly local service. read more

Had the loveliest brunch at PR, and am thrilled to know there's a cozy diner-ish spot that's so conveniently located! We enjoyed every dish we got, but the service was the real treat - fast, attentive, smiley and accommodating. Got for the egg white avocado omelette if you're feeling calorie conscious or the Belgian waffle if you're in self-care mode. Pair it with FS OJ (they actually prep it seconds before you get it!) read more

Stopped in randomly - cute spot and super cozy. The server was good, kind and quick staff. Ordered some fries and a cheese quesadilla since it was a quick stop. The quesadilla was simple but well made and super cheesy! The fries were crispy and warm. read more

We stopped in Greenwich on a Friday night. Most restaurants were full and we were looking for a decent place to eat. From the outside, this place looked like it could be a good place. The inside is a drab diner like feel. Their menu was underwhelming and a bit pricey. The food quality was just ok. I ordered a gyro. I asked for a little bit more Tsatziki sauce and they told me no. I would not come here again. It's not worth a second try. read more

I will never eat in such an unwelcoming place where the owner doesn't care if his customers get what they ordered. Then when you try to address it, he gets irate and tells you to leave because you want it corrected! I will never support a restaurant ran by such a rude and disrespectful person. What a horrible human to behave in such a disrespectful manner when a customer tells him it's not what you asked for. I do not understand how this man is still in business. He cannot cook and is super cheap with his products. Not worth the visit or mistreatment! read more

Just very mediocre. There's a lot on the menu but what we ordered was just blah. And there's so many good options on this street. The seating isn't very comfortable and the long skinny set up is a little weird. I got mozz sticks and they were def freezer aisle level and the pastrami sandwich we got was ok. We wouldn't come back as mediocre isn't worth it when there's so much food food to try out there! We came for lunch. I'm sure this place likely does a good breakfast so I'd recommend you try that! The service is very friendly! read more

Great basic American Breakfast with a Mediterranean flair! An antidote to pretension up the street.

It was such a beautiful day on Sunday last week, we wanted to sit outside for lunch. We came across Putnam Restaurant. Their menu seems to have a few Greek options as well as decent sandwiches and other comfort foods. I really love a good Greek salad, so I decided to go with that. I also got their frappe. My friend got their cappuccino and the fried calamari. The Greek salad arrived in a pretty large bowl, filled with a decent amount of feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, grape leaves stuffed with rice, olives and cucumber. I didn't ask for any chicken. This salad is well packed with all of the great nutrients, but it wasn't my favorite Greek salad, maybe something was off, or not enough of the dressing. My frappe, I hate to say it but it was awful. It was super, super strong. Maybe like three espressos in it type of strong. It made me feel jittery on the long drive home. Their cappuccino was really good, creamy and solid. I should have gone with that for my coffee pick. The calamari was a little hard in parts, but not bad. Putnam Restaurant gets three stars for me, since nothing blew me away. read more

A diner's diner. We sat at the counter and had a lovely chat with the staff. Got some quick breakfast, egg sandy, home fries and some French toast. Surprised at how affordable it was. Recommend sitting up front for the ambience. A very rustic, old, landmark building from what we were told. A lot of regulars' there getting the usual and that seems to be the new life goal. read more

Ordered takeout for the 4th time and the last time around Noon on a Saturday. All the entrees were overcooked and dry except for the salads (hard to ruin salads). Ordered medium rare burger, came well-done along with the fries, burnt to a crisp. Mozzarella sticks and fried calamar were over fried, dark in color, too crispy, and tasteless. Cheesesteak was small and tasteless. Gyro platter was the worst, 3 thin pieces of overcooked dry meat, very small overcooked fries, and a Greek salad for $14.95. All the dishes were not appealing as though they were leftovers and reheated. Diner has gone downhill with increase in prices and a decrease in portions and quality. Never going back. read more

As usual Putnam diner doesn't disappoint. This is what a diner should be great service, food is great. It's fast it's cheap. The employees are great and the hashbrowns for breakfast are out of this world because they boil the potatoes and then put them on the griddle. This makes for the crispiest potatoes and the tastiest potatoes ever. read more

See Jamie-Lynn Diner+pub baby comment. So true. Indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas. Kid friendly, pet friendly. VERY reasonably priced. Good food and great service. I had the gyro (platter comes with fries) which was super tasty with fresh chopped veggies and savory sauce. My husband had the Reuben platter. Thicker cut corned beef, thin fries, good pickle and a bit of coleslaw. Service was mature, quick, efficient and friendly. Just a real nice place. read more

This is a life saver if you're in the area but isn't in the mood to afford the ridiculously expensive restaurants in the area. I got the Cajun chicken salad (perfectly seasoned meet and a good mix of a garden salad) and also ordered a chicken pasta. The salad was spot on and I was very happy about it. However, the pasta was so boring and bland. The staff is very friendly but the ambience - is a little on the downside for what the area has to offer. read more

This was an unfortunate experience. While the restaurant itself is pretty, the actual food was extremely disappointing. We ordered two things: The Lox Omelette w/ Home Fries Huevos Rancheros The Lox omelette was extremely uneventful. With a barely perceptible taste of lobster. The cream cheese was added with what seemed to be one big gob in the center. Nothing else. The Home Fries were some of the most plain tasting home fries I've ever had... ever. My wife's Huevo Ranchero was extremely basic. The sauce used appeared to be out of some sort of packet. I can't recommend this restaurant. At all. read more

I went to the Putnam Restaurant as we always do. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel. Along with a hungry boy Special. I am taking the first bite of my second half and I pull out a piece of plastic from my mouth. I bring this to the waiters attention and all she said was "it's probably the egg" and I insisted it wasn't. She proceeded to charge me half of this since I ate the first half. I simply could have choked on this plastic if I didn't catch it all the way. Not only was she rude about it but as soon as our food came out she came with the check saying "no rush" and placed it down, not only did we just get our food but we needed to order another dish and when I said something she gave me a hard time about it and wouldn't give me the menu, she insisted I described it. After this she took the check off the table and crumbled it up. I believe that this is completely unprofessional and the waiter "Cindy" was unhelpful and arrogant. This place has gone down hill in the past couple of years for sure. read more

We had lunch on a recent Saturday. Food was ok but not great. Nothing seemed very special about it. Service ok but a little slow. Sorry.

Intimate and small. Welcoming and friendly. Like a diner and a pub had a baby. Had the Benedict's. Sauce was unexpected; mustard-like in consistency. I loved it. Just the right punch of uniqueness. Ricotta pancakes were also new for us and we loved them. Highly recommend and would return. read more

Found this place thanks to the good Yelp reviews it received. We were in the area hoping to go to a pizza place that was closed for a weekend, bummer so we pivoted to Putnam. We walked in just looking for a snack, some comfort food. Although it seems they are more known for their breakfast we opted for some mozzarella sticks and a Pastrami on Rye with some French fries. Service was very quick, our food came out roughly 5 minutes after we placed our order. Plenty of indoor seating and they even have a patio area near the street to indulge in nicer days. Now onto the food, the pastrami sandwich was the star, they gave you a good size portion of meat inside of the toasted bread, fries were good of course, crispy and cooked to my liking. The mozzarella sticks I thought were okay, they could have used more cheese on the inside and maybe something to elevate the marinara sauce as I thought it was only average. Despite this, I would return, it is a nice spot downtown that serves up some comfort food and will not break the bank! read more

Ther food was great, the prices were better than reasonable given the area, and the back room was cool, but the service was spotty. Our waitress forgot our side dish and when questioned, said that people often don't want the side and she'd rather not see food wasted. That was probably the dumbest thing I have ever hear a server say. Own up to the mistake, that's all. The entrees were also not served at the same time, also a no no. read more

Truly delicious food! Great prices, nice menu. I believe they are owned by a Greek family, but can't confirm. The diner is nice and cozy and a good refuge in Greenwich Ave. With old New England places like this, the inside may feel old and slightly a bit unclean in my opinion. I tend to be very particular about this, but I don't think it bothered anyone else. The place was full for breakfast with everyone enjoying. read more

Our server was friendly and on point. I had the chicken Svlaki and the chicken was well seasoned, salad was green and fresh, overall the meal was well proportioned.
