Jamison burger

Overall, we had a really nice meal here for our first visit on Saturday night. I made a reservation online a few days ahead for 6:30 pm. We arrived a few minutes late, waited a few minutes for the hostess and wee told it would be about 15-20 minutes for a table. The restaurant was packed, but I was a bit surprised at having to wait considering we had a reservation, and in my experience, even in a crowded restaurant, a reservation means your table is held for you. I don't blame them for not holding a table open when the entire restaurant was full, I'll just keep that in mind on our next visit and go on a less busy night or make an earlier reservation. Since the restaurant was packed, the noise level was pretty high and service was a little slow all night, but Diane did a great job and it gave us a chance to enjoy our appetizers and drinks before the food came. We got our appetizers around 7:30 followed by our food around 8 pm, so it was not a quick meal since we were there about 2 hours total, but the food was worth it. We started out with the pretzel bites and candied bacon appetizers, both good choices. I wish the pretzels had been a little hotter since they came out lukewarm, but they were tasty and the bacon app more than made up for it. For entrees, my husband ordered the NY strip, I ordered the boneless rib eye (the online menu has a bone-in version, but I didn't see it on the actual menu or specials), and my son picked the Jamison burger. The steaks and sides were good, though I'll never be excited about steamed vegetables, but my mash was well seasoned and creamy, and my son's burger was really flavorful and he loved it. My husband's steak was perfectly cooked but unfortunately my rib eye was closer to medium than mid-rare. They replaced it without issue and provided fresh sides along with my new steak. The replacement was cooked much better, but unfortunately, I was stuffed at that point and had to take most of it home. It tasted just as good the next day. Cocktails are pretty standard, and fairly priced, though we did have to snag a cocktail menu from another table. So overall, the food was pretty good and I'd come back again at a less crowded time. The manager and Diane were really apologetic about my overcooked steak, and they comped us dessert to go, and gave us 2 slices of chocolate cake, which was really appreciated. The cake was fudgy and rich and next time I'll have to save room for the churros. Considering it was our first time here, I'd say they really made sure we were happy with our meal and experience.

It was ok. I really did want to like it more, because a good steakhouse can become a great regular haunt. Service was terrific, and the food wasn't terrible, it was just....ok. The clam chowder was a little gummy, the candied bacon was good for the first 2 or three minutes, but then it got VERY difficult to cut and chew. Fun presentation though. The filet mignon was nice, but the 22 oz. boneless ribeye was (1) definitely not 22 oz. precooked and (2) was VERY thin so you lose the beauty of a thick cut well marbled steak. The potatoes au gratin were very good, and the veggies were well cooked. Maybe we'll try the burgers next time.

Doesn't look like much when you walk in but food and service was great. We had the flank steak and lamb chop dinner all done right!

Fishkill Prime is a beautiful restaurant & the service was warm, professional & inviting. The…read morecocktail was well crafted, the foods were all delicious. We noticed Fishkill Prime serves their Porterhouse for two just like Manhattan steakhouses so we decided to give it a try. The porterhouse for two is actually big enough for four. Overall, Fishskill Prime is the perfect spot for a fantastic meal or to celebrate a special occasion. A+ experience. We would definitely come back here again.

We recently visited Fishkill Prime and overall I'd give it about 3.5 stars. The restaurant has an…read moreupscale atmosphere and the pricing definitely reflects a higher-end dining experience, so we came in with high expectations. Unfortunately, the appetizers were a rough start. The lobster bisque was very watery/liquidy, and the lobster itself was tough. The Brussels sprouts were also overcooked. That said, the staff handled the situation very well and were extremely attentive and accommodating when we sent the soup back. The main entrées were much better and really saved the experience. I had the sea bass, my husband ordered the ribeye, and my sister-in-law had the veal -- all were hot, flavorful, and cooked very well. The veal was especially tender. Service throughout the evening was excellent, and you can tell the team is trying hard to make this newer restaurant successful. Overall, while the appetizers and overall execution didn't quite match the upscale price point yet, the entrées and attentive staff gave us enough reason to come back and give them another try. Hopefully, with a little refinement, especially on the starters, they can grow into the fine dining experience they're aiming for.
