I received a groupon from my son-in law for my birthday, the groupon expired in April during COVID LOCKDOWN. Businesses werent even open! I called to ask if they would still honor my groupon and the lady flat out said no. I purchased a session via Groupon. I called to make an appointment and the person who answered the phone seemed to be in a hurry and had "no time" to entertain my questions. So I wanted to make an appointment for a Saturday which is when I'm off from work. The rude lady was like no weekends only Monday and Wednesday. . Needless to say I got my money back and will be looking for another place. My recommendation: stay far far away from this place. A gift card is given to me as a gift for "couple romance with champagne." My husband couldn't go so I used it on my birthday. When I walked in, the lady behind the reception desk (I think her name is Sue) was screaming on the phone and I immediately felt tense than when I started. She pointed for me to go to the bathroom and gave me the assigned room # after. As I was was mentally and physically preparing for my 60min massage and telling myself, "well, you don't have to deal with her so just relax...I hope her day gets better" when suddenly she walked in and introduced herself as my massage therapist! Well, you can just imagine how the rest of my 60 minutes went by, her massage was mediocre and she was just rubbing my body like a gigantic lamp waiting for the genie to emerge! It was horrendous. After the massage, she brought me back to the front desk, gave me a white envelope for gratuity and tax. then she was "upselling" (more life shoving) products down my throat and she kept the rest of the gift card with UNUSED 60 min credit and a bottle of champagne. When I asked her about it, she pretended not to understand or hear me...I was so aggravated I couldn't wait to get the hell out of the salon. My husband was so thoughtful to purchase a massage for me through Groupon. I made the appointment and they were able to accommodate a 60 minute combo massage within a week. The place appeared clean and spa-like. At the reception desk, the woman behind the counter was quick to tell me that even though my husband had purchased this massage that I was required to pay the tax for it, and also another fee. Nowhere on the voucher does it mention such a thing. They were quick talkers and circled this small print that I believe applied to online orders or groupon goods, not services. So right off the bat, I had a sour feeling about the experience before I even get in the room. The masseuse was friendly, but was not skillful. It felt like she was winging it as she went along. She actually stepped on my back and legs at some point. It was strange and uncomfortable. If I had to count the minutes of the massage that I felt relaxed, it may have been about 10 minutes. The other 50 min were full of pain, confusion, and gimmicky massage moves. As I was leaving, they gave me an envelope for gratuity and made sure to get their tax and fee. I had a couples massage and facial here. I purchased a groupon which included: chocolate, fruit and champagne. We did receive the champagne and Hershey Kisses but not the fruit. I inquired about it at the end and received two clementines.My massage would have been good if my masseuse actually used her hand instead of her arm to massage my upper body. She literally used her arm to roll up and down my back. At certain points of my massage I felt her elbow poking me. The place was clean. The rooms felt very intimate. The bathroom was clean and nice. There was a huge emphasis to tip even in the bathroom. My facial was ok. The receptionist kept trying to force us to purchase another certificate for their new location. The staff was friendly. It is a Thai/Chinese style massage. If you are expecting a regular Swedish or deep tissue massage this is not the place for you. They also offer Thai Massage and eastern shiatsu (where the lady stands on your back). I had a lot of tension in my neck and shoulder and it was causing a lot of sinus pressure and headaches around the eye and head. The deep tissue massage really helped relieve the pressure. No, it was not painless and no it was not entirely relaxing but I felt much, much better after it was done. I felt loose and limber and it relived a lot of my sinus pain and pressure. They will try and upsell you and will try and sell you a massage package after your massage is over, but that's most places. read more

I had a massage by a women who used her forearms, it was painful and absolutely not relaxing . She used a lot of oil you have the feeling to be too oily, absolutely not pleasant . Groupon terms didn't say that, and despite FULL availability AND staff walking around aimlessly hoping for clients, they turned me away on a Saturday morning. They also have a discount sign outside their front door on the weekends touting lower priced massages with no mention that the prices are only good on weekdays. I've read many of the reviews after going to this spa and I wish I would have read them before hand! First off, upon entering the spa I was not greeted. A receptionist was at the desk and said nothing to me at all. She proceeded to go to the back with another customer w/o giving me any reassurance that she would be getting to me. This wasn't a huge issue. I let it go. Then, I gave her my groupon that was $69 for a 60-min. facial and hot stone massage. They took my groupon and I patiently waited for around 15 mins. before the next customer came in. I'm not trying to play any race cards but if you are African-American please do not waste your time or money. After waiting for sometime, a white woman came in, presented the same groupon and was sent back within 10 mins. Mind you I've been sitting here going on 25 mins. now. I politely ask about the wait and they tell me they are getting a room ready. Another 15 mins. pass, why I'm still there I don't know. At this point I'm getting angry and I ask not so politely how much longer. I was ready to just go. They apologize and immediately take me in. I walk to the back only to see numerous rooms that were already prepared and ready. They had me waiting for NO REASON at all. *side-eye* The facial was wack. Not up to par, very amateur. Staff means well but unfortunately wasn't a very good experience. I only went because I had a groupon as a birthday present. I walked in and the first words out of the lady's mouth were, "you have a spot on your face, we can remove it for you." I just shook it off & said no since I figured it was a language/culture barrier thing. It just wasn't very polite. Then, she kept pushing me to "upgrade" to a deep tissue, telling me it's what I need when I had literally JUST walked in. I told her it wasn't my first massage and that I want Swedish several times. I kept being harassed in the room as well about "upgrading" for 10 dollars to deep tissue and I promptly said, "no, I want Swedish" & the lady FINALLY stopped asking. Eventually, after a decent at most massage, I walked out to pay the tax that apparently wasn't included in the groupon & left a 23% tip in the envelope. The lady told me that I need to pay 10 dollars. I said well I'm leaving 9.50 lol she was literally bugging at the other 50 cents. Honestly regret not taking it all back. Please think carefully before going to this "spa"! I purchased a Groupon for a 1 hour Swedish massage and arrived a few minutes early. The lobby looked nice and they took me to the massage room right away. My first red flag should have been that they didn't ask anything about me at all- not about injuries, sensitive areas, where I want to focus/avoid, etc. The "masseuse" (yep, in quotes) had me start laying face down and began by literally clawing my scalp. Now, I love a good head massage and even some light scratching but she had long nails that she was literally digging into my head. It was a painful way to start! Unfortunately, it got worse from there. The majority of my massage was just her rubbing her open palm in circles over and over again on my back. If that was the worst part, I could get over it. Not every Groupon is a win and I would have moved on. However, she then proceeded to completely uncover me from the waist down!! There was literally no reason for this! I moved the sheet back and every few minutes she would pull it further down again until I was completely exposed. To make matters worse, at the end she tried to massage my butt and high on my inner thighs. To say I was shocked is definitely an understatement! To end this fabulous experience, she had me flip over to be face up, yanked on my arms and then "punched" me all over my legs and *ahem* private part. My esthetician was very pushy but her English was awful so I had no idea what she asking me to buy. The facial was basically a really long face massage, no extractions but she was convinced that I needed an "Algo" facial, I asked if she meant Aloe but that was not it‽. They talked my BF into adding on a microdermabrasion for $40(originally $180)-why did he do it?! It was literally 5 minutes long. I was disappointed with my experience here. I purchased a LivingSocial deal for this Dayspa in Millburn for an hour facial + 1/2 hour massage for $69. I thought it would be a nice treat for myself while 6 months pregnant. They assured me they knew how to perform prenatal massages over the phone. But I had to insist I lay on my side for the massage and they did not offer me any support pillows for my stomach (as I have been offered at other places). The massage was ok-mediocre. It did not leave me feeling very relaxed. I was also unable to communicate with the masseuse because she didn't speak a word of English. But, the worst was yet to come. After the massage, I had to lay on my back for the facial (not a great idea for a pregnant lady) on the hard, uncomfortable massage table. To their credit, she liberally applied product after product that seemed to me to be of quality. However, when the facial was almost over, the previously silent esthetician began "consulting" my skin pointing out the obvious flaws: oily t-zone, dry forehead, and acne. She proceeded to aggressively up-sell me on a collagen mask for an extra charge. I refused several times. Then, she switched tactics and strong-armed me into acne-mask for an additional charge of $30. She insisted that I "needed" this mask. Having some issues with my acne, I thought perhaps she was right and agreed to the service. Well, she left me alone on my back for another 20+ minutes with the mask on my face. This is when my lower back started feeling awful and I tried to change positions on the hard table with little hope of relief. I struggled with the discomfort until she finally reappeared and finished the facial. I went to the restroom, expecting to see reddened skin. But to my surprise, my skin did look pretty good. When I went out to the lobby, I was offered a tiny dixie cup of water. Then, two of the women proceeded to stare at my skin and tell me about all the special organic products I needed for my skin. They both strong armed me into purchasing very expensive (but nice) spa products for my skin - spending an additional $100 I had not intended on spending that day. I will not return to this spa. So I received a groupon for my birthday for a 60-minute Swedish massage. Here is brief summary of my day. Now I called about a week & a half prior to when I wanted to go, told them I had a groupon and everything was okay. My appointment was for 10:30 am so I thought but I received a call a few days prior to confirm said appointment and was told it was at 10:00. So I arrive at 9:59 am (just in time) head in, there is an elderly couple waiting to be seen and about 4 employees trying to sort some things out with the couple (definitely shouldn't take 4 though). Finally someone acknowledges me takes my groupon info BUT the phone rings so she answers the phone proceeds to handle them and pass me off to another employee. Side Bar: Now their system is HORRIBLE, they have a appointment book but its old and pages are worn and they basically just use blank pieces of random torn paper to write peoples names and numbers down, very unappealing to a potential customer. I mean its 2015 get a computer! So the lady takes my info and asks me to follow her to a room like 2 doors away from the front desk got undressed (leave on undies) and get under the covers face down. The massage started at 10:09 am and she immediately explained off bat that the Swedish massage was basically just a slight rub down and if I wanted anything using pressure I could add $10 extra for a deep tissue or hot stone, I politely declined. The overall massage was okay, nothing to brag about, felt weird as if someone keeps rubbing the same spot it becomes annoying and dry so I'm convinced it was baby oil. Everything was done at 11:06 she owes me 3 minutes (joke) but once I'm dressed and step outside to pay for the tip they have the cash envelope in head and ready(PUSHY), it bothered them that I didn't have any cash on me. Oh & once I got to my car I had a ticket, mind u I parked right in front, someone could have said something or dropped a nickle in, if I would have been 6 minutes sooner I could have avoided it. I made a Yelp account just so I could warn everyone about this terrible excuse for a spa. I wish I could give it less than one star. A family member sent me here with an amazon coupon for a facial with neck and shoulder massage, and while I'm normally picky about who gets to pick my face, it was free so I figured I'd give it a shot. Never again. Not if they paid me. The staff is rude and completely unprofessional. The facialist refused to work on me unless I paid an additional 60-80 dollars in an acne mask. She was insistent and kept pushing and repeating about the oily condition of my face. I know my face I don't need you to tell me, and if I don't want to spend extra money, I don't like being bullied into it. The facial itself was uncomfortable and excruciating. It felt like she was slapping 2$ lotion on my face. She hit my eyes repeatedly. The massage was awful: painful, in addition to uncomfortable. She lowered my robe waaayy past my comfort zone and proceeded to push her hands underneath, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The extractions were at once some of the most painful I've ever endured, in addition to the most useless. I regularly get extraction heavy facials and was wincing in pain. She used almost all needles, which added to the pain. I was still bleeding when I arrived home and I can already tell that most of what she did will not heal/will come back as more acne. The mask was heavy and again, useless. It began to bleed into my eye and when I told her this, she just dismissed it and left me in the room for 20 minutes. A minor flaw, in comparison to the larger issues I've mentioned, is the terrible atmosphere. Everything is uncomfortable. The bed is like a plank. Also, you can hear all the goings on outside. When she finally came back, she peeled off the mask and there was still a HUGE chunk of it in my hair and scalp when I arrived home. Honestly this was the worst facial/experience at any sort of beauty salon/spa/place that has to deal with people in my life. Rude workers who try to squeeze money out of you and do a terrible job. Don't go here. Seriously. Please don't go here. Whatever deal you think you're getting isn't worth it because 1-your skin will be worse than before and 2-they will bully you into spending more money anyways, money that could be spent at an actually decent spa. read more

I struggled to give this spa a star rating in that my feelings are quite mixed. On one hand, I get 5 star facials at Dayspa Millburn - but here's the caveat: You must ask for Jayne. She is knowledgeable, gentle and has just the right demeanor one wants when going to a spa to relax. She has given me the best facials I have ever had. Unfortunately, when I had a facial with someone else at this spa, it was the worst facial I ever had. I have read some of the other reviews and I concur about the uncomfortable hard push to sell their products. Additionally, there is difficulty in booking an appointment in that unless you speak directly with Jayne, you better take a Berlitz course in Chinese. My girlfriend gave me a couple's massage with facial as a Valentine's Day present. We used an Amazon Local voucher. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly, offered water and quickly brought into the spa room, which was prepared with champagne and two Hershey's kisses. We enjoyed our champagne but decided to leave the chocolates for after the massage. The room was clean but a bit cramped and quite noisy. Two staff members, a masseuse and esthetician, joined us quite quickly. My better half started with the facial while I received my massage. The massage was a bit different from what we were used to from other venues. It started with pressure points followed by long strokes with oil. The masseuse was quite rough. After about 40 minutes the staff switched. As the previous review pointed out, the facial was mostly a face massage. When my girlfriend declined extraction with metal tools out of concern for infection, the esthetician became a bit irritated. She was also quite pushy with service upgrades, such as specialty masks. That was a bit frustrating. During the session, the esthetician kept popping in and out of the room and people kept coming to the door to talk to her. That detracted from our relaxation. After completion of the services, we noticed that our chocolates were taken away. Upon checking out at the front desk, a hard sell for additional services and specials became very unpleasant. This was my first time here and I went with my aunt and grandma. The first thing I noticed was how rude the staff were and how they degradingly talked to my grandmother which I didn't like. As for the masseuse, they only speak Chinese so the language barrier was a problem. They kept talking to me in Chinese but I don't speak Mandarin (which they knew) so my preferences for a massage were blatantly ignored. The customer service was largely lacking and very bad. I never experienced any of the concerns other people had. He was very quiet--- just like i like. I don't get a massage to have conversation. The reason why I only gave 4 stars is because my facial was only ok. I have acneic skin, which we did discuss as she cleansed my skin. As such, I am used to heavy extractions. She only performed a few. I am not even sure what type of facial I received but it involved many creamy/oily products. She did offer an upgrade to microdermabrasion and collagen mask....not pushy at all. I accepted it. The microderm was so-so. I have been to this spa five times. The service provided for the price is fantastic but the customer service is horrendous. They yell at you down the phone line for purchasing their Groupon and refuse to make appointments. Supposedly you are only allowed a Monday to Thursday appointment if you have a Groupon (which is not in the fine print when you make the purchase) and I work so that is not feasible. When you say you'll take an appointment even if it is a couple of months down the road they refuse to schedule two people together. They are rude, abrasive, and completely unprofessional. I'd rather pay slightly more elsewhere and have your business appreciated then frequent a place where their customers are cash cows and can be spoken to in such a disgraceful manner. read more

This was by far the most bizarre spa experience I have ever had. I purchased the couples massage with facial on living social. The language barrier was a bit of a problem at first, I couldn't really understand much of what was going on... eventually I understood to follow someone down the hall to a massage room. We were put in there indefinitely, it had to be easily 15 minutes before anyone came back. Now the massage starts. I was actually uncomfortable and glad that I wasn't in the room alone, it sort of felt like being in a Korean nail place except laying on a wood plank almost naked. I was relieved when it was all over... Yes they tried to have me purchase additional services during the facial and after, I couldn't get out of that place fast enough. I agree with so many of the comments here. I didn't have grand expectations going in, but apparently they also were not low enough. I called to make a reservation before buying a Groupon and they told me they would honor the Groupon rate but then said a higher rate. After about 4 rounds of negotiation we got to the Groupon rates and made an appointment. They called to confirm and a few days later we arrived to be told we should upgrade to deep tissue if we wanted more than just soft caressing of our skin. We gladly upgraded for $10 and were then unexpectedly taken to the couples room where we waited for about 10 minutes for the masseuses to arrive. Once they started, the face rest was uncomfortable and when the sheet was moved, it was NOT discretely draped. Hands were moving to places that I didn't expect them to be so close to and the massage was just outright painful. I asked her to lighten up but she only obliged for about 30 seconds. The ladies kept talking to each other throughout and we could hear other convos through the wall. The icing on the cake though is the bruises I ended up with. When I got home and took of my scarf I discovered long dark bruises on each side of my neck/shoulder where she broke blood vessels. I purchased a Livingsocial offer for a massage at this spa. I should've known it wasn't going to be a great experience when I noticed that they constantly promote specials via Livingsocial. However, I thought I'd give it a try. The massage was mediocre & they have the audacity to ask for a tip. Also, cameras are in every room. I'll never go back. I went there because I bought a groupon! (90 minutes) the minute I called they told me to come in for 60 minutes and do the 30 another day. I said "no I want 90 min massage!" I had to wait 2 weeks! Then when I got there, they required, that I pay 8 dollars for tax. Not sure how 90 minutes $50 groupon is $8 in tax (oh yah .80cents more for paying credit card). Then they asked me if I wanted strong pressure?! I said Normal massage regular Swedish, I'm 120lbs petite and normally get massages with no need for deep pressure. Well Since I didn't pay more, I got a 90 minute rub!!! Zero pressure, no exaggeration! She did not apply thumbs to this massage at all, nothing like looking forward to a massage and laying there wondering how much longer! She used the palm of her hand to give a massage. I was so annoyed! Then they asked me to book again lol! I said "no" obviously! They asked me for a tip by putting a little yellow pocket envelope in front of me and saying tip tip and speaking Chinese or Korean! I gave a $10 tip - I know they were annoyed, but I was annoyed even giving anything! I wish groupon had a way to review purchases! This is positively the WORST RUN BUSINESS I have ever seen. My fiance and I booked our traditional yearly Valentins massage. Two days before the appt, they called to postpone BC they had no heat. So we reschedule for the following Sunday, and call on that Friday to confirm. Well we get there and they tell us "No you no have appointment. You cancel. No appointment for you". We called to confirm!!! No apology, no nothing. And they speak such poor English that if they don't understand you on the phone they just hang up on you. This happened three times. I bought 2 90 minutes massages on Groupon. When I called to make an appointment I mentioned I had a Groupon. The closest appointment they had for 2 massages on the same day was 3 months later. (Meanwhile we were the only people there lol). The rooms are small the beds are up against the wall so they can't move completely around the bed and they put 2 beds in a small room. The beds are just beds there is no spot for your face except some rolled up towels in a U shape. (So your breathing your own hot air the whole time with your neck at a bad angle.) The room is cold and right next to the bathroom so we can hear flushes while waiting. Luckily they werent busy so it only happened 3 times. The women bump into eachother trying to navigate the room. And the massage oil is cold like the room. She put my body in the most akward position with my arms over my head. Then she removes the sheet places a small towel between my legs and leaves it like that most of the time. I thought she would at least see that I had goosebumps and put the sheet on me but no. Then the most akward horrible massave I have ever expierenced went on for 90 minutes but felt forever. I contenplated getting up and pretending I was sick. But my partner was laying on the bed next to me. Now 5 hours later writing this review my back is killing me so please if you get anything out of this review: DON'T GO HERE. YOU WILL REGRET IT. DO NOT BUY THEIR GROUPON. IT'S A SCAM!!!!!! Can someone please tell me how to report this place?? Is a complete SCAM!!! They sell groupons but once you tell them you have one they wont make you an appointment. They will tell you automatically that they are booked for the next 3 months. Then we called back and said we wanted an appointment and we were going to pay cash and they told us they have appointments available but would't make the appointment unless we gave them our credit card and pay ahead. We contacted Groupon and made the complaint. We got our money back!!!! read more

OMG! I can't believe a place like this exists. This is not a spa - it's a nightmare! Why would a nice town like Millburn agree to have a place like this? Waited a long time before getting help from front desk, where woman did not speak English. Told to pay extra $$ for a massage, because Groupon price of $39 was not a massage but a "back rub". After paying extra wished I hadn't as the massage was so incredibly hard, I had to ask several times for pressure to be reduced. Front of body was not massaged - not sure what that's about?? As I walked out, several ladies in their broken English tried to coerce me to buy a membership. Who does that on the first try? This after I wasn't happy? PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE! It's worth reading. The service was deplorable. I've been attempting to book with them since May. It has been over a month. I paid for on Groupon for a 60 min. Couples Massage; 30 min. Swedish + 30 min. facial w/ champagne, fruit & chocolate. I called on 5/10 and booked my initial appt. for 5/17, and they asked for my voucher code before even getting there which was odd, because it shouldn't be redeemed until you actually get there. I called in advance to reschedule and I was charged a $20 fee to reschedule ($10/masseuse). I eventually cancelled and did not plan to follow through because of the attitude I received on the phone and the hassle of booking, after multiple attempts to book with them back in may. I gave them another shot and I called on 6/21, no response or call back. called again on 2/22 and was told the rescheduling fee is $40 ($20/masseuse), which was more than before. I eventually booked went yesterday 6/25, ONLY because when they asked for my voucher code again, I checked my Groupons and saw that it was redeemed without my knowledge since 5/17 and I could not get Groupon bucks. She advised me to bring cash tip because they don't accept tip on cards. I didn't plan on tipping period because of the phone experiences I've had, but bought cash with me in case I felt different about the actual service. When I got there, the location had a stench. No aromatherapy or warm welcome. I was told I had to pay the rescheduling fee upront. AFTER she swiped my card, I was told that I was charged an additional Groupon fee that they never made me aware of. I paid about $60, rather than the $40 she told me she would swipe for. You CANNOT swipe someone's card extra without their permission. Very rude and it turned me off. We were NOT provided w/ the fruit they advertised/paid for, and were given 4 little HERSHEY KISSES. Barely any champagne. The massage was terrible and the room was cold. The masseuse, which was the same lady who swiped my card, said barely anything to me. It was very hard to relax. My eyes were open the first 5-10 minutes as the shock of how mediocre the massage was and the scent from the inside of the head rest. The facial was nothing serious. When it was time to checkout, I was insisted that I tip them, and I refused, because it was my option to do so and my best friend that I was treating as a late graduation gift, did not enjoy herself. I was embarrassed for bringing her there and giving tip is OPTIONAL, so I OPTED not to tip. I had $ in my wallet for tip but they weren't getting a penny more. The other masseuse who serviced us went on, pleading for tip, and saying that we MADE them stay overtime. My guest and I came BEFORE our scheduled time. The masseuse refused to take no for an answer. She waved the gratuity envelopes at us to give extra, and eventually YELLED AT US, AND TOLD US NOT TO COME BACK. That would be the least of her worries because I only came because I paid for service that was never given a month ago. We didn't yell at her or get out of character and they treated us like animals on the street. She slammed the door and locked it shut on our way out. They mumbled things in their language too when they realized I did not plan to tip. Don't waste your time booking with them! It wasn't worth it before or after the visit. I am leaving this review because I failed to do my research on their location prior to paying on Groupon. Their customer service CLEARLY explains why they need to give discounts. That was my best friend's first time receiving a massage and my fourth. What a terrible first experience for her. I've had massages before and all of my experiences before were phenomenal. This review is the honest truth, as crazy as it sounds. If you don't believe me, go for yourself and waste your money but this is the warning that I did not get. Never had a bad massage here. Every masseuse gives a great massage from medium pressure to deep tissue. Pricing is very fair and availability is good. I recently had to leave in the middle of a massage for a family matter and they were super sweet and concerned. They did not charge me for the massage and would not accept a tip.
