Beer was about the only thing good.

I stopped in after driving past this location for years. I chose to sit at the bar, expecting better service, but I was completely mistaken. The place has an old-style interior, and even though the 6 PM crowd was small, the bar server was nowhere to be found. A staff member handling phone orders ended up taking my order. When my food finally came out, it was handed to me in a takeout bag--and that's when I was told that the area I was seated in was for takeout only. It would've been helpful to know that before they let me order. I was then directed to the other bar area, where I received zero service until I was already finishing my meal. Only then did someone ask how everything was. The food itself was good, but having to eat it out of a Styrofoam box instead of a plate really took away from the experience. No salt, no pepper, no butter--no service at all. This visit was such a disappointment that I won't be returning. If you plan to sit at the bar, make sure you're seated in the correct area, because no one here will tell you. Unfortunately, this was the worst dining experience I've had at this restaurant.

After a day of thrifting we were hungry & thirsty. Great HH 2-7 let the #Tiki triathlon continue, dine, drink, shop, tiki hubby and I shared catfish shrimp okra & a side salad. 2 catfish filets in a crispy cornmeal coating and 4 large butterflied shrimp in a crisp very light coating. Not one bad bite and we still took home leftovers, even with sharing. And enjoyed a$6.00 Old Fashioned. Food was good hot and fresh. The place is decorated in a western motif with lots of deer heads watching while you enjoy your meal. Great service by Azra. Will come back again.

Solid place with anold west vibe. CFS is ama, ing. Tender and flavorful. Gravy is smooth and peppery. Server was cute and on point. Definitely will be back.

Well let me just say... Texas did NOT disappoint Prairie House is the real deal -- top-tier food, fantastic service, and an atmosphere that just feels right. The music was on point, the vibe was perfect, and honey... that fried okra and Cowboy Beans? YEEESSS. The steaks OMG!!!! I came in with my service dog (who behaved better than most humans ). She sat quietly right by my side like the well-behaved lady she is. Now that's how you run a Texas establishment. A+++++ from this very happy girl

We have tried food here twice and continue to be disappointed. It is too salty and doesn't seem like it is freshly made. It felt like frozen food which had been reheated. It was edible but not memorable. The atmosphere is very dark

This is a very well decorated rustic bbq place. The brisket was almost dry but the smoke flavor was great! Potato salad very creamy and delicious. Coleslaw was nice and cold and just amount of flavoring. The beans were great! Finished with the peach cobbler. It was room temperature served with cold ice cream so you didn't get the full effect of the cobbler. Super sweet. Will have to come back and try the breakfast.

It was supposed to be onion strings. They looked more like fried shrimp

My steak was delicious and the Service was good, although we did have to request water refills and we were never asked about drink refills. The huge disappointment was the onion strings. See the picture. But only were they not strings they were not crispy or very flavorful. I will not order them again.

We wanted something that is local to the area and prairie house was recommended. The restaurant is typical rustic dining with older tools and signs on the walls. Outside has a selection of old tractors and farm equipment. We had grilled pork chops with cowboy beans and cole slaw and cowboy quesadiilla. Our drinks were a classic margaritas and a Texas Bluebonnet. We enjoyed everything. The margaritas were very well made. We had peach cobbler for dessert. The service was great. Our server answered our questions about the menu and offered suggestions.

I will say we atleast liked the atmosphere and ambiance better at 1845 than we did at Rustico. But it was more of the same- incredibly overpriced BLAND food. Not at all worth the price you're paying, severely lacking in flavor, and takes waaaaay Too long to be delivered to your table after ordering. We started with the Texas Trio and we did enjoy that. It is kind of hard to mess up queso, salsa and pimento cheese- however we did say that was one thing we would eat again and was worth its value. My husband and other son bothe ordered cheeseburgers at $22 a pop and both said the burger they get at local pint was a million times better and a lil cheaper. I got the smothered chicken and It was very disappointing! The chicken was so bland it was like a notch above school cafeteria food (seriously) I swapped the rice for mashed potatoes and they were good (not great but good) and the Brussels sprouts which were really tasty but VERY small Portion for price. I've eaten at incredibly high end steak places that charge the same For a side of sprouts and give you more than double what I got tonight at 1845. The birthday boy got a strip steak and potatoes and he gave each of us a bite. $49 for this steak- a good size- but NO FLAVOR at all. Last but certainly not least- our server was nice enough and attentive HOWEVER he had on the Meta glasses that record people and that made our entire table very uncomfortable. My son said he had seen tik tok accounts where waiters record their patrons and post it! (Not saying he was but it definitely changed the atmosphere of our dinner) He also seemed notably disappointed and different after we didn't order the $49 appetizer and no alcohol. Visible mood shift but he did remain professional. All in all, we are baffled by the good reviews. And very very surprised at the quality of product and price point considering Marty Bs coffee has AMAZING food quality and pricing and so does the restaurant, just doesn't seem to be translating to the other establishments. :-(

I wanted something fun for the 6 year old. It was perfect. We booked a stay in an air conditioned covered wagon. There were animals all around; so my son got a five dollar feed bucket and visited a good many animals. The wagon beds were great, came with a/c, a lantern and a tv. They are also linked to an rv resort with a pool just across the road so we spent the afternoon there. It was a great way to spend the night. I would have loved to try the food but we were a bit late to the game and had to leave out too early My only caveat, while I appreciate the in person welcome, my brain cannot process the explanation of the whole book. Recently, I had lunch here, and they now have a new farm to table menu that really exceeded my expectations. The Ranch has reinvented itself many times, and now it's a restaurant I would visit for the food AND atmosphere. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - At its core, it's a bar with several indoor and outdoor dining areas with a country theme. The Ranch is so versatile that you can host a private event while people dine in the main area while others hang out at the bar. There's also a charming outdoor area that is nice if the weather is cool. Best of all - it's full of people and energy. 1 Star. Service - Our server was great. We explained the concept, went over the menu, and while a large table occupied his time, several of the staff were helpful. Everyone was dressed in Cowboy/Ranch gear. Texas Southern Hospitality is real. 1 Star. Food - My most recent visit was like visiting a new restaurant. The Ranch's menu has changed, and everything was new. I started with the pork belly appetizers, which was a great start to meal. The tender pork meat had a layer of sweet + salty belly that melts in your mouth. I went with the Barbacoa Grilled Cheese that was one of the best I've ever had. The barbacoa (shredded BBQ beef) was the star and was better than any brisket grilled cheese I've had. The sourdough was grilled with lots of butter, so after devouring the sandwich I had to wash my hands. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Absolutely. I had been to The Ranch so many times I considered a place to gather for Happy Hour. Not anymore. The new menu is incredible, and I can't wait to return. 1 Star.

The cheese, fruit, nuts and spreads were all delicious. - The Margarita pizza had an interesting twist with the addition of pecans. I really enjoyed it however, I wished the tomatoes would have been consistently sliced as some were barely if at all sliced so you had to do a little more work to keep them in place. - The House salad was good and I enjoyed the vinaigrette it was served with. We also shared a bottle of the house white wine which we all really enjoyed. It wasn't clear from the wine menu that this was an option, but our waiter recommended it and even brought us a sample. The service of a waiter was a mixed bag. I'm not sure if it was the time of our reservation or what else may have been going on but we didn't find him to be as helpful without being prompted, at times made a feel a bit rushed and moved on from us quickly. It was the first time for at least two of us but he didn't ask this nor mention anything about the menu or concept to us. The one exception was with the wine recommendation. Overall we all enjoyed the food enough to want to return with hope for a better service experience.
