I had no idea that the rent just goes up randomly here. I just got off the phone with the manager. He said that the rate always goes up a few times a year. I supposedly received notice in the mail. 50% in one month. I was told it will be even worse over the summer. The only reason I gave it a 2 star instead of 1 is because the site manager kindly explained this to me. read more

My 5x10 rate increased from $73 for the first 6 months to $116 and then at the 1-year mark they up my rate to $157. I moved out to another storage facility near by, NOT Public Storage, before the last increase. I was told you have to move to another unit within Public Storage to keep the lower rate. (Play Musical Chairs) I understand it's an introductory rate when you first move in but to have your rate go up 100% after 1 year is unacceptable. Be warned that your rate will increase after 6 months and again at 1 year. read more

Good storage facility. Booking online and moving out online was a nice feature. The mobile app access was nice too. Moved in end of July 24' and decided to move out Jane 25' after a notice of renting going up. Good place though! read more

Little or no cart available and only one elevator working... online rebtal was easy and there is little space if multiple vehicles are loading/unloading at once. read more

Short-term only! They will jack up your rate! The facility is clean, hallways are wide, carts are large, parking lot is mediocre sized. HOWEVER, they WILL raise your rates after 6 months (and again after 12 months I presume), regardless of what the market rate is! I was paying $202 for a space when I rented it, and 6 months later the market rent (the rent for a new unit on their website) was $147. They notified me that my rent was going UP to $225/month, so I submitted a request for them to LOWER my rate to the market rate. They denied it. I called the location and corporate and got rigamarole bullssss about how my rate was "fair". So I moved out. End of story. read more

My rent for a small closet size for $70 just went up to $508/month Public storage is the biggest rip off Their elevators don't work and you can never get ahold of a live person without waiting for over 1/2 hour and forget in line their robots can't understand the question as simple as it gets I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORAGE FACILITY!!!! read more

Great experience!! Needed immediate storage space, called the number on the door, a LIVE PERSON answered AND worked to meet my storage need. Highly recommended!! read more

About 6 months ago Public Storage took over the storage facility on Draper Drive in Fairfax at which we had been customers for about 18 months. We've just received notice that Public Storage is raising our monthly rate by more than 27%. They have provided no explanation or justification. I've tried to get in touch with a Public Storage Customer Service Rep by internal message and by phone. After several attempts a service rep finally called me. Even then, the call is suspect, because Caller ID showed the caller to be from Chase Bank. Go figure. Anyway, the reason the service rep gave for the price increase is that Public Storage has ascertained that the market rate for a storage unit of our size has risen 27% in the past 6 months. Yeah....right.....The real model is that they charge as much as possible before they start losing customers to competitors. We also had to register for auto-pay because we've been unable to make a payment in person the last several months. Why? Because every time we've gone to the office -- during business hours -- the office is locked and we can't locate an on-site service rep to take our payment. The only thing that Public Storage cares about is taking your money. Customer Service? HAH! What a joke! Take your storage business anyplace other than Public Storage. read more

Easy, reliable, and very responsive reservation process of the unit; and it's conveniently located in Fairfax. We are off to a great start!

Raised my rate (including insurance) by 50+% in less than 1.5 years. Avoid at all costs. You will regret being their customer. Go elsewhere.

My wife and I needed a transition storage place while we downsized from a house to a condo. Public Storage on Waples Mill was good value for money with an online reservation and first month for a dollar, and located near our new condo. Ram, the manger, was very helpful and professional. I only gave it 4 stars because A) the moving materials are not good value for money (small box price (bulk price) is over double Uhaul small box price (bulk price) and B) the roller door in our 10'x10' space does not stay open--it creeps down to half open unless you stand there and spend a minute holding it and letting it lower until it stops at a reasonable height. Otherwise, a pretty good experience. read more

I had an 11:00 appointment. My GPS told me to turn the wrong way so I could not find the facility. When I called the person could not give me directions and just kept telling me to follow my GPS. She couldn't even pronounce the street correctly. When I finally arrived I was 20 minutes late because of her bad directions. There were other people in front of me, so I was told I had to go out and wait in my car so that she could show these other people around. I wasn't even allowed to wait inside! This place needs to do a better job of staffing. One person, especially one that can't even help with directions, is completely insufficient. read more

Was late on payment due to selling our house buy a couple of weeks and they cut off my lock and inventoried our possessions. Unbelievable! Will remove my property and warn everyone they do not respect personal property. Negative 5 stars! But would not let me post without a star read more

Facilities are good but within two months of signing up (and once my stuff was moved in) I was hit with a 20% rent increase. What a stinking rip off. read more

I really dislike PS and have had many problems with them. The one in Annandale, I ended up never putting my belongings in it because of the rat problem. My daughter and I shared one in an industrial park in Alexandria and it was fair. They just bought my beautiful, clean, new facility on Pickett Rd in Fairfax and I didn't realize it. I could tell that the manager was not as nice as ones in the past but I thought it was turnover related. They sent out a generic email without a subject, so I didn't read it. I am not with then anymore. It did not say they had bought my facility in the subject. Suddenly, I am behind on my payments (it had been automatically put on a card), I have to fill out all new paperwork that was basically uneditable (I needed to put some more info on it) so I called them. I have been on hold for 40 min. so far. I just signed the darn form without the changes. It took me forever going back and forth to cancel the insurance, not looking forward to being there, but I don't want to have to haul the stuff out of there. It is a real disappointment. read more

Chris was very courteous and helpful. When I arrived with my moving truck from out of state, he was able to accommodate my request for a larger unit at the online rate no less! The property was clean throughout. The gate is still broken (someone posted about this in February), but I was told it would be replaced within a couple weeks. Hopefully that is true. read more

We just emptied the storage space we've been renting for several years. I have NEVER been late with a payment. I am very, very disappointed to say that I cannot recommend this business. Despite my spotless payment record, they charged me for the ENTIRE month of September because we did not empty our space by August 31. They REFUSED to give me a prorated refund. I would NEVER rent from this establishment again. I can, however, HIGHLY recommend The Lock Up Storage instead, if you have one in your areas. read more

Christian was great! He went above and beyond for me definitely made my experience 10 times easier than I thought it'd be.

Ruth was very pleasant and very helpful in assisting me with a rental of a unit. Thanks Ruth!

Impeccably clean and well-maintained, the storage facility has been a joy to utilize. Christian and his crew have shown the utmost customer service and the location is perfect for our needs. We highly recommend this particular public storage which gives you the best feeling of safety and security for your belongings. read more

Dirty. Strange management top to bottom. I would never trust a place that apparently writes its own (fake) reviews in abundance. All one has to do is visit this facility & see the poor maintenance of hallways, elevators, bathrooms and make a decision if you want to put your possessions in such a place. Lazy, incredibly lazy and nonchalant staff. We moved out after two months. Hallways are NEVER swept. NEVER. EVER. read more

This facility used to be owned by Stor-all and several years ago a friend of mine rented a unit for their overflow holiday decorations and family heirlooms. I'd visited the location a few times to help her out with moving this and that and found it to be clean and one of the best storage places I'd seen. I've seen many over the years, living as a military brat most of my life. HOWEVER, this is now under the business of Public Storage, and since its been rebranded the prices of units has gone up dramatically. I considered renting a unit temporarily and visited with my friend recently. We arrived to find that the security gate was not only inoperable but completely removed (talk about shady mcshaderson), the inside of the building was filthy, and the restrooms which were such an added bonus before are now locked and unusable -- not too great when you're working for awhile to clear out and need to go! My friend has visited several times over the past month to go through items and has noticed that the leaves which blew in last fall are still all over the lobby floor and now into the elevators. It seems that no staff members are checking the facilities...or if they are they don't care to sweep up the dirt. These seem like trivial matters, but compared to the pristine safe place it used to be, it now feels kind of like a dump! With some care this place could be better, but for now I'd say....look elsewhere. read more
