Then when you try to address it, he gets irate and tells you to leave because you want it corrected! I will never support a restaurant ran by such a rude and disrespectful person. Just very mediocre. There's a lot on the menu but what we ordered was just blah. And there's so many good options on this street. The seating isn't very comfortable and the long skinny set up is a little weird. I got mozz sticks and they were def freezer aisle level and the pastrami sandwich we got was ok. We wouldn't come back as mediocre isn't worth it when there's so much food food to try out there! We came for lunch. I'm sure this place likely does a good breakfast so I'd recommend you try that! It was such a beautiful day on Sunday last week, we wanted to sit outside for lunch. We came across Putnam Restaurant. Their menu seems to have a few Greek options as well as decent sandwiches and other comfort foods. I really love a good Greek salad, so I decided to go with that. I also got their frappe. My friend got their cappuccino and the fried calamari. The Greek salad arrived in a pretty large bowl, filled with a decent amount of feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, grape leaves stuffed with rice, olives and cucumber. I didn't ask for any chicken. This salad is well packed with all of the great nutrients, but it wasn't my favorite Greek salad, maybe something was off, or not enough of the dressing. My frappe, I hate to say it but it was awful. It was super, super strong. Maybe like three espressos in it type of strong. It made me feel jittery on the long drive home. Their cappuccino was really good, creamy and solid. I should have gone with that for my coffee pick. The calamari was a little hard in parts, but not bad. Putnam Restaurant gets three stars for me, since nothing blew me away. read more

Ordered takeout for the 4th time and the last time around Noon on a Saturday. All the entrees were overcooked and dry except for the salads (hard to ruin salads). Ordered medium rare burger, came well-done along with the fries, burnt to a crisp. Mozzarella sticks and fried calamar were over fried, dark in color, too crispy, and tasteless. Cheesesteak was small and tasteless. Gyro platter was the worst, 3 thin pieces of overcooked dry meat, very small overcooked fries, and a Greek salad for $14.95. All the dishes were not appealing as though they were leftovers and reheated. Diner has gone downhill with increase in prices and a decrease in portions and quality. Never going back. read more

As usual Putnam diner doesn't disappoint. This is what a diner should be great service, food is great. It's fast it's cheap. The employees are great and the hashbrowns for breakfast are out of this world because they boil the potatoes and then put them on the griddle. This makes for the crispiest potatoes and the tastiest potatoes ever. read more

This is a life saver if you're in the area but isn't in the mood to afford the ridiculously expensive restaurants in the area. I got the Cajun chicken salad (perfectly seasoned meet and a good mix of a garden salad) and also ordered a chicken pasta. The salad was spot on and I was very happy about it. We ordered two things: The Lox Omelette w/ Home Fries Huevos Rancheros The Lox omelette was extremely uneventful. With a barely perceptible taste of lobster. The cream cheese was added with what seemed to be one big gob in the center. Nothing else. The Home Fries were some of the most plain tasting home fries I've ever had... ever. I went to the Putnam Restaurant as we always do. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel. Along with a hungry boy Special. I am taking the first bite of my second half and I pull out a piece of plastic from my mouth. I bring this to the waiters attention and all she said was "it's probably the egg" and I insisted it wasn't. She proceeded to charge me half of this since I ate the first half. I simply could have choked on this plastic if I didn't catch it all the way. Not only was she rude about it but as soon as our food came out she came with the check saying "no rush" and placed it down, not only did we just get our food but we needed to order another dish and when I said something she gave me a hard time about it and wouldn't give me the menu, she insisted I described it. After this she took the check off the table and crumbled it up. I believe that this is completely unprofessional and the waiter "Cindy" was unhelpful and arrogant. This place has gone down hill in the past couple of years for sure. read more

Found this place thanks to the good Yelp reviews it received. We were in the area hoping to go to a pizza place that was closed for a weekend, bummer so we pivoted to Putnam. We walked in just looking for a snack, some comfort food. Although it seems they are more known for their breakfast we opted for some mozzarella sticks and a Pastrami on Rye with some French fries. Service was very quick, our food came out roughly 5 minutes after we placed our order. Plenty of indoor seating and they even have a patio area near the street to indulge in nicer days. Now onto the food, the pastrami sandwich was the star, they gave you a good size portion of meat inside of the toasted bread, fries were good of course, crispy and cooked to my liking. The mozzarella sticks I thought were okay, they could have used more cheese on the inside and maybe something to elevate the marinara sauce as I thought it was only average. Despite this, I would return, it is a nice spot downtown that serves up some comfort food and will not break the bank! read more

Our waitress forgot our side dish and when questioned, said that people often don't want the side and she'd rather not see food wasted. The diner is nice and cozy and a good refuge in Greenwich Ave. With old New England places like this, the inside may feel old and slightly a bit unclean in my opinion.
