Clean, quiet, and private rooms with soothing music playing. The lady behind the reception desk is very warm and nice, presumably the owner. I like that this place is open early and late and appears to be well staffed. I tried to make an appointment at Elements in New Providence and they wouldn't have anybody available that could do deep tissue until noon and only seemed to have men that do deep tissue when I prefer a female therapist. My therapist, Angela, applied just the right amount of force and obviously is well skilled, identifying problem areas on her own and focusing exactly where I have been experiencing chronic pain in my left shoulder lately. They offer package rates and discounts and really do offer a nicer facility that is better staffed with authentic and skilled Chinese massage therapists for comparable pricing. Wifey and I are looking forward to being regulars!

Crucially, she recommended additions that made a meaningful, impactful change to my body. I was in a lot of pain prior to the massage, and I left the facility feeling utterly amazing and restored. The facility itself greatly contributed to the experience. The overall environment is very calming. The locker rooms are very nice, and I appreciate that a shower is available. The waiting room is a wonderful, thoughtful touch; the combination of tea, a heated shoulder wrap, and coloring books is a perfect way to relax before the service starts. They did a scalp wash with shampoo, conditioner and a couple of massages, brush, wash and rinse. It was coupled with neck, shoulder, arm and hand massages because I have less hair than my sister. Took advantage of the Groupon for our session and had to pay $10 for taxes and then tip afterwards.

That's where the magic begins. Upon entering, you are greeted by a soft, aromatherapy scent - this immediately sets the stage. You remove your shoes and change into provided slides. You are then quietly ushered into the treatment room. (Remember to silence your phone. Better yet, leave that phone in the car, this is you time.) We came for reflexology, a treatment I've never had before. While it's not required, you'll get more from your treatment by removing your shirt - sports bra is probably a good idea but you're in private so just a bra is ok too. (Remember your mom's words - always wear clean underwear!!) Oh, and wear shorts, although they will give you a pair if you forgot. First, you are given a tub of hot water with flower petals to immerse your feet in while you enjoy a neck, upper back, arm and hand massage. The oil is removed with hot towels that further ease any residual stress from your upper body. From there, you are told to lie on a the table and covered in a soft blanket while a warm, aromatherapy infused wrap is placed behind your neck. If you weren't already relaxed, here is where the melting begins. A deep massage is given to the legs and feet - you will wish this never ends. Once again, warm towels are placed on your legs and the oil wiped off. Your therapist then comes to the head of the table for a short scalp massage. All good things must come to an end. You get dressed and upon leaving the treatment room you are offered a small cup of herbal tea. A perfect ending to a perfect hour. Beauty City's prices are extremely reasonable. The spa is very clean and the therapists beyond competent. I don't live in the area (or even the same coast) but I hope to find something like this in my hometown. I highly recommend you take advantage of this hidden gem.

Both massages were good however the reception could use some work…read more The first visit ended with the receptionist arguing with me about "undertipping" when I asked for a certain amount of change back after paying for the service. The total difference she was arguing was a $2 difference. The whole time she was holding my change hostage until I agreed with her. I did hold my ground and tipped what I was planning in the end but it was definitely uncalled for behavior. I could tell on my second visit that I was marked in the system some how because I was then required to pay prior to service and then was questioned by the staff to confirm when my last visit was. Tipping culture has gotten out of control and to be treated like this over $2 is crazy. Will not be returning.
