I came in for the first time today for a regular manicure and will not be back. I was seated quickly, which I appreciated, however, the rest of the experience raised many concerns. About halfway through the service, I noticed the clippers being used appeared rusted. The salon overall also did not feel very clean, with a noticeable layer of nail (?) dust on pretty much every surface (supply carts, lotion bottles, even the décor). The service itself felt rushed, and I had to ask multiple times for my nails to be evened out. I had to give up at some point and they remain uneven. Same with the paint - I had to ask for multiple corrections (bubbles in the paint, paint on my skin,...) and they still look unkempt. While I was drumming my nails at the end of the appointment, I also noticed a posted notice of violations, which added to my concern about cleanliness and standards. Lastly, I was pressured to add a tip at checkout, which was uncomfortable and didn't align with the quality of the service I received. I've been here before it's why I went back but after today not sure I will. I went in for a pedicure and mani. First the nail tech cut my nails way too short and without even asking if I wanted a nail trim on my pedicure. And was chopping before I had a change to say a word. They were crooked and awful. Next I was sitting with some solution to take the gel off my nails. I told the girl I needed to be out by 2 yet the manager proceeded to help someone so that a manicure who came in after me saying the same thing. Then for a warm towel recycled what she had already used on me by rinsing in the sink with warm water . Then when I asked for the remainder of gel to come off at 20 to 2 she acted like it was a big problem. Mind you I was already here for well over an hour. And then when it was time to take the gel of my nails she kept filing my skin which caused 2 small bleeds Then it was an absolutely awful rushed nail polish job with streaks in it. I paid money for the crappiest pedicure. The nails were so uneven on my toes. Just don't go. Then she complained about my flip flops because she couldn't get them on my feet And I just got home to look to see I was overcharged. All I can say is the massage was good. read more

My nails were destroyed from gel removal. They didn't even use nail polish remover and let them soak. The guy literally dug into the polish with the scrapper forcefully. I have been here a few times and never had a problem. I went this past Saturday and did not have a good experience. I have never put gel or shellac on my nails and just wanted my finger nails filed and buffed. The woman used an electric device to essentially sand the top of my nails (which were in great shape). I live in Austin, TX (Circle C). Not sure why it is showing another city and state. *********************************** I went yesterday for a gel mani/pedi. The tech cut the topside of my right foot with the "cheese grater" looking tool. She apologized and without asking put a green liquid on the open wound which was bleeding. She did this without using a glove while applying the green liquid. She said "Your skin too thin over bone." I told her that no one ever scrapes the top/side of my foot to remove callouses because there were none there. She didn't even bother scraping my left foot, which was fine. I would have got up and left right then, but my gel nails were still wrapped in foil so I let her remove the old polish and apply the new polish (that I provided). I told her not to bother with any lotion or oils. Against my better judgement, I went to another technician for my manicure. I've been getting my nails done for over 40 years and I assure you, he did not know what he was doing, so once he removed the old gel (which took an hour), I asked for his name (Kevin Dang) and to see his cosmetology license. I also asked to see the lady that did my pedicure (Heather Nguyen). Kevin literally ran out the back door and the person in charge Jenny/Kensie (she said she just legally changed her name) assured me that they were licensed but that she wasn't going to show me their licenses and that she didn't have to show me their licenses. When I started to leave, she said "You have to pay." I told her I was not paying for the worst experience I've ever had in a nail salon. She proceeded to follow me to my car while videotaping me and trying to block me from leaving. It was just awful. When I got home I did some research and here's what I found directly from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation: Ten Most Common Code Violations in Establishment Inspections: 5. Failure to attach current photograph to the front of a license, certificate or permit. 83.70(f) - A current photograph of the licensee at least 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches shall be attached to the front of the license or permit, or digitally displayed along with an image of the license or permit. The photograph may not obscure any information on the license or permit. "Texas Cosmetology Commission completes regular inspections of salons to ensure compliance. The state warns that some of the most common code valuation include FAILING TO INCLUDE A PHOTO ON A STATE-ISSUED LICENSE... Today I was denied manicure service because my electric wheelchair did not fit under their manicure tables and the manicurist refused to sit beside me or find any alternative solution. She also announced very loudly that she would "have to sanitize my hands because I couldn't wash them" - yes, because their sink is inaccessible to a wheelchair user. Then, when I couldn't reach close enough to her through the plexiglass because my wheelchair couldn't fit underneath , she said she couldn't complete the manicure Rude. Insensitive. I'm not one to write reviews but here goes. I got my nails done exactly 2 weeks ago from today. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. The pedicure service was awesome. The manicure guy was distracted and forgot to cut my cuticles and buff my nails. I had to tell him. No big deal. My gel manicure usually lasts at least 2 1/2 weeks perfectly and before 3 weeks it starts to peel. This lasted less than 10 days before starting to peel! It looks embarrassing. It's now been two weeks and I have to have the nail polish removed. I called the salon to see about their policy and the manager was unapologetic and rude. They guarantee 10 days for gel. To me that's an insanely expensive endeavor for 10 days even if price is on par with other places. She said I had to go in at 10 days even though I was traveling and just returned today. I'm super disappointed as due to the price, I only get my nails done a few times a year (and as a result, try to make it last as long as possible!). Anyway, sad to say I won't be going back again. Not sure if it's the quality of their polish or what but def not worth it. read more

The tech did not ask how I was or anything and was very resistant to communicating with me but had no problem giggling and talking with her coworker. She jerked my hands instead of asking me to move them. The pedicure was $42 for "special" a little more than I'm used to paying. Again she did not communicate with me then ended up cutting my left toenail too short so when she started filing she was literally filing exposed skin. During the "massage" she literally held my foot up by my big toe and rubbed the heels. It was the most bazaar experience. A few months ago I started going to ProNails and really loved the quality of pedicure I was receiving there. It was thorough and I was pleased to find a place so conveniently located for me. One week ago I showed up and they were busy so I made an appointment and came back only to wait for another 30 minutes to get my pedicure. The pedicure I received was extremely dissapointing. My nails were not shaped, my cuticles were not taken care of and the paint job was genuinely worse than what I could have done for myself. I didn't want to embarrass the women who gave me the service, so I called immediately after to provide feedback. The woman I spoke to wanted me to return within 24-48 hours to get my nails fixed. That did not work for me, I had just sat for 1.5 hrs with my baby to get my bad pedicure and my schedule would not allow me to return on their timeframe for the fix. If you go to ProNails be careful of which technician you get- not all are the same quality. read more

I used to love going to this salon, It has been awful under the new management. They are not kind whatsoever. They rarely ask how you are doing or communicate with you while you're there. They typically jerk you around without asking you kindly to move your hands or feet. They have a very bad attitude and it's not a pleasant environment. I live in the circle C neighborhood and can no longer recommend this salon. I have tried to give it multiple chances and they are just plain rude. I am not a fan and th nails aren't anything special for what they charge. The more recent time, I found out they had used gel, and after taking it off me, the lady put something on the skin around my nails that burned like crazy. I asked her what it was and if it was supposed to hurt, and she just said "It's fine it's for dry skin." It stung so badly and she just let it sit on my skin, even after I said again that it burned, I bled a little, and my clearly concerned mom asked her about it too. First time going to any nail salon, period, in Austin. I chose this one due to its Yelp reviews. Pros: Lam, my original manicurist, was excellent. The location was clean, well kept, and had a good selection of colors for a regular manicure. The price was great. Cons: Lam left another woman to finish up my manicure so he could start a pedicure. She was not nearly as attentive to detail as he was. All she had left was to apply the top coat, and she missed a chunk on my thumb. In addition, I managed to smudge three of my nails on their drying station, and when she redid his handiwork she put the polish on so thickly on one nail that even after using the drying station (without incident the second time around, go me), I touched the nail and polish oozed out onto my skin. Which also means she missed some of the top coat on that nail. I would go back again next time I'm in town and in need of a manicure, but I'll pay more attention to how they're doing my nails. read more

I've pretty much been here every six weeks since I was 7 months preggo (and I have a 4 month old ;-) They might have a basic version but I get one the special pedis like Milk & Honey or Lavender or White Chocolate or whatever other yumminess on the laminated card they hand you. Ok, so it's the most expensive pedicure I've ever gotten, ringing in at $50.** I think you can even add some more on that, but it comes with THE WORKS including the sugar scrub, a mask, a hot stone massage, a nice long regular massage, the hot towel wrap, and so forth. Oh, and champagne. Sure it's Cooks. But it's unlimited. And, free. Bright, and more importantly, clean. Everyone is wonderful here - a big fan of Skye especially. In addition to Korean, everyone speaks English and is just lovely, and is sociable only to the point you wish them to be. Service is impeccable, and if it isn't up to your expectation, say so. The technicians are perfectionists and if for some reason someone has an off day, simply point it out; I have been encouraged to speak up. (Quality control is high: The owner walked by once and didn't think my pedi was perfect, asked me if it was ok if we backed up a step or two to make it so.) Pedi's are my thing but once got a shellac mani and it was also flawless. Highly recommend this spot, especially if you go Friday night or Sunday late morning: have your fill of champagne then walk over to BurgerFi to chow down. **I suspect you are questioning the reasoning of spending $50 on my toes when I have an infant. I asked for a regular polish and was only given gel samples to look at, and I didn't know and was never told until it was too late. I got handed off to 4 different employees throughout. One lady working on my nails literally stayed standing up, one foot ready to walk away the whole time while she only glanced at what she was doing. It wasn't even that busy, a weekday in the afternoon. I stressed so many times that my nails were for an upcoming special occasion and I was sad to see the splotches of missed paint, streaks, and bumps. Do yourself a favor and take your money elsewhere. My nails look great and I had a glass of wine while I relaxed so I can't complain too much. It's really close to my house, the massaging chairs are fabulous, and I'd go back. Sadly, my favorite part of any mani/pedi, the massage, left something to be desired. The manicurist didn't use enough moisturizer to even cover all of my skin and her massage felt more like a little pat on the hand. The pedicurist used a sufficient amount of lotion, put in a decent amount of time, and used a bit more force but I was still envious of the girl down the way getting what looked to be an aaaahhhhmazing foot massage from the only male technician I saw. Miss #2. The mani and pedi were at the same time. Fine if we had been in a hurry but it was a Saturday afternoon and we were there just to relax.
