Great spot for a scalp massage with my sister is Milburn…read more We decided to do a sibling massage room instead of a couples massage to enjoy each other's company along with letting our heads melt into their hands. They did a scalp wash with shampoo, conditioner and a couple of massages, brush, wash and rinse. It was coupled with neck, shoulder, arm and hand massages because I have less hair than my sister. Took advantage of the Groupon for our session and had to pay $10 for taxes and then tip afterwards.

When I arrived, I was greeted warmly and after I used the restroom, I was escorted right to my room. They already scored points for me in this area! Appointments should start on time!!! Nina and Linda did my service today and they were very sweet! The service was unlike anything I've experienced. During the entirety of my service, some part of me was getting massaged. If it wasn't my neck and shoulders, it was my face or my arms and hands. I was not expecting all of that and was very happy and relaxed. Multiple tools were used on my scalp throughout the appointment, such as their fingers, gua shas and other tools to help the circulation in my scalp. There was at least 30-40 minutes of massaging before my hair even got washed. My only downside is that they use the same products for all hair types. I have very curly hair and with that comes dryness - it's the dryers hair type. They just kept telling me "your hair is dry" and it didn't seem like they had good product for my hair. After my appointment, I was headed to work so I called previously to ask if the hair is styled after the service and I was told yes "blow dried". My naive self thought that that ment a blow out. Guess not so naive, because I know there are places in the city that do finish off your service with a blow out. Really, what they meant was a light blow dry and the rest with air dry. This does not work for curly hair, sadly. My hair was a frizzy mess and was not their fault - that's just how curly hair is. You have to add product to it. So I had to run to the pharmacy to get product since I went directly to work after this. That is truly my only complaint, but to be honest, I would still book again and just know to bring my own styling products to apply after the massage and wash. Thank you to the wonderful ladies at Millburn Glamour Day Spa!

The masseuses were clearly untrained--there was excessive use of oil, awkward pressure, and random elbowing that felt more like rough play than massage. At one point, the masseuse even laughed with her colleague while continuing a technique that was more ticklish than relaxing. The room was cold, and instead of proper sheets or blankets to stay warm, we were given hot towels that only made the temperature contrast more uncomfortable. The entire setup felt more like a training center than a professional spa. The included "champagne and chocolates" was equally disappointing. Despite asking ahead if the chocolate was vegan, we were given two random Halloween-sized candies (Twix and KitKat) and flat, tasteless champagne. This experience was a complete waste of time and money. I left feeling more stressed than when I arrived and immediately went searching for another spa to salvage the day. On top of that, the gel polish on another nail was already chipping, and another one was starting to lift. To make matters worse, they require customers to bring their own nail file and buffer - otherwise, they charge you an extra $3 to buy one from them. It feels so money-driven and unwelcoming. Honestly, I would rather they just include that in the service price instead of nickel-and-diming customers for every little thing. Overall, I left feeling frustrated and disappointed. Almost immediately afterward, my nails became extremely thin and brittle. Since then, they have been consistently breaking and tearing. Some of the breaks go all the way down to the nail bed. It has been incredibly painful and upsetting. To understand what was happening, I went to another nail salon because my nails have always been strong. They assessed the damage and confirmed that my nails had been severely overfiled and structurally compromised. I also consulted a medical professional who came to the same conclusion. I am still dealing with pain and ongoing breakage and it's been over 6 weeks since the visit. I'm sharing this experience as a warning to both the consumer and to the salon. Damage like this doesn't just fix quickly, and it has significantly affected my daily life. I have spent $200+ dollars on products and treatments to deal with the damage and pain. For the first week, I was taking Advil almost daily. I truly wish my experience had been different because everyone there is nice, and my nails did look beautiful after the first two visits, but I cannot recommend this salon based on what happened during my last visit. I think the manicurists at this salon are capable, but they need to be more careful.
