That's a risk, given that the Mayo Clinic is the primary reason anyone is in Rochester, Minnesota. With all the ailments on display in the city, a visitor pushing that bookcase could drop dead on the spot, and the lawsuit would put Bitter and Pour out of business. I almost broke the damn thing pushing and pulling. Bitter and Pour has all top-shelf liquor, and their cocktail list sounds fascinating. The mixologists are well-trained. Our bartenders on a Wednesday afternoon in September were professional, but they lacked the warmth I encountered everywhere else in this city. Our drinks were great, though, and B & P must be the best cocktail lounge in Rochester. I wish they served some small bites, but that's not their thing.

The seating is either bar seating or chairs & couches surrounding round tables. A musician playing the keyboard graced us with some sweet jams. Since these are craft cocktails, it takes a while for the bartenders to make the cocktails, but it's worthwhile. They have fun glassware for certain drinks - I was shocked when my drink was served aflame! It was called The Rabbit and was very tasty. A bit pricy per drink but a great place to stop for a few drinks with friends! It was easy to get a reservation and on the day, we were greeted and seated promptly! The service was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. For starters, we had the lobster bisque and steak tartare. I will admit I was a little apprehensive when ordering the bisque but I'm glad I did! It did everything I needed it to. It was perfectly creamy and tasty, as well as comforting! The tartare was pretty good but we weren't fans of the EXTREMELY crisp "bread" pairing. The main dish was the Seafood Perlou which was almost perfect (the mussels felt off). The cocktails were quite good as well! There were some curious pairings and mixtures on there but they worked very well! Overall, this was a good experience. It seems like a good place for a first date, or a business dinner, or even a more casual outing with friends! It was good without trying too hard, if that makes sense.

Highly recommend the confit potatoes which are cooked in marrow fat with this really nice cheese cream sauce. Overall I think the highlight of most of their dishes including the Manti Dumplings and Bone Marrow risotto are their sauces which are well rendered, have a nice citrus tang to them (could be strong for some) or bone marrow rendered fat flavor. Service was great at the bar with our server giving us recommendations on how best to have our dishes. Food came out decently quick with the app first then mains. Was very pricey though worth it if you're looking for a nice treat with friends, partners, or family! :) Ambiance was chill and nice overall. They have nice decor and vibes and I'm glad they recovered after the recent accident a year ago!

We found the five course tasting menu to be interesting, but neither my wife nor I found the food to be delicious or memorable. Quality ingredients were top notch and the preparation and plating excellent, but we just didn't care for the flavors or combinations that came out. We expect when we get a tasting menu to have a few dishes that might miss the mark for us -- that's sort of the point. You're exploring the chef's ideas and dishes. It's strange when none of the dishes really hit with our palates and we travel all over the world in search of amazing food and dining experiences. To make matters somewhat worse, we did the wine pairing and oftentimes with the courses we found the wine did not pair incredibly well with the plates. Further, when the wine was served we never saw a bottle once and were never told about the winery, the vintage, etc. -- only the type of wine it was and what flavors we could expect. We've never had that before with a wine pairing. We encourage the chef to continue to explore his palate, creativity, and imagination and we look forward to the possibility of coming back again some time in the future to see how this chef and menu may have evolved.

The whole atmosphere was bright, modern, and welcoming, too, with high ceilings and pleasant spaciousness. We were in a booth with people on either side but didn't feel crowded. My husband had a local beer from SXSE while I had a cranberry hibiscus margarita. The cheese curds appetizer was AWESOME. Great serving size, fresh and squeaky cheese, and good coating. The ranch served alongside tasted fresh like it was house-made, too. My husband loved his meal: custom burger with fries. The bun was even great quality. I had the grilled chicken with toasted quinoa salad. The portion size was massive, and it was a very good mix of flavors and textures. I've never had quinoa toasted in this way before. The baguette piece along with it was great, too. We were too full to order dessert, which was a shame, as they had bread pudding on the menu, one of my favorites. We'll need to come back!

My wife had the risotto with braised beef cheek (so tender!), roasted oyster mushrooms, veal demi-glace, and parmesan. Unctuous and umami. I had the Bucatini -- blue crab with anchovy butter and red pepper pesto. I'm a sucker for anchovies and the anchovy butter, once stirred into the pasta, was absolutely delicious and really complimented the crab. A truly savory and decadent treat. This is a cool Irish Pub. The decor is beautiful. Some of the walls are decorated with pictures from Dublin Ireland that reveal some of it's history. The stained glass windows throughout the restaurant really give the restaurant a nice feel. The background music was catchy and upbeat. As I checked out the menu a James Brown song came on and I started dancing. The hostess asked if I was dining in and I said I am now. I sat in a booth that was very comfortable and enclosed which gave some privacy to the adjoining booth. My waitress was really nice. She and another other waitress helped me narrow down what to order. I went with the chicken tenders and pub chips. The plate looked very appealing. The food was hot and tasted great. The tenders came with a sweet chili sauce that was good, but I was more in the mood for savory and asked for a side of the Nashville Hot Sauce which hit the spot. It can feel a bit cramped but gives kinda a speakeasy vibe meets hipster. Note that finding parking is a bit challenging here. There are two booths on the window that would make excellent date spots. The reason for the rating is due to the service. I made a reservation for the spot and made reference to it being our anniversary. However, nothing was done to reference the reason for the dinner. I had never been there and didn't know about the booth availability. The place was busy but we didn't get much attention (menus were left on the table, didn't get small plates to eat the Drummies properly, got one refill of water toward the end, etc). I felt bad about this rating because I've read people enjoying the experience. However, this is what I experienced. The food is great. Service could be better.
