Rates increase in over 30% without any notice and rates "could not" be readjusted. Disappointed as I had other storage options to choose. *In reference to the response provided here. I was informed to reach out to the number below and they couldn't do anything and requested me to check back again to the storage location...so I was basically put in a loop with no resolution.

    I've had three storage units here over the couple of years…read more I bought my last storage unit online, the lady with the braids is not friendly she talks with an attitude and asks if I had a previous unit here before and I say yes. Whatever, I ignore her behavior because I already paid for the unit. I return to say my unit wasn't showing up in my account she immediately tells me "no I don't believe you". I show her. She tells me they don't train them for anything. Once again whatever, it's irritating how much of an attitude she has. I lost my keys immediately to my last unit, I payed $70 to have the lock cut with a new lock. They tell me the keys will be there in the morning the next day. I wait until 3 pm just in case. I come in the lady with the braids immediately starts asking "who did you talk to" I said I don't know she said was it a white guy like why does it matter? hella attitude she's not helpful or friendly at all. they tell me the lock isn't cut cause they needed to charge the drill for 12 hours. They will let me know tomorrow when it's done. Next day I come in once again around 1 pm they tell me that they don't have drill bits the lady in the braids says they're broke and can't buy more hella attitude , the man says they can't have someone from a different location drop a drill off or drill it because "it's almost the 15th that's the busiest time everyone is using theirs" mind you he's not even close to be rude like the other lady she starts barking at me over and over again saying I didn't lose your keys it's not my problem. I said no you didn't lose my keys but I paid for you to drill the lock and you don't even know when you can drill it? I have a two week period and I'm on a time crunch. The man says it'll be done by then forsure like okay , it'll be done but I need to access right now. The woman says I'll refund you and I tell her ok and then ima call someone else to drill it and she said no it's not allowed. (I didn't get a refund). I ask to have a unit temporarily and she immediately tells me no and she's not going to help me. I ask her to call who ever is in charge and ask them what to do and if they can have money to buy a drill because at this point they don't have a working drill, nor allow anyone to drill it. A man I assume is the manager comes in and tells me he will call the district manager immediately because I will have to pay the administrative fee, other fees, sign a whole new lease to temporary store my stuff in a different unit and he's going to ask them what to do. I already know at this point he's not going to call me. I already needed to buy a different storage unit. So congrats on them they get a whole $150 for empty storage unit. I literally bought a 10 by 10 and I have roughly 4 tubs and a Christmas tree in there. What others say about price hikes are true. The gate is always broken. Those are inconvenient sure but this lady's sheer ignorance is disgusting. I have no idea when I will be able to get my stuff out.

While doing that another employee offered my 7 year old son a cardboard U-Haul piggybank and he was super excited. On my way out I saw what was clearly a manager looking over a brand new (2 day old) U-Haul Chevy Silverado that the first renter had gotten in an accident with (they were not pleased ha). I stopped and chatted about it for a min with him and Jerome and as I was about to leave he offered to build the piggybank for my son. He was very kind and chatted it up with my kid and then he pulled out his wallet and stuck a $5 bill in the piggybank. So unnecessary and so kind! Good people exist and I know that man made my sons day, he was so excited to tell everyone at summer camp! I'm sure not many people read or care about reviews for a U-Haul (you know what they do and you're pretty much only leaving a review if you are un happy) but they now have two customers for life. It's just so refreshing to run into truly nice people and I'm so thankful that those people went above and beyond to bring joy to my son. Thank you! Unrelated but had to share... while they were filling my tank their was a fight between a bald eagle and a bunch of crows directly above us... awesome obviously. Eagle gave up and flew away but it was like an 8 on 1 so don't judge the eagle.

So I know which bin to have them bring back when it finally stops raining...c'mon shorts and flip flop weather! Their online ordering system is pretty easy to follow. You can take pictures of everything and upload it, which also makes me feel better about using them. Then they came back to pick them up. Chuck and Charlie were professional, courteous, and were very respectful with my things. I've had to use storage units before on multiple occasions and I really don't like the locations of a lot of these places. They seem so...shady. As an independent woman that's a deterrent for me. I don't wanna have to find a friend just to go grab something out of my unit and feel safe while doing it! This service takes all that away! Especially since their employees weren't sketchy at all! I'd totally recommend this place for storage! It's hassle free and takes one stress away from my already stressful life.

We rented out a…read morestorage unit as a place to keep some personal keepsakes while we traveled the US. while traveling, we got a call that there's some damage to our unit and water was seen leaking out, however, as we were states away -there was not much we could do aside from send another family member to check but they denied them entry and when we tried to find a work around, they flat out refused to call us back now back in Washington we have made our way back to the storage unit only to discover that there's no record of the repeated calls to speak to the manager and promises that he would return my phone calls, and it's "not their fault" sooo we will absolutely not be recommending them in hopes no one else has to deal with this.. oh and to top it off during the non existent return phone calls we did indeed get an email telling us they were raising everyone's rates.

Pricing is what it is (lots of businesses have an intro rate that goes up eventually, but talk to them and they can help you sort it out). Way better than my last place. Feel safer and got a better rate. Plus they have good move in specials online, take advantage of those. Depending on supply and demand, a bigger unit might be cheaper than a smaller one.

    I rented a unit at 1st Ave Storage for close to 20 years, and management used to be great there (I…read morebelieve Emmet(?) was the longtime manager there, but he left a few years ago). I just recently moved out, as things have gotten shadier and shadier around there. The security/safety around the building has become questionable, especially with the RV camp out back. With that said--the worst part, frankly, is the owner. Charlie is his name, and he basically refused the pro-rated refund that 3 people working at his facility ALL said I would receive. I did a speedy move out April 16, as the manager there told me I could get the pro-rated refund if I cleared my unit out asap, rather than wait until end of month. Great! Sadly, I never received the refund, and even thought the 3 different employees told me I should get it--Charlie apparently refused to follow through, telling his manager "we don't pro-rate". But... all 3 of your employees told me you do...!? When I asked to have Charlie call me directly, I was told Charlie said: "I don't talk to customers directly." I explained I would warn people on Yelp if Charlie doesn't bother calling me back, and his reply (through his employee, since he doesn't talk to customers): Fine, post on Yelp. Additionally, when I rented a U-Haul from them, the gas tank was not even filled. Apparently owner Charlie keeps just a quarter tank in there, claiming it's due to the RV camp stealing gas. But... he will penalize truck renters if they don't return the truck at exactly the maybe kinda quarter-ish level the tank had. Makes it real hard for truck renters to fill up ONLY the amount they use. Hmmm... SO... Be warned. Charlie the owner does not follow through, and frankly does not step up when he should. I moved to another storage facility that provided better rates in a more convenient location... and a safer location. I didn't realize perhaps the best benefit to moving: not supporting a shady owner. I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1 because of the years of good service I had when previous management was great, the place was more secure, and shady business practices didn't impact me. I guess owner Charlie's integrity was lost in parallel with the decline of the community around there :-\ Buyer beware--think twice before using 1st Ave Storage.
