I've moved the cheap way on my own 3 times and once with friends and a rental truck. This was my first time hiring movers and I had no idea where to start. I did a basic google search but that was overwhelming and confusing on how to understand the pricing system. I finally had a friend tell me he utilized yelp for a project inquiry and that helped in getting businesses to reach out to me with a little more of a targeted price, but it also felt like a lot of the responses where AI responses. Prime Moving was the only company who called me. I honestly still wasn't 100% sold as I wanted a more concrete rate that I would be paying and not put in a situation where any movers knowing it's an hourly rate past the required 3 hours could take advantage of the situation and take longer to get more money. I fully understand it's nearly impossible to determine how long a move will take but I think most still want some sense of security that it'll only cost "xyz" amount. This isn't a comment specific to Prime Moving but the moving industry as a whole from what I experienced. A friend had mentioned they utilized Prime Moving so I felt that bit of security and ultimately went with them. Adam was one of the two movers and both were very kind and professional. I originally was not going to write a review even though these guys were the worst movers I have ever worked with. It's been almost two months since I completed my move and I keep finding damages on various pieces of furniture, such as tape / glue stuck to the side my dresser, numerous chips on various pieces of my bed frame and headboard, scratches on my expensive $8000 massage chair and more. During the move these guys broke a light fixture on the stairwell, broke the handle of the screen door and dents the walls on the stairway walls. To add to the above, it took over 8 hours to move from a two bedroom townhome to a one bedroom townhome where approximately half the furniture and boxes went in the garage. FYI...The distance between the pickup and drop off was within a 12 mile radius, so drive time was minimal. Total screwups and very unprofessional movers. I would have been better off hiring day labors from U-Haul or Home Depot. Definitely would have saved several hundred dollars. If you value your furniture items don't want to repair holes in the walls or other broken items, I would suggest staying as far away from these guys as possible. By the way they provide my moving services under the name "Prime Moving" FYI.... I received a call from these guys asking what it would take to remove my negative review. They even offered me money. This probably is why they don't have more negative reviews. read more

Absolutely a fantastic experience! We were lucky enough to have Nick & Max help us with our move from Escondido to Lemon Grove. These 2 guys were so much stronger than they looked! We were honestly a little worried on how long it would take 2 guys to move our 2bd2bth into a 2bd 1 bath. We had capped our budget at $1k and thought we would go over our budget but Nick and Max were SO efficient. They hauled over 70 storage boxes (the Costco kind), furniture, bed frames, electronics, and even a heavy solid wood dresser down 14 steps to get to our new place! Heck if I could ask them to lift me up and down the stairs I totally would've! A total of maybe 7 hours of packing, loading and unloading! We made small conversation and I found out they are from Kazakhstan! I am from Malaysia and so we had a good brief conversation about our similar cultures. The guys at Akela Moving are fantastic. They provided fast and reliable service; taking extreme care of our furniture, quickly disassembling and reassembling multiple pieces of furniture, and ensuring we had everything set exactly where and how we wanted it. Our move was not easy job, but Jake, Eric and Dan handled it like champs! We had 3 flights of stairs with no elevator and they guys hiked it countless times carrying multiple boxes or incredibly large furniture including our gigantic refrigerator! They expertly packed all our furniture with extra padding to ensure everything was delivered without a scratch. I was a little worried about moving our 3 glass display cases, but then I saw how awesome they protected them for transit that all my worries disappeared. When we got to our new home, I really appreciated how well they cleaned up all the extra wrappings after our move and placed things in a neat and organized way. We hired Akela Moving to move a two bedroom apartment, we had three movers, Jason was very helpful with beds and table assembling. The whole process took 6 hours. They did not charge us double driving time because it was 6 miles drive for 15 mins. and the price is unbeatable for 3 man moving! Moving beds and sofas to third floor is challenging and they managed to finish the whole moving with professional attitude. However, they were late for our job but it was understandable because they traveled from Los Angeles to Irvine, and the traffic was bad. In the end, Jason the foreman decided to give his share of the tip to other two helpers! He is a very nice person to work with. Over all, the moving was good! These guys were great! I ended up having to schedule my move last minute, the Sunday before the last day of the month, and they got right back to me even though I was reaching out on a Sunday evening! Understandably most companies were unable to schedule me at this late in the month with such short notice but these guys got back to me right away, after exchanging messages they called me up and we discussed particulars. After a few easy steps we had my movers scheduled for the morning on the day I needed them. The communication was great and they showed up within the window they had promised. The guys who showed up listened to my needs and after assessing the move, they got right to work. They went above and beyond in terms of wrapping my crates of vinyl record albums as well as my furniture. They worked quickly and as a team. The unloading was done very efficiently as well, and they got everything done in less time than I was expecting. When it came time to pay, they had a digital invoice with all the estimated charges reflected on it and nothing hidden or surprising at the end. They charged exactly how they said they would and everything was so much easier than it could have been. Day of move, the movers came on time. My movers were Mike and another gentleman whose name I did not get. They were quick and efficient with getting my stuff in their truck. I was most worried for my Peloton bike, but they handled it with care. The movers were able to get my things (including my Peloton) to my new place in perfect condition. They gave me quotes based on videos of the house and came a few days before the move to give me some wardrobe boxes. They disassembled and packed everything very very quickly and with care. They packed the truck so efficiently that there wasn't any wasted space. They drove from California to TX with nothing broken and did a great job placing things in the right spots and reassembling everything. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. Our appointment was for 2pm on Saturday, but thankfully, another customer cancelled and they were able to come early. Kuka, Charles, and Igor were our movers. They were respectful, efficient, and very friendly. I felt bad that we had so much stuff, but they were patient and never complained.
