I originally reserved a unit for $86.00. After I showed up "late" after my reservation expired they jacked the price up on the same unit to $138.50. After 3 months they increased that price to $189.50 because the $138.50 was some sort of introductory price. After contacting them they said "prices are subject to change", but they refused to tell me when future increases would take place and were unable to resend a link to my lease agreement so I could review it. No notice of increase at all, just another $50 tacked onto the "Thanks for your payment" email. This place is a big scam and they treat their customers like cash pinatas. read more

This is definitely the worst place I have ever rented a storage at. I don't know what happened to customer service these days but if you want any from this business you won't get anything here. The employees are rude and unhelpful. They are never in the the office and they smell horrible. The prices are high and they charge you three days before the first of the month but when you rent it they say it's due on the 1st. So when you pay on the first it's already late and they can charge a fee. Then if you get injured or sick and God forbid go to the hospital they will lock you out and charge you even more late fees. I was told I should have got someone to come and pay it for me. Well not everyone has that luxury. Now the fees are so high that I can not afford to pay them and they won't let me just move out. The whole reason I couldn't do anything is because I had covid and was in the hospital. They told me that I cannot move out. That they would continue to charge more money and that no one can go into it until they try to auction my unit. Then they would send me to collection ruin my credit. Their words not mine! I have NEVER been treated so rudely. This company needs to train their employees in customer service and human compassion. I would never recommend using this place. I also saw that they leave their gate door open so just anyone could walk right in and steal. There is a public storage right down the street. I would recommend going there instead. I also had a unit there and never had any issues. Please don't rent from extra space storage. I have never had a worse experience. read more

The facility is extremely well maintained by the onsite staff, who are clearly experienced (shout out to Misty...) and will do what they can to be as helpful as possible. The location off Aurora is convenient, as is the security, loading/parking area, well functioning abundant carts, clean bathroom and just about anything else you might need, in order to make any move less difficult. When we started using this facility 2 year ago, they were amazing, especially the staff. Some aspects still are - it's a clean and well secured facility with carts available and elevators always in working order. However, as of the past few months, they have gone crazy with rate increases. We have had 2 units with them at this point. Our first started out around $90 a month and we were fine when it went up to $108. But then, all at once (not incrementally) they tried to raise it to $188, more than double our initial agreement. We got rid of that space. Our second unit we lease at $150. Just one month into renting, they sent us rate change notice increasing to $227 a month!! With no warning. I get modest rate adjustments, but when rates increase at this magnitude on short notice, that is just wrong. How are we supposed to budget? If you are trying to store your belongings somewhere and have a consistent month-to-month budget, don't go here! I'm not sure if the management changed, but rate changes of this magnitude should be illegal. Especially when it's obviously a hostage market, since it is no easy lift to change to a new storage facility. Sadly, that's exactly what we'll probably need to do, because this level of rate change is unsustainable and frankly immoral to blind-side customers and take advantage of folks' inability to quickly switch to a different storage provider. I don't make reviews often, but felt I would have wanted to have this warning if I when I was shopping around for units. Had I known this would happen, I would have stayed away entirely! Just a shame, this was never an issue the first year and a half we we had a lease with them. What gives Extra Space Storage?? read more

Have been with Extra Space for years and they are the best in regard to security/safety and customer service. Very clean & temperature control housing is a plus for items that can't get too cold and/or hot. The load & unload zone is easy and carts available right inside entry. i redact my previous review alittle over a year ago. misty and mark are extremely dishonest and rude. they're quick to lock you out of your unit if it's past the due date, understandably. however they're quicker to assess huge miscellaneous fees, without notice. my unit has been broken into twice and even my things stolen. their excuse is that i put the lock back on improperly when since my first rental of the unit the door has never closed properly. when i asked mark why was one of my suitcases with its own personal lock was completely cut off mark didn't provide an explanation. once they charged me $344.60 when my monthly payments were $73.70 (with the $20.00 late fee. that's all i expected. yet, they accrued huge extra fees to try and justify this "new fee due". that was a couple months ago. today is september 29th, and i spoke to misty and mark's supervisor to change my payment date to the 29th each month, so i wouldn't have to pay the additional $20.00 each month. the supervisor assured me, that all i will be billed today is only the $93.70 and nothing more, to include my payment on october 29th. yet, misty has added for (additional) "insurance fee", along with additional money for changing the due daye, stating "ive been here for many years and this is how it works". i pon to differ and infact will report all of this to this facility's supervisor and the better business board (bbb) where i'll be filing a complaint!!! read more

Beware of Extra Space Storage! Their business model is to get you in for a reasonable price and raise the price significantly over the course of a year. In one year the storage rate has increased from $89 a month to $150 per month - an increase of 174%. Storage business bait and increase. So, so storage facility. They buy storage facilities and do a little fix-up and let it go from there. Insulation falling from the ceiling, cutting staff to lower labor resulting in poor customer service. Complain about extortionate price increases and they could care less. Best to avoid the hassle. Go somewhere else. read more

I have specifically used their services at the Puyallup, Washington location. They are clean, well maintained, and the local manager is helpful. However, anyone needing storage, who looks into these guys, will notice a recurring complaint: once they get you as a customer, they proceed to hammer you with ongoing rate increases. These increases are unannounced, and not on any particular schedule, and some of them are pretty startling. When I called about them I was told they were due to "management" reassessing land values in a climate of property value increases (or words to that effect). When I asked if that meant costs would be decreased if property values went down, I was met with silence. To give an example of what can happen to you: 1. My initial rate for a 10x10 unit, in July 2020: $143.50/month 2. Increased to $163.20 May of 2021 3. Increased to $244,50 Feb of 2022 4. Increased to $312.50 Dec 2022 So...in two years, more than doubled...which bears no resemblance to local land evaluations or any other inflationary tales. Meanwhile: during all this time, their website still advertises 10x10 units for $150 to $170 per month. I was told that price was the "new customer rate". In short...they fish you in with a low rate, and then hammer you with an ongoing set of price gouging steps. Feels like a big "bait and switch" operation to me. I'm stuck with these guys because I happen to be overseas at this time, but the first task upon any return to the US will be to get as far away from them as I can get. read more

We met with Cindy today who was assisting from a different location and she was absolutely fabulous! We also had the opportunity to meet the manager of the Lynnwood location who was so kind. They were both very easy to work with, explained everything thuroughly and were extremely efficient. The lobby and storage facility is well kept, very clean and easy to navigate through the storage area. They have very good security. The unloading zone has oversized parking spots to accommodate trucks and/or trailers. Cindy knew that I was in a hurry because I had to get back to work and she went above and beyond to accommodate my timeline. I wish I could give you more than 5 stars. Thank you! read more

We recently rented a storage unit at this facility and and so far we are thrilled. After after having a unit at another company for a number of years the service, the pricing, the security and the unit itself are so much better than our last one! The other company is so "corporate" compared with this one! We have a retail store and a TV station is filming a short segment about us. We have had to move in and out of several storage units in the past several years and they wanted to film me opening up a box to see what was in it. I can't believe the red tape we were having to go through with the other company and these people were just delightful to work with. We got it done in no time and just "bailed" on the other one. Vince and Misty were extremely helpful from start to finish! Very responsive and great experience. Signing up, getting the code, and accessing the building were extremely easy. They have late hours for building access, so it was nice to be able to still have time to move stuff in or out after work! I had moved out the day before renewal, but it still charged me. They sorted everything out within a day and refunded me! Place is extremely clean and pricing is good. They have newer units as well as older ones, so you have choices for pricing at this location. We rented a unit for two months. Incredibly quick and easy to gain access to our unit. Facility is very clean and secure, has carts available free of charge to use to bring items to/from your storage unit. Parking is convenient for unloading/loading. Staff was very professional and friendly it was very easy to cancel when we moved our stuff out. We will use them again if we ever need a storage unit. We have had a storage space with Extra Space on 130th in Seattle for 3 years now. It is a convenient location for us and is always clean and well maintained. We recently needed to get a larger unit and Misty was very helpful in finding ways in which we could actually save money. This place is great, the staff are all super helpful and pleasant, the prices are the best I found anywhere in the Seattle metro area (by a LOT), the grounds and building are clean and well maintained, they have a bunch of unit sizes to choose from, the building is secure (both the main entrance and the elevator require your unique code to access), there was never an issue finding a spot to park to load/unload (even though they don't have a ton of spaces), you can access your unit every day, including holidays (only between 6am and 10pm, though), they have plenty of locks and supplies to choose from, they offer autopay monthly billing, renting the unit was quick and easy, cancelling was actually sad, but also quick and easy. Very happy with Extra Space Storage, it is one of the best experiences we've had since we moved here. read more

I would rather give them 2.5 stars but that isn't an option. Overall they are pretty nice and the facility is clean. Rents are a bit high in my opinion. The thing I'm most unhappy about is that the refuse to refund any excess rent when you move out. If you've paid on the first and move out on the second, you lose all of that money. I had to units here and ended up losing $150 that last month in rent I'd paid but couldn't get back. They say this is a company policy and they told me when I moved in, which may be true but I don't remember that. I'm especially annoyed when I read other reviewers who say they did get refunded. If I have to store things again, which I will strenously avoid, I doubt I will use this company or facility again. If you do use them, just be sure to time your departure better than I did, namely leave right before your next rent payment is due. read more

RATS RATS RATS RATS RATS RATS!!!! I pay $423 per month for storage for my business files, equipment and furniture. Just came from visiting my unit in Valrico, Florida, and found rat urine and feces everywhere and my furniture and files are ruined! I asked onsite manager what they were going to do about it and he basically said "nothing." He "sprayed and taped" the ceiling. I am at the end of my 18 month "stay" at Extra Space. We finally found another house - yay! I really cannot recommend Extra Space enough. Yes, there are some silly corporate policies but if you read your agreement you'll know what to do and not do regarding rent. The managers were wonderful to us. They pro-rated our final month's rent so we only had to pay for the three days we used. They told us how to avoid having to pay for the whole month (by not pre-paying w/ auto-pay). We always felt the managers were on our side, we never had any problems, and we appreciate how clean, secure and convenient the facility is. Thanks! read more
