I cannot recommend Lori and Bartwood enough!! I first encountered Lori a couple years ago after we found mold in our house and needed to get our belongings cleaned. It was clear from the beginning both how knowledgeable and professional she was. She did an incredible job and our stuff came back good as new. She was also very conscious of how much I was spending, not wanting us to waste our money. I referred her to my mom as well after they found a mold problem in their home. My mom ultimately went with someone closer as she would've had to ship all her stuff down, but she said afterwards how much she regretted not working with Lori. Her experience was very different than mine - she felt taken advantage of in a desperate time and believed she was charged significantly more than she would have been had she worked with Lori. She also said it was clear the other companies she spoke with weren't as knowledgeable or professional as Lori and Bartwood were. Recently we had a small fire in our home. The smoke damage was significant so I knew I needed to call Lori. In my panic I sent her a text on Sunday morning while the fire department was still at our house. Not only did she respond right away but she insisted on FaceTiming me to see the damage and come up with a plan. She walked me through the insurance process, helping me sort out what was worth saving and what we should declare a total loss. At each point her main concerns were saving me money and saving the things we loved. I always felt like she put our best interests first. Our stuff came back perfectly clean and like nothing had ever happened. They were extremely thoughtful at every step of the process: acting with urgency on items that needed to be taken care of asap, constantly communicating with me about any changes or updates, immediately sharing concerns about items that may not be able to be saved or had existing damage, packing everything with extreme organization and care, working their schedule around mine. Dealing with mold or fires is inherently very stressful. In both instances working with Lori made a difficult process so much easier and more manageable. While it is expensive to have professional cleaning like this done, I wholeheartedly trust Lori with my money and believe it is all money very well spent. We had a pretty bad house fire in March of last year (2022). At that time, Ricky and his team came to pack up all our belongings and store/clean them of all the smoke damage until we were able to return back into our home. He sent me detailed inventory of every item they took and every item that was a total loss so there was no miscommunication with insurance. It was not until December that we were able to get home. Ricky and his team were SO accommodating to getting us back into our house the week before Christmas, and they were FAST. When his team came to deliver everything back to the house, my husband and I were so impressed with how everything was packaged (especially very delicate items). His team put everything back where they originally found it (even the junk drawer in the kitchen!). It was so amazing to have one less thing to worry about when moving back home. There were still some boxes that I wanted to physically go through myself, but the cherry on top was Ricky said "Please call me when you are done and we can come back and haul away all the boxes" It was such a blessing and made one of the most stressful times in our life, that less stressful. We are totally satisfied with the work Bartwood Construction did for us. We used them in conjunction with an insurance claim with Nationwide. We had a major slab leak that did extensive damage to our kitchen, dining room, and hall bathroom. Jack Hinds and Scott Robinson were amazing. We had so many concerns regarding the remediation, demolition, and reconstruction. Every step of the way we were consulted and they proceeded exactly as it was discussed. The employees were all courteous and trained in multiple trades. They cleaned up every evening and they all observed Covid-19 protocols. Since so many areas of the home were damaged we had Bartwood quote us for additional work so everything came together nicely. Their cabinet guy did an amazing job matching the upper cabinets and adding custom pullout drawers. The flooring guys were true pros. I know because I was working from home so I was able to see the progression. Prior to installation there were obstacles or areas of concern and in every case the installer had nailed it! From leveling the floor with thin set, to grinding uneven tile grout so the floor separation was perfect, to cutting under the door moldings just made the flooring perfect. Also, Jose was their drywall and paint master. Jose did a great job! There were many situations like the above that Scott had a solution for. Scott has definitely seen and done it all and he has an amazing team! I can only review what I experienced with Bartwood and I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others. Construction is managed chaos where its required as a homeowner to be involved if you want to be happy with the results. Know what your policy covers and discuss with your contractor other options and you will get better results. We had asked for multiple supplemental jobs to be performed and Scott and Jack were so receptive to accommodating our requests. As we all know the home restoration business is full of less than honorable company's and it pays to get references and everything possible in writing upfront. I say that in regret of my trusting nature and naïveté in this kind of situation granted the Covid environment complicated things but I never once worked with anyone from the Bartwood company except for the project leader timelines were missed my modifications to the original work order were ignored and all in all I was left and help the situation while they walked away with payment perhaps other people will have better things to say my advice is to always get everything in writing even when told to wait until we're at that point. read more

When we found out that our home had mold and bacteria in it that was making family members ill, we reached out to Lori Young, President of Bartwood Construction. We were told that she was the person that could clean the contents in our home, and she came highly recommended by the mold company that tested our home. Our experience with Lori was phenomenal. She meticulously walked us through every step of the way. It turned out that we had to have all contents of our entire house cleaned. She let us know what we could clean and what should be discarded. Since insurance did not cover this expense, Lori worked with us to keep the cost down. In fact, we had just purchased two new couches before we knew that mold was in our home. Lori had an independent company test the couches for mold toxins. Fortunately, the couches were not infested! Whenever I had a question about something, Lori got back to me right away. There was never a time that I had to call her a second time. She is extremely knowledgeable about mold and bacteria. Her set up for cleaning is extremely professional and we felt so comfortable handing over all our possessions to her for cleaning and storage. We were out of our house for a long time and Lori worked with us to keep the cost down. Also, her staff is very efficient. When they picked up our contents, we could tell that they knew exactly how to handle all our possessions. It was like moving out of our home and we felt good about how they were handling everything. The same was true when we moved back in. Everything was packed professionally, and nothing was damaged. We can't say enough about Lori and her operation. She is extremely personable and so is her staff. It was not easy being away from our home for 6 months, but Lori made our experience more bearable. I called to get a status update and get a new project manager because ours was non-responsive and frankly rude himself. The owner called my wife, who was very polite, I overheard the call, and he lambasted her when she provided constructive feedback and asked for a status update and next steps. He called her condescending and was rude, because he is a misogynist who doesn't like women maybe? He then proceeds to tell us that they are denying us services because we asked for a status update on a repair that has been going on since the first week in January? They can't provide the results or documentation of the work completed to provide us? Their website says they have attention to detail and are customer centric, but I would go disagree as I had to perform the water test FOR THE PEOPLE WHO SHOWED UP BECAUSE THEY WERE GOING TO LEAVE AND DIDN'T SEE A LEAK, haven't heard from them in almost two weeks, and didn't finish the job. I have never been this confused and will be filing a BBB complaint. They have been paid by my insurance company. And Lori, your apologies do not even begin to remediate the disrespect we were shown after you were paid 5k nor does it justify the complete utter lack of customer service at all levels. read more

They did the installation of the cabinets ok, but completely missed the mark on installing my dishwasher. Now my dishwasher door just drops and it is leaking. The owners are the stereotypical construction dude- patting me on the hand and saying, "Don't worry honey- we will handle it." We had a leak in our roof that resulted in wall damage to an upstairs bedroom in our Chino Hills home. Our insurance company recommended Bartwood Construction. They were very patient as they had to wait for the roof to be repaired. It took them 3 days for the final repair which included repainting one room a not common color of adobe. I can't say enough about Bartwoods customer service. After getting home from a long work day, I had gone out to the garage to get my laundry done. When I walked out I noticed that water was all over the floor near my washing machine. Of course, I assumed it was coming from the washer when I realized it was coming from under the concrete. My husband turned off the water and we called our insurance company. They instructed us to call out a plumber and an emergency service company to complete the dry down process. When the plumber arrived he confirmed that it was a post tension slab leak. I'm a property manager so I have dealt with slab leaks at work but never one at my own house. I didn't realize how invasive the leak would be. My family was without water for one week. I called Mike at Bartwood Construction and they sent a crew out to us that night to complete the dry down and then they scheduled to do the repairs the following week. Thank goodness my parents live close so they helped with letting us shower and use the laundry. It took about 2 weeks to complete the repairs and the re-pipe. They made sure to tape everything off and they did not leave a mess. We stayed in the house while the repairs took place. Since we couldn't access our kitchen, we had to eat out a lot. We also had to stock up on water, baby wipes, and hand-sanitizer. This was a great learning experience for me. Amy with Bartwood Construction brought my family a hand written card and a book for my daughters. Amy understood what the family was going through. I will refer Bartwood to anyone! Interior water damage from a water heater was a surprise. What was thought to be a few square feet of carpet involved, ended up involving half the carpeting in a bedroom/office, a closet wall, cabinets and closet flooring. Bartwood was recomended by my insurance company and responded within a day and gave an estimate and timetable for repairs. Work began a couple of days later. If an appointment by one of the workers varied by an hour, I was called with the update. Repairs involved a drywaller, carpet person, carpenter and painter. Each person brought the finest skills available. The repairs have been done perfectly. I have no doubt Greg's supervision kept the team on track. After this experience I'm interested in talking to Bartwood about a bathroom renovation. I have no doubt that would also be done perfectly. read more

Bartwood came highly recommended to me by the mold testing company that confirmed our house was full of toxic mold. Previous to hearing about Lori, we were told that we would likely lose ALL of our soft goods (fabric covered furniture, mattresses, rugs, drapes, coats, thick clothing, stuffed animals, etc). Then we were told about Lori and her expertise with mold remediation. We already knew from testing that these items were not safe to be in our home. These guys are the worst. Stay away. I had water damage in my kitchen and my insurance selected these jokers. I had 2-3 project managers because they kept quitting from the company. They messed up the first time they tried refinishing my floor and had to redo it again. The project took FOREVER. They also messed up in the countertops they had installed and had to replace those again. Lastly, they did not apply any butcher block oil or sealant to the countertops and I had to hire a new contractor to do that. These guys are a disaster. Stay far far away. read more

Even though 2 years have passed since completing their work they still treated me like my project was important and followed up with me right away. Their work has held up with no issues and I've received so many compliments on it. I had the pleasure of working with Scott Robertson and his crew. Between him and Edgar there was no problem they couldn't solve. Everyone on the team was courteous and treated me, my place, and its contents with respect. One morning we woke up to our water heater cracked and water all over our garage. Our insurance deployed Bartwood for clean-up and then to set everything back the way that it was before. At first our experience with Bartwood was wonderful. The team they sent out to dry the garage and test for mold was expert, diligent and then knowledgeable. They cut a hole in our dry wall to make sure that water hadn't seeped where it wasn't supposed to and they set up huge fans for a 3 day period to dry out the soaked carpet that the previous owners had put in. After coordinating with our insurance adjuster, they ended up ripping out that carpet since it was ruined (and potentially a mold problem). So with our carpet ripped out, a hole in the wall that needed to be dry-walled and glue all over the garage floor from the carpet being ripped out, we waited for Bartwood to schedule our fix-up. And we waited and we waited. And meanwhile the insurance company kept calling us with a satisfaction survey for Bartwood's completed work and we had to keep telling them that Bartwood hasn't done anything yet and we hadn't even heard from them. Turns out our Project Manager assigned to us went out on paternity leave. We spoke to several folks at Bartwood who said they would escalate and still nothing happened. Finally after another call where we started getting frustrated, we got to speak to the owner who was very apologetic. He said he would get back to us with a quote from a different vendor they work with but didn't. Then eventually we got assigned to a foreman who said he would come out at a specific day/time to see what needed to get done. He had to reschedule due to another work emergency. Well I think you get the picture...the "date of loss" in our claim was 6/1 and the work was completed 7/28. 2 months for a fairly simple project and a whole lot of headache where we had to constantly manage the process to get them to do the work the insurance company already told us they paid them for...3 stars is probably on the generous side. I rounded up though because as I mentioned the initial dry out/assessment work was good and the drywall patching was good also. So I should mention that everyone we spoke to was nice and while we won't be using Bartwood again, I hope they streamline their processes as I think they could be a much better than "just A-Ok" business. read more

He went way beyond the call of duty and made things happen on a time sensitive situation in the middle of Covid. I had 2 separate piping issues, starting July 2nd. After contacting a plumber and my insurance, Bartwood came to help! The ONLY issue I had was the insurance company, that dragged their heals on the first job, which in a way was good, because when Bartwood came in to check everything out, they noticed the 2nd leak, that practically destroyed my bedroom, kitchen, and family room. Had to get another abatement, and this time I got a different claims adjuster, one who did their best to speed things along. I was out of my house for three months, and I would come once in a while to check things out and to pick up my mail. It looked horrible, until Bartwood construction did their magic. Jack and Juan rocked! They made me feel secure and cared for. They made my house look immaculate! Looks better than it did before all the damage. They treated me with kid gloves, with respect, and didn't tell me about the third leak until it was all over and done with, because they saw how stressed out I was!
