Turkey meal came with the flat portion of the wing and approximately 4 oz of "jollof" rice. The turkey was tough with sauce on top. The rice tasted scorched. I wanted it removed off my bill. The "chef" came out to ask what I did not like about the food. I told him. He then offered to remake it. I declined. He offered 50% off the $26 meal. I told him I did not want it. I get my bill, it's removed but I was charged a 20% service charge for a party of 3 (2 adults and a child). I do not recommend this restaurant. The macaroni was boiled noodles with cheese on top which was melted from the heat from the noodles or under a broiler in an oven. read more

Craving the Flatbread I just had to come back. I had the pleasure of trying this place for a private event a week ago and the flavors and vibe were so inviting I decided to come back and I'm happy I did. Upon entrance you see beautiful decor and hear the rhythmic sounds of cultural music. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The owner Benjamin was there and he came over to the table and made sure the dining experience was on par. The food came out fast, cooked well and seasoned to perfection. This visit I tried the Suya Flatbread and jerk lo mien. The suya is spicy but that's to be expected. The dough is warm and soft and the peppers were a nice addition. The lo mien I added shrimp and i appreciate that they were a decent size. The jerk for me could have been a tad bit spicier but that's personal preference. Overall the pasta dish was creamy and very flavorful. Those rolls and cajun butter also delightful. Don't let the construction nearby deter you. Give this place a try. I plan to go back and try the brunch menu. They have a decent size space, indoor and outdoor seating options and decent prices. read more

I'm so disappointed as I was anticipating a great time for my fiancé's bday party (party of 20), reservations set in advance. I'll start with the positives-the esthetics is great, great vibe when you walk in and the setting for nice dining is there. Now the negatives (there are many!) Our waiter (mgr. son) came to our tables twirling a toothpick in his mouth, he had a huge afro (which was cool) but cover it when dealing with food. He was very non-chalant and did not take our orders appropriately some here some there. At the end of the evening 8 of us never received our food we were there from 8p until about 11 pm NO FOOD. When asked, the bar tenders blamed the kitchen, the mgr. blamed the owner all in all NO ACCOUNTABILITY. Our drinks even took 20-30 minutes to come ridiculous. Again, this was a bday dinner in which we had a theme guests etc. The party was ruined as my guests left due to not receiving their food. Then to make maters worse, the bar tender accused some of the guests of skipping out on their tap though they were still in the restaurant. I was told the owner did not care to show up and that he listens to his mother instead of his employees. The mgr. Sugar, Special I forget her name was cool in the beginning but later retreated to sit at the bar and smoke hookah instead of attending to the guests. For this restaurant to have a dress code I did not see that enforced the dj had on a grey onesie twerking on the floor, the other dj simple street clothes-this is elevated dining I guess. Oh yea and no one received their tickets-we had to walk up to the bar to get them and then no change for guests who wanted to use cash!!! At the very least I expected drinks to be comped but no. My guests were Nigerian and American-this would of been perfect for future events or just to go out but you now have lost out on 20 individuals that would have left great reviews and referrals. I'm so disappointed-not a sorry just shifted blame. To the owner, if you want this place to thrive look at your staff, and SOPs because want you have now is terrible. read more

Rhay's is a great addition to the neighborhood. It's very unassuming in the drive up as it sits on the side of a plaza but upon entry your met with sophistication. I was to attend an event there that I had marked for the wrong date and after me and the manager Jayda keke'd about my mix up she then offered that I dine with them, in which I'm glad I did. The food was fantastic and the customer service was pleasant. I was not heavily hungry so the few items that I did try were worth my time. The bartender was playing around with some refreshing cocktails and provided me with one. I forgot the name of it but it was nice and refreshing. Right in time for Spring. The Parker Rolls were fresh, soft and delicious. The side of pickles were a nice add. The Jollof rice was great. It was nostalgic and reminded me of red rice in my beloved Gullah city, Charleston The beef tacos were so flavorful. I appreciated the yum yum sauce on the side. I finished them off the next day and they were just as good. They are a brand new establishment & I went on a Wed so it was pretty quiet but people were still coming and going. I can see this as a great after work spot or friends night out and definitely a great place for a date. The firehouse wings are more sticky and sweet than spicy, but they are very good. I like their Jollof rice. I ate them as a meal together. Their fresh strawberry lemonade is on point! My cousin suggested Rhay's restaurant for dinner and I was excited to try out a new Nigerian restaurant in the city. We went on a Tuesday night and for reference, it's located across the street from La Pasha. There was plenty of parking and the interior is very well decorated. There are tables, booth seating and seats at the bar, along with a private dining room for special occasions. We were one of only two tables there but they just recently opened, so we kept that in mind. The menu isn't extensive but we ordered several dishes for the table. I went with the pineapple rice dish with shrimp but instead of jasmine rice, I asked for Jollof and plantain. The rest of my party ordered drinks, which they enjoyed, albeit the serving glass was quite small. Our food came out in about 20 minutes and mine was so delicious but the plantain was not well fried. My sister also said the suya was too tough to bite through so she didn't eat all of hers. When we were done, the owner came out to greet us and actually asked for our feedback. He was kind enough to have the kitchen re-make another order of plantain and suya for us, and even gave us a tour of the restaurant and shared with us some of his upcoming plans for expansion. Shoutout to Yelp HTX! Because they are the ones that introduced me to this place originally back in February. It was one of my favorite Yelp Elite events of 2025! I returned tonight to with the members of the Houston Meet & Eat group for their event. When I arrived, I was greeted by the hostess (I believe this was the co-owner too but I can't remember) who told me where I could sit. I chose to sit at the bar. While I was at the bar, I asked the bartender for a menu. I will give her grace because she was the only bartender and it seemed like she was pretty backed up and overwhelmed. So I waited patiently and about 10 minutes later she asked me to remind her what I needed. After getting the menu, I quickly placed my order for the Stuff Pineapple Bowl with chicken (extra). Since I was able to sample some of their food before, I already knew how good the chicken was. So I was excited to try this bowl! It did not disappoint!!! It came out in a timely manner hot & fresh!! It was full of flavor and not overly seasoned. The pineapples and chicken were both hot and juicy. Made me wanna lick the bowl it was so good! I had the best date night at Rhay's yesterday evening! I loved everything about the restaurant from the decor, the ambiance, service, food and drinks! We were able to walk in without a reservation and seated fairly quickly. Our waitress was very sweet, I wish I remembered her name to shout her out. For our drinks we ordered the smoky old fashion and green goddess (Belvedere, fresh kiwi and lemonade) presented in the cutest glass. Both drinks were tasty and strong! For an appetizer we ordered the suya shrimp tacos which I loved, super flavorful with savory veggies. For the main entree we ordered the catch of the day which was grilled red snapper along with jollof rice. Also super fresh, hot and made to order. I also noticed the fresh bread rolls from other reviews and asked the waitress to order some for us and she happened to walk by with a fresh batch. The bread is indeed delicious and super fresh! You'll see from the videos, it's legit still steamy. It's accompanied by a spiced butter (maybe garlic, pepper mix). The vibe was super cool too, not too full when we went but I've certainly seen how packed it can get later at night. The dj played a good mix of afrobeats, r&b, 90s hip hop so it was pretty cool. All the menu is crafted by the owners wife. Food is from west Africa/nigeria influence. Service was good. Music was loud for an event but solid music that I was checking Shazam. My favorite is the peppery soup and the suya kabob. The kabobs has tons of spices and the soup is nice and peppery with very tender chunks of meats. The rice was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The kids cheeseburger was too well done tho. The fries were great. The corn is great with the drizzle sauce. The Caesar salad had sweet potato chips that were a nice touch. I enjoyed the rasta pasta--it had good flavor overall, though it could have used a bit more salt to really bring everything together. Unfortunately, the experience was brought down by the service. They ran out of food during our visit and left us waiting without any updates. No one came to inform us about the delay, which was frustrating and felt a bit inconsiderate. This was my Mothers Day outing at Rhays. Its been on my list for a minute because I was curious to see what afro-Fusion tast like. We had 730 reservations and pulled up to plenty of parking...FREE PARKING. We were greeted upon entry. They decor is very nice along with some good music. I was worried initially because we were the only patrons in the resturant. It was nice and intimate. Our waitress gave suggestions on food. We ordered the blackberry sidecars. They don't really taste like sidecars..but they are good and strong. We got wings for the appetizer. It was 8 wings and they were good and hot in temperature. The free bread they give you is AMAZING!. It's something about that dough. We ordered the kabobs and they were awesome. They had a crisp to them that I loved and the jollof rice that was served with it. Everything came out smoking and not too long of a wait. As we were leaving more people were coming in so maybe we were just too early.. lol! We plan to go back on a Thursday when they have live music! Support this business. #culture read more

The bartender, Ashley -- the Puerto Rican girl with curly hair -- was such a delight. My friend was in town visiting from Dallas so we could go to the Rema concert. We decided to start the night off with some Nigerian cuisine at Rhays. We had reservations for 6:30. I guess they were closing early for something and asked if we could pretty much order quickly. I started off with some spicy Shrimp as my appetizer. My shrimp was juicy and seasoned to perfect. It had the perfect kick. For my entree I was undecided between the coconut stew and the jerk chicken lo mein. I went with the jerk chicken lo mein. When my food came I was confused It didn't look too appetizing and more like a pesto dish. I skeptically took a bite and was pleasantly pleasantly surprised. It reminded me of a Rasta pasta but with noodles. They were out of plantains which was disappointing because how are you out at a Nigerian restaurant. Overall the food was good. 5 stars Can you believe I didn't get one photo or video during my visit to Rhay's? I always have my phone out, but I was honestly so tired and hungry that I just went straight in and ordered. I stopped by because they were part of Dine Noire's Black Bar and Restaurant Week, and let me tell you, they did not disappoint! I had the jerk lo mein, and whew... I need to go back just for that. Had to bring my family to dine here as I promised the owner I would. I made a reservation just in case it was too crowded to dine. There was a 25.00 reservation fee (added to your bill once you dined). We had a party of 6 and they placed us in the elegant glass seating area. We ordered drinks, appetizers and salads to start. It was not as crowded as expected but the service was a little bit slow. We had 2 kids in our party and their food arrived a while after our food was served which was bad because our food was a little too spicy to share with them. Also the kids menu said veggies but we were served fries with both. Once bill was paid I realized they never applied the 25.00 to the bill so I called on Tuesday because they are closed on Mondays, I was transferred to the manager and was informed he would look into the refund and call me back momentarily we to date I'm still waiting. That really puts a bad taste in my mouth because your word is bond. I will probably revisit but with no reservation. That makes bad business because the food was amazingly delicious the second time around. 8/10 read more

Came here for dinner with my friends. The interior was amazing and very cosy. Half the items on their menu were out of stock which was confusing as the menu was limited. I arrived right before they took the cocktail order. For drinks I ordered the prickly pear margarita that was absolutely delicious. Our server seemed to have an attitude and was getting visibly irritated when someone on my table asked for more dinner rolls. The table decided to go straight to the main course. Since I had eaten earlier, I opted for the akara salad. We were a total of 6 girls present and 4 dishes came out after about 45 mins (we all ordered at the same time). Then 1 more dish came out after an hour wait and my order which was a salad came out when everyone was done eating. Since I wasn't hungry, I wasn't hangry but it was irritating that a salad took that long. They brought my salad with no comments on the wait time, nothing. However, the bill came a lot higher than expected with a 20% service fee that does not include tipping the waitress (confirmed with staff). This place is a hidden gem! I stopped by Rhay's for Martini Wednesday! And they did not disappoint! Everything was so good. I got $5 lamb chops and they were so delicious. I also got an expresso martini this was a 10 out of 10! The restaurant itself looks so beautiful and inviting. I'm going to come back for brunch because this place is definitely a spot I will go to often. Oh did I mention they have live music on Thursdays. It tasted very bland and for this to be a Nigerian restaurant, it tasted like very unseasoned American food!!!! I got the stuffed pineapple bowl with shrimp and beef Suya and the beef was the only thing making that ball taste good or even have like it taste . The only thing good on the menu that I would recommend is their lamb chops, broccolini and the jollof rice. FYI don't order their berry sidecar from here cause you're gonna get a little tiny bowl that's worth $17, really a waste of money. But usually a sidecar comes in a martini glass.
