I have had a unit for over 10 years and the prices keep going up. I have shown them my renter's insurance, yet they insist that I pay for additional insurance. When I first got the unit, I had 24/7 access. Now I'm being told I have to pay even more for this access. Entrance door has been broken for over a month, and no schedule for fixing it. That means access is only available during office hours, not the promised access hours that are still shown on the website. Now there are a few paper signs posted inside, but no way to know the hours are limited until you get in there. Manager yelled at me when I tried to ask about it. I signed up for a 10' x 8' storage unit in March, 2018. I got quoted for a rate, and additionally told it was required to have insurance on the storage unit which was an extra $11. I also had to provide my own lock, as well as buy a circular round lock for the unit itself that was like $25. The total I was paying was $177. I payed that amount for 4 months and then my monthly total increased by $27 which was then $204/month in Sept 2018. 9 months later (Jun 2019) they raised my rent again by $47 bringing my total to $251/month. 1 year later (July 2020) they raised my rent again by $29 bringing my monthly total to $280/month. The rate hikes are pretty atrocious, many times when visiting there haven't been any of the little push carts that make it super convenient to move your stuff which has made things a real pain in the butt to shuffle in/out of storage. The entrance/exit is supposed to be locked and only opened via your code, but pretty much every time I've gone in 2020 both the entrance and exit doors have been wide open. I know that they have had problems with the doors in the past, so I think they just leave it open during business hours all the time now. I haven't had any break-ins, or disturbances of any kind, the location is convenient for me, but now that I just scheduled a move out date, they sent me an email saying "Don't go! We'll reduce your rent by $37.90 to 242.10/month", which is a bit of a slap in the face considering how many times they have decided to spontaneously raise my rent. They don't offer any long term storage rates (at least I was never offered) and since everything is a month-to-month basis, they reserve the right to increase the amount whenever. i didn't think it would be problematic at the time, but now that I'm looking over my payment history, I'm a little upset. This place was sufficient while I needed it, but I'd definitely consider other options in the future if I had a need. read more

Staff is wonderful, place is clean, but the garage door has been broken for months and one of the elevators has been broken for over a year. Access is advertised as 6:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday thru Sunday, but is now, and has been for months, limited to 9:30-6:00 weekdays and 9:30-5:00 weekends (the hours onsite staff is in the building.) Add to that, they will regularly increase your rent 20-30% based on some "on demand" pricing system. When demand drops off, they do not lower your rent. Hmmmmm. Aside from the construction, which was a nightmare the day I arrived, I'll say Pascale is the best thing going for this location. She is so helpful and kind and I appreciate the extra effort she provides to us customers. My unit is decent and it's a clean location. It is hard to move things solo since both entrances are ramped and on inclines. So you have to be very cautious pulling your valuables, essentially on 2 hills. read more

My experience at this storage facility was great. Pascale is amazing! If it wasn't for her, I would have been a bit more upset at how expensive this storage unit was. She was really on top of everything and always so helpful. I was always so surprised at her AMAZING customer service! She was always so happy to see us and eager to assist. We've been renting at this facility for over a year storing the content of our entire home. This past weekend we opened up our unit and had clouds of clothing moths fly out. The MOTHS are in EVERYTHING. We just threw out all of our rugs, worth thousands because the rug cleaner won't take them for fear of infecting every rug in their care. We have clothes with holes, our furniture is now infected, our books, infected, our papers, infected. Everything is ruined. Management knew of the infection on the entire floor and did nothing to inform the people storing their items. Someone brought mothballs so now everything is contaminated with highly carcinogenic poison that will NEVER come out. This is a total loss for my family. NEVER USE THIS FACILITY. read more

After having a storage unit here for over a year I can safely say that I made one of the worst decisions of my life. For the first year of my tenancy here, the building is supposed to be locked and secured after 9pm. But when I would go by on the bus after work at midnight EVERY NIGHT the roll door was open. When I asked about why this was happening, they denied it was. When I presented them with a picture of the roll door open at 1am, they just shrugged and said oops. They raised the rent on me twice with no explanation, just notice. When I asked why the new amount, the response I got was, "Well we let you know." The units are overpriced and the company is garbage. There are so many hidden costs with this place and it's just not worth it. If I could give them zero stars I would. read more

First things first: If you happen to stop by, perhaps to see a unit before renting, or with questions, don't expect the manager to be in the office. If it's wintertime, be prepared to stand outside a locked door for an indefinite amount of time. Secondly, if you proceed with renting a unit from them, I advise that you do your homework because they will lie to you, provide misinformation, and sell you every kind of snake oil that there is. Here's a hint: they require you to secure the unit with a cylinder lock that costs a whopping $21! It's a deliberate scam to keep you from using regular locks. Then, there's the matter of insurance, which they will claim to be mandatory, but is not if you read the paperwork properly. If you've property insurance, chances are, your stuff is covered anyway. Unfortunately, storage in West Seattle costs as much as a kidney, so Public Storage may be the cheapest option. If you go online, you may get a better deal than by calling the customer service or the local office. As far as the unit goes, I got a basic one with four walls and a roof to store inexpensive household items, but in the past I've rented better units from other locations. read more

Great hours! The other storage place closed at 7 PM which made me not be able to access my stuff later at night when people are actually working on stuff at home! The manager was nice and showed me both routes from each elevator access so that I knew where to go. She wrote down my code and made sure I understood everything I needed to have a successful move in. She called me to confirm my online reservation to make sure I didn't have any questions coming in. And she was patient with my lack of experience in that location. Overall, I love the experience I had and feel very secure with my stuff there. Area for unloading into the elevators is enclosed out of the weather which made uncovering my stuff OK while I moved things out of my trailer. Multiple elevators allowed me to unload my stuff while someone else had the other elevator occupied. And this was all on a Saturday! You get the only keys to your unit so you know everything is secure even from staff. Cons: entrance is right next to a bus stop which meant I had to wait for the bus to move before I could pull in. The entry pad is on a hill down into the facility but fortunately my brakes work great. Other than that, I have no complaints!! read more

This is not a warning, it is a prediction: IF YOU CHOOSE TO STORE YOUR BELONGINGS HERE, YOU WILL AT SOME POINT BE ROBBED. I've personally been hit two times in the last month. Each time, the burglar/s hit multiple units and multiple floors. In fact, when I was informed the second time it came out that they've been hit every day for the previous 3 days. After the first time I moved the unit to the top floor and compressed all of my belongings into a smaller space, thinking that the second unit may be a less desirable target. The second unit had a functioning light in front of it (that's right, not all of the lights work and after repeated requests for a fix nothing has changed). Unfortunately, the security of any given unit is laughable, though you probably won't think it's as funny when some lowlife walks away with your stuff. You may as well be storing your belongings on the street. Almost every unit has a metal bar exposed between the frame of the door and the door itself. Using the key on the lock allows a person to slide that bar and open the door as intended. However, it's incredibly easy to simply pry that metal bar out of the door frame, meaning that any money you've spent on a nice lock is 100% meaningless. A burglar can completely bypass it. If you have the misfortune to find yourself inside of this place, take a quick look at some of the door frames where the metal bar enters the frame. You will see that the metal on the frame is curled where a thief has previously pried their way in. Oh, and if it does happen (and it will happen), the management will simply BEND THE FRAME BACK INTO PLACE. That is the fix. That is the entire extent of the fix. This company is not liable for your belongings, and the idea that your stuff is protected is as flimsy as the metal frame that's "guarding" it. To top everything off, this place has a single camera, located in the elevator. If someone walks into that elevator backwards after hours, there is a 0% chance that they will be identified. Then that person can casually pry open as many doors as his or her heart desires and lazily rifle through your things. So basically I've just exposed this building's security flaws. I did so not to encourage theft, but because not doing so would be to perpetuate an illusion that your belongings are even remotely safe in this environment. The burglars know this stuff. You should too. Considering that it's a building explicitly used to store people's things, it follows that a burglar can reasonably expect there to be some loot. You're looking at a situation where a burglar has low risk potential, high reward potential, and is nearly guaranteed to at least find something. Do you still feel safe storing your things here? Would you be willing to PAY to put your things at this kind of risk? read more

If I were to have written this review last month, I would have given 5 stars - but that was before my storage unit was broken into and many of my treasured possessions were stolen. So, to me it no longer matters that the facility is clean, the staff is nice, or anything else good I could have said a couple of weeks ago. Public Storage as a company is EXTORTIONATE. started out at $174/month for a 10x10 space. within 6 months my rent is up nearly 20% to $197. if you sign a contract try and lock in your rate, otherwise they will screw you and hide behind the fine print. or "market rates." aside from that the manager Valerie is very nice and helpful. it's a shame she works for a company that treats people the exact opposite. read more

These guys are such scammers. We had a 5x5 unit for several years. They automatically added insurance, which we did not need or want. We told them to take it off, they didn't. After enough fighting, we finally got rid of it. Note to anyone else, DECLINE THE INSURANCE, ITS NOT REQUIRED. Your homeowners insurance covers you. They will lie to you and say it is required, because they have quotas to upsell you on it. So anyway, after we got rid of it, a while later, they snuck it back on without our permission. We paid for this scam for years. They also do silent rent increases once you're in there. No notice, suddenly your bill is just higher for no reason. They just increased my unit again, even though for a new customer to rent the exact same unit would be less than half of what they eventually jacked ours up to over the years. It would be one thing if they increased with market rate, but they're just randomly grabbing more cash from customers who already have their junk there. Try LifeStorage across the street, they seem to be a much more ethical business. Also, there have been several break-ins at this location. My unit was broken into, even in a "secured" building on the 4th floor. read more

DO NOT RENT STORAGE HERE! Though staff are "nice" onsite, you can count on them only when signing up. The last two times I came to access my unit, there were no carts available to take my 8 heavy boxes up to the third floor. I came back yesterday, a month later, and still no carts. The guy in the office was no help. Finally we found a customer using the one available cart. He had been hoping to run across another cart in the several hours he was there. He let us use the one he was using for a few minutes. It only had three wheels. When I signed up 5 years ago, there were at least 6 carts available for use and there was rarely a wait. If I can't get my items in and out of my storage unit, it is not convenient to have a unit on the third floor. My purpose for having storage in the first place is to store items that I frequently use but which do not fit in my small apartment. Fees! Each year the cost of my unit has gone up at least 10%. I started at $162 for a 10x10 and the cost is now $278 five years later. Be aware of these outrageous price hikes. The place is clean except for the elevator. The floor of the elevator is disgusting. I attempted to access their poor website regarding my concerns but got an error message after I wrote out my concern. I called the number on the website and told the operator my problems as directed on the website. She listened to it all and said she can only help with billing problems. She directed me to call the District Supervisor tomorrow. I called him and he could not give me any specific information about new carts. He said the carts are not a part of the lease agreement and "sorry for the inconvenience." There have been several break-ins on the property, according to news reports but the District Supervisor would not tell me if my unit was in the area of break-ins. LOTS of problems with no effective customer service to address them. I am a VERY frustrated customer. read more

Justin who took care of our check-in was awesome! I was able to reserve online & Justin gave me a courtesy call just to double-check that I was coming so he could reserve it. He was very professional, quick but thorough regarding the storage unit costs, insurance, check in/out times, etc. Location was so ideal and convenient for us since we lived right on Alki. I also liked that driving a big rig in and out of this particular public storage area was quick and easy. There's plenty of parking to park and unload and small carts are always available to unload your stuff onto. Safety-wise, even with the elevators you need a multi-digit security code to get through which gives me peace of mind! read more

STOP!! DO NOT RENT HERE!! I had a unit for only 2 weeks that was robbed/broken into and now my entire life is a loss. I lost everything and their insurance refuses to cover my losses because the locks were not busted even though I do have proof and photos of forced entry and busted door mechanisms. Looks like someone ripped the door open, picked the locks, or just took the door completely off. I even had my own lock. When I told the manager she acted like it was no big deal and offered no help in reviewing the tapes to see who walked out with my life. The second I told her there had been a robbery, she said "Oh really, You should probably call the police". After that she shut completely down and said not another word and gave me this blank stare and even made the police and I wait for her to finish up with other customers. Crazy I know!! I am currently working with the police to get to the bottom of this and have to go get a court order just to review the cameras. I literally lost everything of value and am getting bogus run around from Public Storage and their insurance. This "WILLIS Insurance" they make you get, offers absolutely nothing in the form of help. The first call from the insurance representative resulted in a message stating that my claim has been denied WITHOUT EVEN SPEAKING WITH ME because they say they called the manager and she said there was no forced entry and they wouldn't cover any of my losses. That is a pile of BS!! If this was just a one-off scenario of some drug addicted thief I would stop right here and take it for what is was, BUT it turns out almost my exact situation has happened to hundreds of people nationwide and hundreds of Public Storage locations. A San Jose, CA news station even did an expose on Public Storage and uncovered crazy amounts of information regarding almost identical robberies and company wide conspiracies. From all the claims, news stories, and police reports, this really looks like some sort of company wide scam that is being inflicted on people all over the country. I am not alone. If your thinking of renting here, think twice. And if something similar has happened to you, contact me. The more information and claims we put together, the bigger the case can be against them. It is absolutely insane the amount of information and identical claims that have happened to people who rented from Public Storage all over our country!! I just wish I would have searched this deep before renting from these crooks. I working with Investigators, news stations, and attorneys to expose and get to the bottom of this racket. My worst fear is that this life ruining event will continue to happen to more people each day with no attempt of even a partial remedy. They stole everything from my dress shoes all the way up to my electronics and personal documents. THINK TWICE BEFORE U RENT HERE! One of the best public storage location's I've rented from yet, to say the least. Very convenient location, and underground parking garage(Shade on those HOT days like today) with a loading dock with easy access to an air conditioned elevator. Nice Hand truck carts for moving, and clean units. Elevator has security code for access, plus they use the most secure lock system to date, instead of the ordinary pad lock. Staff was awesome, and very helpful. Justin the property manager was super friendly and walked me through the property, unit etc before hand. Excellent orientation, plus very detailed on all information needed to know. Paperwork was very thoroughly explained by Justin the property manager and Felix the front desk employee, with easy understanding. I didn't leave questioned or unsure of any process etc. Unit cost is actually decent for the location and how close it is to my residence, especially for tight security! I value my belongings, and feel that my property is in good hands for the duration of the stay. If looking for dependable and secure storage in the West Seattle area I highly recommend renting from this location! read more

I've rented a unit here since October. Upon moving in the hallway lights were out and I was told they would be fixed soon. I complained at least six times when I would go to my unit, nothing happened. Then my unit got broken into in late July, I complained again. My unit just got broken into again (now three weeks later). Also, I switched units and floors after the first break in. They stole items the first time and only one item the second time. But they were all expensive items for camping/backpacking. When speaking with the district manager he said it was probably someone who rented on the floor the first time since about 8 units got broken into and they have to have a code to get to the floor... This week only they've had two separate break ins and it involved three floors. Don't store your stuff here. It will get broken into and management doesn't care because that's what insurance is for... Don't rent a unit here!!!! read more
