Wow; I remember years ago how impressed I was with Portillo's in Chicago. It was memorable! We had not eaten at any Portillo's for a while and decided to take advantage of their $1 hot dog special for the beginning of MLB season. These hot dogs were dreadful. The skin on the hot dogs were so tough to chew that no one finished their item. The fries were plentiful but bland. Even though she was whispering to me, the counter staff member kept asking me to repeat myself. She got several order items wrong, and I, as the customer, had to correct her. We did not even share our concerns with the manager because we decided there would be no more Portillo's for us. We would not have used a manager's coupon if we had been given one. read more

I would've thought it would be quicker but I think they may have been having some difficulties going on. I opted to do the drive thru since it was cold outside and I didn't really want to get out of my car. The order menu was lit up well and the pictures were nice. Definitely the cheese fries, and don't bother with a small order of fries. Why is a small fry even an option? The correct option is a large cheese fry. Portillo's is always fun. The facility is large m, clean and beaming with activity. The staff her hustles and is moderately friendly as those focus on hustling you along. On this day the place was packed with ball players. This facility is close to a large ball park. So.. you might hit long lines if you don't time the ball games correct. The lines and wait times were long. This for a little frustrating for our party of four. The food moved right along until it got to the person who assembles the sandwiches. I thought it was odd that no one stepped up to help this per lady who was the bottleneck of the food assembly line. The outside patio was a great choice on this warm day. Lots of space inside and outside. All areas were comfortable and clean. I had the cheese burger on this trip. The meat was very tasty and cooked perfectly. The burger was moist and oozed taste. Now that they've been open for a few months, I am surprised that it takes this long to get the order from the drive-through. Arrived with a party of 8 people. We put together 4 tables and comfortable chairs. I am handicapped so my wife ordered for 5 of the crew. She advised the person took the orders was quick and knowledgeable. She advised the order process was streamlined. The kitchen area was spotless even after rush hour on a Sunday. Food was to order, Hot and tasty. For birthday cake we purchased a Chocolate cake. One cake served all 8 of us with cake left over to take home. The lady taking care of dining area was doing a great job keeping everything clean and stocked. Everyone was having a great time. Great place for family's to gather and have a meal. I hadn't been to a Portillo's in a long time so when I saw there was one in this area I definitely wanted to visit. I ordered 2 dogs with everything, onion rings, and an iced tea. It was as good as I remembered. You order at one if 3 touch screen kiosks and when your order is ready they holler out you number and you grab it and go sit down and eat. Service was very fast when I was there (although it was definitely an "off" time - like 315pm or so as I recall so really you wouldn't expect crowds or a wait. The decor is like any Portillos, I assume the service was friendly but really since you just order by tapping a touch screen the only interactions you get is the guy at the end of the counter hollering your number. We were told to check out Portillo's by friends from Chicago so we gave this location a try. It did not disappoint. We have tried the roast beef about every way and like it however it's given to us. There's also a birthday club that earns you a free dessert. Service has always been okay and the place is big enough there shouldn't be a problem finding a seat. read more

Fresh salads, Chicago style dogs, and goodness. Yes, you will wait longer here than you will at other fast food places. I would not suggest if you were in a big rush. Good option if you want a bit of variety. They don't have a kids menu, but they do have a big catering menu if you need party prep help. We've done roast beef bars from here and it's good. I love Chicago dogs...At 4:00 on Sunday, there was a short line at the drive through. They had 2 friendly clerks outside taking orders, my order was taken quick and I paid outside. I only waited about 10 minutes for my dogs, which I felt was as reasonable for freshly prepared food. There was a fellow outside rushing orders into cars. I could tell they are trying to get food out quickly. The dogs are great. The natural casing dog is juicy. The peppers have a great subtle heat. The dill pickle and green relish bring the perfect sour/sweet that you expect from a Chicago dog. The crinkle cut fries are a little disappointing. The fries are soft and over salted. Portillo's delivered as good as I remember but the service was very slow, ordered 4 dogs, lg fry and two drinks and it took about 10 minutes ... it was not crowded at all in the restaurant, didn't notice drive-thru. As a former long time Chicago area resident I am a self-admitted Portillo's junkie. When the Westfield location opened I was elated and happy to drive the 5-1/2 miles from my house to have a jumbo dog, Italian beef, or a chopped salad 2-3 times per month. While I'm not able to go that often this past year, I'm still remain a die-hard fan. Food is consistently tasty and hot. Service WAS slow but has improved. Is it because this location doesn't have the traditional Portillo's culture where a sense of urgency is a core practice?? I use the drive-thru 80% of the time and they never have an outside "runner" that is commonly used in Chicagoland. As such, this slows things down. Again, service time has improved noticeably in 2025. If you haven't been there in a while, give Westfield a try/or another look. read more

I ordered door dash from a different state for my parents at this location for pickup and apparently doordash does not make it easy for pickup! It only allowed 2 letters of my name on the ticket so the store had a hard time locating the order. The manager Tammy helped my mom and she was so sweet. She got on speaker phone with me and I explained. She went back in and came out with the bag she had found! With just 2 letters :( She also went to get my mom a fresh order of fries! The garden dogs are great, and I always order with everything: mustard, relish, chopped onions, tomatoes, pickles, sport peppers and celery salt, and add cheese. The steamed poppy seed buns are delicious. Their fries are my favorite of any crinkle-cut fries. With cheese sauce and giardiniera sauce they can't be beat. I like the chopped salad, and the ingredients are always fresh. I order it without chicken and with the house dressing. Desserts and shakes are very good, my favorite is the cake shake. I tried his Italian beef because it looked tasty, but the meat was disappointing, had no flavor. He ordered a side of fries with cheese sauce as well. Unfortunately this location is the exception. Chicago dogs were good, but the burger was so greasy the bottom bun was completely saturated. The food is great and on par with other locations I've been to. I always get a Chicago dog, a dipped Italian beef with hot peppers / giardiniera and a chocolate cake shake. The service is a little on the slow side but this isn't a place you go to if you're in a rush, and I don't remember any of the other locations being lightning quick. The interior ambiance is nice. Very bright and with a good amount of Chicago-themed items on the walls. The music is appropriate also. I was shocked to see so many 1 star reviews, as this place is a favorite of mine. First time checking out the new Portillo's in Westfield! Great location right off the monon and by the sport complex. We decided on portillos for their new summer salads! I have always heard the chopped salad is one of the best and now they have one with the addition of spicy chicken! We ordered that minus the hot peppers because we are a bit spice intolerant. And then looking at the pictures of the burgers we decided to split that as well. The burgers have the nice chargrilled flavor to them and are large and filling. Can't order the fries without a side of the cheese sauce and thankfully they don't skimp. The salad was great! Great flavor with the dressing paired with the spicy chicken. I will say there were some spicy bites that may have been residual from the hot peppers! A few large chunks of green onion but still tasty. I would definitely get it again!
