It almost got a 5 star rating until the next day when I came in to put my stuff in my storage unit. Justin was so awesome the day before he went above and beyond. He was helpful and oh so knowledgeable he wanted me to be completely happy. Justin was not working the next day and there was an older gentleman name Jimmy (I believe) and when I walked into the office...he just looked up at me and stated rudely "our internet is down and it's going to be a while" --May I also add that he was on HOLD on the phone so he was just waiting not speaking to anyone... So I said I just had a question nothing to look up on the computer and then he said in a very curt fashion "It doesn't matter it's still going to be a while"...wait so you are telling me that you are on hold-not speaking to anyone and I have a question that you do not have to look on the computer for and you and I are just going to stare at each other (it was a quick yes or no based question, it didn't even require that much thought)?? Then I went to my locker and found that they had forgot to take their lock off my storage unit...so I went back up to the office (ish) and I just sat down in the chair until Jimmy was ready to his his job and take his company's lock off my unit so I could actually store my things in a unit I was paying for. He finally gets off the phone...and I blankly state that I need their lock off my storage unit...then he tries to explain why he was so rude (their internet had supposedly been down for hours and he was stuck on hold)....So you were stuck on hold and you were frustrated...I get it...very dramatic...but 1. don't treat your customers like garbage because you are having an off day...2. I stated my question was a yes or no...no internet or computer needed...just answer my question. If you come in make sure you are dealing with Justin...not this individual who clearly needs to be retrained. read more

When I moved in with my boyfriend I needed to store some of my belongings until we found a house to buy together. I was super nervous about theft, pests, mold, and all of the things I wasn't even thinking of. My belongings were stored here from July, 2019 to September, 2020 and I have nothing but great things to say about Seattle Self Storage. The staff were helpful and friendly with every interaction. The access hours are limited but that's because of the security measures which I found comforting because the area is pretty sketchy. I chose to manually pay every month rather than auto-debit but the process on the website is easy and intuitive. Most importantly, when I collected my belongings they were ALL just as I'd left them over a year before. No pests, no mold, no theft. I would highly recommend Seattle Self Storage. read more

Very nice staff, my experience was with the moving truck rental rather than the storage. Unlike U-Haul, SSS's Penske affiliation allows you to *actually* reserve a vehicle and have it waiting for you without worrying that they'll sell your reservation out from under you. Also unlike U-Haul, Penske's fleet are SLIGHTLY more expensive, but so much better maintained that I'd feel insane for ever going back. I was also able to pricematch to some extent, also saving me dough. Smooth as a commercial truck lined in butter, I had zero issues reserving, driving, and returning. read more

~Penske Truck Rental Only~ Moving sucks. Packing all those boxes, schlepping them up and down stairs, trying to wedge couches through doorways, the aching muscles and mess? It sucks. Simply put. So at least having a decent truck to haul your life goods from one place to another is necessary to keep a minor bit of sanity. U-haul sucks a bag of donkey balls -- old trucks that are dirty, uncomfortable, and not to mention that have that annoying protrusion into the truck where the tires sit on the back. Penske on the other hand? All their trucks are no older than 5 years old, the cabs are spacious, semi comfy, come w/ a cd player, and the trucks are huge and well maintained. Not to mention they will price match/beat anything in the area. For $29.99 we could have rented a 14 foot U-haul for 6 hours, with an additional $1.29 per mile tacked on. And that doesn't include insurance. For the time frame we needed it would have been a double rate. Lame. For $43 we had a 16 foot Penske truck WITH the insurance for a full 24 hours, with only an additional .59 cents a mile added on. I think our total was $60 for a full day of use. The guy running the self storage was no-nonsense, easy to work with. Paperwork was a breeze, returning the truck took no more than 5 minutes, and the transaction was as smooth as anything could be. They also refuse to use U-haul considering their trucks are essentially buckets on wheels. It is nice having this place close for downtown moving needs, and even though I don't hope to move for the next FOREVER, I wouldn't think twice about coming back here to rent a truck. read more

We were not sure what size unit to rent and when we walked in Justin was able to assist in choosing the right size for us. The Place is clean and easy to navigate, loading our stuff into the unit couldn't have been easier. I like a nice, clean place to put my stuff. So easy to get it in and get it out, too. A very satisying experience all the way around.

Cheap. Helpful. Friendly. Honest. My only complaint is that the hours that you can get into your unit are fairly limited. For example, they don't open until 11am on Sundays. If you were planning on a weekend full of moving, this could cut out quite a chunk of your day. read more

Unfortunately, it is not possible to give zero stars in a review or I would. My storage unit at Seattle Self Storage was broken into and all of my belongings were stolen. The locks were cut by a bolt cutter. This happened to two other units during the same time period. Seattle Self Storage cannot tell me the date that this happened, and I was notified almost two weeks after they believe the break in happened. There is no evidence from their security cameras, nor any information from their access code system. I had a large storage unit that was filled with belongings, many of which would be easily identifiable on security cameras. This was not a smash and grab theft. It was thorough and time consuming. The thieves would have had to do a complete move out of my unit, which would have taken hours, but nothing was caught on camera. In order to access the space, the thieves rented a storage unit or knew someone who did. I expect that it was one of the many homeless individuals who use the facility. This storage facility is not secure or safe for your belongings. How can an hours long theft and move out not be caught on security cameras, identified by staff, or linked to use of an access code? Do not use Seattle Self Storage unless you do not care that your belongings can be stolen with no recourse or responsibility by the facility owner. read more

Justin was very friendly and nice to deal with. I had called the place up asking what units/sizes were available and was thoroughly informed on what was available. Once I arrived Justin helped me find the correct size storage unit and even let me unload my things prior to signing anything. Once unloaded Justin helped me quickly through the paper process. I was extremely satisfied with the service I received. I had even forgot a few boxes filled with my stuff there outside and Justin called me right up and held onto them until I was able to get back.
