Greenwich Brewing Company is a craft brewpub that opened in Greenwich, Connecticut in September 2024. It was founded by business partners Michael Stein, Randy Kemka and Kent Kolbig. The trio and their families all live in Greenwich. Collectively, they were all sick of taking their families out to dinner and the bill adding up to hundreds of dollars. They also realized that Greenwich was one of the few towns in Connecticut that didn't have a brewery. The business partners made it their mission to open their own family-friendly brewpub where consumers could get good craft beer as well as quality food that didn't break the bank. When a space previously home to LobsterCraft became available, the partners jumped at the chance to move in. I recently visited Greenwich Brewing Company for the first time. I was heading to a concert nearby, so I thought I would stop in a grab some beers and bites for a pre-show dinner. I noticed right away that GBC has a nautical theme. The logo features an anchor, and the entrance wall features the name of the brewpub spelled out in nautical flags. The place is a little on the smaller side, cozy and inviting; there's seating for about 52 customers. I pulled up a seat at the bar and looked over the menu. Some of the staff informed me that they were celebrating their one-year anniversary and had some menu specials. To drink, I ordered a sampler flight that featured "Day Sailing" (Strawberry Lemonade Sour), "Oktoberfest" (Märzen), "Hop Anchor" (New England IPA), and "Catamaranic" (Hazy Double IPA). My favorite of the flight was the Oktoberfest, and I ordered a full pour afterwards. I also noticed that there were no beer tanks anywhere to be found on the premises. A staff member informed me that all beer is currently brewed off-site. They hope to move to a larger location in the future where brewing can be done in-house. Overall, GBC's beer is ok. It's their food menu, however, where they really shine. I first started off with some delicious "Toasted Pretzel Logs" (w/ Cardinal Red beer cheese sauce & stone ground mustard). Then I finished with the "Hot Honey Chicken" (2 tenders, hot honey drizzle, shredded mustard slaw, pimento cheese, on a roll, served w/ fries). It was phenomenal! My only complaint was that the bun was a little too small; it was no match for those massive tenders. I ended up eating most of it with a knife and fork as it fell apart. Such a hidden gem in Greenwhich. Knowing this brewery is down the street from me is so cool. Even better to know the beer is awesome. There is so many to choose from and the food is great. My sister's begs me to take her back just for the fires. Definitely a spot to check out! read more

First off, GBC has a very unassuming entrance right on Greenwich Avenue. You will have to climb a flight of stairs then traverse a hallway and then down a few steps into the establishment. Not a problem unless you have mobility issues. This location is more of a restaurant than a brewery. The food menu has some nice choices and changes with the seasons depending on what is available from an area farm. The beer selection menu is ok too. Being the end of September I was hoping for Octoberfest beer or pumpkin flavors but they were not on the menu. I tried the Milk stout and then the Cardinal Red (their signature beer). Both were tasty but the Red was a standout over the stout so I got a 4 pack to go. This is another stop for us on the CT Beer Passport so I am still working myself around the state visiting establishments that are participating. We sat at the bar where Halley was working and she shared some great information about where the beer is brewed - it was obvious that is not here. Also served our beers and we ordered some lunch to split. The fried chicken tenders on rye bread with bacon and fries were just enough for us. Stopped in on a Sat. with my cousin on our "Beer Passport Tour" FOOD: Apps came out at a reasonable time frame. Good pretzel logs, with sauce. Some good beers (Hop Anchor) 12oz for $9 maybe a little pricey? SERVICE: Sat at the bar, uncomfortable bar stools (metal tractor seats), our hostess was very friendly. AMBIANCE: Not difficult to find, small interior with raised 2nd level floor overlooking buildings out back helping to bring in some natural light. First of all Tim you rock!!! Last night was my second time here and I can't wait to return. This place is exactly what we needed on the Ave. Not another snobby restaurant, this place has a cozy feel with relaxed atmosphere, great to grab a beer and watch sports on the two large screen TV's. I went with my neighbor we both have adult children and for that reason we enjoyed seeing families with small kids. Finally a place for the young parents where they can feel comfortable, enjoy the food without worrying about disturbing someone. Now the food! For appetizers we ordered fried pickles, potato skins, chicken wings. The fried pickles were delicious, the potato skins were unbelievable in flavor perfectly wedged, and the wings were just as good, if not Better!!!, then, J Timothy's (best in country). I tried the sweet chili flavor and buffalo they were amazing, made fresh from scratch. For main course, we ordered brisket egg rolls they were delicious, the 2pc tender box- the tenders are large and so juicy. I had the ultimate grilled cheese, which was very good but I personally wouldn't order it again because I like my grilled cheese more cheesy and gooey but that's just a personal preference. Went by on a Friday night with a party of six. It was busy and we didn't have a reservation but the staff found a spot for us. Good burgers, sandwiches, fries at reasonable prices and a nice beer selection. As one of our party said, "A fun, friendly place." read more

It's kind of hard to find the first time. Following my map app, I walked around the block, up the stairs, and to the back of the building. Once I was there, it was a great experience, even if the only sights to see outside are the conjoined parking lots below. I was a bit disappointed that they had more beers than what was on the menu, though I liked the selection they had on tap. Where they really shined, though, was the food. I didn't expect to find such a great selection. The fried pickles were a wonderful start, but the fried chicken sandwiches topped that. You wouldn't expect this caliber of food from a brewpub in Greenwich, but let me tell you, I was impressed. Though the sandwiches are made of two tenders, they're cooked perfectly. The heat you ask for is the heat you get, and the toppings will cool you down. If you can't make it to Greenwich, you're missing out on some great food, but they are starting to distribute their beer. I found some of their stuff at a restaurant in Southington. read more

Burgers are on the money. Wings are great just wish they had barbecue honey. They have a close substitute though Bourbon wings Teriyaki wings Buffalo wings. They are such a welcoming group of employees from the chef Malcom, Kevino, Tim. Great guys owner should be proud to have them working there especially in this worker climate! The remodel looks great there is parking in the rear next to CVS. Entrance in the front off Greenwich Avenue and in back. Thin sliced ribeye or prime rib sandwich au jus would be a great addition to menu. Maybe some Jamaican Jerk chicken. Their beer selection is both tasty and deep. One of the most unpleasant meals I have had in years. A table of wild, screaming children playing video games at ear busting volumes. Parents at the next table, doing little or nothing to end the pandemonium. Virtually all of the paying customers were driven off. Great way to ruin a successful business. read more

I feel only right posting a follow up review to my review number one. I am a Huge Detroit Lions fan. We were at the Brew Co. for the Thursday night Packers / Lions game recently. We had such a good time. But, after the fourth quarter started it became clear we were the only table left in the restaurant....the entire team waited and allowed my party to stay for the final quarter and didn't even blink when we suggested they should kick us out. THAT is customer service. Again, at Greenwich Brewing you will find, excellent food, top notch beer and head of the class customer service....with a smile. Highly recommended. read more

Good beer, a bit tight. But honestly, they let the regulars be so comfortable that it's really noisy. I have to be in the mood to go back--and ready to accept all the table pounding and yelling that'll come at some point. It's fine, just obnoxious. read more
