I would give this 0 star if it was available. The absolute worst place of business I have ever set foot into. First off the clerk was having a bad day and cussing out the customers for no reason. The business closes on the regular because of no employees. Everything is the facility is filthy, it never gets cleaned. Doors and locks don't work on certain floors. Drug addicts sleeping and shooting up in the parking stalls right in front of the entrance. (I Parked next to a guy who had a needle hanging out of his arm while passed out) Absolutely no customer service if you need to call and speak to someone, good luck! Also read the fine print of your contract (section 2.2) apparently your rent is adjusted periodically without consent and can double over night. DO NOT store here. Multiple issues over the past 4 months made this experience extremely stressful with delays at every turn and hours spent trying to reach customer service to no avail. Details: 1) POWER OUTAGE: Our 4th floor unit was in the dark due to power outage. We learned this the day before our rental began upon inspection. As there were no alternative units that size available, we had to move into our unit in the pitch black. We were assured power would be back soon, certainly within a couple months. But, we moved out in pitch black 4 mo later. At our move-out, staff still had no estimate for when lights will be fixed & no lighting solution (we purchased our own lanterns to use). 2) ELEVATOR BREAKING: On day 1 moving stuff in, the only elevator lost internet connection/wouldn't accept code, then froze with people stuck inside with loud buzz & not opening for a few min (giving people quite a fright). There is no other way to access upper floor units. On our 2ndand final day moving stuff in, the elevator fully broke ~1pm, freezing shut 1 hour. After reporting this to the front desk, they informed us the elevator was out of service & maintenance takes at least 24 hrs. Many families were impacted, including a student who could not complete an exam since her laptop was upstairs in her unit. We could no longer access our half-full, carefully packed (in the dark!) 4th floor unit. Since our apt lease was up, & unit access ends 6pm, we had no option but to rent an additional unit at ground-level. This took 1.5 hours to straighten out, leaving us minimal time before closing to rush to complete moving our stuff to this new unit. Given our frustration now paying for TWO storage units, we were given the contact info for someone (Al) to talk to... 3) CUSTOMER SERVICE: Despite our multiple outreach attempts and a few brief convos with Al over 3-4 wks, we were not called back despite multiple assurances that we would be called back next-day. We eventually were ghosted; no calls or voicemails were ever returned. We called back Connie who assured us that was the person to reach. Upon our unit move-out, when we summarized these issues, Connie noted Al had left Public Storage. She gave us a different number for Customer Service. We called & entered a ticket. Over the next 2 wks we received multiple calls from Public Storage asking for various people with a completely wrong name and ticket. 4) KEYPAD ISSUES: On our unit move-out day, the keypad on an internal set of doors (to access ground-level units) was taped over such that we could not enter/it wouldn't accept our code. As this was before office hrs, we had to wait till staff arrived. They seemed surprised by the tape, noting "They're painting, I don't know what's up." Staff propped the door open all day. Oddly, when we first moved stuff in, we got a keypad code but realized the door was perpetually unlocked - the code did nothing. So, it's either fully unlocked (not secure) or locking folks out of their units. 5) Unit access 6am-6pm only. Do not assume you have 24/7 nor good evening access! We (& other families) were not clearly told access hours at check-in. Office is staffed for a shorter period (9:30am-6), so if you have issues 6am-9:30am you have no help. The only hours posted on all lobby/front doors are office hours (see photos) which is misleading. We ran into many families who arrived ~5:45pm with a full moving truck only to be told the place was closing in 15 min. 6) No functioning restroom. 7) No functioning elevator hold button. If unloading a piece of furniture into/out of the elevator takes more than 10 seconds, one person must physically block the doors while another gets the stuff out before its slammed. 8) No schedule for moving trucks and only one load ramp, so if people have moving trucks at the same time it gets tight. 9) Entire parking lot is on a significant slope so dolleys, boxes all roll down. You are not allowed to back car up door to unload. read more

Good and clean. Only bad things were the elevator being super old and the doors inside being super old and heavy without any kind of door stopper to make it easier to push a cart through! The staff is friendly and helpful. Also- the hours of operation close fairly early and inconvenient for people that work full time during the day. read more

Another horrible experience even after talking to upper management. The Lake City Way storage facility harasses me every time I go to get a load of my things out of storage. I assume its because I'm Black because I've not seen white customers treated the way I have been treated. Unfortunately filing police report for harassment with Seattle police today. So far I'm throughly unimpressed. Even though I started in the middle of the month, I paid the rate for a full month. With only 3 parking spaces there is not enough room for people. I'm here right now and there are 6 cars, one minivan, and a truck jockeying for space. As far as I can tell they only have two flatbed trucks??? And to top it all off, the automatic doors are not responding to the app, so there is just a door propped open. Wow. Too bad they have the most locations. When you have the the biggest share of the market, quality is job 10. read more

Worst storage facility we've ever used. 1) There's a serious safety hazard when accessing our unit - the doors to the hallway are extremely heavy with no way to hold them open - they snap shut on you and your cart of stuff. Impossible to move alone and barely possible with two people - one person each holding a door open, one pushing the cart with the other hand. 2) There was a STRONG smell of gas on our entire floor. 3) Our unit became infested with moths and destroyed our couch and chairs. 4) Very inefficient that you have to enter your keycode to open the elevators, then again seconds later to press your floor. 5) This place is on a steep hill and you feel like you're going to fall off it in your moving truck. What kind of public storage has NO ONE in office at 12:40PM? It was my first-time checking in. The gate is locked. There's nobody in the front desk so I could not get in. They did not text me the gate access code in advance so I had to call. I waited for 15 minutes until someone pick up the phone with such an attitude like I owe her money. They also did not make it clear that the 5x5 space is elevated, so we had to use a poorly-designed ladder to access it. The position of the storage space and the design of the ladder made it impossible to open the storage door when I am on the ladder. So someone has to MOVE AROUND THE LADDER WHEN I AM ON IT to make it work. Terrible experience. read more

This was the closest available storage to my daughter's University. The day prior to our reservation, I received a text message with the building codes and instructions which I found very helpful. Building was very clean and looks like a newer building. They had plenty of carts to help you load your stuff. There's a code to enter the main door and another door code to enter another area where our storage was. It felt very secure. Met the manager briefly and she was very helpful answering our questions and guiding us to our unit. read more

I've been renting at this location since December 2019. The facility is OK, there is very little parking. When I started renting I was told I could use my own lock, which was fine for about 6 months until I was told that I needed to buy Public Storage's own lock to put on the unit as well, whatever. The unit I have is in a warehouse-like room with a few dozen other units, not climate controlled, open top for some reason. Public Storage recommends you buy absorbing packets to put in the unit (which of course they sell), but it feels useless as the top of the unit is basically open with just wire fencing as protection. I figured the non-climate control was fine as I was paying a fairly low price. Anyways, after a year and a half Public Storage decided to increase my rent from $31 to $70 (increase of almost 150%). Public told me a card had been sent notifying me of the change (never saw one but whatever). They also told me that I am paying well below what a new customer would pay, which is not true, similar units are selling for a few dollars less at this not super ideal location and far far less at other Public Storage locations which do have climate control. Don't waste your money here, or at any other Public Storage location, I won't be from now on. read more

We've had a storage unit here for years, and it has gotten very expensive. They raise the rates about twice a year. I recently looked at the units they're advertising online, and it appears we're being charged about twice as much. I spoke with the office manager and she said she could not lower our rates. So I'm renting a different unit in the same building for half as much and moving my stuff, which is ridiculous and time consuming. So - don't rent here unless you'll be out in 6 months. Other than that, it's a reasonably nice storage place. read more

Zero stars for this public storage. I got an email last night letting me know that the rate was increasing by 40 dollars which is 30% of my rent. I called to talk to the manager who told me I received an email in February, I check and did not receive an email so she then says well you got a letter in the mail. Which I did not. They bait you in with a low initial rent then just arbitrarily raise it. Use a local company. read more

I always for the managers name, but she is always friendly and helpful as are all the staff ive interacted with which is just about all of them at one time or another I wished they were open later than 6PM M-F and 5Pm SAT and SUN, but thats just my personal opinion, and many others feel that same way due to the fact most folks barely even make it home by that closing time so 8PM would make it more user realistic which is the closing time at a handful of other locations But I do happen to like everything else(price can be a little disappointing, after just 2 months my rent went up by 10% which I personally don't think is fair....but its a Seattle way nowadays) This is to me a great location read more

I wouldn't recommend this location. After just a few months of storage, they increased my rent by 25% in one shot, presumably to pay for "improvements" I noticed they'd been making... and by improvements I mean they added a bunch of new units in what used to be the loading bays. So, more units for them, more difficult/less accessible loading in and out for renters. Their elevator access is way out of date and a huge pain... a very long code you can't choose, so you need to pull the card out each time to type it in before the elevator will work. Surely with rent increases every few months, they could afford a fob system, or something that doesn't require juggling your items to pull out a business card with a 10 digit code, which needs to be entered at a certain time in the elevator's call process. I'm currently looking for a new space. read more

I had rented this storage unit with a friend before the beginning of summer and had planned to leave it there till the end of September. The day of my move out day I realized I had lost my key. This location is incredibly run down. The elevator is and has been broken for most part of the year we've been customers. The big bay doors are always broken. This storage facility is old, needs updating.... it's shameful. The on site staff are aware but apparently (they claim) are helpless to do anything about it. Upper management refuses to make any repairs or improvements. When questioned about condition of the facility by another customer, the response is to go elsewhere. And yet we just recently got a nice new rent increase. There are plenty of storage facilities in the area. STAY AWAY from this one. read more

The on-site staff was very argumentative when I brought any issue forward. Throughout the month that I have been there, there were break-ins, the garage broke twice, and I personally had to kick out a few homeless tweekers. I was told I would only pay $25/mo for the first two months, when I signed the lease, I was told I would have to pay $60+ for the first month and then my second month would be pro-rated at $79 for a week, then my "3rd" month would be $249. When I asked questions about the pro-rate and the 3rd months rent, management was quick to argue. Overall poor experience and not a safe place to store. Started in March 2013 and was good until last month when the website threw an error trying to pay the bill which I had done since I moved in. Called the corporate number and they refused to assist and would not waive the phone surcharge. Yesterday (5/17/2015) I was in the unit starting to move things out and saw that I was broken into. Nothing appears to be taken just damaged. Inside job? Not sure (there was no evidence of lock or door damage getting into the unit), but getting out ASAP as a result!!!!! read more

Ransacked by burglars on Thanksgiving 2015. I've mostly stored furniture and holiday stuff at this location for several years. I got a call the day after Thanksgiving saying there had been a break in at my unit, which I hadn't visited in months. When I got there noticed that the building itself was very run down, with lots of graffiti on the front. A shady recreational marijuana store is now located next door where Midas used to be. The place is dirty and the inside smells. The staff was utterly unhelpful in assisting with the process of filing an insurance claim, refusing to give me a copy of their police report because she claimed it was confidential. Quality businesses don't treat customers as adversaries. Of course there was no staff on duty on Thanksgiving, a fact that was obviously well known to the burglars. Do the math. read more

I've been a customer here for MANY years. Great facility, management is always helpful & quick to assist. Only giving 4 stars here, because of 1) limited carts available for use - AND 2) due to limited access hours (only till 6pm). I understand that they've had carts stolen- and the limited access hours are necessary for the safety of both customers & staff, because they've been experiencing a lot of vandalism & theft at this location- which they are taking steps to deal with. Still, my rating is lower as a result of the inconvenience to myself as an existing customer. Otherwise, on-site staff & Managers are great, and I'm happy with the facility. Would recommend to anyone needing storage space. read more

The on-site staff has always been friendly. The on-site staff turns over regularly and probably the district staff as well - this can't be a plum location for staff. The building is old, dirty and requires constant maintenance. It is disconcerting when the garage doors are broken and anyone can gain access to the building at night. It is disconcerting that the elevator & carts are so dirty one doesn't want to put their stuff on them. I am not fond of the hours since I was once stranded downstairs with my unit open upstairs...the elevator stops at 9...why? People may live there from time to time but I've not been hassled or concerned by any other customers. I feel safe enough - as a 60+, urban woman. And, finally, the bathroom is useable! My storage unit is very conveniently located in the facility which is the only reason I am still at this Public Storage. I would be very happy if the company did a major, industrial cleaning of the garage area and elevator! read more

My husband had a great experience today dealing with someone named Paul who was super professional, friendly and helpful. Paul was able to get us a great deal on a storage we needed and was helpful answering any questions that came up and he came across as super knowledgeable about products and other services that were available but he was not at all pushy which was very appreciated. The place looks like a dump and would be a perfect location for a horror movie. The elevators barley work, and the workers are comparable. If I could put ZERO stars I would. These people steal your stuff. Don't fall for their BS. Don't use their locks. Don't tell them when you're checking out. Don't use a unit on the bottom floor, they jump on top of it and pull stuff out through the top of the wire ceiling. What a POS company they don't give a crap about your stuff. Break in happens all of the time and they do nothing. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. You would be better off donating all of your stuff to shelters since there won't be any of your things left when you come back for it. read more

If anyone else has been a victim of theft from this business please come forward and contact me, I'm thinking class action lawsuit. When a business is run poorly, does not use money to properly address issues, and does not provide proper security such as having more cameras etc.. They should be penalized.
