Traveling for work is tough. Long days turn into late nights, and eating healthy often falls by the wayside. That's why I was excited to discover Portia's Cafe, a spot dedicated to fresh, nutritious ingredients. Their menu is vegan, gluten-free, GMO-free, and organic, using local produce whenever possible. After a marathon day at the office, I ordered delivery straight to my hotel room. While Portia's leans toward lunch with its quesadillas, salads, and wraps, good food is good food any time of day. I went with the Notuna Salad and Red Lentil Soup--a classic combo that absolutely hit the spot. The notuna (made from mashed, seasoned chickpeas, I believe) was flavorful, especially with the creamy cashew dressing over fresh greens and shredded carrots. The red lentil soup added a comforting heft to the light salad. I couldn't resist finishing with an apple almond cookie for a sweet ending. Portia's got me through my work night. I'll definitely be back on future trips to Columbus. read more

Been a while, but we returned to Portia's for a weekend dinner. We were able to get water, drinks, and our orders put in promptly. Everything is vegan so there's no shortage of options. The iced chai latte with soy milk tasted like pumpkin pie. He had notuna wrap while I had a tofu gyro. Both were the "whole" portion as opposed to "half" so it was two halves of a wrap. About $14 each. It did take a while to get our orders, but they tasted good. Water bottle on the table so we poured our own refills. Good use of space and a casual atmosphere. read more

My friend suggested this spot since they accommodate for dietary restrictions. Neither of us are vegan though! They have two rooms you can dine in. But the main room is smaller. My friend got kombucha and tried the taco bowl while I went with the falafel wrap. Delicious! And pretty filling! The falafel was more like a spread. And instead of a tortilla wrap, they used something that tasted and looked like teff. Very fresh ingredients! We did try some of the baked goods. I got a chocolate chip cookie that was gluten free. A bit too crumbly but it was good. Parking isn't my fave. It backs out onto the street but there was space for me to turn my car around just a bit. read more

Found this gem looking for a Vegan restaurant while passing through Columbus. I wish I had found it sooner as we are in Columbus a lot! I have Celiac disease and multiple food allergies that I've dealt with the last 12 years. Finding a place with all gluten free and vegan food is just unheard of, and we travel a lot! I was in happy tears when looking at the menu as everything sounded amazing and I actually had a whole menu to choose from! We decided on the tofu gyro wrap and falafel Mediterranean wrap, the spinach artichoke dip with toasted tortillas, cheesy loaded potatoes, pecan pie, blondie macaron, mushroom latte.. from the menu! They also have a large cooler with desserts, craft sodas, kombuchas and teas. They also offer breakfast all day, which was horrible as I also wanted to try those dishes too!! We live in Cincinnati, which is not too far away, and plan to be a regular at Portia's. If they ever want to start a chain restaurant in Cincy, I'd love to invest! We have nothing like this in Cincy (we are the worst city for vegan/gf, ughhh) Highly recommend no matter what your diet requires, you need to eat here! . I'm not vegetarian, but done right, vegetarian food can be amazing. This was very good- the food was pretty good, plus the experience as a whole was great. Lots of interesting stuff on the menu, but I love pad Thai and had read the very mixed reviews, so I had to try it. Flipped a coin and got brown rice instead of the kelp noodles, though I was curious about those. Came out pretty quick, looked good, tasted good. Loads of veggies on top of a big portion of rice, with what looks almost like maybe tahini on top but is in fact the sauce, with ground almonds, coconut, dates, and a touch of heat. All works well together. It's not pad Thai though. It's hardly even similar, and I think they should just rename it. If you read the menu description it explains exactly what is in it, but if you gloss over and just read the name, you might be disappointed. It's good stuff and can stand on its own. The menu also includes "bacun," "sawsage," and other cutesy stuff. Some people need to be persuaded to try new things, I guess, or reminded of things they used to like, but just forge ahead and call it something new, since it really isn't like the name. Anyway- healthy, tasty, fresh, and fast. And reasonably priced for quality and quantity. Plus it's a cool little place- not really small, I think there's a room next door, but cozy. And service was excellent. I interacted with several people including Portia, and all were cool, helpful, and friendly. They were moderately busy at lunchtime, so it wasn't always the same person checking on me, but they stayed on top of things. Parking note: be careful, tight parking perpendicular to what can be a busy street. And there are several doors here, not all usable, plus the health food store also has a sign that say's Portia's, so make sure you are headed into the right place. Lovely staff. Seriously the energy was great. Friendly informative attentive and just genuinely authentic. Many food options to consider. Everything is vegan. +++ I had the pad Thai with rice and tofu and it came out tasting not so much like pad Thai but certainly a rich flavorful dish all on its own. Would recommend to others if you can handle a little spice. Met a nice couple there who chatted me up and go there regularly. Not often you go somewhere and immediately feel like there is a sense of community. Mostly 2 top tables and a few larger ones but it works for their space. This is the e best vegan restaurant I've had in Columbus! They have various snacks and desserts out front, you can order takeout from the front cashier or sit down in either side of the restaurant. The menu is large, so there's certainly something for everyone. My boyfriend loves meat, and he said that Portia's may turn him vegan. Smoothies, wraps, small plates, breakfast options all day, it's a wonderful spot! And, prices are reasonable for the food. My wife and I recently transitioned to a plant-based diet, and most of our cooking has been done at home. However, we are eager to try all of the vegan restaurants around the city (as well as restaurants with plant based options). Portia's Cafe was our first stop, and we dined there for a late lunch today. The inside is absolutely adorable. I really dig the different colored walls, the live plants, and the art. It had a wonderful smell that filled my nose the second I stepped in. It reminded me of a vegan restaurant that I used to frequent in my hometown. Our server was very outgoing and friendly, and was somewhat attentive. Now, onto the food: I ordered a peach smoothie, and my wife ordered a frozen strawberry lemonade. The drinks didn't arrive until the meal did, which was a bit of a bummer, but oh well. She had an arugula pesto bowl, which I'd give 4.5 out of 5 stars. It was big, packed with a bunch of yummy stuff and had a great dressing. I ordered the pad Thai with kelp noodles and grilled tofu, after the server raved about this. This is where things sort of went down hill. :( I get that a vegan pad Thai won't be just like a real pad thai...but why even call it that? It was cold, and coated in what I believe to be vegan Mayo. Flavorless. Almost too soggy. The tofu was the best part of the dish, and it was just okay. This dish is one of of my least favorite meals I've ever had at a restaurant. Just so bummed about it. More bummed when our total was $51 before tip, since I didn't eat most of the dish. My wife is excited about this place and wants to give it another try. I do, too- I know it's a staple for the vegan community in Columbus. I just don't wanna be bummed twice. We will probably return sometime this summer and go again. Just don't get the pad Thai. This place is incredible! The vibes, the service, the food, I'd give 100+ stars if I could. My partner and I ended up getting stranded an extra day due to the wintery elements and we weren't too upset about it, because that meant we had the chance to go back to Portia's the next day. The teff wraps they use are delicious, the tofu egg and coconut bacon is incredible, and the coffee is exactly what you need on a cold day. The service warms the soul as much as their sweet potato/butternut squash soup did. Go check this spot out, you won't be disappointed. read more

This was my first time getting Portia's. I can't believe it took this long, considering they're within walking distance of my home. I'm absolutely obcess3d with their Mediterranean Wrap. We also ordered their Rosemary Home Fries and Dip Sampler. The fries were so flavorful and the SALSA! I can say enough about it. We were looking for a dog friendly place for breakfast and saw two tables on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. That was enough to get us to pull into the parking lot and give the place a try. I had a breakfast wrap. She had a breakfast burrito bowl. Afterwards we shared a slice of apple pie. Our puppy sat on the sidewalk, enjoyed the aroma of our meals, and probably wished we were the kind of folks who fed their pets from the table. The food and service were both great and prices were reasonable. We'll go out of our way to eat here again. read more

I've been to Portia's cafe several times since moving to the Columbus area. I've always enjoyed the food but the service and some of the staff are subpar. It doesn't matter if the food is good when your server is giving you I'm bothered by your presence vibe. She never came to check on me not even once. No smile no hi how are you doing just a grimace face. I decided today that I won't be back. I'll make my raw food at home. I'm not giving my hard earned money to a business that doesn't make you feel welcome. It's the girl in the blue shirt and every-time I'm there she carry's a bad attitude aura. read more

Being a vegetarian, several of my friends have highly suggested that I check out Portia's Café. It took me quite some time to get there, but I'm glad I finally stopped in for some grub. I came in for a mid-week lunch on a rainy day and was pleased to find a good number of people in the dining room. The space is a little cramped, as in you can easily pump elbows and eavesdrop other patron's conversations, but it was cozy. I really liked all the awesome art on the walls. It took a little while for our server to get to us but when she did, she was friendly and offered suggestions. Their menu is enormous!! Sometimes this can be a good thing, sometimes it causes me to sit and stare aimlessly, unable to make a decision. I eventually decided to start with a cup of their vegetable curry soup. It was flavorful and had a great number of yummy veggies inside. I definitely noticed the coconut and curry, very nice! For my main meal I opted for a half portion of their Great Tofu Wrap. It came with vegan cheese, guac, grilled tofu, tomatoes, onions, shredded carrots, sprouts, spinach, lettuce, mustard, and vegan mayo. I was really surprised by how big it was. I only got the half portion, so I can't even imagine how big the full portion is. All in all, my experience was... in Yelp terms, A-OK. The service was a little slow, but they were nice. The food was good, but it wasn't anything super special in my opinion. The restaurant itself gives off a very hippie dippy vibe, but gave me some anxiety considering how compacted and full of stuff it was. I've never been here before, but after visiting, I have a lot to say! The food was pretty okay, I've had better vegan food in Akron. The wrap was pretty average, definitely was something I could live without. The cheese on it tasted pretty gross, almost bitter. Maybe you would have better luck ordering something else, just disappointed considering how expensive it was. I was very impressed with the desert assortment though. The cheesecake is amazing with so many different flavors. I tried the lemon and the mint and recommend. Needs to be chilled or else it will melt though, probably in the freezer. As for the service it was pretty okay, the server seemed overall annoyed like she didn't even want to be there, not a very nice serving attitude imo, but didn't really have any problems with the service other than that. I'm disappointed because I really wanted to leave this place a five star review since it is a vegan restaurant! In the morning, hungry and still a little stressed we went searching for a good breakfast to re-start the trip. Found Portia's and was beyond thrilled. Had the overnight Oatmeal with bananas and pecans. OMG a great way to forget troubles and get happy. Also had the egg/ tofu wrap. With coconut bacon. Yes you read that correctly. Really good. This was our first time & it was a very nice experience. You can dine in or grab a something quick from their fridge or shelves. They sell snacks, sweets, fresh produce, drinks, treats, and more. You sit yourself & a waiter will be with you. Our waiter was kind & attentive. We ordered a good amount of food because we wanted a taste of everything. The Pad Thai with kelp noodles & berry mango cheezecake were my favorite! The Thanksgiving quesadilla was a bit bland. It paired well with the cranberry sauce... In my opinion you need to eat the cranberry sauce with the quesadilla to enjoy it.. which wasn't a problem. Somehow, I still took to it. I liked everything about it, like the ingredients, how it's made, etc. My husband devoured the Breakfast Burrito Bowl & BLT. He said if he had to choose between the two he'd prefer the BLT. He loved the cheezecake so much he ordered 2 of them. He really enjoyed his smoothie as well. When ordering he asked if they could add a little ginger in it & they did with no problem. We definitely plan to come back. He said the cheezecake alone is a reason for him to come back. read more
