This Public Service storage facility has been great for our needs. It's always clean, there's lots of parking, and it's easy to load in/out. Our unit has had some funky lighting, but we've learned to bring a flashlight or use the light on our phone. The bathroom is always clean, though at some point, they took away the garbage can which seemed odd. They have a hand dryer instead of paper towels, but we (and I'm sure others) walk in with coffee cups, soda bottles/cans, etc. I take my trash with me but it certainly would be nice to have a garbage can onsite if I need to throw away a cup, tissue, etc. Chuck manages the place well and is always a great help if we need supplies or have questions. The woman with long brown hair (Susan? Deborah?) is also very nice and helpful. As others have said, the price increases often, but I think that's not uncommon for many other (maybe all) Public Storage facilities. read more

Anyway, I went to the wrong storage unit I was supposed to go to the one on Moody St not on Lexington but she helped me regardless. The building is in great condition with nice, clean, and easy to access storage spaces. Very convenient location with gate access to the storage area via app or push button code. Staff is friendly and professional. The big negative here is the constant price increases. Our rent most recently shot up to $507/month (with $15/month insurance included) for a 10 x 10 space on the second floor. Way too much in my opinion and over a 100% increase since I started renting the space in 2021. Great for a short term rental but not cost effective for long term. read more

The storage space was clean enough but it was rather dark (bring a good flashlight). The problem was the ridiculous price increases. our rent went from under $300/mo to over $400/mo within 6 months and then within a few more months, they raised it to over $600/mo--more than double what we signed up for! It seems their business model is, wait until the customer has invested time and effort moving their stuff in and then, when it would be a pain to move the stuff out again, they drastically increase the rent, by 2-fold pr more. read more

Chuck is definitely a weird dude, but this place has more "pros" than "cons". I had to use this facility for a few months during a move from one house to another. Pros: It's clean and well lit. The units are all well lit and reasonably accessible. Building has a keycode to access the parking lot: you know how busy it is when you walk in. I was billed accurately and honestly, with no overages nor surprise fees. Move in and move out were both easy. Cons: The bathroom was locked when I was there, and I was the only one there. The office is locked from the storage side: you can't get into the office while dropping off your stuff; you have to go around. The floors have chips in them near the doors, making the carts clunk and potentially dumping your stuff. I was eager to write a positive review for this place since I had no problems and felt like I got what I paid for, but after reading reviews and thinking about it, yeah, Chuck (the guy who is always there) is a bit of a weird dude. read more

Chuck was very helpful to my Father and I as we had to clean out our storage space and were on a tight time frame in town for a wedding. Chuck went out of his way to make sure we got everything done we needed to. There's no way we would have been able to get it all done without his help. PREPARE FOR A PRICE INCREASE IN A FEW MONTHS!!!!! ThIs facility is clean and the staff are friendly and very helpful. However this is a corporate company which I believe is guilty of a bait and switch tactic. We rented from them last year in late spring as we planned to sell our home. The first month was free as part of an incentive campaign. The remaining months were supposed to be the established monthly fee. After 5 months we received a notice that they were increasing our fee (making up for that incentive, perhaps?). I figured pricing had changed and did not think this was a money-making strategy but just a one off. HOWEVER, after removing our belongings last year, we needed a smaller unit this spring. We again rented from Public Storage on Lexington St. in Waltham. AND AGAIN, after 5 months (exactly the same as last time) they increased the fee. We had planned to keep the unit as we downsized. However, the shoddy bait and switch has prompted me to leave. If you only need your unit for a few months, go for it. BUT if you are planning on renting for longer, just plan on paying more! read more

The staff was very helpful, but Chuck made us feel like family. When my Debit card was hacked and I was scrambling to remember all of my auto-pay bills that were attached to my account I got a call from Chuck that was a reminder. He was very professional and he gave me lots of options to solve the problem and told me if I had any problems to give him a call. Agreed with last reviewer about Chuck. He really is a joke. He was quite condescending with me so I gave it back to him and he backed down. That's not something you really want to have to deal with, but good people who take their jobs seriously aren't easy to find, so I've come to expect this type of treatment and am prepared for it. Public Storage has felt like my second home over the past five years. I splurge to get an outside space as I need to go to the storage often. When I've run into problems the staff has been exceptionally helpful. Chuck in particular has the customer's needs first. He's very friendly, welcoming and wants the customer to be happy. this weekend I opened my stage bin and noticed that mice of worse had eaten a bunch of my plastic containers ( nothing perishable ) was in there. Needless to say I was upset. I spoke to the management and they said they know this occurs but we are not reasonable for vermin. Needless to say I will be looking for other options. read more

BUYER BEWARE! My 10x20' unit in the Lexington St./Waltham MA location went up 20% in one year. A small postcard arrives via US Mail announcing the increases with no stated reasons. My assumption is they know you will have to hire a mover or your own truck/resources to move and that is additionally prohibitive for some. NOT A GOOD LONG-TERM SOLUTION. read more

This is the most unprofessional storage facility I have ever been too....i walked in at a very desperate time in my life looking for a small storage space...the old man who sits behind the counter is horrible...he didnt go over what size units were available nor did he even ask me what i needed for a unit. He simply told me what he had and gave me a very cheap rate. He had us fill out paper work and then took us for a walk to the unit, handed me a lock and said "this is yours to keep when you leave take the lock dont lose your keys i dont have a copy." The locks arent free! He didnt give me an option. When we got to the unit i thought it was a great deal for the amount of space he gave me. We repeatedly told him it was huge and i didnt need all that space but the damage was already done....the agreement was signed. I do understand i should have been more careful however i wasnt in the right state of mind when i went nor did i apreciate him taking advantage of my situation. Anywho long story longer....this man was too busy flirting with my mother he could care less of what i was saying. A few weeks went by and i received a bill in the amount of almost 500.00 for a unit that i only had for 1 month. I recieved a call from billing in the Medford office spoke to a woman who was VERY helpful she stated he (the man at the storage facility) failed to do his job..she went over the staff procedures on how they are suppose to go over a check list of customer belongings which helps them decide how big of a unit we need. Well the man NEVER gave us any choice. I then called the district manager who stated he was to review the cameras and see if what i was saying was accurate. I never got a call back and when i called again all he could say was "well did you check your contract". I wasnt trying to get out of paying the bill. I was simply trying to let these people know who they have working for their company!! Never again! Lesson learned. Unfortunately i have to give them 1 star just to get this to post....they dont deserve any! read more

Do not rent here! i only gave it a star as i had to. I tried for months to set up auto payment, which finally worked, but i missed one payment and they auctioned my stuff! you are probably saying, doubt thats how it happened, but it is. I was in shock. I live out of state and couldnt believe how this happened. They said they sent me a certified letter, but when i asked when, where, who signed for it they could produce nothing. I have been phoning the regional manager to try to get my kids baby book back - but she never returns my call. I feel like i have been robbed or mugged. This is a chain, they dont care. And, i totally agree with the other reviewer on that particular rep, the store customer service, lack of integrity the store and its employees represents. Save your dollar for the free rent and pay a little more for professional people. read more

Storage area itself is fine- clean and temp controlled. I am not impressed overall for several reasons. 1- the price was super high. They draw you in with specials, but then they make you buy monthly insurance on top of the monthly rent. 2- there were several times that I went to access my unit and there were no carts/dollies available. 3- the keypad to open the gate is not accessible to drive up to. You must drive up, park, get out of your car to enter your code, then get back in the car and drive through. I'm not lazy, but it was a pain to do this in the rain. 4- I called to let them know I would be moving out before the end of the month because they told me at move-in to give them a heads up. I had already paid via auto-pay for the full month so I asked about getting refunded for some of it since I moved out on the 18th. They said after the 6th counts as a full month and would not give any refund. Basically they just scammed me out of half a months rent (which would be just under $100!) I recommend looking elsewhere before choosing this storage facility. read more

I have two storage units at this Public Storage facility. The place is very very clean. My initial experience was satisfactory. My second experience did not go as well. I have to agree with Sallie and Alli about customer service. Chuck was attentive and knew who I was when I arrived. Scott showed me to the unit. However, I was on my own after that. As Alli said, there were no carts available when I needed one. I was told that they have requested more from headquarters but don't get any. The keypad is not accessible from one's car, going in or out, so you do have to get out of your car. (Other storage places have the keypad where you can access it from your car.) My biggest complaint revolves around security. I drove up at 8 p.m. one evening. The gates were open and would not close. There was no one around. I was a woman alone, trying to decide whether or not to venture to my 2nd floor storage unit. Another woman finally drove up and said the gates are frequently left open, possibly because it was going to snow. I felt very uncomfortable with the situation. Today I spoke with Chuck, explaining my concerns. He said if being there alone at 8:00 p.m. "creeped me out", then I shouldn't come at night. He confirmed that the gates are left open for fear of them freezing. ("No one wanted to be locked in there b/c the gates were frozen closed!") When I questioned the security of my belongings, I was asked if I had insurance and then told that million dollar homes gotten broken into all the time. I didn't see how this related to me. I want to feel my things are secure in storage and I want to feel safe when I go there. Not sure what the solution is except to keep up my insurance, cross my fingers no one breaks into my units, and go there only in daylight when I know someone is in the office. I also agree with the complaints about their pricing: too expensive; add mandatory insurance on monthly; charge you for an entire month if you aren't out by the 6th, etc. I don't mind paying the price or even having the insurance if I thought I was getting security in exchange. read more
