Excellent salads! The everything salad had edamame, fresh greens, grilled chicken, candied pecans, and a homemade vinaigrette. My friend was able to order the chicken tender salad and asked for buffalo chicken instead of plain chicken and they kindly obliged . The nachos come out in a huge coffee can that they turn over and dump out and everything is perfectly evenly distributed so that the bottom nachos are not naked and all the toppings on the top. The staff made up for the kitchens woes this evening - I ordered the BBQ platter and as they were plating my food, I was told they ran out of ribs. (6 PM on a Saturday... disappointing) I was offered a replacement of more pulled pork or corned beef. I wasn't initially offered something else on menu, however when the manager approached after hearing of the situation, she offered me something else off the menu. I chose the Italian beef, it was a 6/10, but I was half full from snacking on my mother's meal so I wasn't bothered. The BBQ platter was comped and we were given a warm cookie with ice cream as a "sorry". Well done, staff! I will be back to try the ribs next time! read more

Smokey's is a renovated building on Main Street in the little town of Lapel, Indiana. On street parking is free. The main dining area is one level making it accessible. This restaurant is located in the heart of Lapel. It has a decent sized dining room, a full bar with seating, and a very nice outdoor patio/courtyard area. You will find televisions over the bar and in the dining area. There is free street parking on the street in front of the restaurant. There is a garage door that they can open up in the front of the restaurant and there is a roll up window that opens up the dining area to the patio. They have a full menu that consists of burgers, barbecue, pizza, salads, chicken, and tenderloins, along with some savory sides. The restaurant also has a savory drink menu with signature cocktails and beers. The restaurant has daily food and drink specials, so check with your server to see what the flavor of the day is. I got their special for the day, which was a burger with pulled pork and slaw, yummmm. It came with fries and I got an additional side of baked beans. It took about 15 or 20 minutes for me to get my food.The staff was so apologetic. The bar tender/server was so attentive, friendly and helpful. My food was delicious. The burger was so tasty and packed with flavor. I made a good choice, if I do say so myself. The fries and beans were equally delicious. It has a great garden/patio area that often has live music in the warmer months. The building with exposed brick and original floors is very charming. It has unique decor that is similar to other Foxgardin restaurants. Order barbecue; pulled pork, ribs, pulled pork nachos. All delish. Well know for the fried chicken and you cant go wring with their collard greens, cornbread and Smokeys fries! The service is friendly and helpful. They do a great job with getting the food out fast. Heard through the grapevine about their blood mary special on the weekends. It was amazing. The waitress asked if I wanted it spicy l. I said a little but definitely could have stood more heat. Will try a hot one next time. All of the snacks on the drink were good, fresh. Fries were good too. No complaints. We went at 11 and it wasn't crowded at all. We parked right in front but it did look like there was only street parking. We hit Smoky's promptly at 11:00 on a Saturday. They we just unlocking the doors, but welcomed us eagerly and set out two fine screwdrivers to start the morning. The menu is varied, but not overwhelming, I went with the special, a barbecued/smoked chicken quesadilla while my friend went with the reuben. The place was clean, super organized. All beer labels facing the right way, glasses lined up label out. You could tell the folks here care. We decided to switch out the screwdrivers for greyhounds (vodka and grapefruit juice) and our server/bartender Ashley delivered with perfection. I prefer a greyhound when available...just more tart with the vodka in my opinion. Ashley then delivered the food. Excellent in every aspect. I'm very impressed with the food quality at smokeys. We ordered the pulled pork loaded fries, fried chicken sandwich, and half rack of ribs. The pulled pork fried came out and it's a large sharable portion. The pork was soft and delicious and the fries and toppings were all delicious. The chicken sandwich was very good and The toppings were fresh. The pork ribs were smokey and super tender, no complaints! For a brand new restaurant they have it right. Service was excellent and so was the food! We got the pizza. It was delightful. Fresh and the sizing was perfect. Probably the best thing about it was that the crust was Crisp all the way to the center. We like a nice thin crust and this one was just right and it held it's weight! We were seated in the shadow of the brick wall to keep the heat off. We surprisingly ended up being here for their opening night after the soft openings. We were shocked! We see alot of potential! The location is VERY small. In the warmer months the size will double. When in the bar do NOT lean against the pipe separaters!!! The food was great! I was afraid it would be smoky inside based on the name bit that was not the case at all. Everything smelled wonderful even for me who does not like the smoky smell. Unfortunately it became very, very loud after an extremely short time!! We wanted to leave because it was so loud. They need more POS systems because the wait staff were waiting for others to finish up before they could input more orders. The lone POS System was right behind me as were the servers waiting for their turn. We, as a group, like the coleslaw but think it needs some sweetener. The salad was weird with the green beans and edamame included but great overall. I did have to change the cheese because of an allergy to bleu cheese. The wings were absolutely delicious!! The waitress was super nice and polite. However there was the manager or someone sitting discussing the schedules loudly with other employees. We ordered an appetizer and planned on splitting a pizza but after we ordered the appetizer we were told the pizza machine was down (not their fault but would have been nice to know when we got there) so we each ordered a sandwich. I won't discredit how good the smash burger was but I truly feel like it was over priced when it didn't come with any sides. Overall, I think the food is good but a little pricey for what you get.
