No overlock, no combination lock, no "Hi new customer, reminder about our payment schedule", no courtesy call, no grace period. - Truck full of moving items and horrible customer service. I've been a customer for about five months now and this is hands-down the worst customer service experience I've ever had with any company. The app and website have been rejecting my payments for days with a "bank unable to process" error, even though I tried two different debit cards that work everywhere else. Because I'm the full-time caregiver for my partner who is battling cancer, I can't just drive to the facility right now, so I called for help. The woman who answered -- she said she was the Property Manager -- sounded miserable from the first word. Zero interest in helping, cold tone, completely dismissive. When I explained my situation and asked to speak with someone who actually cared, she hung up on me without saying another word. Meanwhile, Paul at this location has always been genuinely kind, professional, and straight-up helpful every single time I've dealt with him. He's the only reason this place hasn't lost me as a customer sooner. Public Storage needs to get rid of this Property Manager immediately and put Paul in charge -- he's a real adult who knows how to treat people with basic respect, even when things get hectic. I'm now terrified my unit is going to auction because your online payment system is broken and your manager refuses to help. I'm with a few others on prices. I was told a certain price because I became unemployed and not able to pay full amount. I was given a lower payment amount. They said they sent out letters on rent increases, but I've never gotten them. I have received them at other homes I've lived. Now my unit is already on lien and set for auction this month when I made a small payment. read more

I rented a unit on the third floor for just over a month and a half. In that time our boxes were covered in rodent feces and they had gotten into some of the boxes plus destroyed our freezer. I am so glad we didn't have any sofas or cloth furniture in the unit or that would have been destroyed also. The management of the facility claimed no liability for what is obviously a huge rodent problem. Luckily after making several calls the district manager sympathized with me and refunded my rent. Which was nice but doesn't make up for the stress and extra work I had to do to clean everything and open all my boxes outside to check for more rodents. They should close down or not rent units until they take care of this problem. Today when moving out there were several people moving in! read more

What a poor business model. I've had a unit in some capacity at this facility for years and the thanks I get is a monthly increase of 37.5%. I'd hate to see how they treat bad customers. A modest increase would seem reasonable after my current unit has been occupied for over a year but a $66 increase is a slap in the face. And the icing on the cake is I can rent a new unit for over $50 less than what they are raising my rent to each month. Rodents everywhere. I have been customers of Public Storage on Dearborn for 3.5 years. I have moved my belongings between 3 different units (increasing in size) and have never had an issue with pests. I have noticed there are many rat traps scattered around the building. However, this past year, I have found my belongings covered in rodent urine and feces. The unit ceilings are chain linked and provide zero coverage for anything crawling above. All of our belongings are covered in droppings. We had to hire cleaners to get all the stains and ammonia smells out of our mattress and other large furniture. Public Storage won't do anything about it, it specifically says in the lease agreement that they do not cover rodents/pest infestations and to rent at your own risk. Even storage unit renter's insurances don't cover it. This is a nightmare. Do not rent here. read more

***WARNING RODENT INFESTATION*** I've been renting at this facility since 2017. My unit started out at $65 per month and is now $170 per month. This past weekend my husband and I went to my 3rd floor unit and right away we noticed mouse traps every two feet or so (they had never been there before). Once we got to the row my unit is you could see mouse droppings everywhere and the smell was horrendous and intolerable. I opened my unit to find mouse droppings covering everything and ruining most items. The staff never contacted me to let me know there was a mouse infestation, and from the comments on here it seems to have started at least 6 months ago! They also never warned us when we showed up there this past weekend that we would need gloves and a hazmat suit to enter our storage unit. UNACCEPTABLE read more

moved everything out this afternoon, May 3rd and still required to pay the entire months rent. this isn't an apartment where walls need to be painted, plumbing and alliances need to be checked to make sure their working, carpet needing to be cleaned before another tenant moves in. Someone broke into our unit. We received no refund for months of supposedly "secure" storage (which wasn't) nor compensation for stolen property. In November of 2021, we received a call from the Storage Facility. Someone broke into the unit they said. Us: "How?" Us: "Did they break the lock?" PS: "No" PS: "You should come in and inspect the unit" US: "How do you know then that someone broke in if the lock wasn't touched" Them: "Umm, we know." ... went around like this for awhile. No camera footage, but they knew. And it sounded like it might have been a former employee. Received a Police Report #: T21023185 (filed by PS) Of course, being deployed overseas for military, I myself could not make it to Seattle. Had to inconvenience by relative from California, who sent pictures of the unit a complete mess. Large boxes piled on top of a high-end bike. I am still overseas, so hard to inspect for all the little things, but we did have an older macbook laptop, which appears to be missing. Only found an empty box. Worst of all. Total compensation: $25. For context: We've been paying rent here for 2+ years. I would give this place 0 stars if i had the option. THIS PLACE HAS A RAT INFESTATION, which has not be addressed in the slightest. In additional to finding multiple rats in the unit that my boyfriend has been renting, there are also rats in everyone else's units. All of my boyfriends belongings were destroyed, i had a rat jump at me when moving his belongings, there was a multiple dead rats in his unit in additional to the multiple living rats, and 8 other people met that day all dealing with the same problem. While this place is infested with rats and destroying everyone's belongings, the facility thought that it would be an appropriate time to RAISE RENT. My boyfriend and i spent 5 hours trying to pick through his belongings and save anything that was salvageable, which wasn't much since the rats not only ate through anything stored in cardboard boxes but anything stored in plastic vacuum sealed storage bags as well. In the time that we spent picking through his destroyed belongings the both of almost pass out TWICE and had to step out of the building multiple times to get fresh air due to the overpowering scent of rat urine and feces making us lightheaded/dizzy. This facility is well aware that they have a rat infestation and they continue to deceive customers by renting to people without making them aware of the MASSIVE RAT problem they have. My boyfriend and i had to stop customers who had just signed for a storage unit and tell them there was a problem because when leasing the office didn't make this issue known to them, effectively deceiving them and ensuring their belongings would be destroyed in their facility. There is a rat issue on every floor of the building, people all over wearing gloves and masks trying to salvage their belongings, and the staff has done nothing to address the issue, they just keep scamming people. This place is going to make someone sick, as i would like to point out that rats carry the hantavirus which is often DEADLY to people. Use another facility to store your belongings if you want to keep them from being destroyed and isn't a health risk to it's paying customers. read more

Super nice storage facility. The entrance is tall and well lit. The elevators are easily accessed from the parking spots and they provide rolling pallet carts to more easily move your items. The security is good: you need to put in an access code to use the elevator to get to your level. Hallways are clean and wide and well lit. The place seems nicely climate controlled. The rolling doors open smoothly and easily. Under normal conditions they even have restrooms, though they are currently closed due to covid. Overall a much nicer facility than the last storage facility I used. read more

'Price was somewhat reasonable at first if you would actually get to pay a $1.00 first month. When you move out make sure it's by the last day of the month cause there is no pro-rating u pay the whole month even if you only stay 2 days. The staff is pleasant and polite but perhaps if they were valued more like paid more money they would be just a bit more likely to help a person. I will definitely say the Dearborn site is the best when it comes to safety, cleanliness, and staff. I was at MLK and they stole my stuff that was brand new not used and had mixed stories as to what may have happened to to it and the insurance was a joke . I do when it's the Public Storage on Dearborn in Seattle. The fact that this place is spotless, safe, and conveniently located aside, the super-friendly and super-squared away folks here are an absolute delight to work with. On two occasions in particular, they have gone over-and-beyond to help me with some either bizarre or challenging issues I've had. In particular, Miss Pamela and Jose and Allan have been overwhelmingly helpful and lovely. Anyone can give me a place to store my stuff. What these folks have done for the past few years is humanize what could have been a very mechanized business exchange. Thank you Public Storage, for the consistently wonderful experience. I was in the worst shelters in downtown Seattle and the staff understood what I was going through with all the thefts and drama in these horrible places. Coquita hooked me up with a storage space that was all I needed for all I had. The rest of the staff treated me with kindness and consideration which is unheard of in cities. I did everything online and went in to pick up keys. Simple as that. No paperwork. It was as easy as checking out at Amazon. I highly recommend going the online route. I'm legally blind but had zero issues thanks to the outstanding assistance from a woman named Taela/Tayla. She made me feel really comfortable throughout the whole process to the point where I completely forgot about my introvert awkwardness and anxiety issues. Taela/Tayla showed me to my unit, gave clear instructions and helpful suggestions. This was the smoothest rental I've ever done at Public Storage. read more

Getting a storage unit is a bother; but necessary sometimes. This process could not have been easier. I did it ENTIRELY online. Picked the PS location, selected the size of unit I needed (even had the choice of picking which specific unit in the facility from a floor map), rented the unit, got my access code via txt. Went to the facility an hour later, let myself in, found my lock inside my unit as promised. Easy parking inside the facility, big carts available for free during business hours. They made this chore about as easy as it could be. read more

The only reason For 2 stars is my stuff at least has stayed secure. I moved in to my unit in February. First month cost 1 dollar but it actually turned out to be $58 for fees, mandatory insurance and a lock you have to buy. So i sign an agreement for $133 plus $11 for their insurance. Fine. After i I was there 6 months they raise my rent by $30 with no notice. I asked why and they said they do it to everyone at 6 montths. What? Online they are still listing my unit for $133. My reward for being such a good customer. Then one day I closed my door while inside MY Unit. and a manager sneaks up, bangs on my door, whips it open & yells at me! I HAVE to keep the door open! What?? Days later another manager tells me I can only be up in my unit for 30 minutes at a time. What? I rent my unit to store items I sell online I go into my unit to package said items for shipping. Some days I'm there for a long time & in the summer it's so hot you can't breeze in the winter it's so cold is Is unbearable. Climate controlled my ass! They make up rules as they go. You need permission to use the restroom & they're only open till 7 PM. Pick a different place this one sucks. read more

BEWARE OF RATS & MICE !!!! They are willing rent the units knowing the have a rat and mice infestation!! And the insurance they have you get for a extra $14 a month is a JOKE !!! They will not cover anything more than $250 in damages! I spoke with the property manger she was nice and that's great but the fact they have not shut down or warn future customers or existing customers about their RAT & MICE problem is not right. My husband and I rented a untit for ONE month and got our stuff out and upon moving into our new place mice we're running out of our boxes and when we're in packing we found damages from the RATS & MICE ! And when I called to complain the property manager knew about this problem with the RATS & MICE and said it was an existing problem because of the homeless. This company does not care about customers or your belongs. At the end of the day they just want to steal your money. And have you sign up for a insurance that is a joke. If your want here your belongs will get damaged and the insurance they have only covers $250 worth of damages. read more

This location has has an infestation of mice for some two months and they don't tell the customers. I found out today when I was moving my stuff out and found lots of mice droppings and a dead mouse. When I asked the staff about the mitigation strategy for the clients, such as paying for cleaning of upholstered furniture, they said they didn't have one. They further informed me that since I didn't buy the extra insurance, I would need to rely on my homeowner's insurance if I have damages. I could go on and on about how unsympathetic the staff were to the situation. They told me to read the lease which clearly states they don't have any liability. The staff is kind of aloof, but they are polite and they get the job done: keys, carts, explanation, parking, bathroom etc. The entire building is always clean and tidy, and it is well patrolled: the staff noticed right away that our space hadn't been locked properly the one time we didn't. Ugh! I do not recommend! ! ! 1. Huge rodent problem. All of my items have been in tightly closed bins and there were mouse droppings EVERYWHERE. Staff said with a snarky smile that they do indeed have a problem. 2. Prices increase dramatically. I had three small units and each increased over 15% during the last three years. 3. The Seattle Dearborn location is NOT SAFE!!! On 11/25 I went to my unit to get holiday decor. I was by myself on the 5th floor. Upon leaving there was a young man completely out of it ("tweaking") right by the elevator. He was pacing, talking to himself and acting incredibly irrationally and in an intimidating manner. He kept shouting that he didn't know how he got up there and but couldn't go down. There are intercoms next to the elevators and I pressed them over and over to reach the office. Nothing. I did not want to get stuck in the elevator with this man so I returned to my locker and waited for 30 minutes until he left. I went to the office to tell them about this incident and they just smiled and told me that the intercoms don't work but not to worry because the man had left. Five weeks later I had a terrifying experience. Returning my holiday decor, I went up the elevator alone (yes, you need a code) and assumed I was the only one on the floor as it was dark and I tripped on the lights as I walked to my unit. A few moments later there was very aggressive shouting nearby ("Who the f*ck is there? and "Who woke me up? I'm going to come f*ck up your shi!t!") I'm not one to scare super easily but this was frightening as his shouts kept getting louder and louder. I went into my unit and called the front desk which went straight to voicemail. I left a whispered message to please come up. The man continued to yell and said he was coming out to f*ck up whoever was there. I then went inside my unit, pulled down the metal door (amongst the rodent droppings) and again called the office and left a message on their VM. (I should have called 911 but felt that it would be much faster for an employee to come up.) About ten minutes later I heard a cart and saw that an employee had come to my unit with the janitorial cart. It was quiet at that moment and he told me that no one was there because everyone has to have a code to go up the elevators. He basically gaslighted me and tried to nullify my concern. We then saw a man leaving a unit down the hall who was only wearing underwear. The employee told me "yeah, he's homeless and we must have missed him in our sweep last night." I then went to the front office and told them what happened. They showed absolutely no concern for me. I was very careful not to yell or blame them (the problems at Dearborn are larger than the hourly employees) but they do have terrible customer service when issues arise. They just sat there. Not even, "I'm sorry this happened to you." I asked for the district manager's # and spoke to him later that day. He was more apologetic but told me that the intercoms will not be fixed and I don't need to worry anymore because they evicted the guy who was yelling as he was apparently living in his unit on the 5th floor. He also said that no other safety measures were needed (I suggested at the very least the office should be picking up calls.) He also scolded me for not calling the police as the employees could have been in danger as well. The next day I spoke to the regional manager and she just said that if I move to another Public Storage they will wave the administration fee. Fortunately I found a wonderful clean and SAFE storage facility that had a new opening and the prices are lower. Today I gladly left Public Storage forever. Tracy H. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PUBLIC STORAGE. Yes it's a new building and that's nice but the elevators sound extremely dangerous when riding inside... I'm talking grinding and unusual tension sounds unlike any other elevator I've been in. They are only open 8 to 7? Not to mention they close the gates to one side early and elevators stop working at 650... that's strange- when a grocery store is open until 7 you have until 7 to get there. Sure, it's polite to get there early but shit happens. Have you ever thought about having storage unit that's only open while you're at work? Not to mention it's impossible to get in and out on the weekends because it's packed. There is literally always multiple people working on weekdays sitting inside talking about nothing work related. How about use that money to stay open past regular work hours? The bathrooms have been dirty and gross at every hour, every time I use them. I'm talking first one there at 8:03and it was wrecked. And you have to wait in line to ask one of them to come open it for you!? Luckily there's usually 5 people standing around but on the weekend... Good luck. They don't volunteer any information other than here's your unit. Meanwhile they have sales all the time where you can get way better deals, call first and don't go to this location!! They don't tell you that you can prorate your unit up to only 6 days for the month. They don't tell you that you have to purchase a stupid proprietary lock and pay administration fees until you're ready to sign up and gtfo and then all the sudden your first bill is 60 bucks extra, surprise! The only reason why I give it 2 stars instead of a middle finger is because the building is new. read more

There are RATS. We found droppings and set traps, but the next day bait was gone and no dead rats when we came to check. If I could give zero stars I would. We are on the sixth floor and they don't die with the traps. Evolved rats roam these halls. Don't go here if you have the choice. read more

They have a policy for insuring their carts don't get stolen by keeping your driver's license at the front desk until you return the key to the lock that secures the cart. I complied and when I returned with the key they had given my driver's license to another customer. All other issues this presents aside, it took several days to get my license back. It is a system that doesn't work anyway, because the don't check to see if the customers actually lock and secure the cart before they bring the key back. read more
