Got there early ahead of our reservation to get drinks at the bar. I ordered a dirty vodka martini and my husband got a gin martini. They got the order wrong and gave us both dirty martinis. I was briefly excited by them asking if I wanted blue cheese olives but even those were dry since you can see them on the bar pre-skewered, sitting in a container, not in brine. We finished our drinks and then moved to a table. We were not given water when seated. Placed an order for another round of drinks then (smartly) made the decision to order a mix of apps first before our entrees. Placed an order for another round of drinks, got the gnocchi, dumplings & wings. Food hit our table before our drinks arrived and we had to ask for water. Now onto the actual food - sadly, nothing good to say about it: - Sticky Gochujang Wings: well fried wing but WAY too much vinegar in the sauce not at all a Gochujang flavor - Sweet Chili Dumplings: Panda Express sauce a cloyingly sweet. Would expect more from a place like this. Also the filling of the dumpling tasted like it had curry seasoning? Curry + sweet chili are not flavors that mix - at least not in this dish. - Gnocchi: The sauce was broken/so grainy and gritty and the gnocchi itself SO DENSE. After this bad show, it was a no-brainer that we were gonna take our night and appetites elsewhere. So disappointing. Feels like they have a lot of service issues. I've dined here several times over the past year plus. I'm struggling with where to land this review rating-wise because the food and drinks are always really great. Service, however, can be extremely hit or miss. I feel like 4 stars is appropriate because most of the time, it's a hit -- but when it's a miss, you almost feel abandoned at your table... The couple of times this has happened, the server was also very rude. Again, 90% of the time, really great and wonderful service experience, too. Additionally, it can get very loud in the restaurant and I'm relatively soft-spoken, so it can be very difficult for me to communicate with the servers. The experience at the bar has always been so lovely. Both the outdoor patio and indoor seating... Great vibe, great lighting. I've dined here enough, solo and in groups, to have had all of the following: To sip: - Espresso Martini: Very good espresso martinis here! - Manhattan: Classic. Great. - Agave Club: Good, sweet (as expected). - Socialite: Good. They make a good, classic Negroni and the red wine offerings are good. I'm not a huge CA wine person, but their Chianti on the menu from Italy is good. Must be medium-high in sulfite levels though because I do tend to get a little stuffy... but that's ok. :) To eat: - Burrata: Delicious but you really cannot go wrong here. - Charcuterie Board: Great to share. - Rock Shrimp Bao Buns: Ordered once. I continue to do without. They are really good but for me, personally, there's better on the menu. - Oysters: Basic but delicious selection. I just love oysters. - Organic Scottish Salmon: Very good. - Black Pot Mussels - Manieri: Amazing mussels and that white wine to accompany... Perfect. - Hanger Steak: Yum. - Greens and Quinoa Salad: Love it, very sesame-forward. If you do not like sesame, do not order. If you love it, go for it. - Spicy Lobster Fettucini: This is SO. GOOD. Have ordered this several times... Once, I had it two nights in a row dining in and I love it every time. Really good pasta dish and the amount of lobster is generous and the delicate flavor, surprisingly, does not get lost. Always plated beautifully. My friend and I decided to do happy hour at The Americano for the first time. We were kindly greeted and although there were not anymore seats at the bar (where happy hour takes place), the manager was so kind enough to still honor us with the happy hour selection from a table instead. By the time we were ready to start ordering, a few seats opened up and our sweet waiter took care of cleaning the area first before we switched over to the bar. The overall ambiance of this restaurant was family friendly with a holiday feel. We ordered cocktails, which were delicious! Our appetizers (sticky wings = 10/10, omg the sauce!; shrimp bao buns, and some meatballs) kept us more than full enough that we decided to hold off on ordering anything else for the evening. Before we left, our original waiter asked how everything was and some of the exciting things that take place at this restaurant. I'm very big on customer service and I really appreciated how attentive, accommodating, and genuine everyone was throughout the night, even with there being so much people there. We had a craving for good quality steak and the Americano served us with cooked to the right temperature for our Hanger steak with chimichurri and Tenderloin with Sherry Dijon, those sauces paired with the steak were immaculate. Before we got to the steak, we started with the shrimp cocktail that fresh with a cute bottle of Tabasco lol and the Burrata was melted to your taste buds to go along with the tomato jam and prosciutto (gluten free, they have options for a good handful of dishes too!). Dined at the Americano during Stamford Restaurant Week and had a lovely experience. The servers here are super attentive -- we received 10/10 hospitality which made our experience so pleasant! They have a wide variety of food options on their menu. I tried the salmon and my husband had the sous vide chicken. We also started off with a French onion soup which was amazingg! Probably the best I've ever had. Everything we had tasted really great. However I do wished they browned or roasted the chicken a bit more. It was a bit light for my personal preference. Was super excited to try this new spot and was unfortunately disappointed. The decor is beautiful and the bar has ample space to fit a crowd on a busy night. However, I got served the wrong drink twice after receiving slow service at the bar. The two pasta dishes we got were awful. The pasta was bizarrely thick which I have never experienced before, along with the fact that it was barely cooked. The portions were ridiculously small considering the high price of each dish. Disappointed with Brunch in Downtown Stamford There aren't many places offering brunch in downtown Stamford, so we were happy to hear this establishment did. Unfortunately, that excitement didn't last. I ordered eggs Benedict and asked if they had gluten-free bread. The waiter said they didn't, so I asked to substitute a salad instead of the bread. Simple enough. But when the dish arrived, the eggs were sitting on the original bread--not gluten-free--with a salad on the side. So either the waiter forgot or didn't communicate my dietary request, or the kitchen ignored it. Either way, someone dropped the ball. Is there a communication issue between the front and back of house? A language barrier? Or are they just not talking to each other? On top of that, my husband's bacon wasn't cooked properly. It's breakfast--how do you mess up bacon and eggs? The more we try dining out in downtown Stamford, the more disappointed we are. Service standards are slipping across the board. Where are the owners? Who's managing quality control? It feels like no one is watching, and it shows. read more

We had a reservation today on Mother's Day. 4 adults and 2 children. Unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. After 2+ hours we decided to leave without getting our order. We had asked several times for our food, and were told it would be coming soon. Never happened, and my grandchildren were getting really hungry. So we had to leave and get them food next door. Everybody else around us was being served, even after being seated after us. With that said we will not be back. We weren't that hungry so we split 3 apps (and didn't finish the salad it was so big) the Burrata was delicious, the apple and goat cheese salad was a little over dressed and I thought there should have been more apples in it considering the name, and the shrimp cocktail was nice. Peter had a berry spice tequila drink with was also delish. The Cesar salad was one of the best I have had in a long time. It doesn't list anchovies but it definitely had a slight anchovy taste. The food and drinks are impeccable. Tried the Socialite, OnlyFans, Raspberry thyme and Espresso Martini. All were equally amazing and well balanced cocktails. The Spicy Lobster Fettuccine and the Scallop Romarin was to die for. Cooked to perfection, beautifully presentated and extremely flavorful. Compliments to the chef and bartender!!! Food & drinks were delicious and served fast even on a busy Thursday night kicking off a holiday weekend (thank you to Destiny for awesome service!) Also impressed with the restaurant's gorgeous interior (and exterior!!) and great vibes from the music to the people. I ordered the short rib ravioli and was not disappointed. Mushrooms could have been cooked a little more evenly (some pieces were mushy and some very tough) but otherwise the dish rocked. I also would be thrilled to see a vegetarian entree next time because although all the food was delish I'm not sure anything except maybe the quinoa salad would fit the bill for a meal for someone who doesn't eat meat or in general wants a plant-forward plate. I've been to The Americano, a new trendy eatery in downtown Stamford twice and thought it time to give this restaurant a review. Simply put, it's exceptional and thankfully, a big hit. The word of mouth has really helped since I frequently hear people talking about it. Our party of three dined on a Saturday night. Our server, I wish I knew his name, was polite, helpful, and efficient. When he brought the wrong drink (things happen) he quickly fixed the issue and was gracious throughout. We enjoyed the Burrata and Truffle Arancini as starters, and the Hangar Steak, Salmon, and Scallops with a side of truffle fries and a side of spinach. For dessert, the caramel bread pudding. For drinks, the raspberry thyme, margarita, and gimlet. Each and every item was exceptional! As a courtesy, the kind manager gave us free drink vouchers for a nightcap at the bar. The Americano is run incredibly well with a caring, knowledgeable staff and a cool hip ambiance with black, white, and red atmosphere. Their Asian Chicken salad caught my attention. Never had been there before. Impressive decor, good acoustics, great staff behind the bar where we ate. The salad though was lacking in flavor. When we challenged the staff as to where the cilantro was , they were told to tell us it was already in there. There was none. Fabian the bartender made one of the best dirty martinis I've had in months. The Fra Diavalo mussels were as they should be: small!!! Too many restaurants serving these oversized mussels that are just....too much (read ('disgusting'). We actually asked Fabian in advance and he assured us. It was the small mussels we would be receiving. The sauce was pleasantly garlic-y and spicy but not overbearing with either. The accompanying bread was toasted and perfect for soaking up the sauce. Ordered the lobster pasta, which was quite surprisingly flavorful. Not your typical white sauce, cream pasta. This was actually the dish we recommend highest. And we would never order a lobster pasta so delicious. As a second entrée because we were not very hungry we ordered an appetizer the shrimp Bao buns, only because one of us is a vegetarian. But we would never ever order this. Normally we would have tilted toward the truffle Arancini. But we stepped outside of our comfort zone and we're so delighted. Because this was a completely different flavor from anything we expected, and we were absolutely delighted. Additionally, we had one Cosmo, which Fabian nailed. And also a gin and tonic which was precisely as it should be. Perhaps the best part of this bar apart from the great food and service is the ambience. It is well decorated and has a young (but not too young) and upbeat vibe. This restaurant just vaulted itself up into our top five favorite restaurants in Stamford. It literally nailed every single point. Oh and did I mention we not only got street parking about 50 feet from the door, but there were actually three spots to choose from.
