They were not the least expensive and not the most expensive, but I am so glad I went with Precision air. The job was finished to perfection and we now have heating and cooling in an old 70's condo. We needed central AC in our 50-year-old house in Carlsbad before the summer heat arrived, and we'd never had central AC in any of our earlier homes. We looked through Yelp reviews and picked out three firms that seemed like good choices. Precision Air was at the top for responsiveness, and they didn't mind explaining air conditioning systems to us as many times as it took. Their quoted price seemed high but further investigation showed possible problems with the other firms--one hadn't been around very long and was far away in San Diego, and the other had quoted prices for white-label components instead of brand-name. We finally decided to go with Precision Air because of their responsiveness and hand-holding in the process, and because of the expected reliability of the final system; they were even willing to reduce their quoted price a little bit when we showed them the other quotes. Then... the rest of the process went very well. We scheduled the installation the next week, it took just three days, and the crews were very easy to work with and cleaned up after themselves pretty much perfectly. (They'd warned us that replacing the old heating vents might leave some marks from dirt that had been trapped up there for 50 years, and they were right, but this seemed unavoidable. We'll have to repaint a little in one room.) So... our AC is now in, looking good and and working well in tests, and we're ready for (almost) anything the summer might throw at us! It's too late now to make a long story short, but we recommend Precision Air. (Oh, and BTW, if you tell Yelp you're looking to install AC, they might send your information to a dozen other random HVAC firms too, who will clamor and clamor and clamor for your attention. They were very professional and efficient. The area was prepared with care and awareness to avoid any inconvenience to us with minimal disruption. I found Eric Johnson to be a straight shooter that helps you decide what is best for your NEEDS and that was refreshing since the other estimates I received felt like they were selling me glossier versions simply to line their wallets. When Precision came in $2,000 less (!) than the next closest it made the decision very easy. We installed a new AC and furnace to replace our original issue that was 30+ years old. It also came with a slick WIFI Honeywell smart thermostat and has been great so far. Install was very efficient and Alberto knows his stuff. Called to speak with sales person about having a new hvac system installed in our home. Disappointing that no salesperson could not speak with me for five business days. Reluctantly I agreed to make an appointment for a call back because this company is highly rated and nearby. Today at 9 AM I was my appointment time. It is now 1:30 PM on the appointed day. My AC had been acting up and this is the third time they have been at my house. The first time I called was about loss of power to my upstairs Nest thermostat. Steve of Precision air was easily able to diagnose the problem and was out the next week with parts to make a permanent repair. Haven't had any issues with the repair whatsoever. The third time I called was this morning when I had a bleach like odor coming from the a/c vent. Steve came back and checked all the ducts and vents for any leaks and verified that that unit was functioning properly. He assured us that our unit was not dangerous to our health when we were worried sick! All in all, Precision air is a great company and will be my go to when servicing or repairing my AC units. Steve is extremely professional and usually can come on very short notice (same day). Within minutes, he has the problem diagnosed and usually if he has the parts he needs to fix, will have the AC up and running again within the hour. They could use a better email system when communicating - it often communicates different and incorrect info than their dispatch communicates, which is confusing to the customer. What a fantastic experience from booking the appointment, the prompt service call and the technician who went out of his way to fix our 20 year old heater. He was neat and tidy and fixed two holes which were preventing heat flow to two rooms. He educated me and replacing filters and how the flow of our heater worked. I had an issue with a 30 year old furnace not starting, and was not ready to purchase a new furnace yet. Arturo from Precision Air showed to the appointment promptly at 8am and did some troubleshooting for the first 30 min. After diagnosing the issue as a faulty voltage absorption system, he had the part in his van and was able to replace it.
