I rented a unit from Metro for a year. I was unsure of the size I needed but Tom was great at helping me out. I checked out 8 other storage facilities around the area and knew for sure this was the exact place for me. Starting off, you can't access any of the other floors without a personal code. Secondly, the locks they use aren't the standard padlocks that can be cut off. They have it in the office for purchase so you don't have to worry about looking for it. It included 3 keys and I would recommend leaving one there in case you ever forget your key or lose it. It's very clean and well maintained. Like I said, my stuff was in storage for a year and there were no musky smells following it. The ventilation is great, it can get warm at times so dress lightly. We borrowed the truck 3 times (the rates are better compared to other places) since we were slowly moving things in and had no issues. Just call them to make sure it's available. I moved out earlier than what I paid through so they refunded me back the difference. I didn't expect it but it was nice to be at a place where you didn't feel like all they wanted to do was take all your money. Overall, I loved this place and was sad to leave. Tom was great, we need more people like him in the world. He was lots of help from the beginning to end, I couldn't be happier. I am concerned with some mold on antique furniture last visit I had. My belongings have been in Metro for over two years...and this last year there was a spillage of "wine" in another unit, so I was told by Tom. I have not been able to removed my things as I am waiting for an apartment on a waiting list. Tom said there was no quarentee of "damage" on the contract. Yes, I have my own rental insurance. I am hoping to have this resolved at time of removal of my property. read more

Yeah I'm not super sure what happened here. The placed seemed great. I loved they had an online reservation system, and I could seeing prices. They offered free truck usage and covered loading dock and all that. I was happy to find them. I put in an online reservation on the 4th for a move-in date on the 10th. I received an email on the 5th letting me know my reservation was accepted and I had 3 days before a deposit would need to be paid to hold the unit. While this was a bit earlier than my stated move-in date, I thought it would be fine. I received a call from Andrew at 6pm on the 6th telling me my 3-day hold was over and I needed to call and pay a deposit before they close or I lose the unit. This was confusing given the dates. So I responded to the reservation confirmation email and asked what the situation was. I was told that the 6th was the end of my 3-day hold and therefore I needed to pay a deposit, but they would extend my hold until the 10th. That was nice of them, but I was still confused because the 5th to the 6th is not 3 days. I asked about this, and the manager told me that my reservation was made in the system on 6/4/19 8:56pm and therefore the 4th was the 1st day and the 6th the 3rd. These numbers still do not add up to me. I think using my 1st day on the 4th, when the reservation wasn't even confirmed until the 5th and with the online reservation being made at the ass-end of the day, is poor service. I told Tommy that the 4th to the 5th is 1 day, and the 5th to the 6th is 2 days so even based on his explanation the days weren't adding up. I just became very uncomfortable with how this all played out. I appreciate Tommy extending my reservation, but to act as though those numbers add up to their policy specifications is poor customer service at the least, and frankly felt more like corporate gaslighting. I asked for my reservation to be canceled since Tommy did not offer any further explanation. Perhaps this wouldn't bothered you, and that is fine. It did me. I didn't want to keep bumping up against shady ways to con money out of customers; the risk and energy it would take was just not worth it to me. So just as a heads-up to others. read more

This place is great! It's affordable, clean, well equipped, and very well run. I also appreciate that it is open later hours than many other nearby facilities. There was always plenty of parking spots, carts, and elevators available. The process both to set up and to discontinue my rental space was quick and easy. I prepaid and was given a quick refund on my overpayment. The best part of my experience was the management. Andrew, the assistant manager, was very professional and helpful from beginning to end. He even made a courtesy call to check on my rental after I'd vacated but not yet ended my lease. He clearly cares about the customers, and it's much appreciated. Metro Self Storage is one of the newest and state of the art storage facilities in Lake City. Convenient to I5, Lake City Way and the mall. I love the 2 loading bays, especially if its raining! The staff there are friendly & professional and their office is open 7 days a week! Access hours are what I expected. Who wants people in the building when the office isn't open?? The office building and bathrooms are sparkling clean & I love the decorations during the holidays. Last year they even hosted a FREE Barbecue! Keep up the good work! read more

I have used this new, attractive, conveniently located on a state highway (522), several bus routes, and secure (when they are closed, no one can get inside, isn't that the way it should be?) heated storage facility for nine years now. I use it to store personal goods and some of my business records and inventory for my "Dr. QuickBooks and Quicken - I make house calls" consulting business that helps people setup their books, reviews what they have done, provides support and troubleshooting, and trains them one on one. I find the hours (8-8 M-F, 8-7 Sat, and 9-6 Sun at the time of this writing) very convenient for someone who works during the day. Like most businesses, I am glad that they give their employees federal holidays off and they have been upfront with me about when they are open and when they are closed. Tommy, the manager is friendly and easy to deal with. He frequently has coffee brewing and the bathrooms are kept very clean. I do agree that if you come to the office they sometimes are closed because they are busy serving other potential clients but that is the nature of small businesses. If they always had two people in the office, we would have to pay for it with higher rental storage fees. If you want to pay over the phone, they do take credit cards. They recently knocked out a wall so their users could use one of two elevators instead of one in the two covered loading bays with plenty of parking inside. That made using the place more convenient. If you get a unit on floors five or six, be aware that those floors get very warm in the summer but stay nice and room temperature in the winter. Floors one and two are the opposite. Best bet are floors three and four. I have referred two friends and one neighbor to this heated storage facility. read more

Super clean, efficient staff. Very secure. One time I got on the elevator with another tenant and didn't put in my pass code, and within minutes of unlocking my space the manager was checking me since the alarm had gone off. The poster below (Cindi), must not have been paying attention when she rented and was told what the hours are. Sure it sucks to not have access at 1 in the morning but I'd prefer security to junkies hanging out in the warm hallways. Also, paying rent was super easy because they have this thing called the internet where you can make your payments without having to write a check (whatever that is :)) and you can do it anytime from your home without dropping it in a box. I can't wait to move out in a few weeks! I picked it simply because it was close to my sublet. Inconvenient hours - more so than I ever imagined when I decided to rent there! Inconvenient location to get in/out of when traffic is heavy on Lake City Way. You have to buy a weird barrel/cylinder type lock that I've never seen anywhere before at $10. No drop box to leave payments. Which made it enjoyably annoying to stop by 3x today to leave a payment & the office was closed b/c they were out doing something on the property. You can NOT access your unit when the office is closed - which I've NEVER experienced before [same company owns Cascade Storage in North Bend which was great with access up to at least 10pm even though office closed at 6pm]. OH, and the BEST thing - I went to get my bike and some luggage out on 4th of July. Locked up tighter than a drum! Grrrrr. No notice was emailed to mailed to renters as far as I know. If I had known I'd have NO access to my unit that day - I would've made arrangements to get my things earlier. I almost had to go buy new luggage until I was able to borrow from someone. If you want convenient storage that fits into a typical 9-5 type office hourse, great. If not, go elsewhere. Only pro is that it was clean & well lit. read more

This is the best place around if you want to have your things secure and deal with guys that run the facility that mean business so don't just compare prices because the little extra is worth it and I tell you I was feeling really glad knowing my things were there when we had lost our storage key and real concerned about who we thought may have had the key because they had a phone of ours as well and we worried that they may try to gain entry and take our stuff . An excellent facility with great staff. Compared to other storage facilities we have used, this one is new, *clean*, *well-lit with excellent security system*, and has convenient covered parking/loading zones. Elevators are large, and a wide variety of unit sizes (we have used several types) are offered. Flatbed loading carts are available, and they are very solid-state with great wheels. The office area is well-lit and welcoming, and restrooms are always kept clean. The other big factor that makes this such a great place is the staff. Tom, the manager, is knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and always provides excellent customer service. He's not pushy--he listens well and really makes the effort to determine what best matches your needs. His colleague, Shawna, provides the same excellent customer service--which means consistent and reliable service throughout. Highly recommended--it's even worth your going a little out of your way to have the peace of mind that your goods are stored in a clean, safe environment and that staff will be personable, helpful, and knowledgeable when you need assistance. I rented a 4x5 unit at Metro Heated Storage for a month. I drove up to Seattle with a sedan's worth of stuff and the 4x5 was more than enough space. Parking was easy, the facilities felt clean and safe, and the hours are great - open on weekends and until 8pm on weekdays. Tommy was super friendly and helpful as well! Pros: Clean and well-secured. Metro is a new multi-floor facility, so the premises and rental units are clean and appear well-maintained. Also, there is a code system for the elevator. Tenants only have access to the floor where their rental unit is. This feature provides more security than facilities with open access. (Please note: These two pros kept Metro from a one-star rating.) Cons: Rental rates that seem to fluctuate on a whim. (Serious fail.) I began to use this facility in January 2009. The original terms were agreeable to me. 50% off the monthly rate for the first three months and then the regular, full rate ($132) each month after that on a month-to-month lease. No problem, until the 7th month of my lease when, with no written notice, the monthly rental rate was raised nearly 30% (to $186 per month). I thought it was a mistake. Perhaps my account was confused with another tenant's account? When I spoke with the manager on the phone, I was assured that the invoice was correct, and that the current rate of $132 for my unit was *only* for the first six months of my lease. The new rate was "the usual" amount for that unit, and therefore the amount stated on the current invoice was accurate. Well, I disagreed vigorously with the manager's statements. Nowhere in my lease did it specify that the $132 per month rate was *only* for the first six months of my lease. My lease states $132 a month each month until either party terminates the lease. There was no clause in the lease that mentioned a six month exclusion for a rise in rental rates or that even provided for it. (Silly me for assuming that meant $132 would be the rental rate until I chose to leave the unit.) I stated that the new rent was an unwelcome surprise and certainly more than I would be willing to pay per month for that storage space. Then, when I asked what was required of me to vacate the unit and terminate my lease, the manager backpedaled and offered the unit to me for $150 per month for the next six months. I wasn't interested in negotiation. From where I was standing, the manager had just broken the terms of my lease and was now wheeling and dealing to keep me in the space. (Goodwill = Burned.) I said she would be receiving my written notice of termination within the next day or so. Then she said that "wasn't necessary," as she was the manager, and "verbal notice would be fine." I said that verbal notice would not be fine for ME, and that I would send the letter shortly and keep a copy for myself, thank you very much. So, all I can say about this place is TENANT BEWARE. If you choose to rent a unit at this facility, I recommend you have the leasing agent spell out the terms of your lease (particularly the monthly rental rate and its precise duration) in excruciatingly exact detail to be sure this situation doesn't happen to you. read more

I usually never do this but because the folks at this place were so accommodating and helpful as all get out-- I am writing a review. Building- is nice, clean. I thought it had great access because of the huge loading area on the side street. Office is nice and always smells like coffee! My storage unit- was a large unit (I was transitioning into a new house). The staff- helped me find movers who were quick and cost effective. They were also knowledgeable about the size I needed. This was nice because they explained options on how our stuff could potentially be stored, being a visual person it was very helpful. Moving Out- a breeze. I had a storage unit once that made me give a 30 day notice to the exact day I was moving out. That was about 20 years ago though so it may be different now but still it was an easy process. If I ever need storage again I most definitely will be using them. Great experience and I highly recommend them. read more

This place is competitively priced, and we stored our stuff there for over 3 years and did not experience huge rate increases. Also liked that one could pay ahead and save money (1 month free for paying in advance for a year). The staff was always polite and helpful and I have no hesitation in recommending this facility. My only complaint is that the light in our unit for some reason stopped working and it was never fixed. On the other hand they cheerfully provided a light we could hang when working in the dark recesses of our unit. read more
