I don't recommend public storage. I started at $75 for a 5x5 and I've been a long time customer. My rent is now $154 in the span of about 3-4 years. I asked for a reduction, but they refused. They said they have other people who are willing to rent. If I could, I'd already leave but I'm tied up and can't move at this time. Try and save your money by finding some smaller business that have better prices. At least, it might be more affordable and you're supporting small businesses. read more

Reliable? Yes, I can rely on the fact that these crooks are going to continually raise my storage rates. They don't seem to care about the customer only your timely payment. There's not even a trash can on the property and if you need to use the restroom plan it as one would a day trip and bring a lunch. Just got hammered with another huge rate increase, just another greedy, opportunistic company gouging their clients during the pandemic but what costs have they had to endure? We rented a storage unit from the Public Storage on Red Hill ave in Irvine. I moved out of the until on Feb 1, 2020. I called 3 days prior to inform them and was told that I would be charged the full month's rent if I moved out on Feb 1. I spoke with Tammy initially and when I questioned the fact that they would not prorate the rent she said she would need to ask her supervisor. As she put me on hold the call dropped. I called back and Jose answered and told me that they would charge me the full rent and that it was policy to not prorate - even when someone is out of the unit. I informed him that I did not think this was right or, in fact, legal and requested to speak with his manager. He at first refused and then when I pushed said he would give me the number so I could call her. I let him know I was driving and asked him to transfer me or have her call me - he refused at first but eventually relented and said that he would have her call me. I had not received a call back by midday the following day (Thursday) so I called the 800 number and requested to speak with a manager there. The rep informed me I would need to speak with the regional manager for that location and gave me the number to the RM (Jeneate I believe it was). I called and left her a message. That evening I called again and left a second message - I still did not receive a call back. I still had not received a call by Friday morning so I called again but did not leave a message this time. I attempted to get my stuff out Friday night but given that I was moving on Saturday into my new apartment I had to go through extra hoops to get the truck and did not have the help needed and so I was not able to empty it in time. I came back the next day, Feb 1, and had everything removed by 10:15 a.m. The manager at the location told me that she would email the DM to have her call me back. I still have not received a call from her or anyone else with Public Storage though they are attempting to have me pay $79.00 for the month of Feb. at this point. I find it absurd that they are attempting to charge me a full months rent for half a days occupancy. I am willing to pay a pro-rated charge for the day I was in the unit, but do not believe that the full month should be paid. I am also amazed at the complete lack of customer service that would result in the failure of a manager and then a district manager to return a phone call for over a week. I gave them 3 days after my last request to have the DM call me back before leaving this review because I wanted to resolve this, however, at this point it is clear to me that they simply do not care. I highly recommend staying away from Public Storage and have also filed a BBB complaint. read more

I just moved to a 5x5 unit with the promotion of $42/month. I left a different storage facility due to increasing property rent, and this place was very accommodating. I called them the day before to secure it, and was able to get it the next day. Raul was professional and quick with the check-in as I told him I was under a time crunch. He was very upfront with information regarding the space and walked me to the unit to see if I liked it. *Warning: all Public Storage facilities will raise your rent as time goes on and they cannot/will not fix it. Here's my experience at this facility: -Cars parked in loading dock but don't move anything; appears as though they either live in their vehicles or the storage unit -Police with guns drawn investigating these vehicles, detaining people, and also finding people hiding out in storage units -Urine, food, and trash by elevator, doors, and stairwell furthering my suspicion that there are people living in units -Motor vehicles in units (gas) -Random key found in my unit as if someone entered -Never any carts to move things and you may have a long walk given the size of the facility -Elevator frequently broken and takes weeks/months to fix; be careful if you get an upstairs unit because you'll be carrying stuff up the urine filled stairway while fighting the door to stay open Despite the conditions above, you will be rewarded with 33% rate increases. read more

I just had my rent increased from $83mo to $103mo--and I've only been there for 5mo's!! WTF?!! I had read the Yelp reviews before taking the unit, and even brought all the reviews about rate increases to the attention of the sales guy helping me. He said it rarely happens. And I believed him! Nobody likes moving their stuff. So, I guess they figure, once you're in, they got you! This is a form of extortion. You know, like, "pay up, or move out!". It's a nice, clean, location. Sub par service from unhappy staff is hard to overlook at this location. Also, I find any review on here stating this location is clean highly suspect... have you actually looked at the facility? I don't just mean glance down the main hallways. Look at your unit along the walls, look at any corner in thia place, go look at the bathrooms (if they are open that is. Management seems to enjoy having the ability to lock the bathrooms quite frequently during operating hours. Why? No one is sure. When asked the staff won't directly address the question and the statement on the closed bathroom door states "See management if you have a question"). The fraternity house in the movie animal House is immaculate compared to this establishment. Do you enjoy having multiple holes and questionable stains on your storage unit walls? If so you're in luck because this place has plenty. Lastly, the staff on site have such a low morale that they almost go out of their way to try and make others share their misery. Out of respect I won't go into detail. It's really a shame because this location could be nice and has potential...if only it wasn't being run into the ground by the current overseers. There are no carts available, not enough staff, I have been waiting for 1/2 hour for the office to open as there is no staff to attend the customer's needs. This place is definitely not for long term use. They advertise with special price and raise the price after rental of a month to few months. And staff wasn't helping at all specially the lady with a glasses i didn't get her name but i think she was the manager. When i start questioning about pricing and moving in she wasn't too happy about it, never smiling and never even said hi or thank you. She was loud like she owns the place and making it all look like i'm annoyed. Other staff was just looking at her and didn't say a word about it. I couldn't even find 1% of friendly from her. I was too embarrassed that i decided to do things by the phone. She definitely should not be working at any customer services. I've introduced this place to friends too in the past and they all moved out because of the price change after signing up and now it's my turn to move out. I won't be going back to this place for any reasons but if you don't mind paying extra $50-$100 after signing up and don't mind about staffs attitude then this place is for you. read more

My husband and I rented a large storage unit from this public storage for 5 months. The whole entire process was easy and the front office staff was great (shout out to the manager, Shawn!). We originally moved out of our house and needed a large storage unit to store most of our furniture and belongings. The unit itself was great--very clean, easy to check into. My husband and I were nervous about storing our stuff just based on some of the reviews but I do feel the security here is great. Our unit was on the second floor, so really our security code needed to be entered twice to access it (the main lobby and the elevator). All around the building and in the lobbies there are cameras, which the front office staff are watching throughout the day. And, after hours, the building automatically shuts off the acceptance of your security code, so this means that random people won't really be coming in and out at the middle of the night. Renting a cart was a breeze as long as you checked in with the front office and exchanged your ID. Over the course of these 5 months, my husband and I both would sporadically go over to the unit to either deposit items or just check on our items and every time it seemed completely untouched. My husband and I are moving out of state, so we needed to rent a shipping container to move our belongings into to send over. When trying to plan the logistics of the shipment container, the company we rented from said that most storage units don't allow the containers to be kept on-premises and that we would need to work out a plan with the facility. When we talked to Shawn he was amazing. He explained this facility's policy very clearly and he worked with us to make sure the container was conveniently placed (for us) but also did not interfere with other patrons of the facility. Anytime we called the facility we almost always talked to Shawn and he was always so kind, respectful, and clear with any questions or concerned we had. I'm sure we asked him the same question 6 times and every time he was always patient with us. The whole time we had our facility here the price of our unit did not change, however, I do know we were notified at the 6 mo mark that the price would increase. Overall we were really happy with this facility and if we ever needed to use it again would highly recommend it! read more
