    Total rip out

We had a water accident that caused us to have a good amount of our house needing repair. Fortunately we were introduced to Chad Puls from ProTech who was recommended by our State Farm Insurance Company. From the beginning, Chad was outstanding in reassuring us that all would be well. The expert craftsmen sent to help facilitate the repairs were outstanding and Chad made sure all was done in as timely and efficiently a manner possible. Chad and his great crew saw us through the demolition and total kitchen and floor redo with kindness as well as professionalism. We would highly recommend Pro Tech to anyone in need of excellent guidance and outstanding professional workmanship. The damage to our house ended with a beautiful new kitchen, new floors and very happy customers! Thanks to all the great people who helped Pro Tech make this a positive outcome! Thank you Kevin from State Farm as well. Joanne and Michael Shimpock

I cannot begin to say enough good things about this company! I had to have a full kitchen and bathroom remodel. My shower pan failed and flooded my kitchen from upstairs. I had just bought the home and the previous owner hid a lot of water damage!!! Protech came in and put all my fears to rest! The team was professional and cared about every step of restoration like it was their own home. I was involved in all the decisions and if I had any concerns they were immediately addressed. The back office handled everything with my insurance adjuster so I didn't even have to deal with that added stress! Plus they found ways to save me money and I even had credit from everything once it was all done. I'm so thankful for this company of professionals because I'm loving my new kitchen and bathroom!!!

Protech wanted to replace these pieces of wood by just gluing them back in place until engineer taught them proper way

What a nightmare it has been for me to deal with this contractor. They are incompetent, unprofessional, unethical and sleezy. It is no wonder they are pending disciplinary action by the contractor board and have received multiple offenses by the board in the last few years for very bad worksmanship. Just look up their license number before you hire them and read all the offenses they have received. My insurance Liberty Mutual referred me to them. I understand why now. Who better to save the insurance carrier money than the master of all shortcuts, owner Vince and his company Protech construction. My project got so many citations and stop work orders from the City of Redondo Beach. I put some sample photos of the sloppy work they do in the review. Their deputy inspector wasn't properly credentialed and the City of Redondo Beach rejected their report. They busted a water line while working and I have a video of water going all over my front yard at full speed. Vince kept yelling that it's my water lines fault but I just watched with my own eyes that all their workers were stepping so carelessly all over my sprinkler system. In order to save money and not hire a licensed plumber, he also tried to have an stucco subcontractor work on my water heater during construction and damaged my $1000 Rheem water heater in the process and then blamed the manufacturer and asked me to have them fix it when it was a relatively new water heater that was working perfectly fine until their subcontractor without a plumbing license tried to work on it. And in the beginning of the project, Protech demolished all my stucco on my exterior walls and didn't put any barrier to protect my home or belongings. Imagine I had to argue with him to put wood panels to protect my home now that it had no walls so racoons, skunks, insects and even intruders wouldn't just get right in!!! It was utterly shocking. In order to save money on paying for wood panels, he wanted to expose my home to the elements, insects, rodents, and intruders. Vince and Protech also wanted to dump all the demolition debris right on my front lawn and green grass. I had to plead with my project manager that construction debris doesn't belong on my front yard where it will damage all my landscaping and after so much begging, Protech finally brought a dumpster for all the debris. My engineer had to teach Protech so many basic things like properly replacing wood subfloor so people do not fall through while walking over it. My engineer was shocked that they did not know how to accomplish this very basic task. They made so many unnecessary cuts in my subfloor because they were simply too lazy to do the work under the house (see photos). Their sloppy work caused so much collateral damage to the interior and exterior of my home which still makes me cry so much. The most basic common sense things they don't know how to do. It was absolutely exhausting dealing with all the shortcuts, and an absolutely horrifying experience overall. Too bad I cant upload videos here but I also have videos of the owner Vince screaming profanities at myself, and the city inspector because he was frustrated that he could not use all his usual short cuts to rip off homeowners. He even had the nerve to tell me one time why I am watching his workers. Well I did not want to end up like the woman on the pullingthreadz blog who ended up with an uninhabitable home after what he and Liberty Mutual did to it. I am an elderly woman and I still am so traumatized by how Vince verbally abused me with his very short temper and how Protech physically abused my home with their incompetence. Do not trust Protech with your precious home. It wont ever be the same.

Throughout the process, I was repeatedly told different things regarding pricing, insurance, and third-party contractors. After my insurance claim was denied, the pricing discussions changed significantly from what I had been led to expect during the project. The biggest frustration was the lack of transparency surrounding a separate abatement contractor. Their invoice did not surface until after we were already disputing the mitigation bill, and it took numerous conversations to understand who was responsible for what. At various points, we were told the issue would be "taken care of," only to later learn that the contractor was independently owned and billing us directly. The amount of time, effort, and stress required to get clear answers was far beyond what a homeowner should reasonably expect. My advice to anyone considering their services: do not let them pressure you into signing anything, make sure you fully understand every contractor involved, obtain all pricing and responsibilities in writing upfront, and don't rely on verbal assurances when it comes to billing or settlement terms. Get EVERYTHING in writing.

So, this is what to look out for, and the receipts to prove it: 1. TWIST FACTS/CHANGE NARRATIVE: - 6/1 "At no point did our team request that you provide materials..." - 5/21 "Please feel free to forward over the hygienist report and any other information necessary to help generate the remediation estimate." (They did indeed ask for materials but are now saying they didn't.) ___ 2. DEFLECT/IGNORE THE ISSUE RAISED -Dana "I've sent 3 emails to your 1 email..." -Janny "...if you are unwilling to provide results..." -Dana "I'm not unwilling. You just never asked. Why did it take this long to tell me that?" (My issue is their lack of communication, but she deflects to a story about me refusing asbestos testing, when in fact that conversation never happened.) ___ 3. CONTRADICT THEMSELVES --Janny: "You expressed to us on May 22nd that you did not want to proceed with testing" --Then her review says "Following the intial appointment [May 22nd] our office...left you a VM. Unfortunately we were unable to connect" (Here she says we talked, but her review contradicts her own statement) ___ 5. MISINFORMED, ARGUMENTATIVE, AND ACCUSATORY LANGUAGE --Misinformed/Accusatory: "You expressed to us that you didn't want to proceed with testing your property" --Accusatory/Argumentative: "If you are unwilling to provide results...we cannot proceed to assist any further" (Janny's tone is starkly different from most vendors'. They'd likely pose as a question--"Are you willing to" "I believe you expressed", --not an accusation.) Because of this, I'm changing my 2-star review to 1 star. But to be fair, this is just my experience. They do have great reviews, so you may have a better experience (if you decide to use them). Below is the original rating before this update: ____________________________________________________________ 6/3/2026 This is the email that I sent to Restoration1: "Hi Janny, I've sent 3 emails to your 1 email. And your 1 email was asking for materials I already provided. I was so impressed with your estimator's expertise and willingness to answer all of my questions that I likely wanted to use Restoration1, but the lack of communication is very frustrating. It worries me that this is an indicator to what it's likely working with Restoration1. The estimator came out May 21st. It's June 1st. Can you tell me what's going on with my estimate?" Their utter lack of follow-through was incredibly frustrating because I was super impressed with the estimator's professionalism, friendliness, and expertise. 1. The estimator came out May 27. 2. After a week I reached out. 2. Janny responded by asking for docs I already sent 3. I gave it to her again. 4. Then crickets... 6. I emailed a 3rd time for updates. No response. 7. I emailed again + messaged on Yelp 8. They finally responded saying I had refused asbestos testing, which they require. 9. I said I never refused because nobody informed me until 3 weeks in. So they asked for docs already provided (why ask for docs if asbestos was an issue?), did nothing for 3 weeks, said I refused asbestos testing, which wasn't true, and that I would've agreed to do the testing had I been informed, Janny's response was judgmental and rude. And the overall communication--or lack thereof--I received from Janny was misinformed, argumentative, accusatory, and rude. Had they told me about the asbestos testing requirement I would have complied. But, if my experience thus far was any indication of how it would be working with them, I decided to pass. I think I saved myself a lot of headache. Buyer beware.
