I am highly upset and disappointed with the disrespect that my furniture was handled. Lets start by saying a walk through occurred when the movers arrived. My move was from a house to storage unit as our new place was not ready yet. They were extremely nice all, 4 movers were cordial. 3 of the movers spoke limited English so there was a bit of a barrier; that being said I pointed out nd labeled items that were not to be loaded on truck. We were not fully packed that was ok, I asked that they load boxes, furniture and items that were and as I packed would include those boxes. No packing was asked of the movers that is to be made clear. Disassembling of the furniture, including the bed, tables, patio furniture and removing the TVs from the wall was made clear. This is what happened: - The movers taped and loaded empty or half empty boxes. - Furniture was not disassembled and broke during the move. - The TVs were boxed without using the foam pads that were provided in the box. They just stuffed the TVs in the box. - The ASKED to confirm to take a open box answer was no.. they took it anyway, taped it and ultimately took to storage. This affected the availability of boxes to pack with i had to run out and buy more boxes. - Boxes labeled food dont take they loaded on the truck. We were unloading the freezer and they asked to take the box i said NO. Walked off for 5 min to answer a question they loaded the box of frozen foods onto the truck along with the other food boxes. I ran out to the truck to let them know the mover said i dont know. i tried to explain. he attempted to look for the boxes and said its all the way in the back. ok we will get it on the unload. unloading i asked them for the food boxes they said ok. went to answer a question from another mover they had placed the boxes deep in the unit. i asked them to stop and find it the wall of boxes fell down. They had placed those empty boxes on the bottom and the heavy furniture on top. Found 2 boxes of food not the frozen food. Two movers are stepping on my stuff that fell and broke, while the other 2 are still loading up. Im telling them to stop and find the box but they wont. they are still were loading. Called the owner he said i should expect a number of broken items during a move. I explained about the food the lead said Damn well we've opened units with rats and mice and roaches before thats not good. All the while not insisting they help me or taking responsibility. - I asked to file a claim they wouldn't give me the info said take the $200 its better than what you would get from the insurance - Didnt finish the move had to keep the truck overnight, thats a charge that the lead said he would pay for however it was baked in the price a different area - the next day the lead said they did more damage to my furniture than i was aware of. pointed it out to me. they still have a piece to my grill that was not returned ..the drip tray. I asked repeatedly for the invoice took a week to get, no response on my broken furniture. I had to pay another mover to go in and move the items in the unit when they untaped it , the wall fell again the box with the frozen food was rancid in 120+ degrees the smell from the fish and meat was awful in the unit. when they found it one of the movers threw up. I could go on but wont it would be a novel. Dont do it Choose another mover. Do uhaul and hire a mover this company destroyed my stuff read more

A great, new moving company who performed and delivered as promised. The owner personally does the moves with his business partner and they both do a great job. They were very self sufficient and required minimal direction. I would definitely recommend their business to anyone who needs to move from their old place to a new place. I really appreciated that they were very careful not to ding the new walls, and took their shoes off on my new carpet. I figured I would make my review after I have emptied all my boxes, which took a couple of months. With that said, here is my review. I was trying to make my move from CA to AZ before Christmas This would allow me to be with my kids and grandkids before Christmas. This is my first interstate move 40 years. The price I received was very good. However, you get what you pay for. Please keep in mind that Akela Moving is an agency and are not the actual movers. The movers they contracted were very nice and gave me lots of boxes prior to the move. After that, it got a bit shaky. First, I was asked to move the day of the move from a 2-day setup (Pack Day1 & Place in Truck Day 2) to an early date and condense pack and move to one day. This was because they all wanted to be home before Christmas, which I can understand. On the moving day, the moving team came late. They brought a rented moving van that smaller that what was required. I was told it would take the 4-5 hours and it took 8. Upon inspection, they almost forgot to pack the master bedroom closet until I brought it to their attention. They barely got everything into the van. Then they made me feel like I misled them on the size of move when they had already inspected the home twice. Basically, they misjudge the size. When they left, drinks (much I provided) and other garbage was left all over the house. They wanted me to be at my new house in AZ 9am the next day. That would only leave me a couple of hours of sleep after driving 9 hours. So, we agreed to 1PM. When they were completed the move, they asked for an additional tip from what was negotiated back in CA. After unpacking everything, I found that my cart and bathroom scale were missing. Also, a couple of my collector Hummels figurines were chipped. Yesterday, I found that the master bedroom frame was missing 2 screws and a cross support had collapsed. The upsides were that I did not have to wait for my delivery. The team was very friendly. The put together my office desk set, which was difficult to do. I was given a very good price. I was given lots of boxes. Most of the items was moved without being broken. Perhaps, if they did not feel rushed and brought the right sized Van they may have done a better job. read more

These guys completely changed my perception of using a moving company. The last time I used one, they just milked the hours for as long as they could. Jason, the foreman, and his crew were real pros. They used extra caution with every box and piece of furniture they touched. They were incredibly fast too and finished about 2-3 hours sooner than I expected! Best decision I could have made when moving. Scheduling the appointment was very easy and the accommodated the time and date I needed. The moving process itself was amazing. I didn't have to lift a finger. Josh and Ygor literally did everything. I felt so disorganized and overwhelmed but in one hour they have put my entire room on the truck and disassembled/moved my bed. They got everything into my new space easily and communicated to make sure everything was placed where I wanted it. They were friendly and flexible and also had all he tools and supplies needed. While unpacking a day or two after my move, I noticed I was missing a piece of art. I was so stressed out but I reached out to Akela and he was quick to respond and check the truck. We had a huge move, 2 houses moved into one! 2 trucks completely packed, 6 movers and a non stop day! Each one of these movers hustled to get us moved, packed, transported, furniture was dissembled and re-assembled with care. It was an insanely hot day and despite the heat everyone was kind and courteous and got us packed up and moved into our new house. Even my daughter commented on how kind everyone was. Mike and his crew were incredibly efficient and got what should have taken six hours done in four. Not to mention very affordable. These three guys worked their tails off. There were dozens of stairs at both my old place and the new one, but by the way they handled it, you'd have thought everything was on the ground floor. Arrived timely, moved quickly, and were reasonably priced. Overall did a good job and was worth the money spent. Only problem I had was they were not able to assemble my bed, connect refrigerator, or connect washer/dryer. I thought I needed screws for bed and mirror but after movers left I looked behind the dresser and screws were there and Because a piece to my bedpost was not on top of bed post movers said set up would be dangerous. Good service from this company! They sent me 2 movers with a truck and they had all the supplies to make my move on a Sunday afternoon seamless and efficient in just a couple hours. Jason and his team were great, friendly, funny, and professional. They took care of everything and were so helpful with packing up my stuff. They carefully wrapped up furniture, disassembled and reassembled my bed, packed up my closet, and handled everything effectively. They had the challenge of moving my large couch out of my small apartment entry way and then up the stairs to the 3rd floor but did it with no issues. It was impressive! I used Akela in July and I was very impressed. They were friendly, efficient, and a great price. So I didn't hesitate to hire them again in December but later I found out that the ownership has changed. This time, the movers were noticeably slower, not very friendly, and charged us more money at the end. I could tell they just weren't very careful with our stuff and refused to help with disassembling a part of the sofa in order to make it fit thru the staircase. They simply said "we're not going to do that, but you can do it" and went outside for a smoke break while my husband and I were disassembling it. But after all the moving was done they just started slowly screwing in some dining chair legs even though we didn't ask them to, and I realized that it was because they wanted to work extra 15 min and they charged us for 30 extra minutes. Obviously we won't be recommending this company to anyone. read more
