First time at The Ginger Man and came here because was recommended to try if in Greenwich. It was worth trying as they pour a perfect pint of Guinness and to complement the pint was an order of Fish and Chips which was the best I had in a while, crispy crust and flaky fish with fresh cut fries including amazing tartar sauce. My partner is gluten free and a few options to choose from like one of the burgers without buns and ultimately chose Steak Frites with Truffle Parmesan, it was cooked well and paired well the fresh cut fries. I came to Ginger Man for lunch with some friends while in Greenwich and it was a great experience! We dined on the patio which was so nice. It's right on Greenwich Ave so it was perfect for people watching. To eat, I got a Caesar salad with steak. Everything was so good! The salad was fresh and the steak super flavorful. The Ginger Man is a quaint neighborhood pub like establishment. I was there for a Christmas party. I've heard good things about this place so I had semi high expectations. The set up was more buffet style as opposed to a sit down. They brought out the finger foods which were okay. There was the standard mini cheeseburgers, empanadas, some sort of salsa on tortilla chips, and meatballs. Basically all was decent but everything was covered not fully covered with either cheese, BBQ sauces or something else. It would have been better if the topping was on the side. The toppings seemed to overpower. It also appeared that the offerings were on the small side. There were times that the music was on the loud side making conversations difficult. We were a party of 8 and had a very good meal on Sunday 3/22/26 after the St Patrick's day parade in Greenwich. There was a large age range in our group and all were pleased with their menu choices. I especially liked their corned beef and cabbage "special" (actually sauerkraut!) and potatoes cooked perfectly with a delicious mustard. Dessert was the Gingerman brownie and Longford's vanilla ice cream! We initially ordered two for the table and had to order a third! All were devoured handily by our younger crew! I was a fan of the original NYC location and was delighted to see this pop up in Greenwich. It's a spacious pub with an old school feel. A few of outdoor tables which I'd recommend in the summer. The beer list is pretty extensive and you can't really go wrong with any of them! I was a bit disappointed with the food on my last visit though, I had the burger which was a little dry and overcooked. It comes in an English muffin which is kind of unique though! Also went for the kale salad, it was not bad but the kale leaves did not taste super fresh on that occasion. read more

This is a place that you never have to wait, and the service is good. It's pub food so you have to go in with that mindset. We went for brunch on a Sunday and couldn't get into other places. Sister got lamb has eggs which she said was gross because the hash was burnt and dry. Father ate a spinach omelette and he was pleased. It wasn't stellar. Based on how busy this spot was on a Saturday night, The Ginger Man needs no introduction to locals. Clearly an institution and rightfully so!! We were able to get a seat after a short wait, ~5 minutes. The menu is the perfect mix of classic American homestyle dishes. I orderd the fish and chips, which heavy on the batter but delish. In hindsight, I was jealous and should have gotten the burger. The ambience is super cozy, but also lively with lots of kids and parties happening in the upstairs room. Came here for some apps and was highly impressed. The portions were the perfect size as an afternoon snack but also super delicious. Me and 7 of my friends came here to drink for New Year's Eve... in a nearly empty bar, the bartender simply refused to serve one of my friends (and then us) because he "couldn't tell if the IDs were real or fake"... we then asked if he could scan them in order to prove they are real, and his reply was "we don't have one" (in this state, you legally have to have an ID scanner in order to serve alcohol).this is a JOKE of an establishment and no one should waste their money there, sincerely read more

I went with a couple friends and we all liked our food, the seating and inside is nice! There is indoor and outdoor seating! We got the chips and guac appetizer along with 12 buffalo wings and it was delicious and came out boiling hot, which we loved. The waitress was so sweet she even brought us a few more chips when she saw we were out of chips with a little guac left. The waitress was quick with ordering and filling water which I always like to mention in reviews. I got the crispy chicken paillard sandwich and i loved it, I got caramelized onions instead of pickled onions, and my boyfriend got the Nashville, hot chicken sandwich and he loved it, it was a little smaller than he expected. Second visit and my opinion has changed just a bit. Staff is always friendly but my issue is with the food. This time I ordered the ribs, I very much regretted my decision. They tasted like the kind of ribs you buy at a supermarket vacuum sealed in plastic and just heat up. The ribs were not heated up enough, the slaw on the side was ehhhh just a sloppy bland glob, Mac and cheese nothing spectacular just dry elbow pasta with just enough cheese to call it Mac& cheese a bit dry. The prices are too steep for the type of food and quality. While I do understand this is Greenwich Avenue and rent must be high, I also highly recommend the chef steps up his game to justify such prices for tavern style food. I like my food hot and savory this was not. My first time the chowder was outstanding and filling, this time it was mostly broth. The actually delicious steak sandwich after the meat is grilled should be cut thinner so that it requires less hand work ripping it away from your mouth when eating. Again, burgers are always great. Will I come back? Of course.... But I will let my opinion be known to the staff in a very polite tone that is. I want to help them get better by giving feedback not trash them. Highly recommended. I had a couple of business meetings in the area afterwards we went there for lunch and that was 20 years ago. My son and I were recently in heavy traffic on 95 so I suggested that we take a food break. I remembered the Ginger Man was close to 95. As we arrived I noticed nothing has changed the aesthetics were exactly the same. As for the food it was still top quality and the service was excellent. The place is conveniently located between New York and Connecticut on beautiful Greenwich Ave. I found the food to be just ok. Went for brunch with friends. We sat in a back room which was empty. We each ordered spinach omelettes, and some drinks. The omelette was nothing to write home about as we each received the equivalent of one egg perhaps 1/8 of a cup of spinach and a few drops of goat cheese and literally a small quartered potato. For the price we thought this was not the best choice. I would still recommend this restaurant but I would stick to something like a steak and eggs or just go for drinks. Stopped by The Ginger Man on a Sunday while visiting family in town. There was no line outside, so I figured why not grab appetizers and drinks before heading back into the city (I did not want to hit traffic). My parents, fiance, and I ordered drinks, tuna tartare, and the soft pretzel to nibble on. Drinks were delicious! I had the Downeast Pumpkin Blend cider and it was one of my all time favorite fall drinks. I love pumpkin beer, so thats probably why. I actually love pumpkin everything. The soft pretzel and cheese dip was delicious and flavorful. The tuna tartare with avocado was fresh, but way too sweet. If they could cut down on sweetness, that would be perfect. Ginger Man, on Greenwich Avenue, was a bustling lively scene on a Friday night. Its interior was a mix of cozy yet trendy, and though loud, it was still quite comfortable to sit and enjoy. For appetizers, we got their "award-winning" Pesto Mac and Cheese ($15) and the Chorizo Nachos ($13). For entrees, the Steak Frites ($45) and the Grilled Skirt Steak ($28). The Pesto Mac and cheese was the epitome of creaminess and was the highlight of the night. Deliciously salty and smooth, the ideal mac and cheese consistency without deviating from the expected earthy notes of pesto. The Chorizo Nachos were imperfect, but a nice starter nonetheless. The flavors were there and quite nice, but the chorizo was underrepresented on the plate, and it was slightly cool as if it had sat for a bit in the pass before being served. Entrees arrived. Both steaks were ordered medium rare, but the execution was mixed. The NY Strip (Steak Frites) arrived cooked perfectly and was tender, though there was too much gristle left attached to the signature fat cap, and the fries, though perfectly salted were a bit soggy in texture. The Skirt Steak arrived, totally blue. However, we got our server to refire it, with a new piece, and it was nailed perfectly on the refire. The chimichurri sauce that accompanied it, as well as the jalapeno rice, was spicy and delicious, though the steak itself was relatively bland on the outside if one took a bite without the chimichurri. The service here was great, we were seated promptly and our server was super friendly. The bussing staff was also on top of clearing our table immediately and the food came out quickly. Unfortunately, after really enjoying the appetizer of pulled pork nachos, neither of us cared for our entrees. I ordered the Mac and cheese, (not the pesto version) and found it to be pretty bland, as someone who eats Mac and cheese quite often, and also makes it at home occasionally from scratch, I know that there are a lot of ways to make a good Mac and cheese. My fiancé had the buffalo wings, and while he liked the sauce, he thought the wings themselves were not very good. Most likely frozen, and overcooked. This is not my first visit to The Ginger Man, and I've had better experiences in the past at brunch. I'll still come back, but I'll try different entrees, or stick with the brunch menu. read more

Very good burgers. I had the turkey burger and my boyfriend had the bacon-jam burger. The service wasn't the best. Our waitress delivered the Bavarian pretzel appetizer before serving us our cocktails and also forgot to give us plates. She was very apologetic but it was obvious she was very busy. When my boyfriend received his burger, there was no bacon or jam. Just a plain cheeseburger! We had to send it back and once again the waitress apologized. The ambiance was very romantic especially if you sit in the back by the fireplace. They still have Christmas trees on top of the fireplace so it feels like December. When my beloved Cask in Stamford closed I thought nothing could ever fill that hole until I found out that Ginger Man existed and was owned by the same people! Many of the dishes are the same which is amazing (is. Wings, pretzel, tuna tar tar, lamb reuben) but the menus at Ginger Man is even bigger! I had the chicken paillard sandwich which was fabulous! My husband had the salmon which he said was very good as well. The restaurant was extremely accommodating with his food requests which is always a plus! I did feel like the ambiance was a little dive-bar ish which I didn't love but it wouldn't stop me from coming back. The service was pretty good and our waiter was a great listener. I do wish he would have checked on us more because we would have had a second drink but since he didn't return, we did not. Overall very happy with our evening! read more

Um, wtf? Not my usual reaction for Greenwich food establishments. Coming here on Saturday night with a couple friends, I wasn't expecting much--many mediocre restaurants always seem to have throngs of people. I don't think I've ever seen plain cauliflower or Brussels sprouts for $11. Or a pretzel for $12. Or guac for $14. Looking for the best value, a couple of us split the roasted salmon with "risotto" for $28. The salmon was perhaps the smallest piece of salmon I've seen for any upscale restaurant. And no risotto (only fake). Now, I understand the trade off between appearance, quality, and portion size. But I am disappointed to report that all three were severely lacking. Not only was the dish lacking in aesthetics, but the salmon was overcooked and nearly tasteless. 1 star-- horrible P/Q. The calamari we had was also soggy and lacked actual meat-- gross. The one redeeming feature of the restaurant was its beautiful interior. Perhaps it was designed as a club or a real pub at first, but the ornateness of its second-floor bathrooms and downstairs seating area is unmatched by other similar establishments. Staff tried to be accommodating, but messed up the bill; tried to overcharge. Another X in my book. Definitely avoiding if at all possible, and would strongly recommend others do the same. read more

I customized a burger order last night for take out. I was attending a private function. I am not happy because I asked for carmelized onions and adding mushrooms.
