Saw some bad reviews for this place so I was little scared to come here but I just couldn't find another nail salon with consistently good reviews. So I said what the heck it's cheap can't be that bad. Well, I have to say the reviews were wrong. I had a great experience here on a Thursday evening. Got dipping powder nails done by Alex and pedi by Lola . Never had dipping powder done before but I enjoyed the experience. It's super quick and no worrying about messing up your nails after because it dries quickly. Couldn't be happier. My pedicure lady was not rough and also did a great job. And omg they have a ton of colors for gel, dipping powder, and regular polish! I did hear another client say the pedi station is usually packed but today nope. So I would recommend calling to make an appt for both mani and pedi. Parking- street parking can be challenging but just beyond the shop if you turn right, there is parking lot behind the building with lots of spots. There was no other salon open so I ended up at Princess Nails. The paint job itself came out decent. I got a Gel French pedicure. Everything else..... absolutely horrible! This place is DISGUSTING! They don't properly sanitize in ANY shape or form. They use containers to hold the products for pedicures and dip their hands directly in the container and then place it on you. This is after they have been touching your toes already! She used a foot scrubbing tool on my foot, rinsed it in the foot bath my feet were soaking in once done using and then placed it back in her box for next use! What the heck!! When it came time to plug in the LED lamp for my gel pedicure, the lamp sparked and popped. The wiring on the LED lamp was visibly frayed. I have never had a more unsanitary experience in my LIFE... and I'm prior military!!! I'm not sure how they haven't been shut down yet! I'm just so grateful I didn't get an infection! read more

I must admit, I was a bit skeptic about trying a new place in Jersey but thankfully, I heard about Princess Nails via referral. I made an appointment with Cindy (the owner) for today (Saturday, Aug. 15) at 11 (which was booked this past Wednesday). I arrived in time only to find out my name wasn't even added to her book - so she wasn't expecting me. Ok. Cool. No Biggie. I decided to get a pedicure to kill time. My pedicure was AWESOME! The massage chair almost put me to sleep as well. I know some people are repulsed by nail workers who don't wear gloves but me, personally, I don't give a damn - just as long as you do it right. She felt every callous I had on my feet and made sure to target those areas. She massaged and scrubbed them fearlessly. I didn't catch her name but she was an older woman. God bless her. She's almost has good as Anabel in Brooklyn at The Nail Lounge (Clinton hill). By the time she was done, Cindy wasn't ready yet - which would've normally irritated me but seeing as though she was extremely polite and apologetic, greeted EVERY customer who walked through the door, knew her clients by name and didn't even have the chance to eat, made me feel thankful that she had to time to do my nails. 30 minutes later, I'm finally in her chair. She thought my nails were wrapped with acrylic but soon learned they weren't - in which she was surprised. Her compliments made me feel good (eat your veggies ladies! You don't need hair/nail pills to grow strong nails) and because of that, she recommended gel only. I got the gel French manicure, which came out lovely! Going forward, this will be my new spot. So far Jersey living has been good! PROS: - When you're in the chair, she's extremely fast, talkative and polite. - The pedicure (depending on who you go to) is good along with the massage chair. - The prices aren't bad. I paid $35 for my gel manicure and $20 for the pedicure (I've paid more in the past coming from Manhattan). I tipped each $5 so in total, I spent $65. I don't mind paying for quality work - in which I received. CONS: - The administrative part of the business sucks. If I make an appt, I expect to be seen at that time and not wait longer than 10 minutes tops. - She's a little rough (which I didn't mind) but some people may get offended. - They don't seem to be very hygienic (no gloves used and I didn't see them clean their materials thoroughly). I've been to the lowest of the low and the highest stellar spas and I find the best pedicures are done w/o gloves but that's my personal opinion. However, with regards to the materials used for pedicures, they have to do better. If there is a cleaning system being used, I didn't see it. Otherwise, there pretty decent. Thanks Cindy! read more

Trust me this place does not deserve 5 stars AT ALL , so any 5 star rating I don't trust. I've been coming here for yeaaaaaaarrrrrssss being that I grew up in the area. The service gets worse and worse each week I swear. They have their loyal customers who come all the time who also have very low standards. I refuse to do anything other than my eyebrows (threading) or pedicure here. As much money as they make you would think that they would update the place. This place is absolutely terrible. Like they weren't clean or sanitary. This is ridiculous, how do you continue to cough in someone's face and then wipe your nose and continue to work on their hands? I got SNS powder, which was a good option from the nail tech. But she did a horrible job. It's bulky, uneven and she did not clean up the area around my cuticles or underneath my nail ST ALL. Why am I at home doing it myself? it's so frustrating because it was so unprofessional there, they were on their phones and it was blazing in there & it's the beginning of May so it's not even that warm outside. WARNING! My friend is a regular at Princess Nails in Union & her nail tech is Alex but this time that she got a fill in Alex wasn't there so my friend trusted another nail tech. Within two days of the fill in her finger became green, swollen and painful. I advised her to remove the nail but it literally became too swollen and painful so she kinda just waited hoping it would go down. One night she calls me crying hysterically about her finger and I had to actually take her to the ER. Not only did she go to the ER but she also had to go to her primary MD & she got prescribed antibiotics because her finger was infected! Her finger had to remain wrapped and she was unable to work for two weeks & had notes from the ER & her primary. Being a health care professional I noticed that her finger was all necrotic tissue and pus. This is all because Princess Nail Shop does not properly sanitize their equipment! I'm writing this review to warn others of the uncleanliness of this place. This is the second time she got an infection from this place however the first one wasn't as bad as this. It was just swollen for a few days. The owner Cindy was unapologetic, rude and nasty. She does not care about the well being of her clients at all. She even tried to argue that my friend "banged" her finger...wtf. Her finger literally looks like a burnt hotdog. This is clearly an infection. My friend wanted a refund rightfully so & Cindy did not even want to do that. It's not until she started to talk about pursuing legal action that Cindy folded and refunded her the measly 55 bucks. It's obviously the principle about the situation & it's horrible that this business owner could care less about her client who's been going here for years. SMH. Do yourself a favor ladies & gentleman. Spend your money where they practice cleanliness& respect for the clients. read more

I was referred by a colleague who has been going here for 8 years. I have been going to a place right down the street but the young lady broke my long toe nail and I now it's going to take me a month or so to grow it out.I'm so pleased I was able to get an appointment. Manuela provided a great pedicure and manicure during my appt at 5pm. She was on time and I had a spa pedicure for $25 with callous remover for $5. The pedicure took 50mins. I then did a manicure for $5.00. My nails are a medium length and she did a great job at cleaning them, filing and polishing with light pink. They look beautiful. She did an amazing job at scrubbing my feet and I never had to remind her or ask her to do anything over. I love having a weekly pedicure and I have found a new place. The salon is cramped because they have squeezed so many technicians in. Everyone was warm and friendly even the customers. The pedicure chairs are so close you really don't have any privacy but if you go on a Monday evening like I did it may not be too busy. I would avoid the weekends unless it's a must. Parking was easy. Service was excellent. Manuela is a doll. I can't wait to go back. Although my big toe is shorter than I prefer she made both round rather then square and they look great. DO NOT GO TO THIS NAIL SALON!! I got a pedicure and the lady who did my feet did them in 10 minutes. She rushed my pedicure, did not use any soap to scrub my feet, and left polish on my toes. I told the owner that I was not happy with the service and she basically agreed with her worker. Her worker also told me my feet were dirty and she will not be finishing my toes because I said she rushed my toes. I walked out of the nail salon with no polish on my toes. This place used to be okay a few years ago. I've since moved & I came back today cuz I was in the area. Honestly never coming back. It looks okay from a distance but my gel manicure is uneven & she didn't even consult me on shape before she filed them down (I didn't say anything cuz I don't absolutely hate the shape, but I said "round" not "pointy round." Place is diiiiirtty. Really, really gross. Dust everywhere, tools are NOT sanitized, they use the same nail file for multiple clients, did not change the liner in the pedicure chair. I could go on & on. Also, I asked for a callous remover & she just did the normal scrub with the pumice stone. I asked her if that was it, she said yes. I asked if they did the callous remover gel with Saran Wrap, she said no. They charged me extra for the "callous remover." I paid it for even though I literally didn't get anything extra. Ridiculous. Honestly, there are so many better places here. If I'm ever in the area again I'll just stick to Beyond Nails in Millburn. Two stars because my pedicure is actually nice, & manicure is decent (if uneven). read more

I tried 2 other nails salons on the same block before coming here and 3rd time is definitely a charm. I don't see myself ever changing nail salons again. For one they are very decently priced. I stick to gel manicures on my natural nails and they always come out perfect. My go to is the guy (Alex?), and if he's not available then Cindy and if she's not available I'm going home. Pedicures I let anyone do them, they've come out fine each time. There's always a wait so I try to go during non-peak hours/days. I'd say they're pretty clean, pedicure stations look new, manicure stations not so much. I usually pass on the cuticle clipping because of past experiences at other salons, NOT this one. I like the fact that they douse it with alcohol prior to use if I decide to do it that day. i know a better cleaning method can be used but I'm not a germaphobe so I'll take it. I was very dissatisfied with a recent manicure I had at Princess Nails. I came on a Friday night with a friend who is a frequent customer. It was very crowded, but I didn't mind waiting. However, it seemed like there were many disgruntled women who had been waiting for a long time- even with appointments. I probably waited about 15 min for my manicure, which was the quickest manicure I'd ever had. The filing was not done across, but rather the manicurist scraped my nails quickly with a buffer, leaving them very squared off and unevenly slanted. Also, instead of using a buffer on my nails, she used the sander type thing that is used for acrylics. I've never had a manicurist use such a powerful tool on my natural nails- I guess she was too lazy/rushed to buffer by hand? This left my nails very flimsy and tender. For only $8- you get what you pay for! Edited to add: I should also mention that while washing my hands in the middle of the manicure, the OWNER (Cindy, I believe) came over to the garbage can right next to where I was washing my hands and hocked a loogie- gross and unprofessional! read more

This place has gone all the way down. Not clean at all for pedicures and the owner does not seem to care one bit. They're always cleaning when they open and they use those same brushes to clean the pedicure bowls then try to use them on your feet. Does anyone care about foot/nail fungus?? I had been going to see Cindy for more than 5 years before I decided to discontinue my visits. They stopped taking their time with the mani and pedicure service which resulted to many errors (chips cracks etc). Cindy is outgoing and personable but sometimes dismissive and aggressive. The heavier guy that stared working in there is the most rude and mean male nail tech I have ever let touch my hands. which on happened twice in 5 years. A new and younger crowd started to filter in and thats when I knew I had to switch salon. There is no regulations on not allowing the young girl bring their babies or small kids, they run around yelling and just making the place a mess. I've seen Cindy, herself on several occassions ask the parents to control there children or leave which should never have to happen in a nail salon. I got a really nice manicure there today. The lady was nice and quick, and did a great job both shaping my nails and painting them. She did my cuticles carefully and well. I was very happy with my manicure which is why I gave them three stars. But this salon is very unhygienic, they obviously do not sanitize their tools, they keep everything one of those plastic little boxes kids use to keep pencils in. All the boxes are very messy, not in any way organized and they pass these boxes from station to station, manicurist to manicurist. This is (barely) more acceptable for manicures, but you couldn't pay me to get a pedicure there. The manicure is $10, so you get what you pay for, I guess. But after writing this review, I realize it is unacceptable and unsafe to use a cuticle cutter on one person and then another without sanitizing it. Cuticles bleed easily. I will not be back, I'd rather pay more and have piece of mind. I DO love the color I picked though!!! read more
