Another view of burrito and hashbrown to show how large they were

Stumbled upon Blackend Coffee Co. while visiting Columbus for my partner's graduation. I wanted to try a local coffee shop that I hadn't been to before. They're centrally located in Old North in the rear of Ace of Cups. There's plenty of parking on the street and in the lot adjacent to the building. Walking up on a Friday morning, their staff was super friendly and welcoming. I scanned the menu and decided on a fall flavor for my latte and a hearty burrito and hash brown. It was really cool to learn that their entire menu is meat, dairy, and egg free. The coffee was perfect pumpkin spice flavor and not overly artificial like some products with that description can be. Great for someone who enjoys a lighter roast but still needs the caffeine kick. The burrito was massive, had tons of just egg, seitan chorizo, and potatoes. It really impressed me in its quality and overall cohesiveness. I think my favorite thing was the hashbrown. Super crispy, not oily or undercooked, a fun / unique shape, and also equally large. I know I'll be back when I'm in Columbus visiting friends and family.

Let me tell you what- this place might be my new obsession. Coffee is amazing and food is equally as stellar. The hash brown is perfectly crispy and tasty and the burrito is so good and it's MASSIVE. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming. Will be back for sure!!!

We really wanted Frenchi's, so we drove up to this OG location. No line which is great! A nice woman was working the counter. We got our sammies and brought them home. They were as solid as always, but there's some things I have to note: Frenchi himself always made our sandwiches to perfection. Toasted, hot, perfectly made. The two times we had another employee make them, they are just different. Same ingredients, but different ratios maybe? Today my husbands Eiffel came super toasty and meats/cheese heated up in a microwave (or toaster oven maybe?) My Buckeye always used to come warm, but only if Frenchi made it. Twice now, I got barely toasted and my meat wasn't warmed at all. Also, man I loveeee the house made chipotle mayo but today was just way too much sauce. Yes, I should have spoken up about what I specifically wanted, but part of my reviews need to include things like consistency. Today was fine, but not the 5 star I've come to expect. One star off for the other location being closed and not posted anywhere. One star off for inconsistent sandwiches.

A Late Lunch at The Brown Bag Deli - German Village…read more Tucked away on Mohawk Street in historic German Village, The Brown Bag Deli is the kind of place that feels both casual and quirky the moment you step inside. The walls are painted like blackboards, with the menu handwritten in chalk, giving the space a friendly, eclectic charm. It's the kind of spot that invites you to slow down and savor a sandwich that's been carefully thought through. As a former chef, I tend to pay attention to the details--flavor balance, texture, presentation--and our late lunch at Brown Bag had plenty of those little moments worth noticing. My Sandwich - The #1 on Ten Grain I went with the #1: roast turkey, house-made coleslaw, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing, all stacked on hearty nine-grain bread, grilled and served warm. True to the deli's name, it arrived wrapped in paper and tucked into a simple brown bag, accompanied by a crisp kosher dill pickle. The turkey had a gentle smoky undertone that stood out nicely against the slightly melted Swiss. The coleslaw was rough-cut, lightly dressed, and added a crunchy, fresh contrast to the rich Russian dressing. At $14.25 a la carte, the sandwich was generous in portion and satisfying, but I found myself thinking this would be the perfect sandwich to split--especially if you're also adding sides. I paired mine with Molly's macaroni salad. It had all the right components--peppers, onion, celery, chopped egg--but for my taste it leaned a little dry. A touch more creaminess could have taken it from "good" to "great." My Wife's Choice - The #16 Classic Club Candi went for the #16 Classic Club: roast turkey, thick-cut bacon, lettuce, tomato, and herb mayo on sourdough. At $14.50, it was every bit the traditional stacked deli club, with layers of flavor you expect. She gave it the thumbs-up. Like mine, her sandwich was served with a pickle, and she added a side of broccoli salad. Flavor-wise, it had promise, but it could have used a bit more seasoning to brighten things up. We also shared a bag of rosemary and garlic kettle chips--crunchy, flavorful, and a good complement to the sandwiches. Price vs. Value Our lunch came to $42.50 before tip, which pushed the total to nearly $50 for two sandwiches, two small sides, and one bag of chips. As someone who's worked in kitchens, I understand the rising cost of ingredients and the challenge of keeping margins while delivering quality. That said, I couldn't help but feel that for the price point, a sandwich should come with a side included. It would make the value match the taste. Final Thoughts The sandwiches were definitely the highlight--thoughtful combinations, good quality ingredients, and prepared with care. Would I go back? Absolutely. But next time, I'll likely split a sandwich, skip the sides, and leave room for dessert--the display case looked tempting. The Brown Bag Deli is a German Village staple for a reason: it's straightforward, unpretentious, and delivers on flavor. Just be prepared for prices that lean higher than your average deli stop. Until next time, I'm Brian -- and remember to Take the Trip! (And maybe the dessert next time, too...)

As someone who works long hours and is trying to prioritize health and fitness, CleanEatz has given me back HOURS of my life. The new menus come out every Tuesday morning. There are at least 5 meals to choose from, plus multiple extras. The more meals you buy, the less they cost per meal. Go online to their website, pick your location, and order your meals for pick up on Sunday or Monday. If you decide to order extra protein, the pick up day is Tuesday. The meals are portion controlled and the perfect amount of food. They are all done after 2 min in the microwave. Macros are detailed on the website for each option. I buy 15 meals each week. I have lunch and dinner for myself, and my husband works from home so only gets a meal for dinner. This. Is. A. Game. Changer!!! Pro tip: if you are a first time ordered, pre order online, choose "pay in store". Go to the store on your pick up date and tell them it's your first order for a 50% off coupon for 10 meals!

I just can't believe they served that to us. When we left she said "I'm sorry and I'm texting the GM now." She should have just gave us the money back. There was maybe 5 onions pieces the size of nickels that came pouring out of a sub that acts more of a squishy squirt gun than a sub, lately the bread is stiff and falls apart on the first bite. This sub was garbage Previously I got my favorite, the chicken caesar. The crispy chicken cutlets were so well done that they were hard to bite through and that just ripped apart the now stiff old rolls, and of course now everything is pouring out. The bread is not the same quality a year ago, in fact I saw a delivery of bread and I thought I saw everything was made in house. I'm kind of at the 1,2, strikes you're out because let's face it these aren't cheap subs and feeling ripped off while covered in your subs droppings is the worst feeling, I'm not to eager for a possible 3rd disappointment. The staff is always extremely friendly but it's an expensive sub shop, I want more than kindness.
