My sister's been coming to this place for a little over a year and she raves about it. Was so happy to finally visit with her! Kim was amazing -- so welcoming and friendly! The gel mani ($35) she did was as good as it gets.. she even gave me a beautiful, hand-painted sparkly heart on each pointer finger! What a kind touch! I got a back massage ($13) for a few mins while I was getting my mani -- it was just what the doctor ordered after my boxing class the night before. Grace was so warm and sweet! Nommy did my pedi ($30) was patient (and boy, did she had her work cut out for her!). I was so satisfied with how attentive to detail she was! Rushed and poor quality. They did no cuticle or cleanup work that you typically get elsewhere for the same price. Not great coverage on the sides, back into nail base, nor front tip, and she got mad when I asked if she could get more on the sides where there was a blank strip. Got pedicure about 2 weeks ago and it was awful. The technician cut my cuticle so badly that it caused a horrible infection. For days, I cleaned it, soaked it, neosporin, etc. A week later i had to go to a podiatrist and have the infection cut out of my big toe. I couldn't walk for a week and now I am on antibiotics for 10 days and can't even put on a sneaker it hurts so badly. Not to mention that I also got a gel manicure - which was bizarre, sloppy and took WAY longer than any gel manicure I've ever had. Had to wait for over 40 minutes for a painful pedicure, then was asked if I could sit under the dryers and wait for a manicure because - and I quote - "a regular and more important customer needs a manicure". Where do I even begin? Management is a mess. Got a gel manicure on 7/18 that fell off the next day while I was in the city. Called them on 7/19 to request a refund, which apparently they don't do. They over-charged me by $10, as well. When I called to complain, they refused to offer a refund, and said it was because "my nails were probably too short for a gel manicure", which if that was the case, they should have refused service in the first place. Go to Kim's, they're way better and across the street. Vibes were HORRIBLE, service was unfriendly and management was incredibly rude. I've given this place second and third chances and this past Friday was my final straw. I got a gel manicure which felt extremely rushed, I wasn't even able to pick my own color. I was basically bullied into whatever the manicurist wanted to do who also butched my several times. This isn't the first time I've come out with bloody cuticals. Personally, I don't think the place is anything special. I had an appointment, changed it to an earlier time, arrived and ended up waiting for a very short period of time as it was quite busy so I was confused when they said "okay" to me changing it to my new rims but whatever. Nails came out well but the place is a bit outdated and felt a bit cramped in my opinion. AWFUL! If you're looking for SNS - go elsewhere!!!! I called to see if they did SNS manicures. They said yes, so I made an appointment. The manicure was very strange to say the least. It took far longer than any other SNS I've had and we finally get to the end and my nails looked totally tattered. I went back and forth with the technician as I've had SNS manicures for a year now and they've never resulted so poorly. In the end she put a gel topcoat on which immediately peeled. I used to be a customer of Kim's Nails, down the street from Leo's but they started to slack off so I switched to Leo's. Leo's owners are very nice and initially when I started coming here, the nail techicians were all very attentive. In addiiton to a regular mani and pedi they rub your feet with a hot stone and end both a mani and pedi with a 2-minute shoulder massage. However, in the last few months, Leo's has really taken a nose dive in my opinion. They no longer pay attention to the customers, but instead rush through the manicures and pedicures, often times cutting into the skin. Some don't speak English and this makes it so much harder to communicate what you want done. Lastly, their appointments mean nothing - you'll still wait. Parking is hard in Maplewood and if you have a limited amount of time this isn't fair. I found a better place in Millburn where I started going. Good-bye Leo's. read more

Also a small shoulder rub at the drying station. I will definitely be back. What a lovely experience. I was treated well. Went here for a pedicure. I didn't like the fact that the pedicure chairs are so close to one another. I felt extremely uncomfortable! They did have plastic partitions that came half way down but I still felt too close to the next person. The ladies that were doing the pedicure constantly spoke in Spanish to each other. I find that was a bit rude when you're performing a service on a client. I wasn't at all pleased with the outcome of the polish job, but I wasn't willing to have her do it over. What I do like is that they use the plastic inserts inside of the foot basins. I find that very sanitary. Lastly, the owners were very welcoming and kind. As far as parking, there is ample parking behind the store in the lot. Oh, and everyone wore face masks and there was plenty of hand sanitizer available. read more

I received a HORRIBLE chemical burn and then skin was removed and damaged with aggressive exfoliating. I still can't walk on my heels and will need to see a dermatologist. It is THEIR responsibility to train unlicensed employees with the proper use of callous remover chemicals. They handled the situation poorly and ignored it. They offered a free pedicure next time? Absolute worst experience of my life. Rude service, deliberate twisting and pinching of nails (it increased after I complained), and different shape and shade of color on my nails. I came here early in the day, so I was the first customer. I find that whenever I do anything super early on a weekday my experience is almost always positive. Leo is a perfect example. I went in, no wait, and was done in about 30 minutes. Service was very friendly. The place is spacious, clean and the pedicure chair was very comfortable. This was a thorough pedicure. So no short cuts. I paid $25. I'm not sure if that's pricey or standard for the area. Either way I was okay with the price. Oh, and I guess all pedicures come with a shoulder/neck massage. When I want a manicure, pedicure or massage, this is where I go. The place is large and very clean. The place never smells of chemicals like a lot of other places. I like their massaging pedicure chairs too. I bring my daughter from time to time and they always treat her nicely. I usually get chair massages but the times I've had the massage in the private room were great. The guy who does them really knows what he's doing (unlike the guy at Maplewood Nail across the street). They also have a loyalty program which keeps me going back- just remember to bring your card. read more

This place is hit or miss. It's local for me so the convenience of it will keep me going back, but it's not always the best. Pedicures are usually fine, and I have not had a bad experience. However, the last time I went I also got a gel manicure. The technician did a nice jobs on the nails, but seemed to be rushed and in a bad mood. The shoulder massage she gave me as my nails were under the UV light for the last time was rough. At times she pressed so hard I really wanted to tell her to just stop. Next time I will because it was getting to be uncomfortable, which is the not the point of someone rubbing your back. But that wasn't enough to make me write this review initially. It wasn't until one of my nails chipped (6 days after I had them done), that caused me to write this review. All gel manicures I have received before last a solid 2 weeks before they chip or break or look messy from growing out. See photo. More chipped after this, at the one week mark, and it went downhill from there. I have been a regular patron at this establishment for about a year. Every two weeks I go for my regular gel- fill, and for many months I was satisfied- they got the job done and their prices were comparable to others in the area. Well, about 3 months ago one of the nail "technicians" sliced my finger with the buffing tool and it hurt so badly I physically recoiled in pain. No apology, she just grabbed my hand and continued on. When she applied the gel, it was so thick and gloopy that it literally burned my nail beds when curing under the UV light. It was terrible. Since then, I have refused service from this particular woman, and have received service from a couple of other women at the salon. The past few times I have been in, I have received service by a woman named Sue who is adequate at best. This past time however was the last straw. Once again, the buffing tool not only cut my finger open, but took a CHUNK OF SKIN off of my finger. She then applied some blue liquid to it which burned and stung for the next 2 hours. She dropped the nail file multiple times to the floor and then went to continue filing my nails without replacing it..... Ummm, no. My actual gel manicure was terribly applied with visible streaks in every nail. Despite the fact that she removed a chunk from my finger, they charged me the full price of $55 and pressured me into making an appointment for my fill-in in two weeks. I have to say for this nail salon to look so nice and professional they are the complete opposite. Their prices are way too high and they overcharge you for every little thing. I took my bestfriend here who speaks fluently several languages and she translated and told me they were speaking about me. Over all this place does decent nail work and are very rough and rude. I was disappointed by our last visit here. Perhaps they changed owners or something but a manicure shouldn't hurt that much. The person who did my pedicure was sweet but the woman doing my hands seemed rushed and arguing with someone in the store. She could see that I had healing scrapes on several fingers but still roughly pulled them and sanded a few nails to the bed, she also left a few cuticle edges bleeding.
