I only recently started using urban storage. today when I was there the office manager stated that I could only be there 20min. I said that I don't remember signing anything that said that I could only be there 20min at a time, and he pointed at me and said yes I'll show you and then said that I couldn't have food or drink in my unit because he saw a bottle of water that I brought with me. I told him that I would have to go over the agreement again and asked him to not point at me that I didnt want any trouble he was overly aggressive and said he didn't point at me and said I don't know what I'm talking about. I was there aboit 45min according to him and I was searching for a tracking numbe from the post office that I lost. I went to get a copy of my lease and he wouldnt answer the door. one star and maybe I'll change this review later read more

He also gave me good advice about best practices to avoid lengthy deposit returns, so I followed their advice for my proration, and appreciated them taking the time to help me with this. Hello. My father is a customer at Urban Self Storage in Capitol Hill. There is a sign on the outer door of this location that states: Masks required upon entry of all storage areas. Thank you and stay safe. My father had stated to me that he noticed the manager of this location in the building, outside of their personal office area, without a face mask on. Today (August 1st, 2020) around 1:19 PM I was helping my father take additional items to his storage area. My father and I were wearing face masks. We were in the elevator and the carriage stopped on level 1. The doors opened and the manager was outside of the elevator doors, in a public area, again with no mask on. I had to ask the manager to back up from the elevator entrance; as he was about 2-3 feet away from my father. The manager also seemed oblivious to the social distancing guidelines of staying at least 6' away from others if you are not wearing a mask. This behavior is unacceptable for a employees of an essential business in WA State during the Covid-19 pandemic. I would like an explanation as to why Urban Self Storage is not adhering to the WA State Facemask requirements that states "Washington employers must ensure workers wear face coverings at work in almost all situations. Employers must provide face coverings if workers do not have them. Employers must comply with this order, which is enforced by the Department of Labor & Industries." If this behavior continues I will be forced to file a complaint against Urban Self Storage to the WA State Department of Health. (https://coronavirus.wa.gov/report-safe-start-violation) There is also a serious insect infestation/ problem inside my fathers unit, the 5th floor, inside the elevator, as well as public areas inside the building. Small flying gnat like insects seem to be everywhere I have been inside the building. There are so many insects that you can find them inside your car after leaving the location. read more

He provided a swift experience and made an excellent long lasting impression on us which he honestly did not have to but he made us feel like we came first and even when he answered the phone for other callers made them feel respected and appreciated for their incoming business. I called before to ask several questions before opting in for their offer and it was far better than many other quotes from other competitors in this area. Mom and Pops company gives a better experience and more personalized than other more expensive priced and larger companies. Give them a visit! You wont regret it! And ask for Chuck. read more

Burney and crew were wonderful in helping me with moving my stuff to Seattle. I had never even driven in Seattle and was worried about driving a cargo trailer full. He explained to me the best exit off the freeway to use, so that I would be facing the right direction for the best unloading. He even made sure I got the trailer into the loading area. The rates were super reasonable and the first month was half off. The unit was fairly clean, the hallways have bright, automatic lights, and I felt safe and that my stuff was well protected. I have to echo what everyone else has said about Burney and crew: They were super helpful, polite, and a joy to do business with. I actually felt bad that I didn't have to keep my stuff here longer, because they were so nice to work with. But, I would use them again--in a heartbeat--if I should need storage again...and I would DEFINITELY recommend them to anyone who needs to store anything here in Seattle! read more

How the heck is one person expected to fit multiple seasons of clothes, different furniture, and christmas decorations all in a one bedroom apartment in downtown Seattle, while paying only $1,000 a month in rent...not going to happen....So I turned to the 12th and E.Madison Self Storage on multiple occasions and have found that their facilities are very clean, secure, well-priced and that their staff have always been pleasant and friendly to work with. They offer a wide array of storage lockers and a post office box service, at various price points. If you are planning on storing heavier items, I'd try to avoid the mezzanine level since there is no elevator access to that floor. Still manageable though, but let's face facts...If I don't have to carry that fifty pound air conditioner that I need for only a week, I ain't gonna.... Prices are pretty competitive to the nearby storage facilities. It is a little higher, but the service more than makes up for it. I have always found their staff extremely personable and very helpful when I have needed it! Parking can be a pain at times, but there is parking in the back (west of the building) on the lower level. I recommend pulling up to the lower loading dock and then loading up on the plethora of flatbed carts to take to your unit. Insider advice...avoid going in mid June when SU breaks for the year and in mid September when SU goes back in session. All of the SU kids use it for the summer to store all of their stuff and believe me...for those two weeks it can be a pain to get in and out! read more

Stop reading the other reviews RIGHT now, there is no other honest way to explain this company that isn't completely positive. People often get scared away based on a few negative reviews that they read about somewhere, and I hope it never happens to this business. Being the only college student in the area who appears to have a vehicle, I'm the one conscripted to move everyone else's stuff into storage and their new housing arrangements. I've dealt with every storage business in King County, and while I have no complaints, I understand that college students are a pain in the a** to deal with, so I understand that maybe I never have a positive time at a storage place. 12th and Madison, however, has blown me me away. We (my girlfriend and I) enter to a smile, from a person who has that old-time charm and friendliness that no one I see have anymore. Which is a big plus. It's fluff and non-important to what we want to get done, but, it never hurts to have your day be made just a little better. We explain that we only need to store stuff for less than a month, and the guy completely understands and offers us a prorated deal so that we don't have to worry about paying the full month. He takes us to show us the unit, and realizes it might not be big enough once we tell him about what we are putting in, so he offers us a slightly larger unit at the same price small-unit prorated price. We walk back to the desk, and he asks us if we already have a lock, we say no, but it would be easy to get one, he says not to worry about it, and throws a lock in for free. We get back, we sign the paperwork to reserve the place, we leave happy. Later we came back to sign the actual agreement with another person, and they were just as nice and helpful. They stepped us through all the paperwork, and made it clear the entire time we were getting the same deal that was offered by the other person. No bait-and-switching, no system errors, just genuine good customer service and good pricing. When I move someone elses furniture in the area, I will definitely recommend 12th and madison /endrant read more

Just closed my account after renting a unit for about 18 months; the service was excellent, the guys usually knew me by first name and worked with me in those months when rent was late. An example of the service happened as I closed my unit and asked to be prorated: PM Burney Campbell apologized that the system had charged me for the whole month before we could stop it and so he declined any form of payment for the few days I would have been prorated after he promised to reject the final charge. To my surprise, he handled us all with great customer service and there really wasn't much of a wait. When it was my turn, he gave me 100% of his attention. After taking a tour, even though I might not need storage just yet I will be back when I do. I just want to thank Burney for a great experience. Was having trouble finding a storage unit considering I just needed it for a few days while moving, and this was by far a great choice! The prices are good considering that Seattle is incredibly expensive, but they give you first month's rent half off, even if you're just using that unit for a month. Sure, they charge you if you need a lock (but you would need to buy one anyway), but it's all good news after that. Depending on what size you need, you can request to get a unit in one of their two buildings. The building across the street from the office has parking literally right in front of it, and you can open the big garage door to bring in a car, flatbed, or pickup truck. Once inside, the units themselves are clean, feel safe, and easy to figure out. There's a code to unlock the main door, and everyone gets their own code, which is nice. The carts inside for moving stuff down the hall are HUGE, which is a nice surprise, and the units are much larger than I expected. The customer service is great as well. I walked into the office having never rented a unit before and they walked me through the process, making sure to explain every detail to me. They were kind, friendly, and more than willing to help me out with all of my issues. I told them what I needed to fit in the unit, and they showed me one that was about the size I needed. Only flaw with the place: because it's in the middle of Seattle, you can't prop the door to get into the units open. However, if no one else is there (which no one was 5 out of the 6 times I was there), you can just pull the car inside. read more

I had a horrible experience with public storage that made me weary until I had the pleasure of doing business with madison storage. Their staff is courteous and they take pride in providing superior customer service. Their rates are also reasonable for the sizes they provide. They differentiate themselves from the likes of public storage who complicate the process, and ask you sign away your very being. If you are having a problem or need their assistance all you have to do is ask.I have used them for a year and can attest they will work to accommodate you every way possible. The customers with nasty reviews are probably the ones I have seen being rude to them which suprised me. In a year I have only seen this happen twice, and in both incidents I saw their staff remain professional and courteous, and I personally wouldn't have had that much patience. They acknowledge everyone who walks through their door, unlike other storage places where you are met with a frown and treated like a box mumber. For this reason I happily give them 5 stars and would recommend them over the others. read more
