We made an appointment for 4 and when we arrived we realized they only had 4 chairs. One chair was occupied and she was in the middle of her pedicure, which messes up the timing. So Now one of us is out and adds an extra HOUR to the visit. The tools are NOT sanitized between customers. When I asked if the tools are sanitized between customers the woman stated that each lady gets their own tool set! My reply was yes but are they sanitized between customers.... No answer! The nail technician was getting close to digging into my cuticle so I had to tell her to stop. She did not get everything clean and the experience was just very underwhelming. The nail polish chipped after a day. I won't be returning to this salon. read more

I just got my first gel mani since COVID and would definitely recommend this place! I've never been to Ambrose before (just moved to the area in Feb) so I was nervous to try a new salon, but it was very clean and they followed all the necessary safety guidelines. Plus, their staff is very friendly and professional, which can be hard to find in my experience. There was only one other customer in the salon, and we were never close to one another so it felt safe (she was getting a pedi on the other side). All of the stations have transparent screens/shields, everyone was wearing a mask, and they asked me to wash my hands before they started and when they finished. Very nice first experience! I just moved to this area and had a tough time finding a nail salon with decent reviews that accepted walk-ins - I didn't have to wait. Great customer service, very friendly staff, comfortable chairs and a nice atmosphere. $35 for a Gel manicure which includes a short massage and a paraffin wrap - it smells great, too! I have tried so many nails places, that I have giving up on keeping up any standards. I this point I just wanted someone that could take away the excess cuticles and give my nails a clean polish. In my search for a nail place close to work Ambrose popped up. They gave an appointment for the same day at a very convenient time for me. The lady that did my nails(I wish I would have taken her name) did a fabulous job. She was precise and delicate with the polish. 2 weeks in and my gel manicure still looks good, not one chip on them. Unfortunately, for my pedicure it did not go so well. My feet started feeling rough within the day and the polish started chipping the day after. Overall, I still had a positive outcome because is boots season. I will be going back soon. read more

I've been seeing Amy for a while now, and I honestly love Ambrose. Sure it's a bit pricier than other places (just barely, though) but the quality makes it all worth it. The first time I came to Amy, she fixed my botched up nails from another salon in Kenilworth, and I noticed how detail oriented she is, and how gentle she is. I always leave the salon feeling taken care of with a mani that LASTS. I don't always get pedicures, but I did get one from Yolanda previously. Again, the care they take when they treat you is light years ahead of others. I went to another salon in Chatham when Ambrose was closed (worst experience of my life). The girl at that salon removed my cuticles by pulling them and it hurt so bad, my toe was sore for a week! And she couldn't paint the color I had asked for, which made me wish I had just waited to go to Ambrose. I don't think it's hard to communicate what you want with them, and they're very nice and accommodating. Plus, Amy has a stamp card and you get a small discount after every 5 sessions! Overall, don't expect a place that does crazy designs, but if you just want a GOOD mani/pedi, this is a great place to go to. Another tip: call ahead of time so you don't sit around waiting. She holds your spot; I've usually always been able to come in about 10-20 mins after I call her, and I get seen right away. read more

Very unhappy with my experience here. I got a gel manicure. One week later, the gel was completely peeling off on every finger. It was a terrible manicure. I went back in to ask them to fix it. They fought with me and accused me of lying about getting my nails done there, even with a receipt. After they begrudgingly agreed, they redid nine of my nails and refused to do to tenth. Didn't clean them with alcohol or anything. They lost a customer and showed me how awful they treat their customers. I'm appalled that this was the case after spending nearly $60 on a manicure and pedicure. I hope they learn how to treat people better next time. read more

I am so satisfied with my gel manacure. Amy does an excellent job! She is very quick but very professional. Another plus is that she speaks English yay!! I love how they give paraffin for free when you get a pedicure. A lot places charge $5 just for that. I've been living in this neighborhood for a long time and been to a so many salons in this area but this place has become my favorite. Best manicure I've ever gotten. My nails were in bad shape from the amount of moving around furniture I've been doing. Rebecca was able to do some miracle work and give me strong, shaped, gel polished nails to be proud of. I didn't realize I would also be getting a hand, shoulder, and neck massage in addition to a hand scrub, wax dip, and lotion! In & out in 45 minutes and feeling fabulous. I really liked the atmosphere of Ambrose. It was beautiful and clean. I was a walk-in and they took me with no problems. I got a gel manicure set, and it was a great manicure that included a paraffin was, which I LOVE! However, I do not think my technician was super experienced, and I felt like I had to give more direction that I like to give. Eventually, I just stopped. Granted, I have been getting my nails done for a long time, and I am particular about how I want them to look, so take that into consideration. Overall, my nails look pretty good.
