This facility was great! I started off with a small storage unit for seasonal items and then needed a larger unit while I searched for a new apartment. Jared was very helpful in contacting me to let me know when the right size unit had opened up that was in my budget. Every interaction I had with him and his colleague Rafik was professional, nice and helpful. I totally recommend this place! read more

Hideous and rude customer service by Jared. I stopped in to look at units for proper size, Jared insisted that I would need larger than I said I wanted, I explained that a friend has a large one in another state, so I kind of knew what I needed, something around a 5 x 8. It turned out 5 x 8 not available. After showing me a larger unit, a 5 x 10, I asked about pricing, mentioned it was better online and I would go ahead and book online. Jared called within minutes of my online reservation asking when I could come down to sign paperwork, I said I would try to walk down around 2. At 2:10 he called and said I had missed our appointment, he had waited in the office and why did I not show up?! I explained that I was unaware it was a hard appt (I didn't need the unit until the next day and had done the express booking online) but offered to call ahead and walk down later. When I did walk down and bring payment, he told me the unit I had seen was no longer available, I would have to go to a higher floor and further from the elevator, that I needed to buy a $20 lock and that I needed to pay from the day I was signing, not the day I was taking the unit. I explained that I would bring a lock on move in, not good enough he said, must be locked now. He became more irate and threatening. I'm very calm and rational and I suggested that I come back the next day, when I actually needed the unit, with the lock in hand and we go from there. He said I would have to "deal with Christina" (who was lovely by the way). When I arrived as said at 9:30 in the morning, paperwork and money and lock in hand, I was told that he had made a note in the reservation that I was no longer eligible for the first month discount I had received online (noting I had an existing storage unit, which I do not. I'm guessing he is referring to my friend's unit I had mentioned seeing) and that I was now moved to the 3rd floor (original unit was on 2) and that the rate had gone up. I was told I could call a regional manager, which I did, I left 3 messages for her and no call was returned. I have since reported the incident to the national office, they noted that my reservation had been changed in many ways, including booking me in an 11 x 30 as well as a price increase. They were very happy to know of an unfriendly employee representing them, as that is the face of their company. I was offered a great deal at another facility, which I much appreciate. As one can see form the reviews of the other local Public Storage facilities, this is not the the stellar one, at least not with Jared at the desk. read more

Location, location, location. In the middle of Studio City and easy to get to. Small-ish parking lot but I've never had a problem parking. Super friendly staff. Rafik (sp) was very helpful. read more

I feel I'm being trapped by unfair and unethical business practices. I feel I've been bullied multiple times. I feel the rent is raised to an extreme. So much so recently I reserved to move to a smaller lower rate unit within same facility. Jered called me impatient and I felt bullied. He called nearly a week early to my reservation after I'd already received and responded to someone else. He demanded I make appointment now, when I wasn't ready to give a time and needed a day(my birthday) and threatened my reservation which in writing claims no obligation 7 days. Then after speaking with customer service I show up to reserve as well as speaking with Renee. Customer service confirmed reserve. I was told the didn't have size at all tin building which was advertised. And I felt bullied further by supervisor on phone that day. A gold digging unbending unethical nightmare. I called corporate 7 times and silence no return call. I called customer service and told call back within 24 but no call back. I find the place totally abusive inconsiderate of any human factor. Especially after being there so long. Once I couldn't log in to pay even with correct information so late fee. They blamed me and say well we won't waive fee again. Corporate called me acting as if it was my fault when I've used same password for years successfully. They can be arrogant and vulgar, simply corporate heartless America, rather than democracy America. They know the weight and costs of moving and I feel nearly entrapped. I can't wait to get the Hell out and away from this corporation. Customer service said Jered would not call me again. Assured me of this. He just called! It's great to be harassed and not heard and not told truth about storage units. read more

I have had a space here since 1998. Always have had good experiences with the various onsite management... but must say Jared who has been there for a while now has been extraordinarily helpful. Also as a woman who often comes to get/drop off items without my husband or older son along, I still feel safe inside the big usually empty bldg. read more

I agree with other posts, not a bad facility as in Location-wise but they are a bunch of scammers...Once you're in they will raise your rent after 3 months at least by 15-20% and they say they can do that because it is month to month...BEWARE I only have a 5x5 and they want over 100$ what a JOKE!!! go else where ....seriously!!!! read more

Look no further if you need to rent a storage unit! I highly recommend this location. I was assisted by Scott great customer service and couldn't be any nicer, if you go there ask for him.The process for sign up didn't take more than 15 min he was very thorough and precise. The units itself are clean and secure. read more

History

Established in 1972.

The first Public Storage building opened in El Cajon California, but the new business was only supposed to be temporary. Two partners pioneered the concept as a way to use their real estate investment while they waited for the Southern California community to take off and value of their land to grow. They kept building, and people continued to fill their units. Eventually the pair realized that self-storage was here to stay, and they never looked back. Today, there are thousands of neighborhood Public Storage locations to choose from, many right around the corner from you.

When I asked both customer service and the location for an accommodation of a lateral move, a different unit within the same building for the same size, which would (for various reasons help me out A LOT), they refused. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, from both Stella the district manager and Brad, the guy at the location who just HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME. They have no sense of customer loyalty and, if you ask me, no sympathy for handicapped people. SHAME ON THEM.

Here, this is for you Jared (the new management team manager).. Usually I don't go around getting on Yelp for nobody but I just gotta sign up and do this for Jared who just promoted recently and managing this property. Wow, everything was much better. Felt like home as soon as you walked in. The unit is the CLEANEST AND SAFEST IN the city. AND, the new manager Jared just made it MUCH BETTER. He will make you feel like home. He would greet you and welcome you with much big of a smile and warmest hospitality. If you are thirsty moving your bags and boxes here and there under the hot sun, he wouldn't' mind running to the store next door and bring you a cold bottle of water. You are never alone when you go for this property. The atmosphere has changed since Jared took over. We had had a different manager before him, and it was a different story. I wouldn't recommend any other place for storage unit if you are looking around in Studio City or in the Valley. BEWARE ! This is a warning to all the people that are looking to store their belongings in a supposedly safe place with video surveillance cameras. Public Storage claims that they have video cameras, and they have never had any thefts or burglaries but on the contrary I have been a victim and my unit was BURGLARIZED. There is NO safety at all. I had a very large storage unit but unfortunately my unit was BURGLARIZED, so I feel very much violated. There was no records of a video footage. When I requested for the video footage the regional manager that happened to be there that day said I can not give it to you .The police needs to request it. The head manager avoided giving it to me or the POLICE. HE even accused me by saying that maybe someone I know did it. To make a long story short DON'T give your business to them, I found out from LAPD that there has been many THEFTS and BURGLARIES. Within the past year alone 7 BURGLARIES including mine have occurred ONLY in my location, today I found out there has been a lot of other burglaries in other locations . I hope this helps. read more

I've used Public Storgae before and they have always been reliable, efficient, and appropriately priced. This time, however, they were not only ALL of what I mentioned above, they were exceptional in terms of customer service and satisfaction! Brie was my office administrator and she and I had a wonderful conversation that made the experience of lugging my belongings into storage a very 'uplifting' one, as she changed my mood completely with her positivity and kindness. She met all of my needs as a customer and went above and beyond to make us strangers become friends. She told me she just transferred to this location so I hope she finds the area to be welcoming, as this location is lucky to have her. This review is dedicated to Jared! It's always nice to meet such a special human -- and in a storage facility, of all places. He's incredibly helpful and kind, and always went above and beyond. For example, when I moved in, he gave me orange slices on a hot day (seriously), and when I moved out, he taught me how to reverse a super-short trailer (so much harder than it looks, my god). I can't say how much I appreciate him! On a technical note, I had a good experience with the facility overall. My stuff was always secure, the staff were always prompt in replying to any questions, and I felt that they worked to get me the best deal possible and were very upfront about what to expect. The wheeled carts and two-elevator situation are really convenient as well. Thanks again, Jared! read more

Hey Chris and Joseph it's me Kenny again. I know you guys rather me leave a review on google but I am so pleased with you guys service I decided to leave two reviews, google and yelp. If you ever need a storage rent from Chris and Joseph or if you are moving and just need packing supply go to them. They are extremely friendly and Knowledgable. I come into the store every month to buy supplies for my company and always received A++ service. If I was their boss I would be very proud of them. I even try to recruit them but they sadly refuse that's when I realize they truly enjoy their job. I might even have to get me a storage soon... you know who I'm going to. Thanks Guys!! read more

The insurance company adds to the scam. Of course you have to buy insurance and you have to buy their lock. Once my review came out suddenly the office hours changed and they had no more after hours access to the building. They declined of course to pay out saying I needed receipts for everything even though I had police report and everything. who has receipts for everything they own? It's all a great scam I lost some really valuable and personal items. I repeat do not rent space at this location. Can't get my things back but I can help others by telling them the truth. read more

Need to store your crap? I have had tons of stuff that I have been collecting for years and wifey finally pulled the trigger and commanded to get rid of it. Got a good sized 10x10 unit at Public Storage for a reasonable price, called http://www.fastruckmoving.com/ - local Los Angeles movers, and got it done in less than 4 hours. I've been renting a storage space for about a year now as I'm off traveling outside of the states. I try to call in at least once every 2-3 months just to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary.
