    HRW 2013 Lamb Meatballs with Tzaziki sauce

    My wife and I went here for HRW 2013. The menu they had sounded fantastic and we both knew we would regret not going here if we didn't give it a try. It feels weird walking into a school knowing you are going there for a nice meal. The decor is very minimal and nothing fancy at all. We were greeted at the hostess stand and shown to our table. There are only about 20 tables at most in the place. Our waitress we had was not good at all. She didn't ask us for our drinks, took forever to take our food order and just was really bad through the whole dinner service. I know these are students and they are learning, but she needs a whole lot of work still. The food was better than the service at least, well some dishes were anyway. The amuse bouche was not very good and I would skip it next time. The bread they bring out is pretty good though and we were hungry so it went down well. 1st course was the lamb meatballs and the pork belly. The lamb meatballs were very good and one of the best things from the meal. They were very tender and had nice flavor. The tzaziki sauce went well with the meatballs. The pork belly was cooked well and had good texture and flavor. The langostine it was served with was delicious. It was nice and tender and not overcooked. 2nd course was the grilled pineapple and quail salad for us both. This one was a fail all the way around. Do not get this if you see it on the menu. For entree, we had the veal osso bucco and the ribeye. The entree portions were huge and my wife could not finish hers. The veal was melt in your mouth tender and had great flavor. The ribeye was a little tough, but had a good taste. It was served with french fries and grilled asparagus. The veal was the better of the two dishes. For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding and my wife had the homemade vanilla bean ice cream with toasted lemon pound cake. The sticky toffee pudding was extremely sweet. Very rich and heavy. The ice cream and pound cake was a lot lighter and a nice ending to the meal. I am glad we came and gave this place a try. About 1/2 of the dishes we tried were good the other 1/2 not so much. I probably will not return.

    Ok, granted this is a culinary cooking restaurant. However, I figured for students who are about to graduate , the food could have been much better. Don't get me wrong......... SOME of the courses were good...but not "over-the-moon". First things first. This meal is 6 courses...YEP..that's right, SIX ! The Appetizers :: We had fried calamari , as their black mussels were not up to par to serve..so only fried calamari was served. ( no problem ) However, the batter was falling off, and looked as though they were fried with corn meal. They were *meh*. The Soup:: We had Pasta Fagioli.. basically penne pasta with italian sausage meatballs with cannelloni beans in a tomato broth. VERY tasty ! The Salad :: Mixed greens with red and yellow cherry tomatoes, walnuts, and feta cheese served inside a red cabbage leaf..and dressed with a creamy vinaigrette. YUM ! The Pasta :: Langostino with linguini, served with herbs and parmesan cheese. They serve the pasta with langostino meat already incorporated and also with one whole langostino aside the pasta. Nice looking presentation. The pasta was ok.. not great , but not bad either. The Intermezzo :: ( palette cleanser ) Raspberry sorbet with orange liquer. Nice. The Entree :: ARE YOU FULL YET ?!......... I am ! LOL The Entree :: Husband had Veal with gnocchi in a brown gravy. It tasted very much like "Beef stew ". It tasted good, though. I had the seared Tuna Steak served over a mashed butternut squash. The tuna steak had chimichurri on top which I loved. The steak was seasoned well, but it was so heavy.I ate a few bites of it and was done, but I finished the squash. and finalllllllllllyyyyy The Dessert :: Tiramisu *sigh* Not only was it not good looking, but it didn't taste worth a thing ! The lady fingers were drenched so heavily in brandy, that they were mushy . I found a piece of the second cookie that wasn't loaded with brandy and it was crunchy...but overall, the dessert was not good ,,AT ALL ! All in all, I can't complain... We had a 6 course meal for only $35.00 per person..so $70. bucks for the husband and I , and we were beyond FULL ! I would go back..and I would recoommend this spot to others. Each week is a different menu, so why not ! I will get a chance to try all kinds of culinary cuisines for not a lot of money.

    Well, I wasn't expecting perfection because I knew these were students that were learning, but some of the food was inedible. Luckily we didn't pay much for our meal, thanks to Groupon. The FOOD: - Bread and Butter: The butter was so salty that you could feel the salt granules in between your teeth. I took one bite and literally, could not eat another crumble. Rating: 1 - French Onion Soup: Pretty good, very flavorful and hearty. Rating: 4 - Haricot Vert Salad: You could tell this was pre-made, sitting in the refrigerator, served on a cold plate. Not very good. Rating: 2 - Coquille St. Jacque: Not sure if it was the preparation or the quality of the scallops, but they were watery and fishy. I couldn't eat more than one bite. Rating: 1 - Salpion of Wild Mushrooms: This was pretty good! Rating: 4 - Lemon-Lime Sorbet: this tasted like an Italian Ice. It was ok, just too lemony for me: Rating: 3 - Duck a la Orange: This was by far the thing I was most impressed with. Usually duck can be very dry or very gamey. This was nether. Kudos to the chefs on this one. - Vanilla Bean Éclair: No. This was very dry and the cream was not tasty. Rating: 1 - Cream the Dream: This was way better than the Éclair, but still not top notch. Rating: 3 The SERVICE: The wait staff was very friendly, but not well versed in table service. Our table was set for 4 and with only 2 of us there, I was expecting the other 2 table settings to have been removed. They were not. Also, we had to ask for refills on water a lot. The ATMOSPHERE. The atmosphere was very cold and not too welcoming. Some of the plates were dirty as well. OVERALL: We probably won't try this experiment again. Dry and bitter, nothing like the saucy, flavorful version I've had before--maybe just the late hour catching up with the kitchen. But even so, that pork chop... it lingered in the best way. And sometimes, that's all you need.

He ended up being one of the best aspects of our experience that evening. Our waitress wasn't nearly as good. We started by asking for ice in the water from the waitress since they just give you room temp water. After 10 mins of seeing her serve other tables and ignoring our request, we then figured the water boy would make it happen...and sure enough he did. We then ordered the grilled oysters, which are very lightly cooked, almost seemingly steamed more than anything, but they were very good regardless of the cooking method with the sauces and garnishes and pickle juice added. Next up was ordering the entrees. The menu here is a little strange with numerous vegan choices with strange titles and only a few items with protein. To top it off, there are not many choices period. The waitress explained that the left side is basically the apps, and the right side is basically the entrees. I knew I wanted to try the wagyu flat iron steak which is priced pretty high here, compared to other wagyu flat irons I've had at other restaurants across the US. We couldn't really decide on a 2nd main dish then the waitress mentioned the off the menu special which was a scallop pasta so we picked that thinking it sounded delicious. The entrees come out about 15 mins later, and we take our first bites and we both thought, oh no, if we share the other person across from me isn't going to like this dish because it's too salty. I tried the steak first and noticed the sauce being extra salty, then I tried the pasta and the pasta was way worse, but the scallops didn't seem to be affected. We immediately told the waitress the next time she stopped by....and she just said okay, and walked away. I figured she would go get the manager....but nope...she just kept on serving other tables. At this point we thought to ourselves only the oyster app was decent.....and no reason to look at the dessert menu since we had already spent over $100 on food we could hardly eat. Sure enough, the waitress stops by a 2nd time and asks if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I couldn't leave fast enough and told her we'll skip. Needless to say we both left hungry as the portions were not only not edible, but also fairly small. The water boy also stopped by and offered to turn on the heater if we get cold. Boy, I wish he was our waiter instead. For a supposedly Michelin-starred restaurant, I feel they really got this one wrong.

I also added some of their house-made habanero curry hot sauce, which is absolutely delicious. I'll definitely have to try a few other dishes next time! Their coffees are also great, with unique flavors for their lattes like spiced guava and molasses. Both of these were super tasty, hot and iced! Ultimately 93' Til is staying on my brunch list as a top tier choice, I can't wait to come back!

Mark Sayre - the restaurant groups beverage director hosted the charity dinner for my wife and I and 4 other guests. We were served 9 courses family style including a couple of cold plates, a couple of salads, a couple of pastas and a couple of entrees along with a dessert. Everything was fantastic and Mark did a great job of hosting and explaining the wine pairings. The best of the apps was the Sicilian Tar tar. Tuna, scallop and salmon perfectly marinated on crostinis. The Hearts of Palm Salad was excellent, and they are definitely sharable, probably made for 3 - 4 guests to share. Of the two pastas the Cresta De Gallo stood out the most, but the Bolognese was also virtually perfect. Of the two entrees we enjoyed the Chicken Piccata slightly more than the Hanger Steak. On our second visit, Ryan was our server. He had been our server at Underbelly, One Fifth and Georgia James in the past and remembered us immediately and was a wonderful host for the meal. This time the table enjoyed the Chargrilled Oysters and the Parsley Salad to start. We also sampled 4 pastas - The Cresta De Gallo again, the Chitarra with Scallops and Uni, the Lumache with Vodka Sauce and the Sourdough Tagliatelle. All were fantastic. My personal favorite was the Chitarra. In the end we finished off all 4 so no leftovers. We then shared the Chicken Piccata as our only entree. This dish is so good. Juicy Chicken, flavorful sauce, and the Sourdough Tagliatelle was the perfect accompaniment. We also enjoyed two desserts - The Budino (which is more like a chocolate tort than a pudding) and the Tiramisu. Both wonderful. If Milton's wasn't over an hour from our house, it would become a regular on the rotation. But it is definitely good enough to warrant many return visits.

The mango was a nice plate cleanser in between bites. The ambience was really nice , definitely upscale compared to their Travis's Carr location and something that you should dress up for. This is good for a nice formal celebration dinner or date dates. Or fancy Bestie night. There is complementary valet at the front. They have a sign that says do not park across the street.

They share a lot with another popular dining spot so parking can be a little difficult in their lot. You can find street parking or park across the street in an overflow lot. I wanted the most tropical drink I could find on the menu so I started off with the Blue Hawaiian. I saw fire on the description so my extra self needed to have it. I'm a big rum guy so this drink was right up my alley and very boozy with two types of rum. It was very coconut forward with pineapple being the secondary flavor. One was enough for me to feel just right. Since we had just ate, we decided to share the World Famous Cheeseburger. This was a great burger. I don't know if they were going for the smash effect, but it had smash burger characteristics. It had all my favorite things that are musts on a burger like American cheese and red onions. It also had a very nice chili aioli that added great flavor to the burger. I came on another stop for a drink visit shortly after and tried the pork dumplings and popcorn chicken. These were also very good. If I lived in the area, this place would easily be a place I would frequent often. I will most definitely be back!

Fries were delicious and addicting too! Classic blackened redfish was ok; nothing special. Le Entrecôte (steak frites) was also ok; some steak pieces were hard to chew. Was NOT a fan of the lobster fettuccine. Surprisingly bland and barely any lobster meat for the cost of that dish. Ended the night with dessert. Basque cheesecake tasted great! Banana foster was pretty good. Grab a cookie on the way out of the restaurant! Don't see myself coming back here for dinner, but I'm open to trying their brunch menu.
