So I've heard mixed reviews on this restaurant and finally had a chance to try it today to form my own opinion. Located near the galleria, you can either valet or park in the parking garage. If you park in the garage, you'll find the entrance to Prey on the second level diagonally across from the Ninfas. The ambiance gives cute and romantic vibes as it's dimly lit and has music playing in the background so it would make a nice little date night restaurant. The service... Our server was nice but the service was absolute terrible. It took forever to take our orders, forever to get our meals, forever to get the check, it was just unnecessarily SLOW. In my opinion the restaurant was not busy enough to warrant this type of service. Also, our waiter rarely checked on us, never refilled our drinks and never cleared our table of the plates we ate as we finished. Literally our appetizer and entree plates remained in the table during the entire duration of our dinner. The food... Personally, I enjoyed my meal HOWEVER I was the only one out of the party of 8 that I came with that did, so I literally lucked up and I'm glad I did because this pricing of the food is very high end and the establishment/service did not reflect as such. I ordered the crawfish fondue for my appetizer and oxtail and shrimp (surf and turf) for my meal. Both were very good. My brother and cousin ordered empanadas and stuffed shrimp, respectively for their appetizers and both weren't a fan. The empanadas were okay but nothing to rant and rave about. The stuffed shrimp was very fishy as if it just came out if the ocean moments before being served. A couple of people ordered the lobster and pasta and one complained that it was cold and another complained that the lobster was too greasy and the pasta could use more seasoning. Another cousin ordered the lamb chops and she said it wasn't that great, she's had better. We had two desserts, the cheesecake and I believe a chocolate cake and from the bite of cheesecake I had, it just seemed like a frozen dessert from the freezer, nothing gourmet. I will say that everyone was pleased with the taste of their drinks although that was another thing that took forever to come out. Overall, I find it hard to justify the price of the food to the service of the establishment and taste of the food. Again, my personal meal was good but I probably wouldn't order anything else if I ever came back again besides what I got. read more

Now onto the food. I had the catfish and grits. They gave a large portion of grits which were the perfect texture for me. The catfish was crispy and seasoned well. I wish there was a little bit more sauce on top of the grits but overall it was good. It came with a side of eggs but they were cold and didn't really have that much flavor. My friend had the watermelon chicken and waffles which came with a watermelon crème. Glad she got it on the side none of us were a fan. I'm disappointed in this place. I went on a Thursday night. The atmosphere is cute but the seating is too tight. The appetizers came out super fast and hot which lets me know they were pre made. The food was mediocre I didn't even take a picture nor did I finish it. I had the steak which was not freshly cooked my husband had the lamb chops. Everything had flavor but it just wasn't fresh enough for us. The other downside to this establishment is there is an automatic 20% gratuity to any tab over $150 which means your waiter doesn't have to give you any attention or work hard because they're getting a tip regardless. My gf and I dined/drank at the bar---it's one of my fave spots to be, you can have close access to your drinks..and in most cases, your food....and its a great spot to "see" and "be seen"! This place is no different. Inside isnt huge but tasteful. The place serves till 11p I believe--then its lounge time till 2a! The music was bumping and the people were fly. I was so excited to try this place but had a pretty terrible experience from being seated to lackluster food. I absolutely rarely leave bad reviews because I tend to hope maybe a restaurant/establishment is just having an off day, but this experience went beyond an off day. First let me start with the pros because they are so minimal. The decor was nice, the prices for brunch were reasonable and our waiter, Angel, was very polite and apologized for poor service. Cons - We made a 2pm reservation and were sat immediately when we arrived at 1:55pm. The waitress took us to a VERY BACK corner small table that looks like it was added last minute for extra room in the facility. She stated it was the only available table and aggressively told us to "be patient today" Abs quickly walked away. We were less than 3 feet from the kitchen door and photographer station. So there was constant in and out traffic where we were. The photographer was right next to us for about 80% of our meal and there were several arguments between the cook, the waiters and a hostess within the 2 hours we were there. That alone made for the worst and most unpleasant experience. So we're finally seated, it literally took 50 minutes for us to be approached or asked if we had been helped/needed water. We got there at 1:55pm and got our waiter, Angel, at 2:50. We were so over the experience but literally did not have time to go anywhere else for brunch. We ordered everything at once: drinks, food, water. We got our drinks about 20 minutes later. We ordered the Jungle Juice (which is listed wrong on the menu as a Paloma or something) and an Old Fashioned. Both of drinks were disgusting and taste like syrup. The jungle juice just taste like lemonade and blackberry syrup and the old fashion taste like a premade mixture with no liquor added. We did not drink/finish them outside of the initial sip but did not go through the hassle of sending them back. Next the food, which came out about 50 minutes after ordering. I will say the cook himself came out and apologized because he stated they sold more food than they had on hand . So he had to try to remedy by making more and that was the long wait. I had the chicken and waffles. My partner has the oxtails and grits, s side of bacon and a side of eggs. My chicken was seasoned perfectly, but the waffle mixture was awful. It was huge chunks of sugar in the mixture which made it inedible. Again the chicken was cook nicely and seasoned well. The oxtails and grits were EXCELLENT, but the side of bacon was fried so hard we didn't eat it and the eggs taste powdery. I left all my waffles on the table and he left the eggs and bacon. We immediately got our check and left feeling completely let down. We ALWAYS tip, but there was an automatic 20% gratuity added to our bill. We felt the $21 was MORE THAN ENOUGH considering the downright horrible experience we had. So happy my friend suggested trying this place. (Thanks to Instagram). Reservation process was easy for party of 3. Upon arrival, parking lot was open and fairly early (12 noon) so we beat Valet. However, the price does not match the food experience for me. Neither the drinks. Again the drinks are good but not worth those prices. And the bartenders seems so overwhelmed. The last drink I had was sloppy. She missed a key ingredient but caught it before she gave it to me. It was clear so I was able to see other purple drink particles in it. Then when my friend was not pleased with her blueberry martini, another bartender was kind to fix it. But the original bartender was questioning her what was the problem and seeing to take it personal. For those prices I expect to get neat & excellent drinks. A cute restaurant with overpriced, average food. Great for pictures, but dassit. First, this restaurant is located in a strip center. The same with Ninfas, it's on the second story. There is valet parking for $8, a parking garage and self park for free. It was a Friyay night, Valentine's Day weekend. We were able to find free self parking. Took the escalator to the 2nd floor to the restaurant. Checked in with the hostess, it was cold so we was trying to find inside seating, but there was none. The inside was cute and small. But we had reservation for the patio with only 2 heaters. There should have been 3. Our service was ok. The food was EXTREMELY PRICEY for nooooo reason. $18 for 3 small egg rolls. The egg rolls were the same size as the ones you get a Chinese restaurant but smaller. It was very disappointing. Not even filling. Anyways, straight to the main course. The Lobsta Pasta was pretty good. 2 lobsta tails on angel hair pasta. It's $45, is it worth it? No. It was not filling at all. I was still hungry. I have been waiting to try out this restaurant for a while now and finally got the chance to do so with my husband. While the outside entrance was a little underwhelming (door is directly across from patrons on the "patio" seating) once inside the ambiance they promote is sort of there. Seating is limited so I would say this restaurant is best for more intimate parties, however a group of 10 would be comfortable. If you are okay with sitting close to other guests then this is your place to be. The menu is a QR code which is nice and the specialty drinks and liquor choices are good. I tried the Blackberry Lemonade with Cognac and my husband had a whiskey sour with Jameson. Both were delicious. For our appetizer we tried the shrimp and crawfish fondue with homemade chips and I must say it was quite tasty. I also ordered the Filet King. The steak was very juicy however the "scallops" was one scallop and they gave me shrimp instead which was a bummer. The butter poached crab was barely noticeable with the tiny slivers they gave me. This did not take away from the taste of the dish just the description. Service was amazing and Angel made our visit enjoyable with how attentive he was. I did notice they have happy hour from Tuesday-Fridays with drink and appetizer specials which is nice for an after work stop. The food was subpar and overpriced as was the ambience. $20 for 3 oysters the size of my index finger with a bunch of Kraft Parm on top. We got the salmon and the asparagus looked and tasted like it was in it's 3rd life, extremely dry, crunched in your mouth, and chewy. Our waitress was horrible. She kept rolling her eyes at every question, like do the oysters come in fresh daily? Which dish is the most popular? Can I get this drink without the honey in it? Can we get separate checks? She rolled her eyes all night and would walk off mid sentence. Lucky for her 20% gratuity was mandatory for our party of 3 since our meal was over $150. They told us they don't split checks for a table and will only take one card for payment. However, they did us a favor and split the check 3 ways. Cool! Not cool! The waitress comes back after we paid and points out the line where it said add additional tip and asks why we didn't tip her. She said the manager was mad at her and she got in trouble for splitting the check and not getting a tip. She was lucky to get the 20% added gratuity, but the had the audacity to come back to the table to say she needed more. This place won't be around long.
