I love this place and we had great service. Our waitress was awesome. Crab cannoli was very good. Venison was also very good. Spaetzle was undercooked. Trout was THE big disappointment. Very, very thin trout filets sandwiched between 2 toasted pieces of bread. All I could taste was the bread. The cauliflower side was pretty much non existant. We enjoyed an absolutely delicious lunch at the Post House! Sitting outside was perfect-love all of the greenery and the covered patio. I enjoyed a glass of sparkling rosé and of course Frank's lots of water as it was a pretty hot day. I love that they bring a carafe so I don't drive the server crazy with water refills! I had the butter bean burger which was sooo good-not too heavy, and seasoned perfectly. I would highly recommend it. I am going to be fairly generous and give three (3) stars, although I will not be coming back here. It was a special occasion for my wife and me, as we had been here at the Post House for a date back when we went a courtin'. Unfortunately, the prices for the food are just way too out of reason, considering the quality of the food and its preparation. [As an aside, about a month ago, we went to a place where the food cost us twice as much but it was worth every dime.] Our reservation was for 5 PM on a Saturday and, believe it or not, we were about 8 minutes early. We were told that we could not be seated as the dining area did not open until 5 PM, but we could (of course) wait in the bar. No biggy. We sat in the bar area, and did not order anything, but just waited to be called by one of the two young ladies at the front stand. Finally a few minutes after 5, we were called and sat in a dining area, facing one of the open-to-view server stations, where a few servers gathered at first but then would come and go. Our waiter came up, began pouring one glass with water, and asked if we wanted bottle or [tap] water. Pouring tap water already, so yeah that is fine. My wife ordered a Cosmopolitan ($13). We thought that we would split a Caesar salad which we did. My tip on the Caesar salad is already posted, with my opinion of DON'T get the Caesar salad. I have had many in my life but I never, ever have had one so spiced up with black pepper (ground and also peppercorns) that was close to inedible, and certainly to my taste buds I could not taste the dressing. It almost was lighting my mouth afire. Entree for me was the paccheri neo which our server Kyle said was in-house made pasta, blackened (with ink--squid) and with shrimp. It was a small dish for the $29 which was a borderline okay size with me, but again the chef went crazy with spices and the only thing that would calm the spiciness down was to eat a shrimp with the pasta and gulp some water, and unfortunately there were not enough medium size shrimp to accomplish that. The pasta, other than the spiciness, was good but a bit al dente which is an acceptable manner of cooking and presenting pasta. My wife had the half chicken named Normandy Chicken, described as french style by our waiter. Halfway through eating the half, she said the breast was dry (I had a taste of the chicken and it seemed chewy to me) and the drumstick was reddish with blood nearer the bone. As she had enough and did not want her usual to-go box with that chicken, server Kyle asked if she wanted a box and she told him of the breast was overdone and the drumstick portion undercooked. He said it was something that they heard a fair amount at the restaurant but that is the way that they did it, and it was not undone. His faux paux was telling her "Sorry for the confusion," with my wife sternly but politely responding "I am NOT confused." And so ended the meal, and no dessert as we were headed to a nearby concert in the Old Village (walking distance from the Post House). Despite all of the above, including the chef who might have been off of his game or just had a bad night, I am not going back, but I still tipped 20% on the $104.71 bill (including an undisclosed until presented) CC (credit card) fee of $3.05. There are just too many good restaurants with good food to visit, even revisit and enjoy their food which is not so very much overspiced as our meal was. Kicking in a 3% credit card fee is something a starving restaurant might do, or my dry cleaners, but how many people carry $100 in cash around to pay a restaurant bill? No one that I know. read more

Post House was the best brunch experience. We went with a group of five and sat on the patio and would definitely recommend for a group event. They have a private event space you can rent out as well. We ordered a variety of brunch cocktails that all used fresh squeeze juices and were so fresh and light. We started with a coffee cake for the table which was my favorite bite of the day. The orange cream cheese was a vibrant surprise and really made for a unique experience. Have been wanting to try this place for years! Old Village area of Mt. P is adorably charming and so is Post House. We had a reservation which I highly recommend. I got the burger (uh mazing) and my mom got the house made veggie burger...she also really enjoyed it! A tasty banana pudding to top off a lovely lunch. Tonight my boyfriend and I ate here for our three year anniversary. We got there early to sit at the bar and get a couple cocktails to start. Afterwards, we had our entrees in the back indoor area as requested. Sarah took care of us. She was very nice and knowledgeable of menu items. We had the melon ball, aperol spritz, and pineapple margarita, which were all fantastic. While our entrees took longer than expected, Sarah was quick to provide an app on the house, which was greatly appreciated. The highlight of the night was the filet minion. The flavor blew us away and the soft pink inside was perfect as we ordered medium rare. Food aside, the atmosphere was very welcoming. Great lighting and the chairs were extremely comfortable. Elegant old world charm in old town Mt Pleasant. Service was excellent. Clientele well dressed and upscale. Bartenders were very knowledgeable and attentive. We went on a Saturday night without a reservation and we were told it would be a 45 minute wait which wasn't a problem for us, but we ended up just sitting at the bar anyway. Today our family had brunch after church in Old Village at Post House. This beautiful historical Inn is charming and cozy with an old mahogany bar in the front with inside and outdoors dining. We were sat in the back with vintage red-white china and crisp linens in our laps. Our waitress was sweet and attentive to make our experience extra special. We had the following: Full Southern- over-easy eggs with pork infused collards, crispy sausages and pink grits. All yummy and delicious. Double Cheeseburger- the bun was grilled with butter and topped two beef Pattie's with special tangy sauce and sautéed caramelized onions. The burger was the best I've ever had anywhere. This is our absolute favorite spot in the Charleston area to get brunch or lunch. It has such a quaint feel. It's like stepping into a movie set as soon as you walk in. The food is spectacular. Our favorite dishes are the blue crab toast, the French onion dip with fresh veggies, the tuna melt, burrata sandwich and veggie burger. Street parking was easy nearby. We had a reservation for 11, and there were a lot of open tables inside because people were opting for outside in the gorgeous April weather. The vibe is very homey, chic, southern. I really loved the maintained old home and decor. There are even rooms to stay in on the other floors! The loose leaf earl grey tea was tasty ($5). The corn meal waffles were the star of the show - a fine ground corn bread style waffle. They were small and needed a little more syrup - I prefer it coming on the side. The candied nuts were a nice touch. The shakshuka was heavy on the coriander and two small pieces of bread made the sauce hard to finish. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again. The main detractor is the steep price for small portions and not a ton of breakfast-focused brunch variety. This place is owned by the same restaurant group that does Sullivan's Fish Camp (possibly one of the worst restaurants in the lowcountry) and has the same look and feel. The service is good. Service and food excellent, as expected. Post house is always consistently good and I can count on not being disappointed when I dine here. I ordered the quiche. It came with a side salad. The only thing I didn't care for was they put the vinaigrette for the salad on top of the quiche. I thought it was a mistake but our server said that's the way they serve it. Next time I would ask for the dressing on the salad and not on the quiche. My husband had the southern. He enjoyed it very much, best collards ever!
