A Wednesday night dinner with another couple. Service was efficient and friendly. We began with some complimentary focaccia, which was nice but not enough for four. We shared shrimp tempura as an appetizer, fresh and tasty, but more like fried shrimp than a true tempura. I plumped for the paella, which was a generous portion with lots of quality seafood -- shrimp, clams, mussels, squid. However it was underseasoned and had no socarrat, so I would rate it as good, not great. La Portena's bouillabaisse was a more flavorful choice, although closer to a San Francisco seafood stew than a true bouillabaisse. The fourth member of our party had the crab cake appetizer as his main, those looked really good. If I come back I would try one of the more simple fish dishes and start with those crabby patties. What a fantastic restaurant!! Went there for my birthday last night. Not one appetizer, drink or entree was anything less than delicious. The truffle-fried burrata was outstanding. The seafood chowder, amazing! The roasted Brussels sprouts, yum! We all had fish dishes and I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices. Two of us had the pan-seared halibut with mashed potatoes. I added the lobster sherry sauce, which tasted just like the chowder bisque (which was fine with me!) and I couldn't eat it fast enough. The other sauces were great too. I think the choices of sauce is what makes the fish dishes really stand out. Lastly, crème brûlée cheesecake?? Not as good as mine, but just a perfect dessert. We all agreed that this was our new favorite restaurant in the area, so we can't wait to come back again. Oh, and service was very friendly and informative. read more

FISH is an extremely well-run restaurant with great food, service and vibes. It is a unicorn in the downtown Stamford restaurant scene. Dined here for dinner during restaurant week and it did not disappoint! The Cajun Shrimp is a standout entree as the shrimp and scallops were fresh, flavorful and well-seasoned. Others at my table ordered the salmon, seafood pasta which also received praises. They also have kids entrees that are not on the menu but they are happy to accommodate. Our waiter was attentive, polite and funny. Will be back to try other things on the menu! I am not a big seafood fan but I very much enjoyed FISH! They have non-seafood options on the menu that look very good such as short rib pasta, burgers and roasted chicken. I can't say enough positive things about this restaurant. From their Happy Hour Menu to their regular menu. First thing I will mention is their drinks are outstanding. There is nothing better than superb drinks along with excellent food. The presentation is on point and its a nice vibe. I ordered the black and blue margarita and I was very pleased with the blend. The lobster and shrimp chowder was perfect well seasoned with a nice spice. I love shrimp so I had to order the stuffed shrimp with crabmeat. The presentation matched the taste. I looked at the dessert menu I was tempted to try the vanilla bread pudding but I thought about the calories and I passed on that. Very tasty food! I stopped in with friends on a Monday. We had made a reservation but didn't need it since it was quiet. Service was attentive and refilled our water glasses regularly. I loved the shrimp tacos and Brussel sprout app that I got. The Brussel sprout dish surprised me since there were mashed potatoes underneath the Brussels. Normally I wouldn't think these two foods go together but it was delicious. The shrimp tacos were loaded with fillings and I loved the green sauce that came on the side. Came here for the first time on a Friday. Love the interior and we sat at the bar. Had the fig Hennessy cocktail and it was very strong! Perfectly made. We had the crab cakes and brussel sprouts appetizer. The brussel sprouts appetizer was HUGE for two people! Then I split the salmon entree with the maple crust and capers/lemon sauce with my boyfriend. Everything was really tasty however I do wish they had some good music! I have been going to FISH for years for Happy Hours drinks and Apps. The food is excellent. Yesterday, our waitress charged us for multiple extra items in our bill. This was beyond a simple error. We sent the bill back to get some mistakes fixed only to find more items on the bill. The waitress seemed unsurprised and unconcerned that she had done this. Came here on a random Saturday 4pm date. Walking in the ambience is cool. The bar is clean and a good size with multiple tv's. The main dining area is spacious and you don't get the feel that you are on top of the next patron. The staff is welcoming and friend. Thursday night fun!!! Came here after visiting RPM and not desiring microwaved food I yelped this place. I'm so happy I did!!!! Aaliyah was a great bartender that poured boozy drinks and had us laughing the whole night. Her chemistry bough the bar alive and elevated our dining experience! The food was great but my personal favorite was the lobster Mac and cheese bites with that great tomato soup. The bites were great cheesy pulls and succulent lobster. The oysters are fresh. I suggest getting a sampler to taste all the oysters and see what fancies your pallette. I was in love with the Kumato oysters so ordered a dozen of those. All in all ok but far from exceptional. The food on its own was a 3.5. The service was a 2. not rude but not professional. We did restaurant week menu which imcluded dessert. They served dessert in a plastic cup as if we were on a picnic. That was just awful and short sighted to cheap out on such a simple solution. Put it in a glass!!! Absolutely dumb move. My friend and I came here for dinner one night after deciding we had a seafood craving, and they did not disappoint. I ordered the grilled octopus- which I was looking forward to based on all the reviews- and it was good. Just good.. the octopus was slightly over cooked but the flavors were still yummy. It was considered an appetizer, but I think it was enough for a dinner. I also ordered the coconut curry mussels and OMG they were soooooo delicious. Since it was in the appetizer section of the menu, I thought it would be a smaller portion- especially when it was listed for $10. The portion was plenty for a whole dinner! The sauce was amazing and the crusty bread it came with was the perfect touch to sop up all that sauce. Even my picky friend liked it! We also split the lobster Mac n cheese and it was amazing! I would certainly recommend this to share. At the end of our meal, after the server took away the food, I noticed the ceiling was leaking right above our table. I told a server and he just shrugged it off and said it was because of the air conditioner-idk how true but it was still gross to think that *water* could've dropped into our dinner. If you are looking for the ambiance of a quaint seafood restaurant with a view of the water, this is not the place. But we were looking for a decent restaurant to have a leisurely lunch prior to a matinee show. It was clean, and a short walk to the theater. Their menu includes a "Raw Bar", and a section called "Naked Fish" where you "mix and match" your choice of fish, a crusted option, and a "Signature Sauce". For my appetizer, I ordered six "Colossal" shrimp with cocktail sauce from the raw bar. The waitress returned, telling me I had to either order four or eight! Seriously??? What kind of a "raw bar" limits the number of shrimps you can order? This was my first tip-off that this place is a bit "weird". I pushed back, and they came out with six shrimp on ice. Was that so hard? For my entré, my choice from the "Naked Fish" section of the menu was the yellow fin tuna encrusted with pistachio and the lobster sherry sauce. My mouth was watering. However, the waitress returned saying the "Chef can't make that". Seriously??? No excuse, such as they're out of pistachios or yellow fin or something. Nope. Simply "They can't make it??? As my friend's entré would soon be out, I disappointedly ordered a bowl of their New England Clam Chowder. Sad to say, It was mostly creamy broth with cubes of potatoes and carrots, but I was pressed to find any clams. One would think a "Seafood Restaurant" would at least have a decent clam chowder, right? Nope. So, despite the fact that I didn't have an entre, we were out the door for a $150 lunch. Perhaps next time we see a show in downtown Stamford, we won't be dining downtown. read more

The food was delicious but never did anyone come to check on us, and our water goblets were never refilled. The waitress said she would be back with the check which took forever. Five stars were given for the excellent customer service from start to finish. It was a surprise dining location for my birthday, so Fish came highly recommended from friends living in the area. The atmosphere was Covid regulated, so masks were worn by staff as well as patrons (only when using restrooms). The ambiance was modern, casual and trendy. Our waitress, Edith, was charming and knowledgable. I asked for recommendations and I received the best recommendations. I was not disappointed. From our wonderful Side Car cocktails to our Blackened Branzinos to my Key Lime Pie Birthday dessert - everything was fresh, tasty and wonderful. Went here on a Saturday night in October. The night was pretty cool so we were grateful to have had a patio heater right next to our table. However we were still a tad bit cold. But due to their pandemic there was nothing else we could do as we opted to eat outside versus inside. Our waiter Justin was very attentive. We were seated right away after confirming with the hostess about our reservation. We ordered the calamari, lobster and shrimp chowder, seafood linguine and the naked northern American sea bass chef style. All of our food were pretty good so we had no complaints. To begin, i've been to many seafood restaurants and as much as I want to love this place, it just does not meet the quality of food I've had at similar seafood restaurants. Everytime I go it's just underwhelming for what their price point is for simple dishes. This place looks great and service is good enough but the food is just not worth the price. I had stuffed shrimp and whatever greens it came with were wet and gross. The mashed was good enough but the size of the shrimp were small and the stuffing was just ok but not worth $32. At max probably $20 - I was honestly surprised that the waiter said it was the most ordered dish because I would never order it again. I also had the octopus which had waaay too much oil, it overpowered the dish. My boyfriend ordered a simple chicken sandwich and only ate half since it didn't have much flavor. Ambience is nice but food is just overly priced for what you get. Disappointing. read more

Not a crab fan but this was tasty. Both desserts are good enough to smack momma. The rub: Tuna carpaccio... love it ... usually. Would have loved a citrus salad compliment, or anything else but flat bread. It was all fresh but the taste and texture profile just didn't appeal to me. 4.5 rating We went to celebrate my birthday as a group of 4 about 45 minutes before closing time and was seated immediately at a half set table. The restaurant was quite warm and the wait staff at first was not so pleasant. I understand communication between staff members are important but saying stuff in a condescending way in a different language that my party and I also understand is unprofessional. However I have no complaints for our server as his customer service was outstanding and the once requesting a tempature drop it became a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant itself is nice, clean, and sophisticatedly put together. Our drinks were strong and delicious! And the watermelon smash drink has a small light that makes the fish glass light up which I found very nice. We started with an appetizer of fried calamari which were though well cooked and delicious, they were not as crispy as I'd hoped. For entrees we ordered a double serving of paella which was outstanding as well. The seafood was cooked to perfection and rice was super flavorful. We also had an order of seafood linguine which was a nice compliment to the paella as it was nice and creamy, filled with perfectly cooked seafood and crispy breadcrumbs. I requested to be served family style and the request was fulfilled which made me quite happy. We finished off dinner with a dessert sampler platter which unfortunately we had to do substitutes with as we were super late.
