They paired it with a creamy sauce and it just made it that much better. The oxtail platter was amazing as well. The oxtails were full of flavor and just falling off the bone. The sauce that covered them was very juicy and flavors were great. The one thing I will tell you to stay away from is the Mac and cheese. They tasted bad. Overall though great service and great food. Prey is located on San Felipe upstairs over Ninfa's. First you have two parking options: Valet, which is $8 or $20? Abd public parking garage toward the rear of the restaurant. There is an escalator to take you upstairs to the restaurant. When you exit make a u turn and it will bring you to the patio which will lead you to the check in desk. Inside is an upscale seating and a bar area. The food has been very good the two times I visited and the service has been superb. The prices are upscale also. Been wanting to try this establishment since seeing it on Instagram so I planned a girls night out to check it out. Parking is few but they have valet and apparently a garage close by. I opted for valet and had reservations set for 8pm. There was a wait, even with reservations but it wasn't too bad of a wait. There's outdoor seating as well as indoor and we opted for the indoor seating. The place is small but accommodating and our waiter was very attentive. I wish I could give Prey 2.5 stars but perhaps I'll update this to 3 stars by the time I get to the end of this review. The food was good after doctoring it up but without the Acadian sauce the catfish & grits is very dry. Luckily the sauce is only an additional $3. Additionally, there weren't any options for my low glycemic diet. The dinner menu has some options but unfortunately you can only order from the brunch menu during their brunch hours and their brunch menu is all fried foods, bread/carbs, sweets and meats. Zero veggie options. Zero unsweet drinks other than water. Not even unsweet tea sadly. The service was a bit lackluster as well and also kinda slow. The waitress seemed annoyed with me for attempting to order from the dinner menu which fit my diet better. I should add this is a medical diet for me, not just a fad thing I'm doing. I was also disappointed when I let her know I had lost my sunglasses and she had zero concern. She seemed to act like she went to the back to inform her manager and I had to flag her down to find out what the manager advised her. Apparently the manager said no. Never saw her talk to one tho nor did the manager come out to speak with me. Luckily I asked the hostess about my sunglasses as I was walking out and fortunately she had them and was super polite as she handed them to me. I give her a separate 5 stars. Way to go hostess! This is a really cute spot Black Owned Spot! I loved the cozy ambiance. I ordered a Peach Margarita and it came with Tajin on the rim. It tasted like Peach Ciroc to me more than a margarita. For dinner I ordered the Oxtails Surf and Turf (came with Shrimp) $45 (it comes on top of cooked cabbage). The cabbage was EXTREMELY greasy. The oxtails were tender but you can't be cute eating this, you have to pick it up with your fingers. I added a side of mashed potatoes ($15 yikes). The mash was regular. My photos came out blurry unfortunately. For dessert, I ordered the brownie with vanilla ice, very safe. Super cute little restaurant on the top floor in a shopping plaza. The menu seems to be Creole inspired. My sis and I went for brunch and ordered the chicken and beignets, the fish and grits, which came with a side of eggs, a lemon drop flight, and a blueberry marg. Our server Kyla was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, with honest suggestions. She also reigned the DJ in for us when he started playing old school lol. My sis liked the chicken, but was disappointed by the less than authentic taste of the beignets. They were good, just not what she was hoping for. The catfish entree was a lot of bang for your buck, but too fishy for me, and I didn't like that the fried fish was sitting on the grits which were swimming in too much gravy. If you get a chance to visit Prey. . .GO! I truly enjoyed my experience and I can't wait to get back! First of all...the pound cake French Toast was absolutely amazing! I've never had anything like it. I also had one of the drinks called Post Oak...Yes! yes and yes!!! It was fruity and flavorful with just the right amount of alcohol. My cousin and I usually like to check out the new brunch spots and since this location popped up on her newsfeed, she was excited to see if the food was as good as it looked. I'm here to tell you that it did not disappoint. I Was celebrating my Birthday Brunch at Prey on Sunday, we were immediately greeted by the hostesses and manager upon entering with our reservation, and were promptly seated for our table of 6. Very delicious, but I do not think the dine in experience is worth the hype. Drinks took long to come out and were watery. The place is very small and we had awkward seating. Not worth fine dining prices with an 18% service fee. My party and I had to wait 40 mins to be seated after we made a reservation. Just think this place has potential, but is overrated nonetheless. We went on a Wednesday for date night. They have a special on Wednesdays that includes a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine but neither one of us are wine drinkers so we passed. Jay (spell check) was our server and she was very attentive and took good care of us. We started with the crawfish fondue which was really good. Finally! Black owned upscale cajun in a beautiful location. Congrats to the new kid on the block in the Black Owned Houston community. We visited during the soft opening (grand opening is Oct 29, 2021). I'll save you the long read and include your need to know info in bullet point form (bc it's the efficiency for me sis): *Make a reservation before day of. I made this mistake...attempted to correct it by calling the restaurant. After 3 failed attempts calling, I had to physically go to the restaurant to alter the reservation time. Don't be like me, they have limited availability, plan ahead. *The GM Karl is fantastic. The chef is the owner. Our waitress Kaylnn knew her menu and made excellent recommendations (you can ask for a specific waitress) *Shareable sides are to be purchased separately (they serve 2-4 people) & as of now there are no salads. The only green thing I could find on the menu was brussel sprouts so expect to indulge. *You do not need to valet. There is free retail parking if you turn at the light by Ninfas. The 2nd floor will take you right to the restaurant if you follow the signs for Sozo *The food is fantastic, rich and flavorful. Staff wasnt rude but they're either understaffed or unorganized. When we were done with our entress the waitress said "I'll remove these plates and bring the check"....ummm.... what if we weren't finish and wanted dessert? I've heard good things about this restaurant via social media so I decided to give it a try. The hostess was not very welcoming when I walked in, saying, "Stand over there to the side while I see if there is a table for you." I decided to sit at the bar instead. The service at the bar was really nice and the bartenders were both very attentive. I ordered the blueberry sidecar ($20) which had a good flavor. They were out of cocktail napkins and the condensation from the drinks was all over the counter, even rolling off the lip onto my friend's pants. It's standard to give bar patrons water first. -Pricing--1/10 This is where I think Prey gets it wrong. *20% gratuity added to all checks ( We were there during dinner service.) and when you get poor service this feels so unjustified. Mind you we eventually went to Moxie's to eat and have another drink, and they charge the same, but the bartender was attentive, and paying for good service isn't a problem. *In the Galleria area, I expect to pay around $20-24 for a sidecar made with Dusse, which is what they essentially charge, but on the receipt the drinks aren't priced as a whole; they show the price of the liquor and a separate price for the mixers. No one wants to know they're being charged $5 for .5oz of lemon juice and .25oz of agave or $5 for a shot of club soda. This may make sense for bookkeeping, but it's off-putting to patrons. I'd advise against displaying prices this way. A woman dining at a table with my cousin was charged $2.50 for ice. Meanwhile, I watched the bartenders waste at least $20 worth of ice (based on THEIR pricing) on the floor and break a large bottle of liquor. -Valet--No rating; it's a joke as usual. Pay $8 to park your car "in the back" or $20 to park it up front. The three of us individually chose to park in the back, but we all drive luxury cars so when we came out all three cars were parked right in the front parking lot. So if you have a nice car, save yourself $12 bc they'll put you out front anyway. Be advised, if you pay by card, you will pay a $1 convenience fee and the app to call up your car before you leave the restaurant is disabled even though they give you a card with a QR to do so. read more

Extremely pathetic service for all the supposed hype. Went for dinner, waited 10 minutes at the entrance with the restaurant being barely occupied, without any eye contact from any staff, let alone being seated. Left without any staff interaction. read more
