Met some friends of this restaurant for brunch. First time I've been here since they open. I really liked the inside of this restaurant it was really cool the way they had to decorated. Maybe a little bit on the loud side but not terrible. Service was super friendly and efficient. The menu had a nice selection on it. Definitely would go back but I think I would sit outside next time. I thought the prices were reasonable and the quality the food was very good.

This place has a very unique, marble white look, with all of the delicious looking pastries right by the front to draw you in. The food was good, but the Prep Sausage Sandwich definitely tasted a bit off, although with the high quality ingredients I could tell it was very healthy compared to better tasting breakfast sandwiches. We got a seat at the bar to avoid the long wait time, and the service was incredibly fast, both to take our order and to get the food out quickly.

We were in Gilbert exploring and we came upon this quaint little brunch spot! We like to try different places - so, we gave it a go!! The service was super- friendly and made suggestions. We went with the biscuits and gravy (which we shared)- it wasn't what we were expecting. The biscuits themselves were a bit dry/kinda stale. I was really thrown by the gravy- it was super rich and I didn't really care for the flavor profile. I know the gal said they use some duck fat for the gravy. Perhaps that was it- I checked with my husband for his input...he wasn't a fan either! Oh well, you explore and sometimes it's not great, but perhaps we just chose the wrong thing....

Smoked salmon hash

What a cute place!! We love the original in Tucson, and this location did not disappoint! Such great service- multiple servers and food runners- very fast and very kind! I got the smoked salmon hash and it was so good- creamy sauce, crispy potatoes, sweet and savory veggies, delicious salmon. A perfect bite every time! The pumpkin spice latte was great! Not too sweet except the whip on top- I would take that off next time.

Monte Cristo

Fantastic new little breakfast spot! Our server Haley was excellent and super helpful in understanding the coffee menu! I had the Cinnamon date cortado which was toasty and delicious. The food came out in literally 3 minutes. I don't know how they did it! The potatoes were the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. Seasoned perfectly, nice crispy bits on the top and soft creamy interior. We had the southwest croissant same and the monte cristo. The chorizo was rich and flavorful with out being overly fatty. That bread in Monte cristo was fluffy and decadent, but be warned it is heavy! Even the server that cashed us out and bussed our table was amazing! 10/10 experience !

I love Prep and Pastry a brunch! I can't put into words how excited I was to hear that Prep and Pastry was opening a location in downtown Gilbert. I visited within the first couple of months of them opening with a friend and loved it and have been back a handful of times since then! P&P is my go-to for a brunch especially in the downtown Gilbert area. The space is big and well-lit, and they offer plenty of seating indoor, outdoor, and at the bar. I've tried a variety of pastries and a few entrees. My favorite entree is the smoked salmon hash. It comes with smoked salmon, roasted vegetables, potatoes, over easy egg, creamy horseradish, and everything seasoning. So flavorful and filling without making you feel heavy. All of the pastries are divine. My favorite so far is the "prep-tart" which is their take on the poptart. The coffee is solid. The service has been outstanding on every visit. The staff is friendly, attentive, and prompt. I highly recommend utilizing their Yelp Waitlist feature on weekends as they tend to get pretty busy.

Had a wonderful brunch catch-up with a girlfriend at Prep & Pastry! We were seated right away thanks to putting our names on the waitlist. First time trying this spot and it didn't disappoint - the food was delicious and the staff were super friendly. Loved the raspberry white chocolate coffee and enjoying it on the patio on a beautiful day was the perfect touch. Can't wait to come back and try more menu items!

I love this place!! The poblano Beni was so so good! I love that it was on biscuit. The rose latte is my absolute favorite. The employees are so friendly and attentive and I love the open space. My daughter thought the restroom was "so beautiful" lol

Prep and Pastry has quickly become my go-to spot for brunch in Gilbert! Their potatoes alone keep me coming back! Love their coffee specials and pastry selections too. I can never go there without getting a pastry, but I always have a hard time picking one because they all look so good. My favorites have been their dossants (croissant donuts) and pop tarts!

1/2 Classic
Russell A.

I ordered the 1/2 French and 1/2 omelette. It was soooo good and in terms of price, it was a good deal! I think the portions are just right. The foot was tasty, and for me, the toast wasn't too heavy. The servers were fast, efficient, and super friendly. I came with a big group, and we were able to get our food pretty quickly and paying the tab wasn't complicated at all. The inside is very cute too! I recommend trying this place!

The Monte Cristo sammie might be the BEST in the East Valley! Imagine beautifully sweet brioche with the tastiest ham and cheese! Yummm! Patio is charming and staff is friendly with great recommendations! We will be back. Oh and don't sleep on the pastries!

More blueberry earl grey scones the size of my hand ....quite scrumptious
Regina W.

Right now I have an obsession with the earl gray scones! It's just so fluffy and perfect with my tea. So many tempting pastries to buy. But the pastry section is definitely something to look forward to after a nice hearty duck confit breakfast and coffee. Some tasty items on the menu I've had in the past and more to try in the future. I like the natural sunlight coming in. Makes breakfast more enjoyable. And what's not to love about the service too!

If you establish a presence here, they will take care of you. Consistency is another major selling point. Go here 10 times, and your food is going to be on point about 9.5 of those times. Those are pretty good odds. They have just recently started a soft launch of their fall/winter menu, which means they are experimenting with a few new dishes while bringing back some old favorites. One of those returning favorites is the crispy cauliflower. Last time around, it was fantastic. This time, while still tasty, it had apparently filed a formal complaint against the word "crispy" because there was very little evidence to support the claim. Even the bartender agreed with me that it was somewhat misrepresented. Tip: Get the sauce on the side. It will help preserve what level of crisp that is intended for this dish. Now, let us move on to the star of the evening. The new chicken parmigiana! Holy mother of God. Butter my butt and call me a biscuit. This may genuinely be one of the most beautiful, perfectly textured, and downright delicious chicken parmigianas I have ever had. The chicken was crisped to absolute perfection, and the way they layered the marinara on top was brilliant. Rather than drowning the chicken in a traditional, liquidy sauce, they used more of a bruschetta-style topping, which gave it texture while somehow allowing the breading to remain gloriously crispy. Hands down, one of the best chicken parmigianas I have ever had. Now we just need to pray to whatever culinary deity is responsible for consistency that they can replicate this thing every time, because this one was ridiculously good. One final recommendation: split the dish.Unless you are the kind of person who considers a family-size portion a light snack, there is plenty of food here for two.

But, my wife had fries that I could steal and I appreciate having a salad option. The little side salad had a nice bitterness complemented by the slight sourness of the dressing. The meat was flavorful and sliced perfectly while the bread was toasty enough to stay together long enough to hold in all that juiciness. Our server was attentive and friendly and I'll happily go back to try some menu staples ... unless the next special demands my attention like that Reuben did.

What a huge disappointment this place was. I suppose I should know better than to get Italian food…read morefrom a place called Dave's. I mean that's like expecting authentic Mexican food from a place called Steve's Taco Truck. When you walk in the first thing you will notice is the contemporary look. It feels more like a college cafeteria than an Italian restaurant; warm but devoid of any personality aside from the huge 'Welcome To Gilbert' mural on the wall. They do have a well stocked bar, but when we arrived at 12:30 every table was vacant save one. Despite the great reviews this should have been our second warning. I did see in the Yelp photo's that the garlic bread was captioned as terrible, but my daughter wanted to try it so we gave it a shot. One bite and she was like "Nope". It had the thinnest layer on cheese on top and was super dense and unyielding. Moving on to the spaghetti and meatballs. My Munchkin immediate identified the meatballs as Sysco or some similar food service fare. The sauce was okay but not fresh by any measurable degree. I had the thinnest Chicken Parm ever, covered in sauce and mozzarella cheese which couldn't disguise the blandness of the chicken no matter hard it tried. Nothing about the food said fresh ingredients. We both ate about four bites and decided we were done and would head over to Oregano's. To be fair, the waitress (no personality) did take the garlic bread off the bill, but when I asked for the bill and said we didn't want to go containers for the full plates of food didn't even bat an eye like she expected as much. This place lured us in with good reviews and how busy it looks on the weekends. If our experience is any indication I give it six months tops before going under unless they do a complete overhaul from the top down.

We ordered 3 of the Steamed Buns: Pork Belly, Hot Chicken, and the Bun of the Moment, which happened to be Drunken Shrimp, I believe. Lol I forgot what drink my friend ordered, but I had no shame and had the Pornstar Martini, yessir!!! It was quite comical when our server mentioned that most people are embarrassed to order it because of its name, but I proudly said it loud and clear! That drink was perfect for brunch/lunch! Overall it was a great visit, minus the twitching fly that was on our table after we were seated. We didn't know if it was half dead or what, but my friend just swiped it across the table until it fell off. I'm not sure they have any control over flies coming into the restaurant as people enter and exit, but it was off putting to have to shoo them away while you're having a meal and trying to converse. Other than that fly issue, the visit was solid. Prices aren't bad and there's a big parking lot outside the establishment as well as a public parking garage not far away. I highly recommend Clever Koi if you've never been!
